Food

Food is vital for our bodies and provides us with energy. The type and quality of food we eat affect our physical and mental well-being. When practicing yoga, it’s important to consider not only the nutrients our body needs but also the energetic aspect of the food. Have you noticed how the food you eat impacts your yoga practice? Ayurveda, which is connected to yoga, teaches us about the effects of different foods on our overall well-being. According to Ayurveda, “Sattva” refers to purity in both self-control and spiritual well-being. Sattvic foods promote purity in mind and body, nurturing the mind and fostering clarity, compassion, and calmness. They sharpen our intellect and are easy to digest. Following a sattvic diet can help keep your mind alert, refreshed, and peaceful. During our courses, we provide students with three delicious vegan meals a day, prepared hygienically and with love by our experienced kitchen team. The meals are buffet-style and include a variety of vegetarian dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We also offer drinks as part of the meal plan.

I didn’t have any specific dislikes, but the other attendees were surprised to see me because I was the only one doing a yoga retreat while they were all doing yoga teacher training. Despite that, I had a great time because I approached it with a positive attitude and a desire to learn. The staff at Bali Yoga School really left an impression on me with their politeness and helpfulness. They made me feel incredibly welcome. Even though I’m not vegan, I absolutely loved the food served at every meal. The fruits were super sweet and the other dishes had delicious flavors and fun names.

I didn’t experience a retreat. I spent five days alone, but then I joined a group of ten people who were completing the 200-hour yoga program in one month. They had been practicing yoga daily for two weeks already and were aiming to become teachers, so their level was different from mine. It wasn’t exactly relaxing because the main goal of the 200-hour program was to learn quickly and obtain the certification, rather than simply enjoying the practice of yoga as I had anticipated. Perhaps it would be helpful to inform people who are interested in the retreat that they’ll be joining this type of group. However, I must say that the place itself is really amazing, the staff is fantastic, and the rooms are very nice.

The accommodation wasn’t great. It was expensive for what we got. It was loud and narrow, and there wasn’t much space for us to relax and have privacy. The food was good, but it was always the same. However, the teachers were excellent and the people there were nice, available, kind, and helpful. Overall, everything went well.

The instructors were really friendly and had a positive approach. I learned a lot in just two weeks! The classes had a nice flow and we even had longer breaks to rest or relax after lunch. I highly recommend this place and the people working there. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. It’s such a peaceful and relaxing place. I’ll definitely come back for more classes when I’m in Bali. I had an amazing experience with the 300hr Yoga Teacher training at Himalayan Yoga Ashram. I can’t recommend it enough! The course provided such comprehensive and in-depth information. We covered everything from daily physical yoga practices to technical anatomy classes, and had detailed discussions with different teachers on yoga philosophy, meditation, breathing techniques, Mudra practice, and Ayurveda.

It really deepened my knowledge in traditional yoga, rather than just the mainstream stuff. The anatomy classes were especially helpful. They gave me a solid understanding of how the body works, which made everything easier to grasp. The feedback on assignments was also great. It was constructive and encouraging, and made me reflect on my development.

Completing this course not only made me love and appreciate yoga even more, but it also gave me the confidence to teach in a classroom setting. It inspired me to continue learning, practicing, and following the path of yoga.

N.A. Himalayan Yoga Association offers a comprehensive teaching manual that you can access anytime, anywhere, and go through at your own pace. The training videos are pre-recorded, making it convenient for you to watch whenever you want. For a deeper understanding of different yoga subjects, we have daily zoom live classes where you can ask the teachers any questions you may have. I really hope to visit Rishikesh someday. Thanks a lot for the amazing course. A big shoutout to Saumya-ji for being so helpful.

Thank you so much for this incredible experience! I participated in the 300hr Online Yogateacher Training in November and it was absolutely amazing. The Yoga Theorie liveclasses were incredibly clear and well-structured. The information provided was on point and I genuinely loved immersing myself in yoga for this entire month. Surprisingly, I also had the opportunity to connect with other students in the course, which created a close-knit community atmosphere. It was lovely and not something I expected from an online training. The practical live classes were also a highlight for me, and I’m thrilled to have delved into Ashstanga Yoga. The small groups made the training feel more personal and less impersonal, allowing me to ask all my burning questions during the live classes. Once again, thank you so much to Bali Yoga School and HYA for this incredible experience. Namaste!

My experience with the teachers was amazing. I learned a lot from Shanti Ji, Ida Ji, and Niki Ji. I’m so grateful to have met these beautiful souls in my life. Dewa Ji made me feel at home. I am 100% happy with my experience, and all my memories with Bali Yoga School will remain in my heart forever. I wish I could stay longer. Wishing you all the best. Thank you!

The tropical weather here can make mosquitoes quite annoying, so don’t forget to bring your mosquito spray. This school is absolutely beautiful and conveniently located. The staff is super helpful and friendly, and the teachers are total pros. You’ve gotta try the Balinese vegetarian meals – they’re so yummy and they switch up the menu every day. I really enjoyed my time studying here and I’ll definitely be telling my friends about it.

I felt a lack of protein in the meals because I’m not a vegetarian. It wasn’t enough for the physical effort required and as a result, I personally lost a lot of weight, which isn’t positive in my case.

The rooms should be cleaned better, especially the areas with insects.

I would have liked to stay longer, but I will definitely come back. ??

The place is beautiful, the schedule is perfect, and the food is very good.

The professors are simply incredible. They made me feel comfortable right away, and despite their young age, it’s clear that they have a perfect mastery of their work, both in theory and in practice. Neelam Ji is funny and passionate. Durgesh Ji is calm and soothing. Rahul Ji is incredibly professional and patient. And finally, Ankit Ji, my favorite professor, is fun and challenging, bringing a breath of fresh air to the class. Thank you to all four of you for your kindness, patience, and the passion you put into your work. I won’t hesitate to do the experience again with the same teachers. ❤️?

Mosquitoes evolved there. You should bring long yoga pants for class because spray won’t help much ? I really enjoy the alignment, Vinyasa, and Ashtanga classes. Ankit ji and Rahul ji are both very professional and knowledgeable. They have exceeded my expectations as teachers. I especially want to thank Durgesh ji and Dewa ji for taking great care of all the students. The accommodation was lovely and all the staff were so welcoming. I also loved having a local family living next to us, it made me feel like I was truly experiencing the local culture. This was my first time trying a vegetarian diet, but the food was so delicious and there were so many options. It actually helped me lower my fat and build muscle. I read previous reviews and noticed that the program had undergone significant changes in terms of food and syllabus. However, when I did my program in January, I was disappointed to find that nothing met my expectations. The food, which was high in carbs, was not very nutritious. Despite being assured that my celiac condition would be accommodated, there was a lack of understanding about what “gluten-free” truly meant, resulting in frequent illness for me. Additionally, there seemed to be a disconnect between the goals of the students and the teachers. As a 300hr student, I do not recommend this training. On a positive note, I did enjoy the opportunity to spend time practicing yoga.

The school delivered a very poor level of teaching and was extremely disorganised and unprofessional.

The classes provided before the start did not even add up to 200 hours. The tutors were consistently late, which demotivated the students and caused them to arrive later, resulting in even shorter classes. One class was even cancelled because of rain, despite it being the rainy season, further reducing the hours.

The yoga classes were just ordinary yoga classes, with very little instruction on how to actually teach yoga, except for two sequencing lessons. What’s even more concerning is that we were not assessed on our yoga teaching or even given the opportunity to teach yoga.

A significant number of students missed numerous classes, estimated to be around 40% of them, and yet they still passed and are now considered “qualified yoga teachers”.

There were a total of five teacher changes, with the tutors for Astanga class, meditation class, alignment class, and pranayama class all changing and then changing back without any warning or explanation even to the tutors themselves.

On two occasions, I had another student break down in my arms because the tutors had confronted her for complaining to the management.

The food provided was terrible – basic, bland, and never enough.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I truly believe that this school not only offers a very poor experience for its students, who have paid a significant amount of money, but it is also potentially dangerous as it qualifies individuals who are not ready to teach yoga.

Overall, I think this is a terrible school that has been set up solely to make money. It’s hard to find anything positive to say about it as almost every aspect was a disappointment. The only things worth mentioning are the nice pool at the accommodation and the helpfulness of the accommodation manager. I could tell that the manager was embarrassed about the low quality of food that the yoga school recommended. Additionally, most of the other students’ accommodations were quite nice, but unfortunately, my friend and I were placed separately and our rooms had a lot of mold. When I checked out, I discovered that some of my clothes had mold on them, but the manager was very helpful and promptly had them cleaned.

The school we attended for our 200-hour qualification was incredibly disorganised and unprofessional. The level of teaching was not at all what you would expect from a reputable school. Throughout the course, we had to deal with five different tutors who were all very young and inexperienced in teaching teachers. On top of that, they would often arrive late, causing us students to also be late. It was frustrating to see such unprofessional management.

To make matters worse, we didn’t even have an exam on how to teach yoga. The classes focused solely on practicing yoga rather than teaching others. The quality of the food provided was extremely poor as well. It’s unbelievable that some students who missed several classes still managed to receive a certificate at the end.

The excursions mentioned on the school’s website were not where they were advertised to be, and we were expected to pay for them even though they were supposed to be included in our package. It became clear that this school was more interested in making money than in providing a high standard of education or support. The owner, in particular, was unhelpful and impossible to approach. It seemed like he favored one student too much, which raises doubts about his credentials as a yoga teacher or a competent manager.

On a positive note, Ubud is a lovely place to visit. Despite the numerous problems at the school, Durgesh, Dewa, Ankit, and Rahul – the individuals who tried their best to fix the issues – were genuinely nice people. They tried to remedy the many problems the school had.

The Anatomy and Philosophy classes in this school are not well organized. You can easily find clearer information by googling or watching YouTube videos. The notes they gave us only mentioned a little about the 5 Kleshas and barely touched on the 7 chakras. Plus, one of the meditation teachers just suddenly left and sent us a message on WhatsApp. We didn’t even get an official notice or a backup plan if a teacher gets sick. They just told us to self-study. What would happen if a teacher got sick for a few days?

They changed the pranayama teacher in the middle of the course, and then changed again. There was no communication between these teachers, so they didn’t know what the other teacher had already taught.

I came to Bali to learn how to be a teacher, but we didn’t have enough time for teaching practice. We didn’t come here just to practice yoga, as we can do that in our home countries. The school should provide guidance on how to teach yoga for us to practice, not just practicing yoga ourselves.

The school mixed all the students from the 100 hours, 200 hours, 300 hours, and 500 hours programs together, and we all learned almost the same things. They should have separated us based on our yoga level.

The organization is lacking and what I’ve learned here is not sufficient to become a teacher. The lead trainer couldn’t effectively lead the course.

The food here is almost the same every day and there isn’t much variety.

Ankit and Rahul, who are both very young, have a passion for teaching. Especially Rahul, who is willing to spend extra time teaching us advanced poses. The course coordinator, Deva, did his best to fix the problems and take action.

I was pretty disappointed with the training overall. I was hoping to learn a lot more practical teaching knowledge, but I feel like I didn’t really gain much from it. Some of the teachers seemed inexperienced and didn’t know how to effectively teach others, despite having great personal practices. There was also a lack of structure and coordination between the teachers, and it felt like we didn’t get what was promised in the syllabus. It was frustrating to spend a lot of time on basic things because many participants were inexperienced. The whole experience felt more like a retreat rather than a proper yoga teacher training, especially since they mixed the 100hr, 200hr, and 300hr classes together. The 300 hour program was basically the same as the 200 hour, and if I had paid for that, I would’ve been really disappointed and asked for a refund. The management and scheduling were also a mess. Overall, the program lacked depth and structure. I genuinely believe that each of the instructors are good-hearted individuals, and I wish them the best. However, I can’t help but feel like I didn’t get my money’s worth at all. Also, the “included excursions” only covered transportation. We still had to pay for everything once we arrived, and there wasn’t much communication about that. On a positive note, the accommodation was nice and the food was tasty and healthy. The instructors were all young but kind-hearted individuals.

The Philosophy classes didn’t have as much discussion as I expected, and the Anatomy classes lacked practical knowledge. The focus seemed to be more on self-development than teaching others.

There were some issues with communication right from the start. I had booked private accommodation and confirmed via email, but when I arrived, I was told I had to share for a night. Luckily, I found another place to stay for that night and didn’t have to share, but it was still frustrating.

The program was also poorly managed. Classes often started late because the teacher was late, and some classes were canceled without any backup plan due to teacher illness or bad weather. When I provided feedback, some teachers took it seriously and made improvements, but others made me feel like I was causing trouble. That didn’t sit well with me.

The food was good initially, but it got repetitive after a week. There were also a lot of mosquitoes. Thursdays and Sundays were free days. On a positive note, our Vinyasa teacher, Rahul Ji, was energetic and enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge. I really enjoyed his classes. Ankit Ji’s alignment classes were clear and detailed, and I appreciated the theory he incorporated. Aylan Ji taught us Pranayama, and her classes were inspiring. Durgesh Ji’s meditation classes were exceptional, with a well-structured and enjoyable approach.

We had different teachers for Meditation, Alignment, Pranayama, and Ashtanga, which provided a diverse learning experience.

We stayed at Puri Suksma, surrounded by nature. It was a beautiful place to practice and study, with visits from monkeys, squirrels, ants, and butterflies. It felt like living in a National Geographic documentary.

I had the opportunity to meet incredible people from around the world and learn a lot from them. Completing this program has allowed me to make new friends, become more in tune with my body, discover new aspects of myself, and become a better yoga practitioner. I am truly grateful for this experience.

Every day we had the same food. Some of the classes were pointless because we had no idea who had taught them before, who hadn’t, or what level everyone was at. So they just started everything from the beginning, even for people who already had 200 hours of teaching experience.

We did a lot of practice, but they never taught us how to structure a class or put a flow together. And when we asked the teacher about it, it was like they were shocked that we were even on a “teacher training” course. Although I learned a lot about philosophy and other topics, I didn’t get a chance to actually teach a yoga class during the four weeks I was there. Now I have to do more research on how to structure a class because they didn’t teach us that. The teachers were nice, but the classes had no structure at all.

I absolutely love how this experience brings me back to simplicity – simplicity of the mind, expectations, resources, and especially food and relaxing locations.
I am really grateful for all the hard work and preparation the teachers have put in. I’ve had such great learning experiences with Yoga Asanas by Rahul Ji & Ankit Ji, Types of Breathing by Aylan Ji, and Meditation by Durgesh Ji. Finding the Bali yoga school was a bit of a challenge – they have two locations. One is specifically for teacher training, while the other, called Dewas place, is for short retreats. Make sure to ask for directions! I stayed at Dewas place for a lovely 7-day retreat. Dewa and his wife were the amazing hosts, always eager to help with anything we needed. The guest house itself was absolutely charming, and they even had a wonderful pool. The massages by Mini left me feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, and the yoga classes led by Cynthia and Armin were simply perfect. The accommodation is located in Ubud, but to get to the city center or a proper supermarket, you usually need a taxi because the accommodation is a bit secluded. The teachers were amazing and dedicated to everything, and the single rooms were spacious and generous, with their own shower and toilet that were cleaned by the staff daily. The food was always on time and lovingly prepared, mostly vegan and gluten-free 🙂

Firstly, I was emailed the address of a new location in Bali at the last moment. It was difficult for me to find the new place when I arrived late at night, and I had trouble finding a phone number for the course leaders online. To my terrible surprise, the place I arrived at was not the same as the pictures on the retreat ad. The pictures were very misleading, causing distress for both me and the entire group. I was in shock because I had traveled a long way and already paid my deposit online. I was seriously considering leaving. The accommodations and yoga shala were both unsatisfactory. This greatly affected my initial impression of the YYT and their staff, making them lose credibility. These negative feelings continued for a while during the training. However, we discussed the matter as a group with the course leader, and the issues were resolved by changing the accommodations and having morning practices at a much nicer yoga shala a few times a week. The food started off good and diverse, but then it became less appealing and varied. The cleanliness of all areas was also not up to standard. It was unfortunate that we had to start our journey to becoming Yoga Certified Trainers with such a lack of organization and unprofessional management as a group. Now, moving on to Bali itself, it truly is a special city. The people are warm and always smiling. As for the YTT, I have to say that the instructors made it all worthwhile. Their deep knowledge and great energy helped me get through the strict but rewarding schedule. I especially want to thank Guru Pradeep Ji. He has a clear and in-depth way of explaining postures and alignment. His expertise, along with the other teachers’ input, made the course completely valuable. The delicious vegetarian meals were also a highlight. Furthermore, sharing the experience with a group of people I had just met was heartwarming. The moments and experiences we shared during the short but intense course with all the amazing people are unforgettable and truly priceless.

We just finished our 200-hour TT with Bali Yoga School, which is associated with Himalayan Yoga Association in Rishikesh, India. We were searching for a yoga school that could give us authentic knowledge of yoga, and the teaching staff did an incredible job of delivering that throughout the course.

Every day, we started with Shatkarama (cleansing process) followed by Ashtanga yoga led by Pradeep ji. He is a fantastic teacher with extensive knowledge of yoga anatomy and alignment. His expertise in yoga science was evident in the instructions we received. Throughout the four weeks, we learned three new asanas every day and gradually progressed through the Primary series of Ashtanga Yoga.

One of our favorite parts of the day was meditation and philosophy. We had the opportunity to learn from Johsan ji, who is such a humble human being. He taught in-depth topics with lightheartedness, making it easy for all of us to understand.

Cinthia led the Vinyasa flow, which was great. She provided valuable information on sequencing, teaching cues, and most importantly, she encouraged everyone to teach. This made the practical assessment component of the training much more enjoyable.

Our rooms had amenities like hot water, air conditioning, a communal pool, and a study area for night-time. The food, which was supplied by a caterer organized by the yoga school, was overall great. The breakfast, in particular, was delicious. All the meals were vegetarian and gluten-free.

Overall, it’s a great school! Minal and Hesh

The teachers at this yoga school are absolutely the most positive aspect. They are lovely individuals who are full of energy, passion, and dedication. They know how to motivate the students, possess a wealth of knowledge, and enjoy sharing and spending time with new yogis. They are always smiling and available to offer any kind of help. They truly inspire me and provide me with the strength to continue on this path and remain focused. Each teacher has shared a piece of their soul with me, and I have created many beautiful memories with fellow students and all of the teachers. I am grateful to have discovered a new, wonderful family. Thank you, teachers, you are simply amazing!

The food was good, and I never went hungry as a vegan. Sometimes, the choices were limited, but towards the end of the course, they started understanding how to improve our food options. Hopefully, they will take this knowledge on board for the benefit of future vegan students. By the way, I’m actually English, not from the States.

I was really impressed by how adaptable the teachers were to our requests for altered schedules to suit our needs. Dewa did a great job organizing our Sunday sightseeing trips, and he went above and beyond to make our stay memorable in many ways. Their philosophy was to ensure that we had an amazing experience.

I also have to mention Cynthia, our Ashtanga flow teacher. She was absolutely awesome! Incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and so much fun. She made the classes enjoyable and engaging.

Food

Food nourishes and energizes our bodies, playing a crucial role in our overall well-being. In the practice of yoga, food goes beyond mere nutrition. It is essential to supplement our bodies with the right nutrients to fully engage in yoga. The type and quality of food we consume impact both our physical and mental health. Have you ever noticed how the food you eat affects your yoga practice? Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, teaches us about the influence of different foods on our overall well-being – physically, spiritually, and mentally. Ayurveda distinguishes sattvic foods, which promote purity and clarity of mind and body. These foods nurture the mind, cultivate compassion, and maintain a sense of calmness. They also enhance our intellect and are easily digestible. Eating a sattvic diet, according to the Bhagavad-Gita, keeps us alert, refreshed, and at peace. During our yoga courses, we follow Ayurvedic teachings and provide delicious vegan meals three times a day. Our experienced kitchen team prepares the food hygienically and with love. I didn’t have anything in particular that I disliked, except for the fact that the rest of the attendees were surprised to see me there. I was the only one doing a yoga retreat, while everyone else was enrolled in yoga teacher training.

But despite that, I had a great time because I approached it all with a positive attitude and a hunger for learning. The staff at Bali Yoga School were absolutely amazing – so polite and helpful. They truly made me feel welcome.

I’m not even a vegan, but let me tell you, I absolutely loved the food they served at every meal! The fruits were incredibly sweet and the other dishes were full of flavor, and they even had catchy names.

I didn’t go on a retreat; I spent five days doing it alone before joining a group of ten people who were doing the 200 hours in one month. They had been doing yoga every day for two weeks and wanted to become teachers, so their level was different from mine. It wasn’t relaxing because the aim of the 200 hours was to learn quickly and obtain the degree, not to simply enjoy practicing yoga like I had expected. Maybe you should let people know they’ll be joining this kind of group if they want to do the retreat. The place is fantastic, the staff is amazing, and the rooms are really nice.

The accommodation wasn’t great and it was expensive for what we got. It was loud and cramped, with not enough space to relax and have our own privacy. The food was good, but it became repetitive. However, the teachers were excellent and the people there were nice, helpful, and always available. Despite the accommodation, everything else went smoothly.

Sometimes I would get hungry after finishing my meal portion, but I would just prepare some instant food instead, so it was no big deal. I absolutely adore this school! I would give it a solid 9.5 out of 10 overall.

Here are some reasons why I love it:
    1. The accommodation is great – it’s clean, cozy, and even has a swimming pool surrounded by beautiful trees.
    2. The people here are so friendly and welcoming.
    3. The air is so fresh, which helps me feel rejuvenated and alive.
    4. The teachers are just awesome – they’re cool, supportive, and always ready to help.
    5. And the best part? We get to do yoga all day long!

I absolutely loved the 300hr Yoga Teacher training with Himalayan Yoga Ashram. They covered everything in such a thorough and detailed way. From the daily yoga practices to the anatomy classes and discussions on yoga philosophy, meditation, breathing techniques, Mudra practice, and Ayurveda, it was all on point.

I learned so much about these topics from a traditional perspective, which was really refreshing compared to mainstream yoga. The anatomy classes were especially great because they made it easy to understand how the body works. It wasn’t just memorizing facts; it was learning with real understanding.

The feedback on our assignments was incredibly helpful. It was constructive and encouraging, which made me take time to reflect on my own growth and development.

Completing this course has deepened my love and appreciation for yoga even further. It has also given me the confidence and preparation to teach in a classroom setting. I now feel inspired to keep learning, practicing, and following the path of yoga.

The daily zoom live classes are great for deepening our understanding of different yoga topics, and we can ask the teachers any questions we may have. I really hope I can visit Rishikesh one day. Thank you so much for this amazing experience! I participated in the 300hr Online Yogateacher Training in November and it was truly great. The Yoga Theorie liveclasses were so clear and systematic, providing just the right information. I really enjoyed immersing myself in Yoga for a whole month. Surprisingly, I also connected with fellow students, creating a small community. This was unexpected in an online training, but it made the experience really pleasant. The practical live classes were also fantastic and I’m thrilled to have discovered Ashstanga Yoga. The small group size made the online yoga teacher training feel more personal, and I was able to ask all my questions during the live classes. Huge thanks to Bali Yoga School and HYA for this incredible journey. Namaste!

I felt a lack of protein in the meals because I’m not a vegetarian. It wasn’t enough for the physical effort required and I personally lost a lot of weight, which is not positive in my case.

They should clean the rooms better, especially the areas with insects.

I would have liked to stay longer, but I will definitely come back without fail. ??

The professors are just amazing. They made me feel comfortable right away, and despite their young age, it’s clear that they master their work perfectly, both in theory and in practice. Neelam Ji, funny and passionate. Durgesh Ji, calm and soothing. Rahul Ji, very professional and patient. And lastly, Ankit Ji, my favorite teacher, fun and challenging, a breath of fresh air in the classroom. I read the reviews previously and the program had changed dramatically with the introduction of new food choices and syllabus. However, when I attended the program in January, I was disappointed to find that the location and food had been changed without meeting my expectations. The food provided was high in carbs and lacked nutritional value. Despite being assured that they could accommodate my celiac condition, there was a lack of understanding regarding what “gluten-free” really meant. Consequently, I fell ill frequently. Additionally, it felt like there was a disconnect between the goals of the students and the goals of the teachers. Based on my experience, I do not recommend this training for 300hr students. On a positive note, I did enjoy the opportunity to dedicate time to practicing yoga.

The school had a lot of issues. It was disorganised, unprofessional, and the teaching was of a very poor standard.

To make matters worse, the classes we were promised didn’t even add up to 200 hours. The tutors were always late, which made us lose motivation and show up late too. This resulted in even shorter classes. One time, a class was cancelled just because it was raining, even though it was the rainy season. This meant even fewer hours of teaching.

The yoga classes were just regular yoga classes. We didn’t really learn how to ‘teach’ yoga, except for two sequencing lessons. The most worrying part was that we weren’t assessed on our yoga teaching skills or even asked to teach yoga.

A lot of students missed many classes, I estimate about 40% of them, and still passed and became ‘qualified yoga teachers’. It doesn’t make sense.

There were five different teachers for different classes. The Astanga class, meditation class, alignment class, and pranayama class tutors all changed, and then changed back, without any warning or explanation to us or even to the tutors themselves.

On two occasions, a fellow student ended up crying in my arms because the tutors had confronted her for complaining to the management.

The food was terrible. It was basic, tasteless, and always in insufficient quantity.

I don’t usually write reviews, but this school not only provides a terrible experience for students who pay a lot of money, but it could also be dangerous since they’re qualifying people who aren’t ready to teach yoga.

Honestly, I think this is a terrible school that was only set up to make money. There were hardly any aspects that I liked because almost everything was a disappointment. The only positive thing I can mention is that the pool at the accommodation was nice, and the accommodation manager was very helpful. I felt like she was embarrassed about the low quality of the food that the yoga school suggested. Most of the other students had better accommodation, but my friend and I were situated away from them and our rooms had a lot of mold. When I checked out, I discovered some of my clothes had mold on them, but the manager promptly got them cleaned.

The school is a mess, so unprofessional and disorganized. The level of teaching is nowhere near what you would expect from a 200 hour qualification. They kept changing tutors throughout the course, and let me tell you, these tutors were young and inexperienced in teaching teachers. On top of that, they were always late, which made us students late as well. The management of this place is a joke! They didn’t even bother giving us an exam to assess our teaching skills. The yoga classes were just that – no training on how to actually deliver a class as a teacher. And the food? Absolutely dreadful! Can you believe that some students missed a bunch of classes and still got a certificate at the end? Talk about low standards! The excursions were a total disappointment too. They were supposed to be at the advertised locations, but surprise, surprise, you had to pay for them even though they were supposed to be included. It’s obvious that this school is only interested in making money, not in actually educating or ensuring a high standard of teaching. And don’t get me started on the owner. He was unhelpful, unapproachable, and spent way too much time favoring one student. It really makes you question his credentials as a yoga teacher or even a professional manager running a yoga school. On a positive note, Ubud is a beautiful place to visit. Durgesh, Dewa, Ankit, and Rahul were the only saving grace in this whole mess. They tried their best to fix the countless problems that this school has.

Anatomy and Philosophy classes are not well organized. I can easily find clearer information on Google and YouTube compared to what the teachers say. They only give minimal information on the 5 Kleshas in their notes, while I can find exact information on the website. They barely mention anything about the 7 chakras.

One of the meditation teachers suddenly left and just left a message through WhatsApp. We only found out through another teacher, without any official notice. There’s no contingency plan or backup if a teacher gets sick. They just expect us to self-study. What happens if the teacher is sick for a few days?

We had to change the pranayama teacher in the middle of the course, and then change again. There was no communication between these teachers, so they didn’t know what the other teacher had already taught.

I came to Bali to learn how to be a teacher, but we didn’t have enough time for teaching practice. We didn’t come here to practice yoga, as we can do that in our home country. The school should provide teaching practice for students, not just yoga practice.

The school grouped students from different hour programs together, and we all learned almost the same things. They should separate us according to our yoga levels.

It’s disorganized and what I’ve learned is not enough to become a teacher. The lead trainer is unable to properly lead the course.

The food options are almost the same and lack variety.

Ankit and Rahul, despite being young, have a passion for teaching. Especially Rahul, as he’s willing to spend extra time teaching advanced poses to students.

The course coordinator, Deva, tries his best to fix problems and take action.

I found the training to be quite disappointing. I was hoping to gain more practical knowledge on teaching, but I ended up feeling like I didn’t learn much. Some of the teachers seemed inexperienced and lacked proper training on how to teach others, despite having a strong personal practice. There was also a lack of structure and coordination among the teachers throughout the training, and it didn’t align with what was promised in the syllabus. Additionally, the participants in the 100hr, 200hr, and 300hr classes were grouped together, which made the 300 hour program feel like a repeat of the 200 hour program. The management and scheduling were chaotic too. Overall, the program lacked depth and structure. Although the instructors were good people with good intentions, I don’t feel like I got my money’s worth. The “included excursions” turned out to only cover transportation, and there was poor communication about additional costs. On the bright side, the accommodation was nice and the food was nutritious. The instructors, although young, were kind-hearted individuals.

The Philosophy classes didn’t have enough discussion and the Anatomy classes lacked practical knowledge. The course focused more on self-development than teaching others.

I had some issues with communication from the start. I booked private accommodation and confirmed through email, but when I arrived, I was told I had to share for a night. I ended up finding another place to stay for that night to avoid sharing. It was frustrating.

The program wasn’t well managed. Classes often started late because the teacher was late and some classes were cancelled without any backup plans. When I gave feedback, some teachers took it seriously and made improvements, while others made me feel like I was causing trouble. It wasn’t a great experience.

The food was good at first but then became repetitive. Just be prepared for Thursdays and Sundays off and a lot of mosquitoes.

Our Vinyasa teacher, Rahul Ji, was amazing. He was energetic and passionate about sharing his knowledge. I really enjoyed his classes. We also learned traditional adjustment techniques from him, which was fun to try on each other.

Ankit Ji’s alignment classes were clear and detailed. He made sure we understood everything and even added theory to his practical classes.

Aylan Ji taught us Pranayama and her classes were well-delivered. Her journey in yoga was inspiring.

Durgesh Ji’s meditation classes were exceptional. They were well-structured, explained well, and very enjoyable.

We had different teachers for Meditation, Alignment, Pranayama, and Ashtanga, which gave us a chance to experience different teaching styles.

We stayed in Puri Suksma, a place surrounded by nature. It was amazing to practice and study in such a serene environment. We even had visits from monkeys and squirrels. It felt like living in a National Geographic documentary.

I met wonderful people from all over the world and learned so much from them. This program has helped me make new friends, become more aware of my body, discover new aspects of myself, and improve as a yoga practitioner. I’m truly grateful for this experience.

The food remained the same every day. Some of the classes lacked direction and didn’t clarify who had already taught, who hadn’t, or the skill levels of the participants. Consequently, they started from scratch every time, even for those who already had 200 hours of teaching experience. We practiced a lot, but there was no instruction on how to organize a class or create a proper flow. When the class asked the teacher for guidance, it seemed like they were completely surprised that we were on a “teacher training” program. Although I gained a lot of knowledge about philosophy during the four weeks, I never got a chance to actually teach a yoga class. Now, I’ll have to conduct more research on how to structure a class because this was not something we were taught. The teachers were nice, but the classes lacked any semblance of structure.

I just wish the school would provide Coffee for our afternoon or before lunch class. It would really help with the tiredness from our morning exercises and improve our concentration. I love how this experience brings me back to simplicity – simplicity of the mind, our expectations, the resources we have, the food we eat, and even the relaxing locations we’re in.

I really appreciate all the hard work and preparation the teachers have put into this. I’ve learned so much from Rahul Ji and Ankit Ji in Yoga Asanas, Aylan Ji in Types of Breathing, and Durgesh Ji in Meditation. It feels like I’ve been here for a long time and I don’t want to leave.

The program should have included more yoga/meditation. Not everything matched as announced. There was a lack of variation and flexibility in the daily trips.

Finding the Bali yoga school was quite challenging – they have two locations. One is for teacher training and the other is called Dewas place, which is for short retreats. Just make sure to get proper directions. I decided to stay at the retreat for 7 days and let me tell you, Dewa and his wife were absolutely amazing hosts. They went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. The guest house itself was full of charm and had a delightful pool. The massages given by Mini were so rejuvenating, and the yoga sessions with Cynthia and Armin were simply perfect. If you’re looking for a place to escape the chaos and recharge, this place has all the right ingredients.

I think vinyasa classes should be improved and taught better. I really enjoyed Pradeep’s classes and meditation.

Nothing. I am satisfied with everything. We had a small group, quality teaching, accommodations reserved only for students, so we formed a tight-knit family. We all ate meals together on-site, which created a complete immersion experience.

We had a few problems because the people who looked after the accommodation didn’t communicate well with us, but thankfully nothing major. The teachers were incredibly knowledgeable and they gave us everything we needed for the course. The location was absolutely incredible, as we felt like we were in our own little paradise with a small temple right next door. And even though we were secluded, we were still close enough to all the things we needed in Ubud. Now let’s talk about the food – wow! It exceeded my expectations. Towards the end, it became a bit repetitive, but it was always fresh and there was always plenty of it. I’m so grateful for that.

The location of the accommodation is in Ubud, but to get to the center or a proper supermarket, you usually need a taxi because the accommodation is a bit secluded. The teachers were great, they were engaged in everything. The single rooms were spacious and generous, with their own shower and toilet, which the staff cleaned daily. The food was always on time and beautifully presented, mostly vegan and gluten-free 🙂

So basically, I received an email with the address of a new location in Bali at the last minute. When I got there late at night, it was really hard to find the place and I couldn’t find a phone number for the course leaders online. To my surprise, the place I ended up at didn’t look anything like the pictures on the retreat ad. It was really misleading and caused a lot of distress for me and the whole group. I was in shock because I had traveled a long way and already paid a deposit online. I actually thought about leaving. The accommodations were terrible and the yoga studio wasn’t any better. It really messed up my impression of the whole Yoga Training program and their staff. It took a while for the bad vibes and negative feelings to go away. We talked about it as a group with the course leader and they made some changes. We got better accommodations and started practicing at a nicer yoga studio a few times a week. The food started off great, but then it got boring and not as good. The cleanliness of everything was also not up to par. It’s really unfortunate that we had to deal with this disorganization and unprofessional management right at the beginning of our journey to become certified Yoga Trainers. Moving on, Bali is such an amazing place. The people there are so friendly and always have a smile. The instructors in the YTT program were the ones who made it all worth it. They had so much knowledge and positive energy that helped me get through the tough yet rewarding schedule. I have to give a special shoutout to Guru Pradeep Ji, he explains postures and alignment in such a clear and thorough way. His expertise, along with the other teachers, made the course totally worth the money. And let’s not forget about the delicious vegetarian meals, they were one of the highlights. The group experience was also really heartwarming, especially since we were all strangers at first. The moments and experiences we shared during the short but intense course with the amazing people there are memories I’ll never forget and are absolutely priceless.

We just finished our 200hour TT with Bali Yoga school, which is associated with Himalayan Yoga Association in Rishikesh, India. We were on a quest to find a yoga school that could pass on authentic knowledge of yoga, and we found exactly that. The teaching staff did an incredible job throughout the course.

Every day, we started our mornings with Shatkarama (cleansing process) followed by Ashtanga yoga led by Pradeep ji. Let me tell you, Pradeep ji is a fantastic teacher with a deep understanding of yoga anatomy and alignment. You could clearly see his knowledge in yoga science through the instructions we received. We learned three new asanas every day and gradually moved through the Primary series of Ashtanga Yoga. The whole four weeks were well-structured.

One of our favorite parts of the day was the meditation and philosophy sessions. We were fortunate to learn from Johsan ji, who is not only incredibly knowledgeable but also very humble. He taught us in-depth topics with a lightheartedness that made it easy for all of us to grasp.

We also had a great Vinyasa flow class with Cinthia. She provided us with valuable information on sequencing, teaching cues, and she made sure to encourage everyone to teach. This made the practical assessment part of the training much more enjoyable.

Our rooms were amazing, with hot water, air conditioning, a communal pool, and even an area for studying at night. The yoga school organized a caterer to provide us with food, and overall, it was fantastic. The breakfast, in particular, was great, and all meals were vegetarian and gluten-free.

In summary, it’s safe to say that this is a wonderful school! Minal and Hesh

The teachers at this yoga school are the most positive aspect. They are lovely individuals who are filled with energy, passion, and dedication. They know how to motivate the students and possess a wealth of knowledge. They genuinely enjoy sharing and spending time with new yogis, always wearing a smile and offering help whenever needed. Their presence truly inspired me and gave me the strength to persevere on this path and remain focused. Each teacher shared a piece of their soul, and I have many cherished memories from the time I spent with both fellow students and the entire teaching staff. I am incredibly grateful to have found such a wonderful new family. Thank you, teachers, you are absolutely amazing!

The food was good, but as a vegan, I sometimes had limited choices. Towards the end of the course, they began to understand how to improve our food options. I hope they remember this knowledge so that future vegan students can benefit. I’m actually English, not from the States, by the way.

I was impressed with how adaptable the teachers were to our needs, particularly with altering schedules to suit us. Dewa organized some fantastic Sunday sightseeing trips for us, making our stay memorable in many ways. Their philosophy was to ensure we had an amazing experience. I also want to mention Cynthia, our Ashtanga flow teacher. She was awesome, incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and tons of fun!
