During the internship, you will have the opportunity to experience the Balinese philosophy of life and spirituality firsthand, as well as explore local culture and traditions through various activities. These activities include meditation, yoga, nature walks, wellness activities, Hindu blessing and purification ceremonies, healing treatments, and a day of silence. This program aims to help you reconnect with your spontaneous nature, tap into your creative energy, slow down, feel, live in the present moment, embrace novelty, and say yes to life.

Program

1st day

You will arrive at your first hotel of the program (meals not included, airport transfer not included). You will be expected at the hotel in Sanur on the first day, with rooms reserved under your name. Each participant can arrive at the hotel at a time that suits them best or according to their flight arrival time. The hotel address will be provided when you make your reservation. Just so you know, rooms are available from 2:00 PM. If you arrive before this time, you can leave your luggage at the reception and enjoy the facilities and surroundings (pool, garden, beach, etc). Located in the south of Bali, Sanur is the first beach resort on the island, known for its welcoming and calm atmosphere. The seaside is enjoyable, offering walks, swimming, and serenity. You will find modern shops, upscale restaurants, Balinese-style “warungs” (local restaurants), small markets, and more along the beach and in the city center.

2nd day

A gentle day for your first Balinese immersion (breakfast and lunch included). It’s the perfect opportunity for you to explore Sanur with its beach, restaurants, peaceful lifestyle, and traditional boats. An ideal place to start your journey, combining local immersion and relaxation. You will then be treated to a foot massage at a reflexology salon. This traditional Chinese massage technique, called acupressure, helps relieve tension in the body and soothe certain emotional issues. It’s a gentle and natural holistic treatment that aims to restore balance between the body and mind. Ideal after a long flight. Lunch will be served on Sanur beach with local cuisine, including grilled fish and vegetables, followed by swimming for the rest of the day. Your first day will be filled with discovery and relaxation. In the evening, there will be an introduction to mindfulness meditation in French. Meditation originated in India about 4,000 years ago. It’s a practice of attention that promotes letting go and inner peace. This practice helps focus on the present moment, sensations, and breathing. It aids in calming the mind, improving self-confidence, and enhancing physical and mental well-being.

3rd day

Classic breakfast, vegetarian lunch and dinner included. In the morning, you will head to the Ubud region, a hidden gem away from the tourist hustle and bustle. Located amidst rice fields and tropical forests, it offers the perfect setting for your Balinese yoga and sensory immersion. During your Balinese immersion, you will have the opportunity to experience a one-hour Balinese massage. The exact time and day will be arranged with Made. You will be greeted by Made and his well-being team in the late morning. You will have time to discover the place, meet the team and Made, and relax by the natural pool, take a stroll in the lush nature, listen to the birdsong, or simply enjoy the silence. Let yourself be inspired by the beauty and tranquility of the place. There will be an introduction to restorative yoga in the evening. Restorative yoga is one of the lesser-known forms of yoga, even though it has been around for 40 years. It draws its origins from ancient yogic traditions and is similar to Yin Yoga and BKS Iyengar’s yoga. Known for reducing stress, promoting deep relaxation, and rejuvenating the body and mind, restorative yoga is accessible to everyone. It is often practiced with props such as blocks, cushions, and other accessories to help practitioners let go and improve their respiratory capacity.

4th day

Breakfast, vegetarian lunch, and dinner included. A sunrise yoga session awaits you, using relaxation exercises and yoga postures to calm your mind and body and better manage your emotions. Made will guide and accompany you throughout the yoga sessions. In Bali, there are many gods to be celebrated, and opportunities for celebration are abundant! Hindu ceremonies truly punctuate the daily lives of Hindu Balinese people. You will participate in a Hindu purification ceremony led by a local priest (pemangku) at a Hindu temple. The pemangku is considered the guardian of the temple, and his role brings him closer to the people. The ceremony involves prayers, offerings, and purification with sacred water. Immerse yourself in Balinese spirituality for your well-being. There will be a restorative yoga session in the evening. Restorative yoga is a slow yoga practice similar to Iyengar yoga and Yin Yoga. It helps reduce anxiety, rejuvenate, and experience deep relaxation. This type of yoga encourages kindness towards oneself, respecting one’s limits, focusing on the sensations felt, and using breath as a guide to determine if a position feels comfortable. It allows for letting go and finding harmony.

5th day

Breakfast, vegetarian lunch, and dinner included. You will start the day with a sunrise yoga session to regain flexibility and inner strength. Breathe, listen to your body, its sensations, and live in the present moment. Then, you will go on a mindful nature walk at your own pace in the rice fields, observing, listening, awakening your senses, connecting with Mother Nature, and being open to interactions with villagers. It’s a great opportunity to learn to slow down, feel, and breathe. An artistic creation workshop will follow, where you will make canang sari, which are offerings used in all Balinese Hindu ceremonies, using flowers, incense, rice, and more. There will be a restorative yoga session in the evening. Restorative yoga allows for a decrease in anxiety, improvement in sleep quality, and increased flexibility. With its supported poses, deep relaxation, and conscious breathing, this type of yoga provides a moment of profound relaxation.

6th day

Breakfast, vegetarian lunch, and dinner included. You will leave early in the morning (to enjoy the tranquility of the place) with Made and his team to Tirta Empul Temple and its sacred spring, renowned for its healing properties. It’s a major Hindu pilgrimage site for Balinese Hindus. Located in a lush natural setting, the spring emerges from the water. Balinese people come to this temple to perform

I would have liked to do a bit more yoga (like yin yoga in the evening, for example) and I would have preferred that the last accommodation, which was really nice, be closer to Ubud. Since it was the low season, we only had one shuttle per day to go to Ubud. The retreat is very well planned. Combining the retreat with island visits is ideal because Bali is far away! The retreat was more spiritual than “yoga,” but discovering Balinese philosophy was very interesting, especially with Made, a captivating and charming character. We had very special moments, especially during the purification ceremony, it was magical. I also appreciated that the Amanaska agency was present throughout the stay: Sandrine, our contact person, really cared about making our stay perfect in every aspect.

The retreat is based more on yogi philosophy and Balinese culture. Depending on the groups, the practice of yoga can be intensified. However, the journey remains inspiring and it transforms us. It’s a meaningful experience that allows for complete immersion in Balinese culture. We participate in authentic and meaningful activities in small groups, which truly transport us to another world and allow us to let go. To top it off, the team is incredibly kind and attentive.

I didn’t dislike anything really. I think it’s important to really listen to ourselves and not hesitate to take time for ourselves, not to force ourselves to do activities if we prefer to stay in solitary introspection. The place is magical, the activities were very well organized and interesting. I got to experience authentic yoga in a very relaxing environment and ambiance. Very conducive to introspection. Thanks to Sandrine for her availability and attentive listening before, during, and after the retreat. Beautiful encounters marked this week of unforgettable moments.

It’s difficult to blend the two cultures. For us Westerners, it’s tough to grasp certain concepts and advice, and vice versa.
The life philosophies are very distant.
I was wondering how to apply these advice once back to the Western reality. I loved discovering Balinese culture, Hindu philosophy. The retreat location was perfect to reconnect, relax, be close to nature.
I think we were privileged compared to all those experiences lived in that setting with a small group, privately. I’m thinking of Tirta Empul, Balinese dance, the purification ceremony at the temple, and so on.

This was a spiritual and human experience. It was an excellent way to reconnect with our consciousness, human nature, and nature itself. This experience will give you a renewed appreciation for the simple things and an energetic zest for life. The site is truly magical, and the group is incredible. MADé is a brilliant and exceptional individual who instills confidence by embracing mindfulness. Away from it all, this “house of happiness” retreat is a must to find a new balance. MADé is like a Yoda who will introduce you to the authentic Yoga of Bali. The island of offerings and Balinese culture will leave you with a radiant smile etched in your memory, and it provides a gateway and path to the heart and joy. Don’t hesitate to go!

Everything was perfect for me. If you want to discover the spiritual, cultural, and human side of Bali, with the added bonus of a attentive yoga teacher (a beginner myself), I highly recommend this retreat without any hesitation!

I’m not very good at expressing what I experienced because it was so powerful, I think you have to live it to understand.

Thank you to Madé for his wisdom, for everything…
Sandrine and Frédérique, thank you for your guidance, your listening ear, and your discreet presence.

The service in the last 3 days of the program (at the hom retreat hotel) was, in my opinion, too long and often had issues with the food, either not ripe enough or not in stock. But the 100% retreat itself – its energy, nature, the attentiveness, the classes, the experiences, the culture – I loved everything about it, from beginning to end.
