Program

The yoga, breathwork, and meditation are practices that will make you feel supercharged in your body when you start each day off with them. SoCal Wellness Retreat founder John Quirk leads these practices and provides high-quality instruction. If you’re new to yoga, don’t worry because the retreats in Bali are also for beginners. John makes the practices highly accessible and fun!

Experiencing different cultures is one of the best ways to change your perspective and appreciate life. Flying halfway around the world for your Bali wellness retreat adds an adventurous element. You can also enjoy excursions like snorkeling, river rafting, and waterfall hikes during your retreat for even more excitement.

The Balinese people are hard not to fall in love with. They are devoted, loving, and have a deep reverence for yogic tradition. Their warm smiles and helpful nature make the wellness retreats in Bali a welcoming and inviting experience. You’ll feel right at home.

SoCal Wellness Retreats is all about building a community of like-minded individuals seeking to feel good. Many guests return to the retreats multiple times and have formed close friendships and even started businesses together. When you join a SoCal Wellness Retreat, you become part of the family.

Nyepi is a Hindu celebration for the Balinese that marks the start of a New Year. It’s a day of silence and cleansing, where the whole island shuts down for 24 hours. The streets are off-limits, and even the airport closes. Everyone must remain inside their homes without any disturbances. It’s a day of pure bliss.

During Nyepi Day, the Balinese meditate, pray, and spend silent time at home with their families. Non-Hindus, on the other hand, get to relax at home with nothing else to do. Before Nyepi Day, the preparations and celebrations start with traditional music and colorful offerings. The purification ritual of Melasti takes place a few days before Nyepi, where thousands of Balinese people dress in white and gather at the ocean to cleanse and purify sacred objects. The Ogoh-Ogoh papier-mâché monsters are also paraded through the streets before Nyepi, creating a contrast to the silent serenity that follows.

SoCal Wellness Retreats encourages guests to step out of their comfort zones and into their highest selves. Trying something new is where personal growth happens, and you’ll have the support of like-minded individuals. So why choose this Bali retreat? According to founder John Quirk, Bali has had a profound effect on his own growth as a human. The retreat stands out because of John’s experience and knowledge of the local area, the safety provided by traveling as a group, the focus on practicing yoga, breathwork, and meditation, the inclusivity of all backgrounds and experience levels, and the emphasis on having fun and building community. So don’t wait any longer – sign up and have the best time of your life!

Sometimes I feel like people overhype the health benefits of yoga and meditation in these circles. I’m not sure if it’s more prevalent here or less so. John is usually pretty humble, but sometimes he makes it seem like yoga and meditation can cure all your health problems. They can definitely help, but they’re not a magic solution for everyone’s depression or anxiety.

Staying on this retreat with John has been a blast. He created a great atmosphere for connecting, meditating, and learning new ways to manage stress and anxiety. The focus was more on meditation than yoga, which was exactly what I needed. And not having our phones was a refreshing change.

This retreat definitely exceeded my expectations. I was originally just looking for a quiet getaway to recharge and relax, but it turned out to be so much more than that. It provided the perfect combination of active and relaxing activities, like yoga, breath-work, meditations, cold/ice plunges, and TRE.

What really stood out to me was the safe and authentic space that John created. Throughout the few days, I felt like I was able to deeply learn and grow in a way that felt natural and meaningful. Everything we did, whether it was a realization or an experience, felt personal and genuine.

Before I signed up for this retreat, I was skeptical about the positive reviews I read. I couldn’t believe that such positive life-changes could happen so easily. But now, I can confidently say that the practices and activities during the retreat have become an important part of who I am. It feels like magic, but it’s actually based on science and applied practice.

I also had some concerns about the vegan food, lack of coffee (which I slowly weaned off to avoid withdrawal headaches), and intermittent fasting. But it turned out that these things were not an issue at all. The food was absolutely delicious and satisfying.

Overall, this retreat was truly a wonderful gift for my mind, body, and soul. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a transformative and rejuvenating experience.

I just attended this amazing retreat that completely blew me away. John was the one leading it, and let me tell you, the meditation sessions were absolutely incredible!

Not only did this retreat provide me with amazing meditation, breathwork, and yoga techniques that I can use in my daily life, but it was also so relaxing and rejuvenating. Plus, it was a fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and form a real sense of community.

Sophia and Ocho, the co-teachers, really made the atmosphere warm and welcoming. Their support and positive energy added to the overall enjoyment and learning experience of the retreat.

I wasn’t disappointed with it at all! Normally, I’m a really active person, but I’ve got this injury, so I needed to take things a bit easier than usual. That’s why I was there for the mid—a more relaxed kind of physical activity. So, if you’re expecting a boot camp-style workout, just keep in mind that you’ll need to fit in the physical stuff during your free time, according to the schedule he’s got planned. During that time, though, you’ve got this awesome lap pool and a beautiful mountainous area where you can go swimming or hiking. It’s totally up to you, though, just be aware of that.

I can honestly say there was nothing I didn’t like about it! Right now, I’m going through the toughest time of my life, and being able to disconnect from social media and have John to guide me through meditation, breath work, yoga, and more—it made me feel refreshed, loved, and helped me keep moving forward. It really gave me the boost I needed, and I didn’t want to give up.

John Quirk’s retreat delivers on all its promises. Once you hear his story, it becomes clear why he is so passionate and skilled in his work. He actively engages in continuous education, ensuring that his guests benefit from the latest advancements in wellness science. The retreat’s four-day program is carefully designed to incorporate a perfect blend of yoga, breathwork, meditation, and relaxation in a stunning estate. Moreover, we had an incredibly talented chef present, preparing exquisite and nourishing meals, along with an abundance of delightful snacks. To top it off, we had the privilege of receiving professional massages on-site. But above all, the main priority is to have a great time. By the end of the retreat, you will walk away armed with valuable wellness tools that will serve you well for the rest of your life.

I might have preferred having more programming in the afternoons, but it did allow for a more relaxed schedule. John is an amazing teacher who is really down to earth. He teaches with a perfect balance of seriousness and playfulness. I attended a 4-day retreat in Temecula that has already had a huge positive impact on my life. During those 4 days, we had 2 yoga sessions and 3 breath work/meditation sessions. However, what I found most valuable was having plenty of time to share and discuss our wellness goals and work on ourselves in a powerful group setting, with John providing insights from his experience in yoga, spirituality, nutrition, and science. Thank you, John!

John did GREAT! He amazed us with his incredible intelligence and education. He’s such a warm spirit. The venue went beyond my expectations – it was as grand as his teachings. He created a connection among eight wonderful women. We learned, laughed, cried, and overcame obstacles together. I would gladly attend this retreat with John and the girls a thousand times over.

I didn’t like having to leave, but every good thing must come to an end. Work had completely burned me out and I couldn’t process my emotional grief. But this trip, it helped me push away the clouds and become the happy, joyful person I am for my family, friends, and coworkers.

I chose this trip because it had everything I love in life: meditation, breath work, journaling, yoga, hiking, and amazing food. Plus, I even ended up enjoying the cold therapy and how it made me feel afterwards.

John and Michelle make an incredible team. They’ve created a safe environment for people to come together and grow. I can guarantee that anyone who joins this retreat will leave completely transformed.

You should definitely go on this retreat! It saved me so much time in my research and ended up being one of the most profound spiritual experiences of my life. Plus, I made nine incredible friends that I couldn’t have asked for anything better. John really knows how to bring people together and create intentional experiences. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed with the sound healing, reiki massages, vegan cooking class, breathwork, hiking, yoga, and meditation. I learned so much and gained valuable tools that I can actually use in my daily life. And let’s not forget about the breathtaking location in SD, it’s truly beautiful and spacious. I wish I could go on and on about how amazing this experience was and how Holly, Hannah, and Samson from his team are like angels, but instead, I’ll just say this: it’s time for you to step out of your comfort zone and discover the incredible experience that awaits you!

I wanted to take a break for a few days, do some yoga, and focus on self-care…but what I discovered was so much better. From the moment I parked at the bottom of the private driveway and met another first-time “retreater,” I instantly felt at home. We walked into a beautiful mountain escape estate filled with laughter and warmth. I was unsure about trying vegan food at first, but it turned out to be absolutely delicious, and now I’ve brought that new culinary experience to my own family.

Every morning, John Quirk leads the group in his incredible yoga practice, catering to all levels. By putting away our cell phones and disconnecting, we were able to truly connect and listen to each other. But for me, the most important thing was being able to listen to myself.

So, if you’re searching for an incredible adventure surrounded by tranquility, this is it!

I wish I could’ve had evening yoga, it would’ve been so calming and enjoyable. Instead, we had our yoga sessions in the morning. It would’ve been amazing to wind down with a gentle yoga session at night. We had a group of twelve strangers who all came together and connected through delicious food, meditation, the beauty of nature, and of course, yoga. I wasn’t sure what to anticipate since it was my first yoga retreat, but I ended up loving every moment and would definitely sign up for another one in the future.

I was a bit nervous when I headed over to the ranch. This was my first time doing something like this, and the location was pretty remote. In the back of my mind, I had some doubts about whether it was legitimate (since it was my first retreat). But when I arrived (in the dark, which I don’t recommend), I was relieved to hear people chatting inside. It reminded me of the show Big Brother! John came running out to greet me and showed me where to park. I was a little late, as usual, but it was totally fine. You should try to be on time, but don’t stress if you’re not; it’s a retreat after all!

The food was amazing! It was all vegan and healthy. I’m not even vegan, but I loved every bit of it. I was a little worried if there would be enough food with only two meals a day, but there were plenty of elaborate snacks during the day, lots of fruits and veggies, and even leftovers from previous dinners towards the end of the trip, which was perfect for me! The dinners were fantastic!

The yoga classes were good, just what you would expect from a typical yoga class. You don’t need prior experience to join. The meditation sessions were also great. John shared some helpful tips to get through meditation, which really improved my experience (since meditation is something I struggle with).

Make sure you’re prepared for both hot and cold weather if you’re going in February like I did. It rained a lot and was quite cold, so I was glad I brought an umbrella and warm clothes. The hikes are on dirt trails, so be ready for that too. Have shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. I highly recommend everyone to try this experience. It’s definitely worth it! 🙂

The weekend was amazing – we had yoga and meditation sessions led by John, who is incredibly experienced. We all had the chance to share stories about our lives and really got to know each other. It was such a therapeutic experience, and I left feeling so positive and happy about my life. Plus, I came away with some really valuable tools that I can incorporate into my daily routine. Seriously, I recommend that everyone try this at least once a year!

There was also plenty of time for self-reflection. The group was so inviting and non-judgmental, instantly making me feel at ease. John, our guide, did a phenomenal job of making this experience both relaxing and educational. And let me tell you, the food was absolutely delicious! I wish there were more fresh greens and salads. Since it was my first yoga retreat, I didn’t really know what to expect. I was a little nervous because it was held in a very remote area and I didn’t know anyone.
But as soon as I arrived, John Q greeted me warmly and I instantly felt comfortable.
The location, a ranch, was stunning, simple, and peaceful – exactly what I needed.
They thought of every detail – the food was delicious and the place was always clean. Leza even feng shui’d the whole house and left small sachets of rosemary on the nightstands. The yoga and meditation surpassed my expectations. The balance between yoga, meditation, group activities, and personal time was just right. It’s clear that John Q is incredibly passionate about his retreats. He is caring, humble, and never judgmental. His interactions with everyone are outstanding – he is mindful and goes above and beyond to give his best.
This weekend truly changed my life and I’m already excited to attend another retreat soon. Thank you!
