The art of teaching – Training immersion in Indonesia

In a conversational tone, let me tell you that lifelong students make the best teachers. When it comes to teaching yoga, it’s not just about knowing stuff and sharing it. No, it goes beyond that. You have to really commit to your own practice and live what you preach. And guess what? You also need to keep yourself updated with the latest insights on the body, mind, and culture.

Teaching yoga doesn’t just ask you to know things, it also encourages you to approach it with an open mind, just like a beginner. But hey, don’t forget to have confidence in yourself because you can make a difference in other people’s lives and even earn a living by doing it. It’s a delicate mix of knowledge, heart, and creativity that turns teaching yoga into an art.

And you know what? Samyama believes in that art and they want you to be a part of it. They’re here to help you refine your unique teaching style. So come on in, join them, and let’s master this beautiful art of teaching yoga together.

The Art of Teaching is part of Samyama’s 300-hour advanced YTT course, which includes five modules that can be taken individually or together. The course supports yoga and meditation practitioners with teaching experience or those who have learned the basics of teaching yoga and want to start a new path. Whether you want to make yoga teaching your career or share it with your colleagues at work, this course is filled with information and experiential workshops to put what you learn into practice. Samyama focuses on mindfulness and personal development, allowing you to reflect on your life purpose, or ‘dharma,’ even if teaching isn’t your priority.

Program

If you’re in Bali, there will be a welcome circle on the evening before Day 1. This optional gathering lets you meet other participants, ask questions, and receive an orientation from the instructors. If you’re arriving in Bali just before the course starts, they’ll provide necessary orientation materials beforehand. Be ready to practice on the morning of Day 1. I sometimes felt like there wasn’t always room for questions and that the instructors were not always accessible.

There was a difference among the students. Some did not have 200YTT or teaching experience. The staff always had a smile, worked hard, and kept everything tidy. The toilets were checked multiple times a day. The beds were made every day and fresh towels and a fresh bed were provided twice a week.

I really enjoyed hearing the personal stories of the instructors, especially about the silence and kundalini/tantra retreat. I also loved the philosophy lectures, especially the ones about the nervous system, facia, Ayurveda, and PRANAYAMA!

I learned a lot about myself and had an inner journey with many new insights. Thank you for that! Overall, it was an amazing experience that I am very grateful for. The vision of Samyama was exactly what I was looking for – energetic work and teachings.

There’s nothing we could have changed. The humidity is constant, but at the same time, it makes the vegetation so beautiful. The people, the philosophy, and the real connections. The quality of education and food. We nourish both our minds and our stomachs. The location is close to everything.

I simply loved everything about it. I feel deeply grateful for having had the opportunity to experience this. It’s a time to meet, learn, and accept oneself. To be present in the here and now for four weeks. The teachers provided extremely personal and heartfelt guidance. The knowledge I gained about yoga has profound significance, of which I had no idea until Samyama. My deepest thanks for these life-changing experiences.

This experience truly changed my life. I had been practicing yoga for a while, but I had never met teachers who were so authentic, soulful, wise, skillful, and loving. Each teacher brought their own unique value and personality to the program, making it a transformative experience on many levels. I’m really impressed with how well they balanced all the elements of the training. They made time for theory, practice, deep self-inquiry, and even fun. You could really feel that these teachers truly embraced what they taught. Spending this month with them was an incredible learning experience, and I feel so grateful to have had the opportunity. Thank you!

The community that formed during the training was so supportive and inspiring, and it still continues even after the course ended.

I loved that the training took place outside of the busy streets, surrounded by rice paddies. It was the perfect setting, close enough to enjoy Ubud if you wanted to.

And let’s not forget about the amazing food. It was truly a treat!

I also appreciated having a driver waiting for me when I arrived in Bali. It made the whole experience even more convenient.

My experience at Samyama was even better than I could have ever imagined. The Yoga Teachers and the whole team at Samyama are a group of loving, compassionate people who truly embody the practice of Yoga on and off the mat. The accommodation and the three vegan meals a day added to the perfection of my 200-hour teacher training. The team takes care of everything, allowing you to fully focus on your yoga journey. My fellow classmates provided incredible support throughout my journey. I feel incredibly grateful to have discovered this oasis in the heart of the Balinese Paradise. I highly recommend it! I will definitely be returning next year for the 300-hour training to continue my spiritual growth alongside these amazing friends and community I found at Samyama. ??

I can’t believe it had to end! This retreat surpassed all my expectations in every way imaginable. The teachers became my gurus and took me on an indescribable spiritual journey. The whole experience was pure magic! It went way beyond just a yoga instructor training; it allowed me to grow physically, mentally, and spiritually. If only everyone could experience this course, the world would be so much better!

Rooms without AC have an issue with humidity, which can lead to mold growth. It would be fantastic if these rooms could be equipped with dehumidifiers immediately. The training and overall atmosphere surpassed any expectations I had. I’m incredibly grateful for this amazing experience!
