Food

Food is essential and gives life-giving energy to our bodies. The quality and types of food we consume have an impact on our physical and mental well-being. According to yoga, food is more than just nutrition for our bodies. When practicing yoga, it is important to supplement our bodies with the right nutrients and consider the energetic aspect of our diet. Have you ever noticed how the food you eat affects your yoga practice? Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, teaches us about the impact of different foods on our overall well-being. According to Ayurveda, “Sattva” represents purity in both self-control and spiritual well-being, apparent through intelligence, virtue, awareness, and happiness. Sattvic foods promote purity of the mind and body. They nourish the mind, making it clear, compassionate, and calm, and sharpen the intellect. The Bhagavad-Gita describes the sattvic diet as light, easy-to-digest, and filled with purity or prana, fostering positive thoughts and mental satisfaction. Following this diet can help you stay alert, refreshed, and peaceful. During our courses, we follow the teachings of Ayurveda and provide students with tasty vegan meals three times a day. Our kitchen team members prepare the food with love and in a hygienic manner. The meals are served buffet-style, offering a variety of vegetarian dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Drinks are also included.

I didn’t have any specific dislikes, but the other attendees were surprised to see me. I was the only one attending a yoga retreat while they were all in yoga teacher training. Still, I had a great time because I came with a positive attitude and a thirst for learning. The staff at Bali Yoga School really impressed me with their politeness and helpfulness. They made me feel incredibly welcome. Even though I’m not vegan, I absolutely loved the food served at every meal. The fruits were incredibly sweet and the other dishes had such flavorful names.

I didn’t retreat; I spent five days doing it alone before joining a group of ten people to complete the 200 hours in one month. They had been doing yoga every day for two weeks already, aiming to become teachers, so their skill level was different from mine. It wasn’t relaxing because the goal of the 200 hours was to quickly acquire the degree, rather than enjoying the yoga practice as I had expected. Perhaps you should inform people wanting to do the retreat that they will be joining this kind of group. By the way, the place is fantastic, the staff is incredible, and the rooms are really nice.

The accommodation wasn’t great, and it was expensive for what it offered. It was loud and cramped, didn’t leave much space to relax and have privacy. The food was good, but it always felt like the same options. However, the teachers were excellent, and the people there were really nice, always there to help. Despite the minor drawbacks, everything went well overall.

The instructors were incredibly nice and had a positive approach. I learned a lot in just two weeks. The classes flowed smoothly and we had longer breaks to rest or relax after lunch. I highly recommend this place and the wonderful people working there. Everyone was friendly and helpful, making it a peaceful and relaxing environment. I am definitely coming back for another class when I am in Bali. Thank you for such a nice experience.

Sometimes, I would get hungry after finishing my meal portion. But no worries, I would just prepare some instant food instead. 🙂 I really love this school! Overall, I would rate it 9.5 out of 10.

    1. The accommodation was great – it was clean and cozy, and there was even a swimming pool surrounded by trees.
    2. Everyone was so friendly.
    3. The air was so fresh.
    4. The teachers were cool, supportive, and helpful.
    5. We got to do yoga all day long!

I highly recommend the 300hr Yoga Teacher training with Himalayan Yoga Ashram. Everything was amazing! They provided in-depth information and comprehensive classes on various topics like physical yoga practices, anatomy, yoga philosophy, meditation, breathing techniques, Mudra practice, and Ayurveda.

I was impressed by how they taught the anatomy classes. It was easy to understand and relate to the mechanics of the body. The feedback on assignments was constructive and encouraging, which helped me reflect on my development.

Completing the course not only deepened my knowledge but also increased my love and appreciation for yoga. It gave me the confidence to teach in a classroom setting and inspired me to continue practicing and learning on my yoga journey.

N.A. Himalayan Yoga Association offers a comprehensive and thorough teaching manual. You can watch the pre-recorded training videos at your convenience, wherever you are. The daily zoom live classes are great for understanding different aspects of yoga, and we can ask the teachers for further clarification. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to visit Rishikesh one day. Thank you for this amazing course, and a big shoutout to Saumya-ji.

I’m so grateful for this experience, thank you so much. I participated in the 300hr Online Yogateacher Training during November this year. It was a great experience for me. The Yoga Theorie liveclasses were very clear and systematic, and the information was just on point. I really enjoyed this month filled with Yoga. Surprisingly, I also connected with the other students in the course, and it felt like a small community. I did not expect this from an online training, so it was very pleasant. The practical live classes were also enjoyable, and I’m happy to have delved into Ashstanga Yoga. The small groups in this online yoga teacher training made it feel more private and less anonymous, allowing me to ask all my upcoming questions during the live classes. Thank you all so much, Bali Yoga School and HYA. Namaste.

My experience with the teachers was amazing. I learned a lot from Shanti ji, Ida ji, and Niki ji. I am so grateful to have met these beautiful souls in my life. Dewa ji made me feel at home. Because of the tropical weather, mosquitoes can be quite annoying, so don’t forget to bring mosquito spray. The school is really beautiful and conveniently located. The staff are all so friendly and helpful, and the teachers are super professional. The Balinese vegetarian meals are absolutely delicious, with different options every day. I had such a great time studying here that I’ll definitely be telling my friends to come too!

I felt a lack of protein in the meals since I’m not a vegetarian. It wasn’t enough for the physical effort required, so I personally lost a lot of weight, which in my case is not positive.

They should improve the cleanliness of the rooms, especially the areas with insects.

I would have liked to stay longer, but I will definitely come back. ??

The place is beautiful, the schedule is perfect, and the food is very good and well-presented.

The teachers are just amazing. They made me feel comfortable right away, and despite their young age, they have a perfect mastery of their work, both in theory and practice. Neelam Ji is funny and passionate. Durgesh Ji is calm and soothing. Rahul Ji is very professional and patient, and last but not least, Ankit Ji, my favorite teacher, is fun and challenging. He brings a breath of fresh air to the class. Thank you all four for your kindness, patience, and the passion you put into your work. I won’t hesitate to repeat the experience with the same teachers. ❤️?

The mosquitoes there have evolved. You should bring long yoga pants for class because spray isn’t going to help much ? I absolutely loved the alignment, Vinyasa, and Ashtanga classes. Ankit ji and Rahul ji are both so professional and knowledgeable. They really exceeded my expectations. I want to give a special thanks to Durgesh ji and Dewa ji for taking such good care of all the students. The accommodation was lovely and the staff were incredibly welcoming. I especially loved the local family that lived next to us. It made me feel like a local myself. This was also my first time switching to a vegetarian diet, but the food was so delicious and there were so many options. It actually helped me lower my fat and build muscle. I read previously that the program had undergone dramatic changes in terms of its food and syllabus. I did my program in January, and I know they have changed the location and food now, but it didn’t meet my expectations. The food was mostly high in carbs and didn’t seem very nutritious. I have celiacs and was assured that they could accommodate my dietary needs, but unfortunately, they didn’t seem to understand what ‘gluten free’ truly meant. As a result, I got sick frequently. Additionally, there seemed to be a disconnect between the goals of the students and the goals of the teachers. Based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend this training to 300-hour students. However, I did appreciate the opportunity to spend time doing yoga.

The school provided a very disorganized and unprofessional experience with a very poor level of teaching. The classes didn’t even add up to 200 hours and the tutors were consistently late, which made students lose motivation and also show up late themselves. There was even a class cancellation because of rain, even though it was the rainy season! This resulted in even shorter hours of instruction.

The yoga classes were just regular yoga classes and we weren’t really taught how to actually teach yoga, except for two sequencing lessons. What’s even more alarming is that we weren’t assessed on our yoga teaching abilities or even asked to teach yoga.

A significant number of students missed numerous classes, maybe around 40%, and yet still managed to pass and become “qualified yoga teachers.”

To make things worse, there were five teacher changes without any warning or explanation. The tutors for the Astanga class, meditation class, alignment class, and pranayama class all changed back and forth. It was quite confusing for everyone involved.

On top of all of that, I personally witnessed two instances where another student broke down and cried because they had complained to the management about the issues at the school.

The food provided was terrible – basic and flavorless, with never enough to satisfy us.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I truly believe that this school not only offers a very poor experience for students who pay a significant amount of money, but it is also potentially dangerous since it qualifies people who aren’t ready to teach yoga.

Honestly, I think this is a terrible school that was set up solely to make money. It’s hard to find anything positive to say about it, as almost every aspect was a disappointment. The only things I liked were the pool at the accommodation, which was quite nice, and the manager of the accommodation who was very helpful. I could tell she was embarrassed about the low quality of food that was suggested by the yoga school. Most of the other students’ accommodations were pleasant, but my friend and I were placed separately and our rooms had a lot of mold. When I checked out, I discovered that some of my clothes had mold on them as well. However, the manager was very helpful and promptly got them cleaned.

The school lacked organization and professionalism, which resulted in a subpar level of teaching for a 200-hour qualification. Throughout the course, tutors were changed five times, and they were young and inexperienced in teaching teachers. Furthermore, the tutors often arrived late, causing students to also arrive late. The management of this school was unprofessional, as they did not administer an exam on how to teach yoga. Instead, the yoga classes focused solely on practicing yoga, without teaching the methods of delivering a class as a teacher.

The food provided was of extremely poor quality, and some students managed to receive a certificate despite missing several classes. Additionally, the excursions were not in the locations advertised on the website, and students had to pay for them, even though they were supposed to be included in the package. It is evident that this school prioritizes making money over providing quality education or ensuring a high standard of teaching.

The owner of the school was unhelpful and difficult to approach. He spent an excessive amount of time with one particular student, calling into question his credibility as a yoga teacher and as a professional manager of a yoga school. On a positive note, Ubud is a lovely place to visit.

However, Durgesh, Dewa, Ankit, and Rahul were wonderful individuals who did their best to address the numerous issues plaguing the school.

Anatomy and Philosophy classes are poorly organized. I can just Google the information and watch YouTube videos, which are even clearer than what the teacher says. For example, the notes mention the 5 Kleshas, but I can find the exact information on the website, and they only briefly mention the 7 chakras.

One of the meditation teachers suddenly left and only left a message through WhatsApp. We only found out from another teacher without any official notice. There is no backup or contingency plan if a teacher gets sick. They just expect us to study on our own. What would happen if the teacher got sick for a few days?

We had to change the pranayama teacher in the middle of the course and then changed again. There was no communication between these teachers, so they didn’t know what the other teacher had already taught.

I came to Bali to learn how to be a teacher, but we didn’t have much time for teaching practice. We didn’t come here to practice yoga, as we can do that in our home country. The school should provide guidance on teaching yoga for us to practice, not just practicing yoga ourselves.

The school grouped all the students from different hour programs together, and we almost learned the same things. They should separate the students according to their yoga level in different classes.

It’s disorganized, and what I’ve learned is not enough to become a teacher. The lead trainer was unable to effectively lead the course.

The food was monotonous and lacked variety.

Ankit and Rahul are very young but have a passion for teaching, especially Rahul. He is willing to spend extra time teaching advanced poses to students.

The course coordinator, Deva, did his best to fix the problems and take action.

I was really disappointed with the training overall. I expected to learn a lot more practical teaching knowledge, but I feel like I didn’t learn much at all. Some of the teachers seemed inexperienced and lacked training on how to actually teach others, even though they had great personal practice. It was also frustrating that there was very little structure or coordination between the teachers when it came to the content or theme of the training. It felt like we didn’t get what the syllabus promised.

Another issue was that many participants were inexperienced, so we had to spend a lot of time on basic things. The whole experience felt more like a retreat than a proper yoga teacher training. It was also disappointing that they combined the 100hr, 200hr, and 300hr classes together. The 300 hour program was basically the same as the 200 hour, and we did almost every class together. If I had paid for the 300 hour program, I would have been really upset.

The management and scheduling of the program were also a mess. It lacked depth and structure overall. While I believe that each of the instructors are good-hearted people, I don’t feel like I got my money’s worth at all.

Additionally, the “included excursions” were misleading. They only provided transportation, and we had to pay for everything else once we arrived. There was very little communication about this beforehand. On the positive side, the accommodation was nice and the food was good and healthy. The instructors were all young but kind-hearted people.

The Philosophy classes didn’t have as much discussion as I expected, and the Anatomy classes lacked practical knowledge. The course seemed to focus more on self-development than teaching others.

I had some communication issues right from the start. I had booked private accommodation and confirmed through email, but when I arrived, I was told I had to share for a night. I ended up finding another place to stay, so I didn’t have to share, but it was annoying.

The program was also poorly managed. Classes often started late because the teacher was late, and some classes were even canceled without any backup plans. When I gave feedback, some teachers took it seriously and made improvements, while others made me feel like a troublemaker, which was disappointing.

The food was good for the first week, but then it became repetitive. Also, be prepared for Thursday afternoons and Sundays off, as well as dealing with lots of mosquitoes.

Our Vinyasa teacher, Rahul Ji, was amazing. He had so much energy and was passionate about sharing his knowledge. His classes were my favorite. Ankit Ji’s alignment classes were clear and detailed, and he made sure we understood everything. I liked how he added some theory to his practical classes. Aylan Ji taught us Pranayama, and her classes were well-delivered. Her journey in yoga was also inspiring. Durgesh Ji’s meditation classes were exceptional. They were well-structured, explained, and enjoyable.

We had different teachers for Meditation, Alignment, Pranayama, and Ashtanga, which was a great way to experience different teaching styles.

We stayed at Puri Suksma, which was a lovely place surrounded by nature. There were visits from monkeys and squirrels, and I saw different types of ants and butterflies. It felt like living in a National Geographic documentary.

I met incredible people from all over the world and learned so much from them. Completing this program helped me make new friends, become more aware of my body, discover new aspects of myself, and become a better yoga practitioner. I’m truly grateful for that.

The food remained the same every day. Some of the classes lacked clarity on who had already taught, who hadn’t, and the skill level of individuals. As a result, they started from scratch regardless of whether someone was already an instructor with 200 hours of experience. We practiced a lot, but there was no instruction on how to structure a class or create a cohesive flow. And when we asked the teacher about it, they seemed shocked that we expected such guidance in a ‘teacher training’ course. While I did gain knowledge about philosophy during the 4 weeks, I didn’t get a chance to actually teach a yoga class. I’ll need to do more research on how to structure a class since it wasn’t covered in our training. The teachers were nice, but the classes lacked any structure.

I really wish the school would provide coffee for our afternoon/before lunch class. It would help with the tiredness from our morning exercises and improve our concentration. I love how this experience brings me back to simplicity, especially in terms of my mind, expectations, resources, food, and finding relaxing spots.

I’m so grateful for all the hard work and preparation the teachers have put into this. I learned so much from Rahul Ji and Ankit Ji’s yoga asanas, Aylan Ji’s teaching on different breathing techniques, and Durgesh Ji’s meditation sessions. It feels like I’ve been here for a long time and I don’t want to leave.

I personally stayed at the retreat for 7 days and let me tell you, Dewa and his wife were exceptional hosts. They went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. The guest house was absolutely charming, and the pool was delightful. The accommodation is located in Ubud, but to get to the center or a proper supermarket, you usually need a taxi because the accommodation is slightly secluded. The teachers were awesome, they were passionate about everything. The single rooms were spacious and generous, with their own shower and toilet, which were cleaned daily by the staff. The food was always punctual and served with love, mostly vegan and gluten-free 🙂

First of all, I was emailed the address of a new location within Bali at the last moment. It was late at night when I arrived, and I had difficulty finding the new place. I also had trouble finding a phone number for the course leaders online. To my terrible surprise, the place I arrived at was not the same as the one in the pictures on the retreat ad. The pictures were very misleading, causing distress for not just me, but the whole group. I was shocked since I had traveled so far and already paid my deposit online. I even considered leaving. The accommodations were unsatisfactory and the yoga shala wasn’t any better. This really affected my initial impression of the YYT and their staff, making them lose credibility. The negative feelings and vibes continued for a while during the training. However, we discussed the issues as a group with the course leader, and they were resolved by changing accommodations and having morning practices in a much nicer yoga shala a few times a week. The food started off great with lots of variety, but then the presentation and variation declined. The cleanliness of all areas was also unsatisfactory. It was unfortunate that we had to go through such disorder and unprofessional management at the beginning of our journey to become Yoga Certified Trainers.

Now, speaking of Bali, it truly is a special place. The people there are warm and always have a smile on their faces. As for the YTT, I have to say that the instructors made it all worthwhile. Their deep knowledge and positive energy helped me get through the strict yet rewarding schedule. I want to give a special thanks to Guru Pradeep Ji. His way of explaining postures and alignment is clear and in-depth. His expertise, along with the information and energy from the other teachers, made the course completely worth its value. Moreover, the delicious vegetarian meals were one of the highlights. And let me tell you, the experience of being in a group with people you just met is truly heartwarming. The moments and experiences shared during the short yet intense course with all the amazing people there are unforgettable and priceless.

We just completed the 200-hour TT with Bali Yoga School, which is associated with the Himalayan Yoga Association in Rishikesh, India. We were looking for a yoga school that could give us authentic knowledge of yoga, and the teaching staff at this school did an incredible job of doing just that throughout the course.

Every day, we would start our mornings with Shatkarama (cleansing process), followed by Ashtanga yoga led by the fantastic teacher Pradeep ji. He has extensive knowledge of yoga anatomy and alignment, and his expertise in yoga science was evident in the instructions we received during our time at the school. Over the four weeks, we learned three new asanas each day and gradually progressed through the Primary series of Ashtanga Yoga.

The best part of the day was the meditation and philosophy sessions, taught by the humble Johsan ji. He covered in-depth topics with a lighthearted approach, making it easy for all of us to understand.

Cinthia’s Vinyasa flow classes were also great. She provided valuable information on sequencing and teaching cues, and most importantly, she encouraged everyone to teach, which made the practical assessment component of the training much more enjoyable.

Our rooms were equipped with hot water, air conditioning, a communal pool, and a study area for our night-time sessions. The food, provided by a caterer organized by the yoga school, was overall great, especially the breakfast. All meals were vegetarian and gluten-free.

In conclusion, it’s a fantastic school! – Minal and Hesh

The teachers at this yoga school are absolutely the most positive aspect. They are lovely individuals full of energy, passion, and dedication. They have an incredible ability to motivate the students and possess a wealth of knowledge. They genuinely enjoy sharing their expertise and spending time with new yogis. They are always smiling and willing to provide any kind of assistance. They truly inspired me and gave me the strength to continue on this path and remain focused. Each person in the school shared a piece of their soul, and I have countless beautiful memories from the time spent with fellow students and all the teachers. I feel grateful to have discovered such a wonderful, supportive community. Thank you, teachers, you are simply amazing!

The food was good, but as a vegan, I sometimes had limited choices. Towards the end of the course, they started understanding how to improve our food options. I hope they take that knowledge on board for the benefit of future vegan students. By the way, I’m actually English, not from the States.

I was impressed by how adaptable the teachers were to our requests for altered schedules that suited our needs. Dewa did a fantastic job organizing our Sunday sightseeing trips, making our stay even more memorable in many ways. Their philosophy was to ensure we had an amazing experience. I also have to mention Cynthia, our Ashtanga flow teacher – she was awesome! She had incredible knowledge, was approachable, and made the classes so much fun!

Food

Food is an essential part of our lives and gives us the energy we need to keep going. The kind of food we eat affects our body and mind. When it comes to practicing yoga, food is more than just fuel for our bodies. It’s important to think about the nutrients and energy that our food provides.

Have you ever noticed how the food you eat affects your yoga practice? Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, teaches us about the impact of different foods on our overall well-being. According to Ayurveda, “Sattva” represents purity in both mind and body. Sattvic foods promote this purity and help nourish our minds, making them clear, compassionate, and calm. They also sharpen our intellect and foster positive thoughts.

Following a sattvic diet can make you feel alert, refreshed, and peaceful. That’s why, during our yoga courses, we provide students with delicious vegan meals three times a day. Our experienced and loving kitchen team prepares the food hygienically and with care. You can enjoy unlimited buffet-style meals with various vegetarian dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I didn’t really dislike anything specific, just that everyone else was surprised when they saw me at the yoga retreat. Turns out I was the only one there for a yoga retreat while everyone else was doing yoga teacher training. But despite that, I had a great time because I stayed positive and had a thirst for learning. The staff at Bali Yoga School really left an impression on me – they were incredibly polite and helpful. They made me feel so welcome. And let me tell you, even though I’m not a vegan, the food they served at every meal was absolutely delicious. The fruits were sweet and the other dishes had these cool, catchy names.

I didn’t go on a retreat. I did it by myself for 5 days, and then I joined a group of 10 people who were doing the 200 hours in one month. They had been doing yoga every day for two weeks already because they wanted to become teachers, so their level was different from mine. It wasn’t a relaxing experience at all. The purpose of the 200 hours was to learn quickly and get the certification, rather than enjoying the practice of yoga like I had expected. Maybe they should let people know that they’ll be joining this kind of group when they sign up for the retreat. But I have to say, the place is really amazing, the staff is fantastic, and the rooms are really nice.

I highly recommend the 300hr Yoga Teacher Training with Himalayan Yoga Ashram. Everything was amazing! The course provided comprehensive and in-depth information on various topics including physical yoga practices, anatomy classes, yoga philosophy, meditation, breathing techniques, Mudra practice, and Ayurveda.

I was really impressed with how much I learned during the course. The teachers were knowledgeable and the discussions were detailed. They taught us from a traditional viewpoint, which was very refreshing compared to mainstream yoga.

The anatomy classes were particularly helpful. They gave me a solid foundation on how the body mechanics work in a way that was easy to understand. It was much better than just learning without really understanding.

The feedback on the assignments was also great. It was constructive and encouraging, which helped me reflect on my own development.

After completing the course, my love and appreciation for yoga grew even stronger. Not only did it prepare me for teaching in a classroom setting, but it also gave me more confidence. It inspired me to keep learning, practicing, and embracing the path of yoga.

Our daily zoom live classes help us grasp different yoga topics better, and we can ask the teachers to clear up any doubts we have. I really hope to visit Rishikesh someday. Thank you so much for this amazing experience! I had the opportunity to participate in the 300hr Online Yogateacher Training this November and it was truly incredible. The Yoga Theorie live classes were extremely clear and organized, providing just the right amount of information. I had such a blast immersing myself in a whole month full of Yoga.

I was pleasantly surprised by the sense of community that developed among the other students in the course. Despite it being an online training, we were able to connect and support each other like a small, tight-knit group. It was such a pleasant surprise.

The practical live classes were my absolute favorite. I couldn’t be happier about delving into Ashstanga Yoga. The online yoga teacher training felt personal and intimate due to the small class sizes, making it easy for me to ask any questions I had during the live classes.

Once again, a huge thank you to Bali Yoga School and HYA for this incredible opportunity. Namaste!

Since I’m not a vegetarian, I felt a lack of protein in the meals. It wasn’t enough for the physical effort required, and as a result, I personally lost a lot of weight, which is not positive in my case.

They should clean the rooms better, especially the areas with insects.

I would have loved to stay longer, but I will definitely come back. ??

The place is beautiful, the schedule is perfect, and the food is amazing.

The teachers are simply incredible. They made me feel comfortable right away, and despite their young age, you can tell they have a perfect mastery of their work, whether in theory or in practice. Neelam Ji is funny and passionate. Durgesh Ji is calm and soothing. Rahul Ji is very professional and patient, and lastly, Ankit Ji, my favorite teacher, is entertaining and challenging. He brings a breath of fresh air to the classroom. Thank you all four for your kindness, patience, and the passion you put into your work. I won’t hesitate to have the same experience with the same teachers again. ❤️?

I read previous reviews and noticed that the program had undergone significant changes in terms of food and syllabus. I completed the program in January and since then, they have changed the location and food. However, it didn’t turn out to be what I had expected. The food they provided was high in carbs and didn’t seem very nutritious. Despite being assured that they could accommodate my celiac condition, there was clearly a lack of understanding about what ‘gluten-free’ meant. As a result, I fell ill frequently. Additionally, I felt a disconnect between the goals of the students and the teachers. In my opinion, this training is not recommended for those pursuing the 300-hour certification. On a positive note, one thing I did enjoy was the opportunity to spend time practicing yoga!

The school delivered a very poor level of teaching and lacked organization and professionalism. The classes provided did not add up to 200 hours, and the tutors were consistently late, which demotivated the students. Some classes were even cancelled due to rain, further reducing the hours. We were not adequately taught how to teach yoga, with only 2 sequencing lessons. Surprisingly, we were not assessed on our teaching skills.

Despite missing numerous classes, many students still passed and became “qualified yoga teachers.” The school had multiple teacher changes without any warning or explanation. I witnessed a student sobbing because she had complained to management about a tutor.

The food provided was terrible, basic, and flavorless. It was never enough to satisfy everyone. I usually don’t write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience. This school not only offers a poor experience for its students, who pay a significant amount of money, but it is also potentially dangerous as it qualifies people who are not ready to teach yoga.

Overall, I strongly believe this school is simply set up to make money. It was difficult to find anything to like about it as almost every aspect was a disappointment. The only positives were the nice pool at the accommodation and the helpful manager. However, our rooms had a lot of mold, and some clothes were affected too. The manager promptly got them cleaned, but it was still an inconvenience.

The school lacked organization and professionalism, which affected the quality of teaching for a 200-hour qualification. The tutors changed five times during the course and were inexperienced in teaching teachers. They often arrived late, causing students to be late as well. The management of the school was unprofessional, as they didn’t conduct any examination on teaching yoga. The yoga classes only focused on practicing yoga, with no emphasis on how to deliver a class as a teacher. The food provided was of extremely poor quality. Surprisingly, some students who missed multiple classes still received a certificate at the end of the course. The excursions were not as advertised on the website, and students had to pay for them despite being included in the package. It seems that this school prioritizes making money rather than providing education or ensuring a high standard of teaching. The owner was unhelpful and difficult to approach, as they spent too much time with one particular student. This raises doubts about their qualifications as a yoga teacher and a professional manager of a yoga school. However, Ubud is still a lovely place to visit. Despite the numerous problems, Durgesh, Dewa, Ankit, and Rahul were the only redeeming factors, as they tried their best to address the issues at the school.

The Anatomy and Philosophy classes lack organization. I can easily find clearer information on Google and YouTube compared to what the teacher tells us. They barely mention anything about the 5 Kleshas in their notes, but I can find all the information I need on the website. They also only briefly touch on the 7 chakras.

One of our meditation teachers suddenly disappeared and only left a message on WhatsApp. We had to rely on another teacher for updates without any official notice. There is no backup plan in case a teacher gets sick. They just expect us to study on our own. What would happen if the teacher is absent for a few days?

They changed our pranayama teacher in the middle of the course and then changed again. There was no communication between these teachers, so they didn’t know what the other had already taught.

I came to Bali to learn how to be a teacher, but we didn’t have enough time for teaching practice. We didn’t come here to just practice yoga, as we could do that back in our home countries. The school should provide opportunities for us to practice teaching, not just practice yoga.

The school grouped students from the 100 hours, 200 hours, 300 hours, and 500 hours courses together, and we all learned almost the same thing. They should separate us into different classes based on our yoga level.

It’s disorganized, and what I’ve learned is not enough to become a teacher. The lead trainer is unable to effectively guide the course.

The food offered at the school is repetitive and lacks variety.

Ankit and Rahul, despite being young, have a strong passion for teaching. Rahul, in particular, is willing to spend extra time teaching students advanced poses.

The course coordinator, Deva, has been doing his best to address the issues and take action.

I found the training to be quite disappointing. I had hoped to learn more practical teaching knowledge, but I feel like I didn’t learn much at all. Some of the teachers seemed inexperienced and lacked training on how to teach others effectively. There was also a lack of structure and coordination between the teachers, and it felt like we didn’t receive what was promised in the syllabus. Additionally, many of the participants were inexperienced, so we had to spend a lot of time on basic things. Overall, it felt more like a retreat than a yoga teacher training. I was also disappointed that the 300-hour program was essentially the same as the 200-hour program, with little differentiation. The management and scheduling were disorganized as well. I believe all the instructors are good people, but I didn’t feel like I got my money’s worth. The “included excursions” only covered transportation, and there was little communication about additional costs. On the positive side, the accommodations were nice and the food was good and nutritious. Despite the issues, the instructors were all young but kind-hearted people.

The Philosophy classes didn’t have as much discussion as I expected, and the Anatomy classes lacked practical knowledge. The focus of the course seemed to be more on self-development than teaching others.

I had some issues with communication right from the start. I had booked private accommodation and confirmed it through email, but when I arrived, I was told I had to share for a night. Thankfully, I found another place to stay for that night and didn’t have to share. Still, I wasn’t happy about the mix-up.

The program was also poorly managed. Classes often started late because the teacher was late, and some classes were even cancelled without any backup plans due to teacher illness or bad weather. When I gave my feedback, some teachers took it seriously and made improvements, but others made me feel like I was causing trouble. I didn’t appreciate that.

The food was good at first, but it became repetitive after a week. Expect to have Thursday afternoons and Sundays off, but be prepared for a lot of mosquitoes.

Our Vinyasa teacher, Rahul Ji, was amazing. He had so much energy and was really passionate about sharing his knowledge of yoga. I loved his classes. We also learned a lot about traditional adjustment techniques from him, which was really fun to try on each other. Ankit Ji’s alignment classes were clear and detailed, and he always made sure we understood everything. I liked how he added some theory to his practical Ashtanga classes. Aylan Ji taught us Pranayama and her classes were delivered beautifully. Her journey in yoga was very inspiring. Durgesh Ji’s meditation classes were exceptional. They were well-structured, explained thoroughly, and really enjoyable.

It was great to have different teachers for Meditation, Alignment, Pranayama, and Ashtanga. It gave us the opportunity to experience different teaching styles.

We stayed at Puri Suksma, which was surrounded by nature. It was a beautiful place to practice and study yoga. We even had visits from monkeys and squirrels. I saw so many different types of ants and butterflies, it felt like living in a National Geographic documentary.

I met some amazing people from all over the world and learned so much from them. Completing this program helped me make new friends, become more aware of my body, discover new aspects of myself, and become a better yoga practitioner. I’m truly grateful for this experience.

The food was the same every day, and they served it repeatedly without any variation. Some classes were pointless because there was no clear understanding of who had already taught or what level people were at. It was frustrating because they would start from the beginning for everything, even for those who already had experience teaching and had completed 200 hours of training. We did a lot of practice, but they never taught us how to structure a class or put a flow together. It was disappointing when we asked the teacher about it because they seemed shocked to think that we were on a ‘teacher training’ course. Although I gained knowledge about philosophy, we were there for 4 weeks and I never got a chance to actually teach a yoga class. I will have to do more research on how to structure a class on my own since it was something we were not taught. The teachers were nice, but the lack of structure in the classes was quite noticeable.

I wish the school would provide coffee for afternoon/before lunch class. It would help with the tiredness from morning exercises and improve concentration. I love how this experience makes everything feel simpler – the mind, expectations, resources, and especially food and relaxing locations. I really appreciate all the hard work and preparation the teachers have put in. I had a great time learning Yoga Asanas from Rahul Ji and Ankit Ji, Types of Breathing from Aylan Ji, and Meditation from Durgesh Ji. It feels like I’ve been here for a while and I don’t want to leave.

The program should have included more yoga/meditation. Not everything matched what was announced. It lacked variation and flexibility in day trips.

Finding Bali yoga school was difficult because it has two different locations. One is for teacher training and the other is Dewa’s place, which is for short retreats. So, make sure you ask for directions. I stayed at Dewa’s retreat for seven days and I have to say, he and his wife were absolutely amazing hosts. They were always ready to help and nothing was too much trouble for them. The guest house was charming and the pool was lovely. The massages by Mini were so refreshing and the yoga classes led by Cynthia and Armin were just perfect. If you’re in need of a break from all the chaos, this place has everything you need.

I think vinyasa classes could be improved, and the teaching style in particular. I really enjoyed Pradeep’s classes and his meditation techniques.

Non. Je suis satisfait de tout. Nous formions une famille avec un petit groupe, nous avions un enseignement de qualité et des logements réservés exclusivement aux étudiants. Nous avions nos repas ensemble sur place, ce qui créait une immersion totale.

We had a few problems due to lack of communication between the people in charge of the accommodation and us, but they weren’t major. The teachers knew a lot and gave us everything we needed for the course. The location was incredible – we felt like we were separate from the busy streets with a small temple right next door, yet still close enough to get everything we needed in Ubud. The food exceeded my expectations. Towards the end, it got a bit repetitive, but it was always fresh and there was plenty of it, so I’m really thankful for that.

The location of the accommodation is in Ubud, but to get to the center or a proper supermarket, you usually need a taxi because the accommodation is somewhat secluded. The teachers were super, they were dedicated to everything, and the single rooms with their own shower and toilet were spacious and generous, which the staff cleaned daily. The food was always served on time and lovingly prepared, mostly vegan and gluten-free 🙂

First of all, I got an email with the address of a new location in Bali at the last moment. When I arrived late at night, it was tough to find the new place and I had trouble finding a phone number for the course leaders online. To my terrible surprise, the place I ended up at was completely different from the pictures on the retreats ad. The pictures were so misleading and it caused a lot of distress for not just me, but the entire group. I was in shock because I had traveled a long way and already paid my deposit online. I really thought about just leaving. The accommodations were really unsatisfactory and the yoga space wasn’t any better. It ruined my initial impression of the whole Yoga Training Program and the staff, making them lose credibility. The bad vibes continued for some time. We talked about the issues as a group with the course leader and then they fixed things by changing our accommodations and giving us better yoga practices a few times a week at a nicer space. The food started off really good and varied, but then it got worse in presentation and variety. The cleanliness of all areas was also not up to par. It was such a shame that we had to go through this lack of organization and unprofessional management at the beginning of our beautiful journey to becoming Certified Yoga Trainers.

Now, let me tell you about Bali. It truly is an extraordinary place. The people there are so warm and always have a smile on their faces. As for the Yoga Training Program, I have to say that the instructors made it all worthwhile. Their deep knowledge and great energy helped me get through each day, even though the schedule was strict but rewarding. I want to give a special thanks to Guru Pradeep Ji. He has a clear and in-depth way of explaining postures and alignment. His expertise, along with the other teachers’ knowledge and energy, made the course truly valuable. The tasty vegetarian meals were also a highlight. But the best part was the experience of being in a group with people I had just met. The moments and experiences we shared during the short but intense course are unforgettable and truly priceless.

Minal and Hesh, we just completed the 200hour TT with Bali Yoga school, which is associated with the Himalayan Yoga Association in Rishikesh, India. We were on the lookout for a yoga school that could provide us with genuine knowledge of yoga, and the teaching staff truly surpassed our expectations.

Every day, we would kick-start our mornings with Shatkarama (cleansing process), followed by Ashtanga yoga taught by an incredible teacher named Pradeep ji. He possesses in-depth knowledge of yoga anatomy and alignment. His expertise in yoga science was clearly apparent in the instructions he gave us throughout our time at the school. Over the four weeks, we learned three new asanas every day and gradually progressed through the Primary series of Ashtanga Yoga.

The highlight of our day was the meditation and philosophy sessions with Johsan ji. He is such a humble individual who taught us profound subjects with a touch of lightheartedness, making it easy for all of us to comprehend.

Cinthia’s Vinyasa flow classes were fantastic. She provided us with valuable information on sequencing and teaching cues. Most importantly, she encouraged all of us to teach, which made the practical assessment part of the Training much more enjoyable.

Our rooms were equipped with hot water, air conditioning, and a communal pool. We also had a designated study area for nighttime studying. The food, catered by a professional arranged by the yoga school, was exceptional. The vegetarian and gluten-free meals, especially breakfast, were great.

    Overall, this school is outstanding!

The teachers at this yoga school are the most positive aspect. They are lovely individuals who are full of energy, passion, and dedication. They know how to motivate the students, possess a wealth of knowledge, and love sharing and spending time with new yogis. They are always smiling and willing to provide any kind of help. They truly inspired me and provided me with the strength to continue on this path and remain focused. Each person gave me a piece of their soul, and I have numerous cherished memories from the time spent with fellow students and all the teachers. I am grateful to have discovered a new, wonderful family. Thank you, teachers, you are simply amazing!

The food at the course was good, but as a vegan, I sometimes had limited choices. However, towards the end, they began to understand how they could improve our food options. Hopefully, they will take this knowledge on board for the benefit of future vegan students. By the way, I’m actually from England, not the States. ?

I was impressed by the teachers’ adaptability in adjusting the schedules to suit our needs. Dewa, who organized our Sunday sightseeing trips, did a great job. He went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable in various ways. Their main goal was to provide us with an amazing experience. I also want to mention Cynthia, our Ashtanga flow teacher. She was awesome – incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and lots of fun. ?
