Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga:
During the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, you combine three fundamental elements: breath, asana, and drishti. These elements require a high degree of focus and concentration, which helps to clear and calm the mind. Ashtanga yoga is a vigorous Hatha yoga practice that consists of six fixed series. It originated from the ancient text known as the “Yoga Kurunta” and is the source of popular Vinyasa, power, and flow styles in the West. If you’re interested in learning more about this practice, come and join Anandam Yoga School for their 100 hours Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training in Bali.
Ashtanga Vinyasa theory:
In the theory classes, you will cover various topics including the history of Ashtanga Vinyasa and the myth surrounding the Yoga Kurunta. Additionally, you will learn about Patanjali’s Ashtanga Yoga, which is the eight-limbed path of conscious living and spiritual practice. This course also covers prana and pranayama, chakras, bandhas and how to use them in your practice, drishti or gazing points, kriyas for cleansing and purifications, and mudras.
Teaching methodology:
During this course, you will be introduced to both teaching styles – Led classes and Mysore style. You will learn Vinyasa terminology and Sanskrit terms like counts and asana names. Additionally, you will learn tips and tricks for executing jumps in and out of sitting poses, as well as the Tristhana of Ashtanga and the opening and closing mantras.
Asana alignment:
This yoga teacher training covers the Primary Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa and teaches you the art of teaching this style. You will learn the importance of Ujjayi breath, how to do Vinyasa flow with jumping back and front, how to do Chakorasana rollback, and how to transition from Hasta Uttanasana into Chakrasana and back. The asanas of the Primary Series will be broken down, and you will learn their sequence, alignment, and how to make verbal and physical adjustments.

To understand the effects of this practice on the physical body, the course covers the respiratory system, cardiovascular system, nervous system, and muscular system.
