Serenity is a fantastic place to stay. The location is great and they offer super healthy and delicious food. The staff there are so friendly and nice, you always feel welcomed. Even when I got sick, they took care of me and supported me in getting well very quickly. The Yoga classes they offer are amazing too, every one I attended was great. I really appreciated everything and I had a wonderful time. I would definitely come back and recommend it to others.

I was originally in a single bedroom with a fan and it was way too hot. My “window” faced the shared bathroom inside, so no chance of getting some fresh air. After enduring 9 hot nights, a room with air conditioning became available and I was able to switch. There were construction works right behind the wall of my room all day long, until the end of my month there. I couldn’t enjoy my room (and the AC) during the day… the noise from the machines was unbearable. I had to shower with earplugs. And the workers were constantly going back and forth through my small terrace, where a chair was blocked to hang a sign saying “Thank you for your understanding of the inconvenience caused by the construction”. Other things bothered me like the springs in the mattress, the low water pressure in the shower, the hot water running out in just 3 minutes, the worn-out bath towels that didn’t smell fresh at all, the flooding in my room every morning after a night of rain… Instead of fixing the problem, I was asked by email to put all my belongings up high… If I had to do it again, I would only get the yoga pass and stay somewhere else.
PS: I was in the Yang room. The pool is small but very peaceful and surrounded by greenery.
The yoga classes were really good. It’s great to have the month pass and decide day by day what classes to attend.
The staff is extremely kind and helpful. From reception to the restaurant, security, gardeners, housekeeping… thank you to them for everything!
Very close to the beach, on a rather calm street. Very pleasant.

To be honest, absolutely nothing. Serenity is a truly magical place. It has a peaceful, gentle, and bright atmosphere. From the employees to the residents, everyone exudes genuine kindness. I truly had an idyllic week there. The yoga classes were interesting, spiritual, and challenging at the same time. The teachers were caring for everyone’s well-being, creating a true connection and interaction. There were plenty of classes to choose from, so everyone could find something they enjoyed. The breakfast was delicious and different every morning, with fresh and high-quality products. I also had dinner at the Guest House, and the cuisine was truly top-notch. The garden is a real paradise, despite being close to the lively life of Canggu. It feels like being in the jungle, full of trees and flowers, with local fauna like squirrels, birds, and small geckos. The spa and services offered are of impeccable quality, with attentive staff who are incredibly gentle. Finally, the Guest House is perfectly located; steps away from the beach and fabulous sunsets, and close to all necessary shops and services. I felt at home at Serenity. I will definitely go back. Thank you so much to everyone for this amazing stay.

I didn’t dislike anything – I loved everything there! The yoga classes at this place are the best in the world. My favorite was Hatha classes (also yin, power yoga, and sunset flow) with teacher Qino! Qino always gives clear instructions, makes appropriate adjustments, and offers different options for all levels. The yoga shalas and rooms are very clean. The cafe serves delicious, fresh food. Everyone who works there is very friendly. You’ll never be bored because there’s always a fun and friendly atmosphere! I will definitely return there again! I will miss you guys!

I didn’t like that they allow people to join class after it started. People who arrive late, sometimes 15 minutes or more, try to squeeze in between mats. It’s very disruptive and disrespectful to the yoga instructors and the rest of the class. Most places I’ve been to don’t allow it. I think this should be a rule.

I really enjoyed being there, the yoga instructors are amazing. I had classes with Diaz, Qino, and Yogi and they were fantastic. They bring great energy and are so friendly. The yoga was challenging but fun. The staff was very friendly and the place was beautiful, with lots of plants around the pool.

From the amazing location and the fantastic yoga classes, to the incredibly kind staff, it truly felt like a second home. In Canggu, you have so many options, but let me tell you, I found the best one! The staff here is amazing – they’re super friendly and hardworking. They clean the accommodations every day, make the beds, and provide fresh towels, even in the dorms. And let me tell you about the yoga classes – they have a great selection with some incredible and talented instructors. The community vibe here is so real, especially around the pool and lounge chairs. I honestly didn’t want to leave during my 12-night stay, except to hit the beach which is just a few minutes away on foot. I’ve decided that I will definitely be coming back here.

I stayed in a room that was essentially the common room, with people chatting away on the phone every night until late. The lack of windows only added to the extra heat in the room. But what made it really special was the range of classes on offer and the amazing community of fellow travelers.

They were doing some construction across the road which kind of disrupted the tranquility a bit, but it didn’t completely spoil the experience. I absolutely adore that place! It has such a peaceful atmosphere overall. The food there is incredibly nourishing, scrumptious, and reasonably priced. The yoga classes offer such a wide variety and the instructors are so skilled, while all the staff members are truly delightful. The noise coming from the nearby bars wasn’t really a problem in the end! The warmth, simplicity, and kindness that this place exudes.

It’s a haven of peace for me. I preferred the dorms for more socializing. The vegan meals, permaculture, staff, and property – I walked around barefoot all the time. The proximity to the beach and shops.

The yoga teachers are very professional and knowledgeable, especially Kemie, with whom I did a lot of inversion classes. They are all insightful.

The yoga rooms. The spa for massages and well-being. The pool, fruit and medicinal trees.

Thank you to the whole team, see you soon!

I wasn’t a big fan of Canggu, but that’s not the center’s fault. If you value privacy, make sure to book a room with a private bathroom. The option for single rooms without a bathroom is cheaper, but they are so small that they made me feel claustrophobic. The entire staff is incredibly friendly and they make a great effort to provide sustainable, local, and organic food. The restaurant and yoga classes are fantastic. If you’re into this type of travel, the dorms are spacious and comfortable. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, especially if you enjoy surfing because the spot is really close.

The noise around the premises is the only downside, but it’s not really their fault. We should mention that there’s a lot of construction going on, so some classes might get noisy. Oh, and if you stay at Seabreeze, there are roosters right outside, which can disturb light sleepers. In that case, it’s better to sleep at Serenity itself since it’s a bit quieter. But on the positive side, the yoga class selection was fantastic! All the teachers were amazing, and the staff was always smiley and helpful. Here’s the rewrite in active voice and conversational tone:

One thing that really upset me here was the cat situation. They just left a small kitten, the mom, and another kitten all alone. It was heartbreaking to see the mom die and leave her baby behind. Sometimes the poor little thing wouldn’t even get food, so me and some other girls took it upon ourselves to take care of them. But you know what? The yoga instructors are absolutely amazing!! I absolutely loved their classes. But you know what really stands out for me? The staff! Seriously, everyone at the reception, the cleaning crew, and the breakfast staff are the kindest and sweetest people ever. I’m seriously gonna miss them the most.

I loved my stay at Serenity. The staff was incredible and so friendly. I even got to meet the lovely owner who was super helpful when I was sick. The room and the bathroom could have been slightly better, but for what you pay, it’s still pretty good. Serenity in its entirety is a magical place. Just walking around feels so serene, despite being in busy Canggu. It’s right near the beach and has a strong focus on permaculture and healing herbal medicines, which I found to be a highlight. And let’s not forget the Alkaline cafe at Serenity – it had the best food of my trip! Being able to get alkaline water and everything I needed in one place was amazing. In Serenity, we stayed for a whole month and we really wanted to extend our stay. We tried out almost all the yoga classes and we absolutely loved all the teachers and the different kinds of practices they offered. The pool area was the perfect spot for relaxation, and the staff at the resort were incredibly friendly and attentive to our needs.

The only downside to Serenity was the lack of comfort in some of the private rooms. We tried out four different rooms and all the mattresses were uncomfortable to the point where we would wake up in the middle of the night with back pain. We strongly advise against staying in the Tarzan room – it doesn’t have air conditioning, lacks privacy, and the smoke from nearby fires tends to gather there. Even the staff of the resort would sometimes smoke us out in the morning while boiling water for the restaurant. We let them know and they stopped, which was really accommodating of them, but there are others in the neighborhood who burn garbage and rice fields, so it’s best to avoid it altogether.

The Alkaline restaurant at Serenity is pretty good. The prices are reasonable and the food is very healthy. The breakfast buffet was decent enough, but you can find even better food nearby if you’re willing to spend just a little more money.

Overall, our experience at Serenity was great and we would definitely go back.

The wifi is not that great, so you can really get into the zen mode. The towels don’t smell fresh, they could use some better washing. It’s really great! As soon as I walked in, I felt amazing. The reception was awesome, they immediately gave me a tour of the place and took their time with me. The atmosphere is really calming. The bed is comfortable and it’s covered with curtains and a mosquito net. The room is also pretty dark, even though it’s only half outside! They tidy up your bed every morning too. The breakfast buffet is amazing! So many different vegan options to try: homemade slices of bread, peanut butter/jam, fruits, and a different special each time (pumpkin, chickpea soup), along with coffee, tea, milk, and juices! The homemade peanut butter and jam are so delicious!!! The restaurant attached to it also has tasty vegan options at a good price.
I stayed in the shared room with 3 yoga classes. There are about 10 yoga classes to choose from. The instructors are great and they cater to beginners. I really enjoyed Yogi’s Hatha class. You should definitely try the massages too! The best neck/back massage ever, Tini really worked on my tight neck.

Other teachers are good too, but they don’t adjust students. I went to Kemi’s class to learn inversion, but she’s not teaching it step by step. Instead, she just told me, “If you’re not gonna try, you won’t be able to do it.” But without someone to assist me, I won’t attempt inversions, as I could risk injuring myself. The yoga classes with Kartana, Mano, Quino, and Yogi are fantastic. These teachers not only adjust students but are also passionate about sharing their knowledge.

You should do some research about Canggu before going (I wish I had). It’s not exactly what I expected. Westerners and springbreakers have taken over the place. The Balinese locals I met said that most of the businesses there are now owned by foreigners. But if you’re into partying and seeing lots of surfers, Canggu is the place to be.

The room I booked was small with just a single bed, no desk, and one dresser. It had two windows – one facing the bathroom/shower area and the other facing a side alley where smokers would hang out (even though it’s supposed to be a no-smoking resort). It was really inconvenient because I could hear people going in and out of the bathroom/shower and sometimes even smell cigarettes in my room.

The wifi didn’t reach my room at all, so making video calls or streaming anything online was impossible. Other rooms seemed to have no wifi issues though.

It wasn’t the ideal situation for a 30-day peaceful yoga retreat.

After a few nights, I asked if I could change rooms (there was one available across the hall) or pay extra for an upgrade. Unfortunately, they said they were fully booked and couldn’t do room swaps.

So I ended up cancelling my stay after just one week and left Canggu. But I have to say, the yoga classes were amazing. The teachers were talented, knowledgeable, and communicated very well. I highly recommend them!

The staff at the center were also great. They all had a positive vibe that made the whole environment enjoyable. Thank you to all of them!

The pool area was beautiful, although there weren’t many places to lie in the sun. But the pool itself was rarely crowded. Most people just hung around sunbathing.

The spa center, located next to the pool, was also really nice. I had a Balinese massage there and it was fantastic. The prices were reasonable considering the expertise and the area.

Overall, I would definitely do yoga again at this facility. Unfortunately, my accommodation experience wasn’t the best.

Canggu didn’t meet my expectations, but that’s okay because I spent most of the day in Serenity. And let me tell you, all the human noises from the neighboring rooms were so annoying! However, the yoga teachers were fantastic and covered a wide range of expertise. It was an unusual experience for me, but I learned a lot with great effort. The massages, staff, and food were all amazing. I genuinely had a great time at this place! I highly recommend it.

The dogs they have can get a little noisy at night, but I could easily fall back asleep with earplugs so it wasn’t a big deal! Serenity has this magical power to help you relax and escape the hustle and bustle of Canggu, and the peaceful atmosphere it creates is just amazing. The teachers here are all different but have excellent qualities, and there’s a great variety for you to choose from each day. My room was simple but they cleaned it every day, and I felt very comfortable. They also make sure to clean the showers and toilets regularly, and the staff are all really positive and helpful. Every morning, they served a delicious breakfast with fresh fruit, homemade raw breads, and a different hot dish each day like Balinese porridge or scrambled tofu. It was all so tasty. And let me tell you, the food they served for lunch and dinner was just as amazing. It was all so fresh and healthy. I stumbled upon this place and I’m definitely coming back on my next trip to Bali.

It was my first time in Bali and overall, I was mostly disappointed by the touristy city of Canggu, with its superficial “Instagram” vibe. Basically, everything is geared towards tourists, so if you’re looking for authenticity, I wouldn’t recommend this city. Pollution is also very prevalent, which can make the sea dirty on rainy days.

As for Serenity, the dorm where I stayed was clean (cleaned daily) and decent, although there were insects and crabs, which was a bit unpleasant but nothing major. Once we talked to the staff about it, they did everything they could to fix the issue.

The major downside for me was the health aspect. From January to March 2020, many people got sick, including myself. We thought that a bacteria (possibly in the water) was causing the fever, diarrhea, and vomiting we experienced. However, we don’t know for sure, but it was difficult for many other tourists staying at Serenity as well.

However, I don’t blame the Serenity staff, as they must have also been bothered by this problem. For my first solo trip, I decided to go to a center that offered yoga classes, so I wouldn’t be alone in a new country and could deepen my practice. I’m not disappointed that I chose Serenity! The place itself is stunning with a beautiful pool, the staff is always smiling and attentive, the teachers are excellent, and the vegan food is quite good. The people I met there were all in a positive and open mood, which made it easy to make connections and have unforgettable moments. A big thank you for the three Balinese massages included with the one-month package.

I highly recommend Serenity, and even though Canggu wasn’t my favorite city, I would go back just for the kindness of the teachers and staff.

Sometimes the toilet seats in the shared bathroom facilities got dirty, but that’s just because some guests are inconsiderate. One of the instructors didn’t respect my request to be left alone with my practice and took the tokens at the beginning of class. The accommodations here are simple and eco-friendly, and the staff is incredibly helpful and kind! The vegan breakfast buffet is absolutely amazing, and the pool area is so peaceful. The yoga classes are great. Most of the instructors teach a more modern style of yoga, focused on movement. However, some of them also incorporate traditional practices into their movement-focused classes! There’s a class and teacher for everyone here, I would definitely say. Plus, it’s really close to the beach (which is an amazing surf spot) and you can easily walk to some nice restaurants. I definitely recommend it!

We didn’t have a key to use in the dorm room. The bathrooms weren’t clean. The beds were extremely hard. If you’re on the bottom bunk, expect centipedes to crawl on you at night. This place is very damp, so you never feel clean or dry unless you leave the dorm. Unfortunately, the food made people sick, so I didn’t eat breakfast here and went somewhere else. Maybe it was just my bad luck with this dorm. Others seemed fine. The yoga classes were a lot of fun, and the teachers were extremely fun and helpful, especially for beginners. The pool is nice. The location is good because it’s a short 10-minute walk to the main area, making it hidden and quiet. The staff are lovely and accommodating. When we had no hot water and I mentioned it, they fixed it right away. It’s a great place to meet people, and the staff and security are available 24/7.

I left the guesthouse feeling a bit disheartened because someone had stolen my treasured bracelet, as well as my towel and bikini that were drying on a rack. I appreciate the efforts of the staff who took down my name and room number in case the items turned up, and I’m grateful for that. However, I can’t help but still feel a little upset. The staff at the guesthouse were very friendly and they offered a 2-minute shuttle from S1 to S2 anytime, so I didn’t have to walk alone in the dark for 10 minutes. The food at the guesthouse was amazing and reasonably priced. The pool was absolutely perfect, and I thoroughly enjoyed every yoga class. In Serenity 2, the roosters were very loud (louder than expected) and the bathroom had a partial stench. Construction was going on in front of the main building, which was also noisy. In my opinion, the Dorms here (Serenity 1) were not as lovingly furnished as in Serenity 2. The staff was very nice, helpful, and accommodating. The food was good, the yoga classes were mostly very good, and the location was great. Additionally, the pool was very nice and I felt comfortable. 🙂

In Serenity 2, there isn’t any air conditioning, but each bed has its own fan. Mosquito nets are attached to all beds (in both buildings) – which is a very positive feature.

The restaurant at the hotel is terrible! The banana bread looks like play dough. If you don’t want to get sick for four days like me and many others at the hotel (strangely at the same time), avoid the restaurant and eat outside for much better food at a lower cost.

The breakfast was tasteless. We knew it was vegan, but everything had no flavor. When they ran out of pineapple jam and we asked for more because we don’t like papaya, they said it wasn’t possible because they had to finish the papaya.

We didn’t eat lunch or dinner at the restaurant, so when we asked for two simple spoons, they couldn’t lend them to us. We paid 120 euros for a week for the room and yoga, but unlimited yoga for a week only costs 60 euros. We thought the room (or rather, the bed in a dormitory) was not worth 10 euros a night.

The staff is not very welcoming. There’s not really a nice place to relax if you don’t consume at the restaurant. It’s a shame because we were excited to try the yoga experience in Canggu.

The aerial yoga class was good. The location is convenient. The cleanliness of the room and common areas was acceptable.

Breakfasts at the resort were just so boring and unimaginative! They served the same thing every day, and the quality was seriously lacking. They really need to step up their hygiene standards too. I mean, having stinky dogs in the restaurant? Not a good idea at all!

On the bright side, the yoga teaching and facilities were top-notch. The accommodation was decent considering the price, and the food was alright, although the quality of breakfasts went downhill over time. But here’s the kicker – there were so many sick people at the resort, all claiming they got a bacterial infection from eating their food! Can you believe it?

The breakfast they served was vegan and it was delicious. I also tried the cakes and the restaurant, which were all vegan and really great. I thought the whole place was really in line with their food offer, yoga, spa, and permaculture around the property. They even care about the type of chemicals they put in the pool! I joined an ecstatic dance session led by Deva, which was awesome too! They just need a proper sound system 😉 My favorite activity was the aerial yoga class. You have to try it at least once! I initially enjoyed the food, but it eventually became repetitive with many similar dishes. I tried to avoid eating salads because they were washed in the general water, but most of their dishes contained raw ingredients. I’m not sure what their vegan alkaline diet consists of, but I wished they offered more legume-based dishes. One day, we had moong beans for breakfast, but it was a strange sweet porridge. The breakfast itself was average, but the fresh juices were more like purees than actual juice. I noticed a jacuzzi at one end of the pool, but couldn’t figure out how to activate it. Although our room was centrally located, some of the accommodations were quite a distance away and the road leading to them was often busy. Despite this, I wouldn’t want to stay at those alternative places, even if there’s a shuttle available. Despite my reservations, I would definitely return. We may have been too ambitious in booking unlimited yoga classes, but we managed to participate in at least one class per day, sometimes even two. There was a wide variety of class types and skill levels, and they ran from 7am to 7pm. All the instructors were excellent and the facilities were top-notch. The staff members were incredibly helpful and seemed genuinely passionate about their work. The place was always spotlessly clean and provided a peaceful environment for relaxation. The pool was a great spot to unwind, and our ensuite room was conveniently located right next to it. The spa treatments were also exceptional and reasonably priced. Additionally, the beach was just a short walk away.

I stayed at serenety2. There were a lot of chickens and roosters around, but they didn’t bother me at all. However, the entrance is a big, loud, wobbly metal gate that gets pushed open and closed all night by people coming and going.

The room is very noisy because the door is a sliding door that doesn’t fully close. The beds are very comfortable though! The AC is very quiet. The pool is very clean. The breakfast is good, but mostly sweet. They always have sliced fruit, bread with sweet spreads, and a warm dish (baked banana or porridge).

The room itself is small, with just a bed and a mosquito net. You don’t need anything more. The bathroom was cleaned every day.

I’m not sure what happened there, but literally every single new person who stayed in the dorm, including me (and plenty of people in other rooms too), experienced some terrible 24hr vomiting and diarrhea sickness. It could’ve been the breakfast we all ate, or maybe something related to sanitation or water quality. Alternatively, it might have been a 24hr flu that thrives in that place due to constant new visitors. Either way, every single person staying in the dorm (and even people in other rooms) got sick (and I was there for 10 days). The yoga classes were fantastic, I really enjoyed the open air studios. I stayed at the Serene rooms, which were just a short distance from the main building. The rooms were great, but I wasn’t a fan of being woken up at 4.30 every morning by the roosters and dogs right outside my window. It didn’t ruin my experience, but I definitely didn’t feel as well-rested because I couldn’t block out the noisy animals no matter what I tried, like ear plugs or headphones. However, the location and overall concept of the place were fantastic. The vibes and staff were great too.

Kartana was the yoga instructor who really matched my style, and I appreciated how he helped me correct my poses. Diaz, on the other hand, was amazing at yoga, but since I wasn’t at his level, I would have preferred more physical adjustments rather than just showing me.

The rest of the staff were super nice, although I only had one weird experience with the office manager. When I approached him at the desk, he just dismissed me and told me to speak to someone else on the staff.

Overall, my experience at Serenity Eco Lodge was absolutely amazing, and I would highly recommend it.

The nearby beach is okay, but the sea can be rough… with black sand and lots of surfers, including young ones… The teachers are excellent.

When I thought of a yoga retreat, I didn’t envision what I experienced here. I thought it would involve staying with the same people, main teachers, and a structured programme. Instead, it’s more like a guest house with drop-in yoga classes. It’s possible to end up rooming with people who don’t do yoga, leading to misaligned schedules (late nights vs early mornings).

However, I had a great time despite it not meeting my expectations. The flexibility was a plus, and it was a great deal for the price. The teachers were fantastic, the classes varied, and the staff was helpful. I also made some wonderful friends among the guests. I particularly enjoyed the healthy food options like the banana smoothie and chia bowl, as well as the free water.

The location is perfect, located on a quiet street close to the beach. I appreciated the workshops offered, especially the women’s circle which created a strong bond among us. Overall, while it wasn’t exactly what I had in mind, I had a fantastic experience here.

The hotel offered activities both inside and outside the premises, but as an added bonus, guests could participate in extracurricular activities such as conversation circles on-site (during breakfast, by the pool or at the café), post-yoga class meetings, or simple beach activities where guests could get to know each other. The place, the atmosphere, the attention, and the service were all so warm, eco-friendly, nourishing, healing, and rejuvenating. The facilities were simply cozy, clean, and very connected to nature. The location is perfect for practicing yoga individually and also with great native Balinese teachers who truly embody the essence of yoga.

The Balinese massages included in the unlimited 30-day package and the delicious breakfast at the Alkaline restaurant were the perfect complement! Without a doubt, I found the best medicine for my body at Serenity Eco Guest House & Yoga. Thank you so much! I will definitely be back soon to recharge more energy!

I found my room a little off-putting because of the building work that happened every morning at 7 am. I think it would have been better to let guests know about this when they check in. I really enjoyed the yoga classes though – they were a good size and the instructors were very helpful. Aerial yoga was new to me and I loved it! I would definitely do it again in England.

The bathroom could have been a bit cleaner, but it’s an eco hostel so they can’t use as strong cleaning products as usual. I’m not a vegan, so the on-site restaurant options didn’t really appeal to me, but others have said they were tasty. Overall, it’s a great place to stay and I really enjoyed my time here. You just need to give 30 minutes notice before attending yoga classes, but the staff are really friendly and helpful. A Late Breakfast is a good spot to meet people. The beach is just a short walk away, with plenty of food places nearby. The other guests were friendly and the pool area is a nice place to relax. My bathroom was a bit basic, but the shower was warm and my bed was comfy and clean. I would recommend this place for solo travelers who want to experience yoga and be close to surfing spots.

This place is perfect for a yoga holiday. I was there for 2 weeks and I chose two week-long class passes at 900K each. It was a wonderfully relaxing trip and it really boosted my yoga practice and fitness. There are so many classes in different styles, lots of teachers, various rooms, massages and treatments available, a pool, accommodation, and a delicious on-site vegan restaurant where guests get a complimentary breakfast. I imagine some people might be sensitive towards insects and nature, but that wasn’t the case for me. Just know that Serenity’s eco-approach brings in a lot more wildlife around their facilities. My first time in Bali, I wanted to take it easy, so Canggu and the Serenity Eco Guesthouse were just perfect for me. The check-in was smooth and I quickly learned about all the amenities they offer- and they have a lot. I really loved the strong Balinese massage. The Ashtanga and Aerial Yoga classes were great too. I also enjoyed the sugar- and gluten-free options at the Alkaline restaurant, especially the raw bars and smoothie bowls. The resort is close to Canggu’s main street but in a quieter area, perfect for evening practices and meditation. And the surfing lesson was definitely the highlight of my stay!

The finishing touches in the sanitary rooms are used by many people. If you’re looking for more entertainment like going out, shopping, etc., you have to walk a bit, around 15 minutes. It’s easy to do during the day but a bit harder at night. I found it a nice place to land in Bali. There is peace and plenty of spots to settle in. There is a wide variety of great yoga classes. The spa is delightful and reasonably priced. The beach is just a 2-minute walk away. The staff is friendly and helpful.

The yoga experience was amazing with different teachers bringing unique approaches. I attended 81 classes in one month, only leaving one taught by Hannah. It was a total waste of time, not resembling yoga in any way. Yudah’s classes are decent, but his English could use improvement. The bad grammar and excessive talking can be irritating to some students. However, the lessons themselves are valuable.

There are some issues at the Alkaline restaurant, as service is slow and chaotic. The kitchen seems disorganized, impacting the guests on tight yoga schedules. The sweet porridge is a must-try, but improvements in service are needed, such as better kitchen structure and communication.

The staff at Serenity is outstanding! They work tirelessly to assist guests and deserve fair treatment. They are skilled and dedicated to their jobs, making the overall experience enjoyable. The reception staff and yoga instructors are commendable, providing excellent service.

I extended my stay multiple times and recommend the shared dorm at Serenity 2 with AC. It offers a comfortable retreat after a day of yoga practice.

Special thanks to all the yoga instructors for their unique and valuable teachings. Diaz, Chitra, Mia, Nia, Yogi, Kartana, Mano, Ika Dewi, Todjon, Sida, Amanda, and Lala all made a significant impact on my practice. Thank you for the lessons learned.

I was surprised when I had to surrender my passport upon arrival. I asked if I could pay cash for the first night since I arrived at 1:30 am, but it seemed like giving up my passport was the only way to get a room. This has been very unusual in my travel experience.

I stayed in B7, and the dog somehow made its way into the common area before the stairs up to the toilet. When I came down my second night, he growled and barked aggressively, but thankfully ran away. I was a bit scared, to be honest. The yoga classes were challenging, a bit more difficult than I expected, but the instructors made it fun!

The food was creative and imaginative. I’m not vegan, but I enjoyed sampling the menu. The pool and massage facilities were also very nice, exceeding my expectations. The pre-arranged ride from the airport was well worth it! My driver spoke good English and patiently waited while customs & immigration took a full 90 minutes.

Our room. Not a peaceful night’s sleep. Just next to a dog breeder according to the receptionist.. dogs barking non-stop and roosters making it impossible to sleep well even with earplugs. And those noises continue even during the day. Hearing dogs bark all the time is not pleasant. We had a fridge but no kettle so no hot water available as mentioned having to walk 1.5km for a cup of tea is not what I call convenient. The shower didn’t work properly, one moment hot water, the next moment cold water. For the budget, the room is not acceptable… and not serene even though that was its name. The Serenity center was nice, the pool, the restaurant, the garden were all nice but if you don’t stay there, you can’t enjoy the services offered like hot and cold water, relaxation room, pool, breakfast – everything is over there thankfully we had a scooter because it was really not close by. The yoga classes and equipment are perfect and there are classes available at any time of the day.

If you love camping, Serenity is the place for you. Personally, I’m not a fan. The mosquitoes are relentless, and the only solution seems to be turning off the lights and using ineffective mosquito lotion. It’s not exactly a peaceful retreat, more like a Guesthouse with a yoga pass. The class schedule is limited, with only one beginners class. The other classes are supposed to be suitable for beginners, but I found that wasn’t the case at all. The quality of teaching varies widely. Nia cares more about Instagram photos than actual yoga in Aerial class. Todjion refused to make any adjustments during class. But Magdelena’s Vinyasa class was fantastic, focusing on real yoga and offering variations for all levels.

During my stay, I needed a doctor and was hospitalized. The staff didn’t seem to care at all. It took over 4 hours to locate a doctor, which is unacceptable when dealing with young solo travelers. The rooms were terrible, especially considering the price difference for air conditioning and a private bathroom. One bathroom was infested with dead moths and mosquitoes. Plus, the noise from parties, animals, and motorbikes was constant.

On the bright side, the food at Alkaline restaurant was fantastic. The surfing experience was amazing. And some of the staff were actually helpful.

You can do it by yourself, but there is a lot to do, so joining an organized group is much better. The teachers are very good, helping you correct your postures and making the classes dynamic, working deeply on the asanas. All levels are welcome, which was good for us. Some of the bathrooms weren’t the best, but staff kept them clean. Outside your dorms in the morning, it can get noisy with staff and the “fire man,” as we called him. But if you’re up early for yoga anyway, you learn to deal. It would be nice if the aircon could be on a timer so it doesn’t wake you every morning when they come in to shut it off. And it’s strange that they open the window right after turning off the air – shouldn’t they want to keep the cold air in longer?

It would be great if the later, more relaxing yoga classes were in a quieter room. The noise from motorbikes and people talking right below can be really distracting. But these are all minor things and wouldn’t stop me from coming back. Everything exceeded my expectations.

There was a great selection of classes and amazing teachers. By the end of the retreat, you get into a fantastic routine. The food was delicious and the staff went above and beyond. I love the mosquito lotion! I can’t wait to go back, hopefully soon!

I loved everything about my stay at Serenity, but I had a bad experience with bug bites. One morning, I woke up to find my back, shoulders, and feet covered in bites. There were so many that I had an allergic reaction. I believe they were bedbug bites, not mosquito bites. The staff mentioned that they might be from bugs in the bamboo outside our rooms, but I never actually saw any bugs – just woke up with hundreds of bites. Some people in my yoga class noticed my bites and mentioned that bedbugs are a common issue at Serenity. Despite the sweet staff trying to help by putting coconut oil on my bites, I woke up with even more bites the next day. It was hard to focus on yoga and meditation with all the itching. It seems that the bug problem is more prevalent in the single rooms rather than the dorms.

I ended up canceling my last week at Serenity and moving to Ubud instead. It was a shame because Serenity is a great place for solo travelers looking for peace, calm, and connection with like-minded individuals while practicing yoga in a beautiful environment. The location is fantastic, close to the beach, and the yoga classes are excellent. The staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I particularly enjoyed Kartana and Pusba’s classes, but there is something for everyone at Serenity. The spa services are also top-notch.

Sometimes there was too much music during our Asana and Shavasana training. The training was excellent, and the teachers Bente and Maria were amazing. The lectures were also top-notch. I had a great time.

There are some restaurants around that area, but going to the other ones can be a little scary at night because it’s so dark. They serve lunch and dinner too. The yoga instructors are awesome and I learned a lot from them. The accommodation is nice, clean, and pretty quiet. The food is okay for me since I’m not a vegetarian, but it tastes great. I enjoyed breakfast every morning. If you’re a vegetarian, you’ll love their food. The location is nice, as it’s near the beach.

What I’ll miss the most are the people, the yoga instructors, and the food. The staff was really helpful and friendly. Thanks for making me feel at home. I think this yoga retreat falls short. They don’t offer a set programme, coaching, or guidance. Instead, you just get accommodation and a yoga pass, leaving it up to you to figure out which classes to take. This can be frustrating, especially for beginners.

Additionally, the place is busier than I expected based on the descriptions and website. This is mainly due to the popular restaurant and walk-ins to the yoga classes. The lack of structure combined with the busy atmosphere doesn’t give off a retreat-like feeling in my opinion.

Overall, it’s a nice budget-friendly place to stay and do some yoga. The lessons are decent (quality varies among teachers), the accommodation is pleasant, the pool is great, and the location near the beach is excellent.

I would like to see more plug sockets in the rooms and aircon units. The yoga here is excellent and the overall package is extremely good value. The massages were an added bonus and equally fabulous.

When I arrived after a 20-hour journey, I wasn’t sure if I would stay because as a westerner, the room seemed a bit too basic. However, within a couple of days, this place felt like home with such a friendly vibe. If I had any criticism, it would be that the rooms need more plug sockets and aircon as the ceiling fans did very little. The shared bathroom facilities are plentiful; I never once had an occasion where there were not enough toilets or showers available in 31 days.

Many people got Bali belly, so I recommend having Imodium on hand. This wasn’t due to anything in the hostel, mostly food eaten offsite. I highly recommend the 30-day program as it gives you time to chill, rethink, and relax with the yoga.

I stayed in the Serenity Dorms 2, located 500m away, for the first few days. Unfortunately, the rooms lack charm and atmosphere. They are small and dark. The entire Serenity team is super friendly and kind, always at your service 24/7. They do their best and you start to feel like part of a big family after a few days.

I highly recommend the massages in addition to the yoga classes. The restaurant prices are fair and not more expensive than outside. The property has a beautiful, well-maintained garden with a clean pool and many lovely details, a perfect place to relax and unwind.

Even the dorms on the property are cozy and clean. They even made the beds every day. Overall, it’s an unbeatable value for money! I stayed for a week and I will definitely come back! Thank you for everything.

Everything was absolutely amazing, especially the extremely friendly and helpful staff.

The location is perfect, with easy walking access to the beach, rice fields, restaurants, and coffee shops.

Returning to Serenity always felt like coming home because the staff was like family! I also met so many wonderful travelers who made my stay special.

All the yoga teachers, Sida, Kartana, Mia, Yogi, Citra, and Daivum, were excellent. I wish I had attended more classes and not been lazy by the pool, but I loved the laid-back atmosphere! The massages were also amazing.

The owners, a beautiful and kind couple, were very hands-on and passionate. It was uplifting to see the wife’s daily devotion to the deities with fresh flowers.

The philosophy of the yoga teachers varied a lot. I felt uncomfortable at times because it was always about pushing yourself further and being the best at stretching in class. It really ruined the yoga experience, especially for those who were new to yoga.
There was also a virus going around, with someone different getting sick near a toilet every day. We suspected it was the restaurant food, as no one had such problems before in Bali.
The staff took good care of me – they brought me water and charcoal tablets in the middle of the night, and even more the next day. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, making it so easy to feel comfortable. Truly outstanding!
My room, KrisKros, was very spacious and well-equipped: fridge, mosquito net, fan, air conditioning, you name it.

The instructor allowed and encouraged people to take photos during the aerial class, but I think they should have waited until after class because it was very off putting.

My partner and I got very sick halfway through the retreat, so no more yoga for us. We can’t be sure where we got it from, but we only ate at one restaurant outside Sanctuary and it was always very busy. There were others at Sanctuary who were also sick. People didn’t wipe the mats properly, and I’m not convinced the cutlery and dishes were properly disinfected. The staff gave us a charcoal drink that really helped, but as we were in Sanctuary 2, we were quite cut off. For instance, I sent a message asking if breakfast could be brought to us because we were so unwell, and I didn’t get a response for 24 hours.

It’s fantastic value, just don’t get sick! We managed 3 months in Asia, and it was our last week of travelling that got us. The classes were great, the pool area was very nice, and the breakfast was lovely. The room had everything we needed, and the free insect repellent was a nice touch. The staff were lovely.

Serenity Yoga and Guesthouse is a cozy and welcoming place where they serve you with a smile and make you feel at home right away. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay in the main building because it was fully booked. I ended up staying at Serenity 2 and renting a bicycle to get around. The yoga classes were tough at first, since I hadn’t practiced in two years, but the teachers were great at explaining, offering different poses, and encouraging you to do your best. In a short time, I felt stronger, lost weight thanks to the amazing alkaline restaurant, and was at peace in mind and soul.

I encountered a language barrier when I tried to address my concerns. I had lost my room key and was leaving the next day. The manager had arranged for a driver to pick me up at a different location for my shuttle to the gilli islands the next morning. They said I would get my key deposit back, minus the cost to replace the key. Luckily, I found my key in the lining of my backpack. The next day, the driver from eco didn’t show up, so I had to walk to the main building to catch my prepaid boat ride. It was not safe to walk alone so early in the morning. The shuttle driver was annoyed when we had to go back for my luggage. I was given my key deposit back, minus the key replacement cost, even though I had found the key. I couldn’t discuss it further since the instructions and money left for me were very specific. The staff at eco couldn’t help me either, as they were unable to contact management. It was very frustrating. Moreover, there was a rooster that crowed all night long right outside my window, making it impossible to sleep. On the bright side, the beach was close by and most of the staff tried to help, but there needs to be better procedures in place to handle situations like mine.

    – Stray and sometimes aggressive dogs roamed around
    – The food at the restaurant was too expensive for the quality
    – Some of the staff don’t speak English very well, but colleagues were able to help out
    – The staff was very friendly and attentive (although there was sometimes a bit of chaos behind the counter, with 5-8 employees, 2-3 of whom were actually working)
    – They offered a variety of yoga styles
    – The cleanliness was excellent
    – There were plenty of seating options

I booked a two week stay, but as soon as I arrived, I realized it was a mistake. This place was super busy and there were constant building works, with banging all the time. I canceled my reservation and left because it wasn’t what I was looking for. The staff were great though.

I tried out many different yoga classes for breakfast today, including ones with singing bowl and gong meditation to help balance my yin energy.

I want a storage locker, even if it’s not free, to leave my bag after I check out. The privacy isn’t great because you can hear guests in other rooms. The food at the restaurant is okay. The energy of the place is good.

Some of the staff did not speak English very well, but we always managed to understand each other. The place is not a luxury stay, but I’m completely fine with it. Just keep in mind that it attracts a lot of young travelers who aren’t looking for a quiet yoga retreat. Everyone on the staff was incredibly nice and accommodating. The classes were really good, and the unlimited pass allows you to tailor your experience to your preferences. I loved being able to try different yoga and meditation styles, taught by both Balinese and Western instructors. There were even options for Yoga Philosophy and Life Coaching. The eco-friendly concept of the place is great. The restaurant served mainly vegetarian, vegan, and raw dishes. The location next to the beach was perfect, and the bustling center of Canggu is close by for more variety. I stayed at the second location, which I actually think is better since it’s quieter and has bigger, more recent rooms. Overall, I met some truly amazing people and found more than I had expected during my stay.

The rooms were below average in cleanliness. I stayed in three different rooms. The shared dorms were probably the best and cleanest. The other two rooms I stayed in had dirty bedding. The first room had blood stains on the sheets, while the second had white stains that looked questionable. Both rooms were supposed to have hot water and AC. In the first room, the shower didn’t work and when it was fixed, there was no hot water. The AC in the second room was broken. The staff were mostly nice, although the owner seemed quite rude. I was asked to leave the common area by the owner in a rude manner. Some yoga teachers were lovely, but a few were arrogant. One class felt like a boot camp and another teacher pushed me into a pose that hurt my back. The food at the restaurant was healthy and fresh. The location was great. I liked that the accommodation was smoke and alcohol-free, attracting health-conscious people and plenty of interesting conversations. Overall, it was a great place to hang out.

People were drawn to the place because it’s listed in the Lonely Planet as a place to stay, even if they weren’t really into the atmosphere or yoga! Some of the yoga attendees were a bit serious and pretentious – maybe they need some face-yoga to remember how to smile! The bathrooms really need a good deep clean with some bleach – but that just doesn’t fit the zen vibe I’m used to!

The yoga teachers were all so unique, but each one had something special about them. They were clearly chosen with care. The addition of the restaurant was great – it was affordable, had a lot of variety, and was super healthy and convenient.

Originally, we booked the Moon room, but we asked for a different room because it had a damp problem and smelled bad. The accommodations were basic, just like we expected, but my sister has asthma so we couldn’t stay there. After some discussion, we got a different room and the rest of our stay was fantastic. The selection of classes was amazing and the instructors were inspiring and excellent.

I wish there were some lounge chairs by the pool and maybe tables on the balconies for lounging. It would be nice to have some suggestions for sightseeing in Bali for first-time visitors. Overall, I pretty much enjoyed everything. I didn’t like that I only booked 8 days though. The location, solitude, and planned activities were great. The staff was always available and provided excellent service. The accommodations were perfect for all types of guests. Transportation services were easily accessible. The cultural tour was fantastic. The instructors were knowledgeable and the owner was helpful and informative. The atmosphere was laid-back and enjoyable.

They are expanding and have building work going on from 8am. It disrupts the beautiful tranquillity of the place. I hope the expansion doesn’t lose its charm. It feels very inclusive, the staff are all very friendly, you don’t have to be an expert at yoga. There are lots of little fountains dotted around creating a constant background of trickling water sounds. The food at the Alkaline cafe is healthy and delicious. I wish they sold a recipe book to take home to continue the goodness.
