I had a tough time reaching the top of the steep hill in my power wheelchair because the wheels were locked and it kept sliding. This made it really hard for me to explore beyond the resort. Thankfully, some kind people came to my rescue and helped push me up the hill to prevent any more sliding incidents.
The narrow trails and big ravines made it impractical to go biking on the rice terraces. But despite that, the food was incredible, and I had a great time attending yoga sessions and connecting with other participants. The instructors were absolutely wonderful, and the pool was a nice addition to the experience. All in all, the helpful people and the entire experience were fantastic!
Helpful ReviewThe location of our resort was so peaceful and relaxing. We were close enough to Ubud that we could have visited if we wanted to, but my husband and I actually preferred to just stay at the resort. We had so much fun participating in the activities and we also learned a lot about Balinese culture. The best part was that the food was both delicious and healthy. They even washed all the produce with mineral water, so nobody ended up with Bali belly. The yoga classes were the perfect combination of challenging and relaxing, with a great variety of different types and levels. I cannot recommend this place enough!
Helpful ReviewThere’s nothing to complain about. Just enjoy your retreat! ? This place is the perfect retreat that fulfills all your needs. You’ll have an amazing time. Ariel, the owner, not only runs the retreat but also has a fantastic restaurant called Wild Vegan. Don’t miss out on their delicious à la carte lunch and dinner. Even if the retreat is fully booked, definitely try Ariel’s food anyway, haha! The rooms in the retreat are clean, bright, and the beds are incredibly comfortable. Plus, you’ll have a wonderful view of the rice fields. Make sure to take a swim in the beautiful pool between your yoga sessions and the many other activities Ariel offers. During our stay, we practiced Hatha, Vinyasa, and Yin yoga with three different instructors. Overall, it was the best week I’ve had in Ubud. I would absolutely recommend it.
Helpful ReviewThe place was amazing, the activities were awesome, and I absolutely loved the vibe!
Helpful ReviewI didn’t dislike anything. This was my first time at a yoga retreat, but it exceeded my expectations. The location was incredible, so peaceful and cozy. The yoga studio had a beautiful view of palm trees. Starting each day with yoga practice was fantastic. I really enjoyed being introduced to various yoga styles. The food was delicious, and we received excellent service.
Helpful ReviewThese are just suggestions, but we should schedule the additional activities offered alongside the yoga sessions differently to allow more time. I loved taking walks in the rice fields, but I didn’t have enough time because of the scheduling.
Another thought, regarding meals, maybe we should consider offering only 2 options so that everything can be prepared at the same time and we can all eat together, instead of one by one. The variety of teachers, the always present staff who cater to almost all your needs, and the limited number of participants to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in line with the place.
I’m leaving! This place is like an oasis nestled among rice fields. I had such an amazing time here and met the most lovely and fascinating people. One of the yoga instructors, Paby, absolutely stood out. She was so passionate and provided a wide variety of options for all levels. We also had other teachers who introduced us to different techniques. The activities were really cool, like making chocolate, going on an herbal walk, and even learning how to cook. The accommodation is just as described – basic but perfectly fine. And the pool is a great addition. Ariel, the owner, is such an intriguing person, and the staff in general were incredibly helpful and friendly.
Helpful ReviewThe atmosphere at the retreat was really positive and pleasant. Ariel made sure that everyone felt comfortable. We also really liked the program, as the yoga classes were suitable for both beginners and advanced practitioners. All in all, it was very relaxing despite the numerous activities.
Helpful ReviewWe had an absolutely wonderful time! We had so much fun participating in the activities and we learned a lot about Balinese culture. The yoga classes were also really good, and let’s not even get started on the amazing food! Ariel and the staff were super nice, and the location was so quiet and peaceful. Plus, the facilities were always kept clean.
Helpful ReviewOne week flew by quickly, and when you’re traveling, there’s always something to complain about, especially when you’re tired from the journey or feeling culture shocked. But, honestly, it doesn’t really matter in the end. The retreat at Firefly gave us incredible memories and experiences that brought so much joy and love into our lives. It was a truly healing experience!
Immersing ourselves in Balinese culture at Firefly was something else. Every moment was worth it. The classes were informative, the schedules were exciting, the food was amazing, and the company was beautiful. It felt like being part of a close-knit family. Firefly became our home away from home, and we made lifelong friends there.
Ari, the heart and soul of the Firefly community, held us all together like a family. His passion and love for everything he does is palpable. The atmosphere of watching sunrises over the rice fields, starting the day with yoga and a communal breakfast buffet was so satisfying. It made us ready to seize the day. The yoga classes catered to all levels and taught us so much. The menu offered so many options that even with two people, it was hard to try everything. And trust me, you’ll be dreaming about the dishes you had.
Once you leave Firefly, you’ll already be planning your next trip back to this amazing family!
Helpful ReviewLet’s go on a tour exploring yoga and herbal medicine. We’ll also have the chance to experience traditional culture and meet like-minded people.
Helpful ReviewThe pool was too small for the number of guests, the bathroom didn’t have any hooks for towels, and there were only 2 sun beds for 12 guests. Plus, on the last day, we didn’t have any water in our room. However, the location was great, the food was delicious, and there were plenty of activities to keep us entertained.
Helpful ReviewPabie, the food and yoga teacher, offers incredible experiences like making chocolate, crafting Jamu, and going on exciting excursions.
Helpful ReviewI was really bummed out about the quality of the yoga classes. About half of them just weren’t up to par – not enough warm-ups, difficult poses missing, and so on. I think it’s because some teachers were sick and a substitute came in, but the class was way below the usual standard.
On the bright side, the other half of the yoga classes were awesome. They were all beginner-level and well-explained. However, I feel like the price we paid doesn’t match the quality of the classes. If they improve the class quality, everything would be fantastic! ?
The location of the place is nestled amidst beautiful rice fields, and you have to walk up a small hill to get there. No cars can drive there, so it’s very quiet and peaceful. There was some construction happening nearby, but it didn’t bother us much. The food was delicious, and the excursion gave us an authentic glimpse into Balinese culture and lifestyle. The staff were all extremely friendly, and the room we stayed in was gorgeous.
Helpful ReviewThe yoga retreat offers great value for money. The location is beautiful and peaceful. The food served is not only healthy but also scrumptious. Plus, Ariel ensures that the activities are not only enjoyable but also well-planned. I’m definitely coming back!
Helpful ReviewI had a bit of trouble finding the location, especially because the drivers were going back to the retreat. We had a substitute yoga teacher who wasn’t very experienced and didn’t speak English, which could have been risky for some of us. However, the rest of the staff were fantastic. Ariel, the owner, seemed more like a businessman and sometimes talked down to women, but he was still a nice and interesting guy when he wasn’t doing that. I would have liked more yoga and spiritual programs, as it seemed more like a touristy retreat. The activities were a bit spread out, so we didn’t have much time to explore the town or have free time. The facilities were great, but it would have been nice to have a chill-out area where we could relax and hang out with others. There also could have been more chairs around the pool. The location was amazing, surrounded by rice fields and away from the busy city center. The kitchen staff and most of the yoga instructors were really good, especially Enny in the kitchen. The food was excellent and I felt healthier after the retreat. The cultural day was a pleasant surprise and I enjoyed the extra activities. Overall, it was a lovely and relaxing week where I met some incredible people.
Helpful ReviewThe cleanliness of the rooms/bathrooms is something simple and rustic. But you can easily ask the staff to give it a sweep.
The schedule is great, not too packed to leave some free time, but also perfect for making connections and discovering the culture.
The staff around Ariel is lovely (special mention to Ani) and extremely helpful.
Yoga: it’s all about practice, exploration, meditation, and the diverse philosophy of the instructors.
The food is excellent, with a wide selection of dishes and top-notch organization.
It’s definitely a great value for the price.
The classes, in general, seem to have a nice atmosphere.
Helpful ReviewThe bathroom stayed wet for the whole week, so when you showered there was a big pool in the middle that didn’t dry at all. The food, the staff, and the place were situated right in the middle of the beautiful rice fields.
Helpful ReviewIt was an amazing experience meeting incredible people from various walks of life. Skilled and patient instructors taught me yoga, and they were incredibly welcoming and friendly.
Helpful ReviewSometimes it feels like we have no choice and we’re stuck eating the same old egg for breakfast. It’s like the yoga instructors only offer one option when it comes to food.
Helpful ReviewThe “Bali experience” is maybe too staged and scripted for tourists. I was hoping for something more authentic and sincere. It’s a calm place with a relaxed atmosphere. The staff working there is very friendly and always smiling.
Helpful ReviewThe retreat is amazing! I love how you can come with a group and leave with the same people. They organize the day well, and there’s plenty of time to do your own thing or socialize. Ariel is such an intriguing and calm person, and their dry sense of humor is so amusing. You’ll definitely enjoy it!
Helpful Review¡No hubo nada malo! El lugar, la comida, las clases de yoga, el servicio, las actividades…todo estuvo perfecto.
Helpful ReviewI treated myself to a yoga retreat as a well-deserved break after two years of non-stop work. I thought I would find peace and quiet there, but I ended up gaining so much more.
The week’s schedule was carefully planned, with yoga sessions every morning at sunrise and every evening at sunset. I can’t even describe how amazing it felt for my back. And let me tell you, Pepi, the yoga instructor (I’m not sure if I’m spelling that right), made a huge difference in my journey.
Ariel, the owner of the place, was always there. He organized classes in everything from chocolate making to local cuisine, giving us a taste of his way of experiencing Bali. It was all such a delight to be a part of.
The day trip to the family temple is something I will never ever forget. We got to learn about Hinduism, plant rice in their fields, witness the making of local food, and even watch traditional dancing and music. It was truly a lovely experience.
And let me just say, the staff at FireFly are the best. Their presence and the way they served us during our stay brought tears to my eyes when it was time to leave. A special shoutout to Aisha, Agung, and everyone else in the kitchen.
I came to this retreat hoping to feel relaxed, and boy did I achieve that. But I also met incredible people from all over the world and had life-changing conversations and experiences that I will never forget. It’s worth so much more than what I paid, and I hope that future customers will cherish the special atmosphere created by Ariel, the staff, and the teachers.
Bless their souls, and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Helpful ReviewEverything was well organized and the food was amazing! The staff was incredibly friendly and Ariel did an outstanding job. Everything was on point!
Helpful ReviewWe had the perfect balance of exploring Bali’s culture, making friends, and practicing yoga! The accommodation was absolutely beautiful, with a pool that served as a great hangout spot. The food dishes were all amazing and the staff took such great care of us. The group I was with was so friendly and it was incredible how quickly we got to know each other because we spent so much time together.
Ariel, our host, really impressed us with his professional skills during the chocolate workshop and the herbals tour. He made sure we had a great time and learned a lot!
Paby, one of our yoga instructors, was such a sweetheart and taught the best yin, yinyang, and vinyasa classes ever! It was a truly rejuvenating experience.
Ubud itself is such an adorable town, right by the monkey forest. We had a free day and the retreat organized a shuttle to help us explore both. I highly recommend checking out the Pyramids of Chi, which are only a 15-minute walk from the retreat. They are definitely worth a visit!
Helpful ReviewWhat an incredible week! The location of this place was absolutely lovely. I felt like I was experiencing the real Bali. The yoga classes were amazing and the food was delicious. The organized activities provided were fantastic. Although this place has a rural and slightly rough vibe, it only adds to its charm. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.
Helpful ReviewAriel and her team were amazing! They had immense knowledge and were so much fun to be around. We also had an incredible group of people who thoroughly enjoyed each other’s company. The village excursion exceeded expectations – we absolutely loved the cooking class, chocolate making, and herbal tea tasting. I thought I was only coming for the yoga, but I got way more than that! Thank you, Ariel and your incredible team ❤️
Helpful ReviewThe Perfect Retreat is amazing! The room is beautiful, the food is excellent, and the yoga classes are very good. The staff is great and they offer interesting activities. Plus, everyone is super friendly. I highly recommend it. Thank you, Ariel, for everything!✨
Helpful ReviewSometimes the yoga mat has a trail of ants on it, and it can be distracting. But since we are in the middle of a tropical nature setting, you can expect bugs, ants, and mosquitoes. So make sure to bring insect repellent with you.
I absolutely loved waking up to the stunning view of the rice paddy fields and having the pool just right next to it. Ariel and the staff here are incredibly warm and friendly, and each meal they served was absolutely delicious!
The variety of yoga sessions offered were just perfect, not too difficult but still challenging enough. And let me tell you, the Thursday morning meditation and sound healing session was simply amazing!
Everyone in our group was so open and friendly, and Ariel’s personal story is truly uplifting and motivating. I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to share this incredible experience with such a lovely group of people.
Helpful ReviewIt ended and I highly recommend it! The host and staff were friendly and kind-hearted. The schedule was perfectly balanced, offering a variety of activities such as different types of yoga classes, Balinese culture experiences, and cooking classes. You’ll love the delicious and colorful menu options to choose from. The retreat is also in a great location with a beautiful view. 🙂
Helpful ReviewThat place is truly magical, nestled in the heart of rice fields. The staff there are incredibly kind, ensuring everything is spotlessly clean. My group made me feel right at home, like I belonged. They offer various types of yoga, providing opportunities to learn and grow. Even though I hadn’t practiced in a while before attending the retreat, the instructors were always there to correct my postures and help me improve. And let me tell you, Ariel is one heck of a nice guy, just don’t take him too seriously ?. I honestly wish I could give them more than 5 stars because they truly deserve it.
Helpful ReviewYoga could have been more challenging or open to different skill levels, but it was mostly a relaxing and stretchy type of practice. However, I still enjoyed it because the instructors were very nice. The only downside was the long introductions and limited movement. It would’ve been better if there was more balance in the class.
The yoga mats were smelly and I wasn’t sure if I should clean them with windex or antibacterial spray.
On the other hand, I absolutely loved the facility, the staff, the location, and the program. The variety of workshops offered was great. The food was innovative and delicious, although a bit oily. However, the best part was that I didn’t get any Bali belly, so I’m really happy about that. The highlight of the experience was the Balinese tour and the amazing staff.
Helpful ReviewLet’s do less activities and concentrate more on yoga/meditation. I must say, I really loved this experience. The food was really good and the people were absolutely wonderful. I can totally recommend it!
Helpful ReviewI really enjoyed the cultural activities at this retreat. That was one of the reasons why I chose it. However, I wish there was more focus on yoga than other activities. Sometimes it felt like yoga wasn’t the main focus. It’s not the owner’s fault, but it was disappointing to see one person in the group using this retreat as a cheaper alternative to an all-inclusive hotel. They had no intention of participating in anything other than showing up for meals. This created extra work for the kitchen staff as they consistently ordered more food than they could eat. It created a bad atmosphere with other people in the group and showed disrespect towards the owner, who puts a lot of effort into organizing the retreat. The owner runs most of the non-yoga activities himself. It also shows disrespect towards the yoga teachers and other staff. Though the owner mentioned that this rarely happens, I hope they can address this issue in the future when it does occur, as it affects everyone else’s experience. Despite this, the retreat was wonderful. The surroundings were beautiful and the facilities were good. The value for money was excellent. All the staff were helpful and kind. The food was very good and the yoga teachers were great. I appreciated having a variety of styles being taught, as well as the inclusion of cultural activities alongside the yoga classes.
Helpful ReviewMaybe you could consider making the tempeh steak bigger, haha. I really enjoyed the activities, food, and atmosphere.
Helpful ReviewI don’t have any complaints, but I do have a suggestion: Instead of having to ask the staff every time, it would be great if tea, coffee, and salt were readily available to guests. Our experience at Firefly was absolutely incredible! The group was amazing, the atmosphere was perfect, and our stay was just perfect. Unlike other “bubble” yoga retreats, this one had so much more to offer than just yoga. There were plenty of other interesting activities to keep us entertained. The staff and Ariel treated us like family, which made the whole experience even more special. I’ll never forget this fantastic experience. Thank you!
Helpful ReviewThe menu offers vegan and veggie options. It’s animal friendly and located near a forest and local rice fields. You won’t have to deal with any street confusion. If you’re a nature lover, you might just fall in love with it!
Helpful ReviewI really liked the Balinese excursion in the program, but personally, I didn’t think it matched the vibe of the retreat. It felt a bit too touristy, but in the end, I did learn a lot about Balinese culture.
If you’re looking for a retreat where you can spend time alone or with a friend without interacting with others, I wouldn’t recommend booking this retreat. It really affects the group atmosphere in a negative way. However, overall, the retreat was excellent! I had a lot of fun, even though they call themselves a “budget retreat.”
The program delivered what was promised. The yoga instructors were friendly and professional, and the food was delicious and fresh. The staff there were incredible! I had a great time and made a few new friends for my future travels. Despite the packed schedule, there were a few hours each day to do as you pleased.
Helpful ReviewThe participants and the staff had such an amazing energy. I got to meet and become friends with so many incredible people.
Helpful ReviewThe environment in the rice field room is bright and airy, and the staff and operators are incredibly friendly. The food here is also delicious. I’ve made friends because the programs they offer connect you with others.
Helpful ReviewWow! It has been such a heartwarming and unforgettable experience! The place, the staff, the guests, the food, the location – everything has been incredible. It’s truly a wonderful space that promotes wellness and harmony through yoga, connecting with nature, and building relationships. Thank you so much for everything. We will definitely come back and recommend it to others.
Helpful ReviewThis week was absolutely amazing! I loved not only doing yoga, but also the fact that the location was so remote – it was incredibly relaxing. The activities besides yoga were super interesting too! It wasn’t your typical, spiritually fancy yoga retreat, which was perfect for me. And let’s not even get started on the food – it was absolutely AMAZING. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and Ariel, our host, was the nicest and funniest person ever!
Helpful ReviewI absolutely loved everything about the retreat! The environment was so peaceful, surrounded by beautiful rice paddy fields, and all of us woke up with a breathtaking view of the sunrise. The meals were delicious and fresh, even though they were vegan and prepared upon request. The yoga classes were a lot of fun, with different levels ranging from basic to intermediate. I really enjoyed learning from instructors with diverse backgrounds. We also got to experience the vibrant culture of Bali through excursions organized by the retreat center. We learned how to prepare traditional Balinese dishes and herbal remedies. Plus, I made some amazing connections and met participants who are now my good friends. Overall, it was such an incredible experience! Thank you so much, Ariel, for planning and organizing such a fulfilling retreat!
Helpful ReviewI only had a struggle with the poor water pressure on some days during my stay. But overall, the space was so relaxing and inviting, and it definitely didn’t come off as pretentious at all. It was exactly the kind of place I had been hoping to find. The rooms were comfortable, the food they served was top-notch and absolutely delicious, and the included experiences were so entertaining. As a first-timer in yoga, I found the different varieties they offered to be absolutely brilliant. The whole vibe of the place was just perfect. Ariel has done an amazing job setting this place up at such an affordable price. I really hope I get the chance to return one day!
Helpful ReviewThe location is beautiful and serene, with great value and amazing food.
Helpful ReviewThe water pressure in the shower felt amazing!
Helpful ReviewThis place has everything you could ever want. The location is absolutely stunning with the rice fields, river, and jungle surrounding the eating area and yoga shala. The staff are incredible and they really bring a positive energy to the whole place. And let’s not forget about the food – it’s not only delicious, but also healthy, fresh, and there’s plenty of it. The activities offered here are also top-notch and a great way to immerse yourself in Balinese culture. Trust me, this has been the best experience in Ubud, no doubt about it!
Helpful ReviewI didn’t really have any issues, but the owner Ariel was super helpful and friendly. He even gave a birthday cake to one of the guests. The staff was really nice and the service was great. The yoga sessions were good and the vegetarian meals were delicious. We had a great time at Firefly with all the fun activities they offered. Thumbs up and thank you!
Helpful ReviewDon’t be scared of small insects; it’s perfectly normal since we’re surrounded by nature. Ariel and the team are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The location is nestled amidst the jungle and rice fields. The yoga classes are fantastic, as well as the cultural activities. The rooms and the swimming pool are great. I suggest opting for air conditioning in the bedrooms. The food there is exceptionally delicious. We visit to rejuvenate ourselves, reconnect with nature and our bodies for detox, though spirituality takes a backseat. I highly recommend it and hope to visit again someday with a big smiley face! ?
Helpful ReviewThe bathroom should have provided more privacy and separation from the room. This place is so chill, with amazing service and atmosphere. They offer some really nice activities and programs, plus plenty of free time to relax and do our own thing. It’s absolutely perfect!
Helpful ReviewI wish the hostel had a bit more of a quiet/meditative atmosphere. It would have been nice to have more meditation sessions. It would also have been great to have a brief introduction to yoga and poses. Some of the classes were quite challenging and difficult for beginners. Nonetheless, we had a great time and would definitely recommend it! The location was excellent, the rooms were beautiful, the pool was amazing, the food was good, and the staff were friendly.
Helpful ReviewThe yoga at this place was just okay because they had a lot of different teachers who varied in quality. Some were great while others not so much. But hey, at least it’s beginner/intermediate level, so that’s good to know. And yeah, there are a bunch of bugs around, but I mean, it’s in the middle of a jungle and rice fields, so I guess it’s not a big deal.
But let me tell you, this place is perfect for backpackers on a budget who want to experience Balinese culture in a beautiful and healthy setting. The retreat’s location was absolutely stunning! The rooms were super comfy, the food was absolutely delicious, and they had just the right amount of activities to keep you entertained. Plus, the people in the group were really amazing, and I think that’s the case every week. Ariel, the owner, is such a welcoming, knowledgeable, and hardworking person, and his background is just fascinating. Seriously, the cooking class and the chocolate making class were the absolute highlights for me.
Helpful ReviewI was pleasantly surprised by everything! The place is like heaven on earth with its stunning beauty, peaceful nature, and serene atmosphere. The food tasted absolutely delicious and the staff went out of their way to be helpful and kind. The classes exceeded my expectations and were fantastic. I really wish I could extend my stay here.
Helpful ReviewShould you book this retreat? *Inhales* Absolutely ? ! Out of all the retreats I’ve experienced in Ubud, including one that falls within the same price range, this one surpasses them all. It’s simply the best ?.
Helpful ReviewAriel, you are truly the best owner and organizer! The week I spent there was incredibly well organized by you, and I gained more experience than I ever expected. Your communication skills are outstanding, and because of that, our group became friends from the very first day of the retreat. I want to express my gratitude to you and your staff for always having a smile on your faces, being helpful and friendly, and providing us with amazing food. I’m already planning on coming back next year and will definitely recommend this place to anyone I know. Bravo to you, Ariel, for running such an incredible place! Once again, thank you, and I’ll see you next year!
Helpful ReviewThe yoga retreat doesn’t have that classic yoga feel, as it’s catered towards beginners and doesn’t include the spiritual aspect of yoga. However, I did meet some amazing people! Everyone starts on the same day, and the location is fantastic. They offer a variety of yoga classes along with other fun activities. The atmosphere is super laid-back, and the staff is just wonderful. Plus, the owner is really relaxed.
Helpful ReviewEverything surpassed our expectations, from the rooms to our stunning shared home, the incredible food, and the thoughtfully planned activities. The food alone is worth mentioning – it could easily rival a restaurant’s quality. The portions were ample, providing enough sustenance to fuel you for three meals a day, and they even offer unlimited tea. The location itself is a dream, surrounded by peaceful rice fields and locals, yet conveniently close to the city center for those wanting to explore Ubud.
Our main host, Ariel, is an absolute gem. He effortlessly combines humor and wisdom without giving off an air of superiority, unlike some gurus you might encounter at yoga retreats. The atmosphere was always filled with joy and we all developed close relationships. Whether you’re traveling alone or with someone, I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone, with a special mention to Ariel, Beppi (whose name I may have mispronounced, but couldn’t find on the teacher list – she was excellent), Raldo, Agun, and the rest of the staff.
Helpful ReviewThe location is great, the food is good, the yoga is great, and the room is very nice.
Helpful ReviewJust make sure you’re ready for the bugs – bring bug spray and mosquito coils, and you’ll be good. Oh, and get used to falling asleep with the sound of geckos! They’re everywhere here. The people here are incredibly friendly, we had an amazing time. We did yoga twice a day and the meals were delicious. Not to mention the beautiful surroundings and the incredible Balinese massages we got. And let’s not forget the adorable ducks in the rice fields! Our schedule was packed with fun activities like visiting a Balinese Village, cooking classes, tea tasting, and even chocolate making! There was so much to do, we couldn’t get bored.
Helpful Review1/ The location was great because it wasn’t too far from town and you could easily get a Gojek. Plus, it was also nice and secluded, which was exactly what I was looking for to escape the city’s hustle and bustle. It was the perfect location.
2/ The rooms were really nice and just the right size for a week-long stay. The best part was that they overlooked the beautiful paddy fields, giving you a peaceful and serene experience.
3/ Ariel and his staff were incredibly courteous. His staff were such a pleasure to be around, always saying yes to our requests and being so humble. They always had a smile on their faces, making the retreat even more enjoyable.
4/ The yoga instructors were absolutely fantastic. They had a great pace during the classes and didn’t force us into difficult poses. They always offered options based on our flexibility, so whether you were a beginner or advanced, you would definitely enjoy the classes here.
5/ The retreat’s schedule wasn’t overwhelming at all. There were always breaks between activities, allowing for a truly relaxing experience.
6/ I can’t stress enough how amazing the food was. It was both healthy and delicious, making it a complete winner.
I absolutely loved my experience here and would definitely recommend this retreat. It’s definitely worth the money.
Helpful ReviewI really wanted to do yoga twice a day every day at this amazing yoga retreat. The yoga teachers were top-notch and the food, oh my goodness, it was absolutely delicious for both vegetarians and vegans. Not to mention the breathtaking views! Ariel and his team went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was incredible. The cultural excursion, garden tour, and classes that were included in the program were simply awesome. I’m so grateful for this retreat, as it has made me a better yogi and I’ve learned so much about Balinese culture. I highly recommend it!
Helpful ReviewThe Firefly Retreat, located amidst picturesque rice fields near the vibrant town of Ubud, offers a serene oasis in Bali. As soon as you step foot onto this enchanting property, you instantly feel at home, enveloped by the exotic beauty of the island. The staff and host go above and beyond to ensure that every desire of their guests is met. The breathtaking view from the rooms is an absolute delight, and the tranquility of the surroundings makes it an ideal setting for a yoga retreat. While the accommodation may not be a luxurious resort, we lacked nothing when it came to amenities and essentials. The yoga sessions take place outdoors, in close proximity to a peaceful forest, creating a natural symphony of trickling water, rustling leaves, and melodic animal sounds. It is the perfect place to find inner peace, while also gaining invaluable knowledge about yoga and Balinese culture. With an array of enlightening programs, such as chocolate and herbal tea workshops, you will leave this retreat feeling truly connected to the vibrant Balinese traditions. In summary, I couldn’t think of a more ideal destination for a yoga retreat than the Firefly Retreat.
Helpful ReviewThe cleaning of the rooms could still be improved, but it hardly bothered anyone. It was all about the inner feeling, not the external circumstances ? The atmosphere was relaxed, and you felt as comfortable as being with family. The yoga sessions were amazing and varied ?.
Helpful ReviewThank you Ariel and Aldo for welcoming me and making me the only participant in this online course. The yoga lessons were amazing, with a good variety and clear explanations. Ariel thoroughly explained the properties of the food during the cooking lessons, and together we made some delicious dishes. Unfortunately, they mentioned that due to the low number of participants, the online course will be discontinued. It’s such a shame because it offered incredible value and brought a touch of Balinese sunshine and exoticism to my lockdown days. I appreciate that this is a non-profit organization and the money goes towards helping the local community. Thank you both for providing me with such a wonderful experience!
Helpful ReviewI had a great time participating in this online retreat! I met some lovely people with great hearts, did some yoga, and even learned a few new recipes.
Helpful ReviewI thought this new experience was really good, despite it being online due to the Corona Virus lockdown. I enjoyed the mix of Yoga with Raldo; he was an excellent teacher and I learned a lot. I also found cooking with Ariel very interesting, as her tasty recipes were easy to follow. Overall, everything was good.
Helpful ReviewA little more hygiene wouldn’t hurt, you know? I prefer being away from the crowds, with rice fields and forests all around me. The staff, they were really nice, they even remembered all of our names. The included massage was amazing and the cooking classes, they were just awesome.
Helpful ReviewI loved everything about it. Although some of the more experienced yogis might prefer more advanced classes, as a beginner myself, I thought it was perfect for my level. The location of the retreat was just amazing. Surrounded by rice fields and farms, it was incredibly peaceful and beautiful. And even though it was a bit off the beaten path, it only took us about 15 minutes to drive to the center of Ubud, so we had easy access to restaurants and shopping.
The food at the retreat was absolutely delicious. They had an amazing menu of vegetarian dishes to choose from. And let me tell you, all the staff there were so kind and helpful. They made our stay even more enjoyable. The yoga teachers were also fantastic. They were very supportive, especially since I was a beginner. They really helped me get into the swing of things.
One of the highlights of the trip was our day trip to Ubud. We got to visit a primary school, a temple, and try some traditional food. It was such a unique experience. Oh, and the cooking classes were a blast too. We learned how to make jackfruit curry and chocolate. It was so much fun.
Overall, I had a wonderful time. The retreat exceeded my expectations in every way. Whether you’re new to yoga or already an expert, I highly recommend it.
Helpful ReviewAriel and her staff were kind, accommodating, and highly organized. They offered a good variety of yoga classes taught by different teachers. They also provided a great selection of fun activities and a fantastic massage. The retreat was situated in a beautiful, tranquil setting, a bit outside of town. However, it was still conveniently close to town, in case you wanted to visit. The rooms were comfortable and the food was delicious too.
Helpful ReviewEet kleine porties.
Helpful ReviewIn the evenings, there were tons of bugs because it was the rainy season. But Ariel and his team still worked really hard to create a one-of-a-kind yoga experience at this retreat. The rooms were super comfortable, big, and had air conditioning. The views of the rice fields were absolutely stunning, especially from the swimming pool. They had a bunch of experienced yoga instructors who could teach different styles. The other activities on the schedule were really fun too, like the massages. The staff was really friendly, helpful, and fun to chat with. All in all, it was a great deal and I would definitely recommend it to other travelers.
Helpful ReviewI struggled with the yoga, it was a bit difficult for me. Throughout my week there, we had various instructors but they didn’t offer much help during my practice. It’s definitely not meant for beginners. Moreover, I expected the food to have more healthy options. However, I really enjoyed my room and all the extra activities that Ariel organized. One thing I absolutely love about this place is that it’s a not-for-profit business, and a portion of the money I spent goes towards supporting education for underprivileged children.
Helpful ReviewI am really enjoying the food, room, pool, activity, teachers, staff, and Ariel!
Helpful ReviewThe surroundings are peaceful and attractive, the location is good, the staff is friendly, and the yoga sessions are well-organised.

Les cours de yoga de Paby m’ont vraiment plu, tout comme l’humour d’Ariel.

March 3, 2024 at 12:00 amI would have loved to attend yoga classes on the first and last days of the week. The whole week was fantastic. The yoga classes were amazing, the food was delicious, and everyone in the group and the staff were so nice. The location was peaceful and the rooms were cozy. The activities outside of yoga, like cooking classes and excursions, were interesting. I would come back and do it all over again in a minute. This experience helped me in many ways. Paybi was an awesome yoga teacher, and I appreciated the variety in the classes. Ariel and Rémi took great care of us.

February 19, 2024 at 12:00 amI didn’t like the welcome from Ariel and Reimi. I found them unprofessional and rigid, with a really heavy energy. Reimi always seemed to be trying to please Ariel, who had a huge ego. During the chocolate cooking class, Ariel wouldn’t even touch our spoons, using a tissue to test the density of the chocolate. But when he needed to salt our cups, he used his fingers without gloves. His arrogant and superior attitude really got to me, and I ended up in tears. I simply asked about a discrepancy in the payment, but he became defensive and negative, judging me and making me cry. Throughout the stay, Ariel and Reimi were rude and domineering, making me feel uncomfortable with their dense and negative energy. Ariel seemed more comfortable with male guests and never greeted us upon arrival. Even though the food was often lacking and we were hungry, I enjoyed the location, the natural surroundings, the restaurant service, and the kind Balinese waiters and chefs. The herbal tasting was enjoyable, as were the professional and positive instructors Alex and Peby. The cleaning staff were always friendly and cheerful, adding to the peaceful atmosphere of the place.

January 28, 2024 at 12:00 amThe FireFly retreat exceeded my expectations. When you arrive there, you feel like you’re entering a peaceful bubble, where the silence and the sounds of the local wildlife do their magic. It’s truly a space where you can go to disconnect and reflect. There are several teachers, and the most interesting part is that each class is different, so you can experience various types of yoga. Everything is meticulously planned down to the smallest detail. The staff is lovely, always willing and smiling. The meals they prepare are on another level: one delicious dish after another, plentiful, fresh, healthy, and VERY tasty. Ariel is amazing, he knows a lot about Bali and all the workshops they offer. It’s a retreat that allows you to experience the beauty of Bali, without luxury or extravagance, surrounded by nature, inviting you to connect and find beauty in the little things. I already miss it, I will definitely repeat. Thank you, Macarena (Argentina)

January 24, 2024 at 12:00 amI highly recommend this retreat! It was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had. As a female solo traveler, I felt really safe there and the staff really takes care of all your needs. The rooms may not be 5-star, but they have everything you need and are very clean. I loved that it was surrounded by rice fields, which made for a peaceful stay away from the city noise. You can still easily access everything you need, like supermarkets, laundry rooms, and Ubud Centre. This retreat offers more than just yoga, such as traditional cooking classes, insights into Balinese culture, delicious food, and great yoga teachers. I made many new friends and had an unforgettable experience. Thank you Ariel, Remy, Anni, Paby, Firefly. I will definitely be coming back!

January 14, 2024 at 12:00 amThe garbage bags piled high just down the bottom of the entrance to the retreat didn’t sit well with me. It gets really dark outside at night. Maybe we could add some lights along the pathway?
I loved how the yoga sessions had such variety and I got to try them all. And the food choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner were fantastic. The meals were prepared so well and looked amazing!
The whole place was spotless, which I really appreciated. The cooking classes, the chocolate making, the Balinese experience – the whole day was just amazing! And the group was so much fun. Our last night together was unforgettable.

January 8, 2024 at 12:00 amI had a tough time reaching the top of a big hill on my power wheelchair because the wheels were locked and it was very steep. I basically got stuck at the resort because of this challenging hill. Thankfully, some kind folks pushed me and made sure I didn’t slide down. As for biking on the rice terraces, it’s not possible because the trails are narrow and there are huge ravines. But the food was absolutely delicious, the yoga fellowship was amazing, the instructors were wonderful, and the pool was nice. The helpful people made it a truly great experience.

January 1, 2024 at 12:00 amThe location of the resort is peaceful and relaxing. You can easily visit Ubud if you want to. However, my husband and I preferred staying at the resort. The activities there were fun and we learned a lot about Balinese culture. The food was also delicious and healthy. They wash all the produce with mineral water, so nobody got Bali belly. The yoga classes offered a good mix of challenging and relaxing sessions, with various types and levels. I highly recommend it!

December 12, 2023 at 12:00 amDon’t complain, just enjoy your retreat! This place fulfills all your needs and you’ll have an amazing time. Ariel, the owner, not only runs the retreat but also has a restaurant called Wild Vegan. You’ll have delicious à la carte lunch and dinner there. Even if the retreat is fully booked, make sure to try Ariel’s food anyway, it’s so good! The rooms at the retreat are clean and bright, with comfy beds and a great view of the rice fields. Don’t forget to take a swim in the beautiful pool between your yoga sessions and the other activities offered. We practiced Hatha, Vinyasa, and Yin yoga with three different teachers. November 26, 2023 at 12:00 amThese are just suggestions, but we should plan the additional activities alongside the yoga sessions differently to allow for more time. I really loved taking walks in the rice fields, but I didn’t have enough time because of the scheduling.
Another thought is about the meals. Maybe we should consider offering only 2 options so that everything can be prepared at the same time and we can all eat together, instead of one by one. The variety of teachers, always available staff who caters to almost all your wishes, and a limited number of participants to maintain a serene atmosphere in line with the location.

November 19, 2023 at 12:00 amI’m leaving! This place is like a hidden gem in the midst of rice fields. I had an amazing time here and met the most lovely and fascinating people. Paby, one of the yoga instructors, was absolutely outstanding. Her passion for yoga was so evident, and she had plenty of options for all skill levels. We also had other teachers who taught us various methods. The activities, like making chocolate and going on a herbal walk, were really interesting. Oh, and let’s not forget the cooking sessions! The accommodation is simple, just like they advertised, but it’s perfectly fine. And having a pool is definitely a nice touch. October 31, 2023 at 12:00 amOne week flew by so quickly, and when you’re traveling, there’s always something to complain about, especially when you’re tired or feeling culture shock. But those things aren’t really important. What matters are the memories and experiences you’ll gain at this retreat. They’ll bring you so much joy and love. Our time at Firefly was absolutely healing! Immersing ourselves in Balinese culture was a whole other level. Every second was worth it. The informative classes, exciting schedules, delicious food, and amazing company created a community that felt like family. It became a second home and a place to make lifelong friends.
Helpful ReviewAri, who runs the Firefly community, holds everything together like a family. His passion and love shine through everything he does. The atmosphere of watching sunrises over the rice fields, doing morning yoga, and enjoying communal breakfast buffets was so satisfying. It made you feel ready to take on the day. The yoga classes cater to all abilities and cover different styles. The knowledge taught is extensive. The menu offers so many options that even with two people it’s hard to try everything. You’ll be dreaming about the dishes you had. Once you leave, you’ll already be itching to plan another trip back to Firefly!

October 1, 2023 at 12:00 amI was really disappointed with the quality of the yoga classes. About half of the classes were not up to par – they lacked proper warm-ups and didn’t focus on challenging poses in the beginning. I believe this was because some teachers were sick and substitutes were brought in, but the level of instruction in those classes was extremely low.
On the other hand, the rest of the yoga classes were fantastic. They were all beginner-friendly and well-explained. This is why I feel that the balance between the price and what was offered is not satisfactory. If they improve the quality of the classes, everything would be great!
The location of the place is amidst rice fields and you have to walk up a small hill to get there. No cars are allowed, so there is no traffic noise and it’s really peaceful. There was some construction going on at the time, but it didn’t bother me. The food was delicious and the excursion provided a wonderful and authentic glimpse into Balinese culture and daily life. The staff were all really friendly and the room I stayed in was beautiful.

– The food: really good, wide selection of dishes and top-notch organization.
– Excellent value for money.

September 18, 2023 at 12:00 amIt was pretty difficult to find and locate the location, especially with drivers getting back to the retreat. We had a fill in yoga teacher, and from my experience, I don’t think he/she was a yoga instructor. They did some positions which could have resulted in injury and didn’t speak English. However, the other instructors were amazing. The owner, Ariel, is definitely a businessman. Sometimes he made me feel like he was mansplaining towards women. I also think he seemed a little rude towards the other staff. But, when these things weren’t brought up, he was still a nice and interesting guy. Although I liked the extra activities, I would have loved some more yoga/spiritual based programs, where I could learn more about yoga. It seemed more like a tourism/yoga retreat. Plus, the activities were too spaced out, so we didn’t have time to go into town or have a lot of free time. The facilities were great, but we just needed a chill-out area where people could hang out and be comfortable, maybe with more chairs around the pool area. The location itself was great, nestled in the rice fields, away from the hustle but not far from the city center. The kitchen staff and most of the yoga instructors were really good (Special shout out to Enny in the kitchen). The food was great, and I felt healthier leaving this retreat. The cultural day was a surprise, but it turned out to be good nonetheless. I enjoyed the extra activities and had a lovely and relaxing week. Plus, I met some amazing people at this retreat.

“After two years of intense work, I treated myself to a yoga retreat. I wanted some peace and quiet, but I ended up gaining a lot more than that.
The week’s program was meticulously planned, with yoga sessions every morning at sunrise and evening at sunset. It did wonders for my back! I have to mention Pepi, the fantastic yoga instructor who made a huge impact on my journey.
Ariel, the owner of the place, was always around. He organized classes on everything, from chocolate-making to local cuisine, giving us a taste of his Bali experience. It was all so enjoyable!
The day trip to the family temple is something I’ll never forget. We got introduced to Hinduism, planted rice in their fields, watched local food preparation, and even witnessed some dancing and music. It was such a lovely experience.
I also want to mention the amazing staff at FireFly. They made my stay truly special. Aisha, Agung, and everyone in the kitchen, thank you! You brought tears to my eyes when it was time to say goodbye.
I came to this retreat hoping to relax, and I definitely achieved that. But I also met incredible people from all over the world, had life-changing conversations, and had experiences that will stay with me forever.
This experience was worth so much more than what I paid, and I truly hope that future visitors will cherish the special spirit created by Ariel, the staff, and the teachers.

Ariel, our host, did an incredible job incorporating his professional skills into the chocolate workshop and herbals tour. It added such a unique touch to our experience. And let me tell you, Paby, one of the yoga instructors, was an absolute gem! Her yin, yinyang, and vinyasa classes were the best I’ve ever taken.
Ubud itself is an adorable little town, right by the monkey forest. The retreat organized a shuttle for us on our free day, so we were able to explore both. And if you have the chance, definitely check out the Pyramids of Chi – they’re only a 15-minute walk from the retreat and so worth it!

June 18, 2023 at 12:00 amWhat an amazing week I had! The location of this place was absolutely lovely. It made me feel like I was truly experiencing the authentic beauty of Bali. The yoga sessions were fantastic and the food was incredibly delicious. I must say, the organized activities were top-notch as well. This place may be a bit rural and have a few rough edges, but that’s what adds to its charm. The staff were extremely friendly and always ready to help.

June 4, 2023 at 12:00 amSometimes, ants end up on the yoga mat and it can be distracting. But when you’re in the middle of tropical nature, bugs, ants, and mosquitos are expected. So, it’s a good idea to bring insect repellent.
I absolutely loved waking up to the breathtaking view of the rice padi fields and having the pool right beside it. The staff, including Ariel, are incredibly warm and friendly. And let me tell you, every meal was absolutely delicious!
The variety of yoga sessions offered were just perfect, not too difficult. But I have to say, the meditation and sound healing session on Thursday morning was absolutely mind-blowing!
What made this experience even more special was how open and friendly everyone in the group was. And Ariel’s story is truly powerful and inspiring. I feel so grateful to have had the opportunity to share this incredible journey with such a lovely group of people.

May 14, 2023 at 12:00 amThat place in the middle of the rice fields is simply magical. The staff there is very kind and everything is kept clean. My group made me feel right at home. You can learn so much with their different types of yoga. Even though I hadn’t practiced in a while before the retreat, the instructors would correct my postures. Ariel, he’s such a nice guy, but don’t take him too seriously ?. I give them 5 stars because there just aren’t any more that they deserve.

May 3, 2023 at 12:00 amYoga could’ve been more challenging or adaptable to different levels, but it was mostly a relaxing and stretchy type of practice. It was still great though, and the instructors were very nice. The only downside was the really long introductions and the lack of movement. It would’ve been nice to have a bit more balance in that regard. The yoga mats were smelly, so I’m not sure if they clean them with windex or antibacterial spray.
I absolutely loved everything about the facility – the staff, the location, the program, and the amazing variety of workshops they offered. The food was incredibly innovative and delicious, although it was quite oily. However, the main thing that mattered to me was that it didn’t give me any stomach troubles, so I’m really happy about that. One of the highlights of my experience was the Balinese experience tour, which was made even better by the fantastic staff.

April 24, 2023 at 12:00 amI really enjoyed the cultural activities at this retreat, which is why I chose it. However, I would have liked more focus on yoga instead of other activities. Sometimes it felt like yoga wasn’t the main priority. It was disappointing that one person in the group was clearly just using this retreat as a cheap hotel alternative. They didn’t participate in anything except showing up at mealtimes and overordering food, which created extra work for the kitchen staff. This created a negative atmosphere among the group and showed disrespect towards the owner, who puts a lot of effort into organizing the retreat and runs most of the non-yoga activities himself. It also disrespected the yoga teachers and other staff. Although the owner mentioned that this rarely happens, I hope they can address it in the future to prevent it from affecting everyone else’s experience. Apart from that, this retreat was wonderful. The surroundings were beautiful, the facilities were good, and it was definitely worth the money. The staff were helpful and kind, the food was delicious, and the yoga teachers were great. I also liked that there was a variety of yoga styles taught and that cultural activities were included alongside the yoga classes.

March 23, 2023 at 12:00 amI don’t really have any complaints, but I do have a suggestion. Instead of having to ask the staff to bring them every time, it would be nice if tea, coffee, and salt were kept accessible for guests. Our time at Firefly was absolutely amazing! The group was fantastic, the vibe was great, and our stay was perfect. Unlike other “bubble” yoga retreats, this one had a variety of interesting activities besides just yoga. The staff and Ariel made us feel like part of their family. It was truly an unforgettable experience that I’m so grateful for. Thank you!

February 22, 2023 at 12:00 amI really enjoyed the retreat, but the Balinese excursion stood out to me. It was nice, but it didn’t quite fit the vibe of the retreat in my opinion. It was a bit too touristy, but it did provide a lot of cultural learning.
If you’re looking for a retreat where you can have some alone time or come with a friend without interacting with others, I would not recommend booking this retreat. It really affects the group dynamic in a negative way.
Overall, the retreat was excellent! Despite being labeled as a “budget retreat,” I had a great time. The program matched what was promised, and the yoga instructors were friendly and professional. The food was delicious and fresh. The staff at the retreat center were amazing! I had a wonderful experience and even made some new friends to continue traveling with. The meals were vegan but they were incredibly tasty and fresh since they were prepared specifically upon request. The yoga classes were a lot of fun and catered to both basic and intermediate levels, and they were taught by a diverse group of instructors with different backgrounds. We also had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in Balinese culture by going on excursions organized by the center, where we learned about traditional Balinese dishes and herbal remedies. It was also a fantastic opportunity to form deep connections with others, as I met some participants who have become really close friends. All in all, it was an amazing experience! The location is perfect, quiet and surrounded by rice fields and locals, yet still close to the city center if you want to explore Ubud. Our main host, Ariel, is absolutely amazing. February 3, 2020 at 12:00 amThe owner doesn’t like people, talks down to them, and makes it clear he finds yoga boring. He rushed through greeting me, only caring about boasting about his multiple businesses and believing he knows what’s best. I was surprised to learn he didn’t even want to start a yoga retreat; he just did it.
Ariel should not be running yoga retreats. He doesn’t have the kindness or compassion usually found in the yoga community. Running a retreat just to be trendy and make money is insulting and a waste of money.
The food was just okay, lacking in nutritious options. The meals were heavy on carbs and lacking in protein. Breakfast was the same every day, still without any protein. I was left feeling constantly hungry and fatigued from the lack of nutrients.
While the price was lower than other retreats, that doesn’t make up for the mediocre experience.

December 16, 2019 at 12:00 amI absolutely loved everything about this retreat. From the amazing staff (Ariel, Agun and Isa) to the fantastic yoga instructor Jaime. I got totally hooked on yoga, even though it was my first time trying it, and now I can’t wait to go home and keep it up. Jaime’s yoga instruction and teaching skills were top-notch. The whole retreat made me feel right at home and like part of the family with everyone I met, and the food was out of this world. I definitely think you should consider taking this trip.

December 10, 2019 at 12:00 amI can’t think of anything that made me uncomfortable during my stay. Everything exceeded my expectations at this secluded retreat. It provided everything you needed to feel peaceful and comfortable during and after your stay. The owner, Ariel, offered amazing workshops on cooking, chocolate-making, and space travel. He also created a balanced vegan/vegetarian diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables. James, the Yoga teacher, did a fantastic job teaching various yoga styles. The staff were incredibly friendly. I highly recommend this budget yoga retreat to everyone!

November 22, 2019 at 12:00 amWe couldn’t do the journey of the cosmos because of the cloudy evenings, which was disappointing. But it wasn’t their fault, the weather just wasn’t cooperating. Jamie, the yoga teacher, is a fantastic person and teacher. I learned a lot and had a great time with him and the other guests. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The location is beautiful and you can easily walk to Ubud. The walk on the other side of the river to town is really lovely!

November 18, 2019 at 12:00 amThe owner clearly stated on the first day that he was against veganism and vegetarianism, and didn’t believe in yoga. I found his behavior very strange. As a vegan, it made me uncomfortable when he kept talking about how great chicken was all the time. The portions were also too small, so we ended up ordering extra food every day. If you can’t afford that, you might go hungry.
However, Jamie’s yoga classes were excellent, the staff was super nice, and the location was beautiful. We also met some amazing people!

November 13, 2019 at 12:00 amI stayed in the older, cheaper accommodations at the retreat. They were very basic but completely worth the price I paid. There was plenty of hot water and the ceiling fan felt great at night. Bali is known for bugs and geckos in your room, so be prepared to make friends with them. The slightly more expensive rooms looked like a big step up, so that’s something to consider. Overall, I totally recommend this retreat!
The retreat was really well balanced. There was a nice vigorous yoga practice in the morning, some activity during the day, and a slow yin practice in the evening. The yoga teacher was great, and the activities were fun. I especially enjoyed the cooking classes. Despite the busy schedule, there was still plenty of free time to explore or relax by the pool. The price was unbeatable.
I also liked how the retreat started at the same time for everyone in the group. It gave us a chance to meet and get to know each other. The location was beautiful, away from town, but still just a 30-minute walk to Ubud center. And the food was really good too. Amazing experience overall!

November 12, 2019 at 12:00 amI loved this place from the moment I arrived. The location on the rice fields and jungle was so serene. My room, which I chose for its air conditioning and private single layout, was comfortable and spacious, with its own downstairs lounge area and fridge. Each morning, I woke up to a beautiful sunrise and did yoga on the edge of the jungle, surrounded by the sounds of nature. Our yoga teacher, Jaimie, was top-notch. His friendly attitude and varied teaching style made the classes interesting and fun. The food here blew me away – locally sourced and delicious (the tempeh steak was a standout!). The retreat offered a range of activities, from the Bali Experience trip to chocolate making, all of which were superb. The ambiance and pool area were perfect for resetting and recharging. Plus, Ubud town centre was just a 30-minute walk away or a quick 5-minute taxi ride. The Pyramids of Chi, a must-visit, were only a 15-minute walk away! The staff were friendly and helpful, and the included massage was fantastic. I wish I was still there and will definitely be returning. Thank you for everything. Namaste!

October 16, 2019 at 12:00 amThe food was good. We could choose a dish for lunch and dinner. It was a shame that there wasn’t much Indonesian food. There were still options for western and healthy food. The tea and coconut were good. Breakfast included pancakes, peanut butter, chocolate spread, apple and pineapple jam, fruit, muesli, and fruit yogurt. Yoga classes were led by different teachers from Ubud. There was a plan, but it wasn’t really followed with the different yoga styles. Lots of sun salutations, planks, warriors, and downward-facing dogs caused hand pain for most of the group (10 people). There was no yoga on the day of the excursion. The outing was good. The extra activities, like cooking, were great. The resort manager has a chocolate factory in Ubud and showed us how to make chocolate.

The cultural program was top-notch – every day was filled with something new and exciting. The food was delicious, the pool was delightful, and the staff were so friendly. The people I met at the Firefly were truly incredible. The owner was so entertaining and we got to try activities like chocolate making, astronomy, and learning how to make jack fruit curry. The tour was really interesting, except for the visit to the primary school, which felt uncomfortable. The accommodation was comfortable and in a peaceful setting. The food was delicious and for the price, it’s amazing that all of this was included! I highly recommend this tour to anyone traveling on a budget.

October 7, 2019 at 12:00 amThe yoga instructors were probably the only thing that didn’t meet my expectations. I was hoping for one or two instructors to keep track of my progress and deep dive into the practice. However, the main instructor was on vacation during the retreat, so we had several substitute teachers, some more experienced than others. I understand it was a coincidental situation that happened during the week of August that I chose for the retreat. As a suggestion for improvement, I think the activities planned for the second day of the program (Tuesday) would be better on Thursday or Friday since there are no yoga classes that day, which is a rest the body needs a few days later. Other than that, everything was wonderful. I would definitely recommend it. The whole experience was fantastic and totally recommended. The best part was the group, the people you meet and share a week full of experiences that fill your soul with good vibes. Fairplay’s location is simply marvelous, surrounded by rice fields, with spectacular 360º views, and a calm and silence that’s hard to describe. The rooms are well-equipped, the food is delicious, and Ariel, the owner and founder of the space, is friendly, approachable, and gives you the warmest welcome to make you feel at home right from the start, along with the rest of the team. A wonderful wellness vacation in Ubud.

October 3, 2019 at 12:00 amWell, as I mentioned before, we could definitely do more with the place. It could really use a deep cleaning. But somehow, these “luxury problems” seem to disappear day by day. What really makes up for it all is the great warmth and hospitality at the resort. We really bonded as a group, did a lot of activities together. Firefly Resort isn’t your typical resort, it’s actually a non-profit organization that provides job opportunities for the locals. All the money goes back to the community without any profit being made. The place consists of 4 villas, all of which could use some renovation. But that doesn’t take away from its charm, if anything, living without the comfort of western standards really grounds you. The resort is nestled somewhere between the jungle and rice fields in the middle of nowhere. So it’s a wonderful place to unwind and relax. In the mornings, you hear roosters and ducks, and in the evenings, frogs and geckos. We had two hours of yoga every day (except on excursion day) with Caspian, Baby(?) and another teacher whose name I unfortunately forgot. Caspian led us through a lot of Vinyasa Yoga, but also an hour of Acro/Partner yoga, which was a lot of fun. He’s a seasoned teacher who gives lots of tips and corrections. Thumbs up for that! The food was amazing, always delicious and fresh.

September 30, 2019 at 12:00 amYou can’t expect a five-star, high-class resort here. But that’s okay, the pool could use a good pressure cleaning and some things could be more flawless. However, if you’re young and on a budget, it’s perfectly fine and clean.
There are more opportunities to lay down by the pool and more information about the program is needed. Who should I turn to for questions about the program? What should I bring, etc.?
I would suggest adding ice and iced coffee to the menu 😉 Also, maybe offer more desserts or snacks that guests can buy 😀
The place is kinda far from Ubud, so please bring back the bicycle rental! But that’s not really a complaint because it’s so wonderful out here, so quiet!! The yoga resort is perfect for what you pay for it. The staff is the nicest ever, the food is the best, and the program is great. Since it’s always one group per week, you can come alone and leave with great friends! The yoga teachers are also very good.

Reading a great article before my holiday really helped me prepare for Bali life. I ended up staying in an apartment or villa with peaceful views of authentic village life. The staff there were so warm, kind, friendly, and incredibly humble. And let’s not forget the pool – it’s filled with Spring water and you feel like you’re right in the middle of the rice and corn fields.

September 9, 2019 at 12:00 amThe owner Ariel kicked me out and ruined my experience. The reason? There were freshly painted chairs at the dinner table in the restaurant without any notice. I noticed paint on my shirt after dinner and asked him what we could do. Instead, he shouted at me for my attitude and kicked me out. In the Long Version, he didn’t like me asking to pay with PayPal and the wooden rooms upstairs were rundown compared to the nice ones downstairs. Overall, it could have been a nice retreat if not for the owner’s attitude. I recommend staying in a homestay in Ubud and doing yoga at one of the many yoga studios there. That’s what I did and had a great time and saved money. The location, staff, and yoga teacher were all great.

August 23, 2019 at 12:00 amThe regular yoga instructor was on vacation, so the week felt chaotic. You hardly ever knew which instructor you would have, so there wasn’t really a focus on improving technique. The program we were supposed to follow wasn’t really followed in terms of yoga classes. June 3, 2019 at 12:00 amPoor communication, especially when changing schedules on the fly (often due to weather conditions), caused unnecessary drama for our group, ruining the fire ceremony experience.
Adding hooks in the rooms for hanging clothes, especially in the shower/toilet area, would be beneficial. I wasn’t a fan of having a glass door on my toilet in a shared room. Luckily, my roommate never showed up, but imagine having to share that with a stranger for 8 days! 😛
It would be nice to clear the algae from the pool deck for cleanliness. Also, changing the rags used to wipe down the yoga mats daily would help prevent damp smells from clinging. Despite these minor issues, we still enjoyed swimming in the pool a lot!
The yoga classes were great, striking a nice balance between intensity and relaxation. I learned a lot about different types of yoga, which was perfect for beginners. The small class size allowed the teacher to provide more personalized support with your technique in a non-pressuring way.
Ariel, the owner, is fantastic. He’s charming, helpful, sincere, and funny. The staff is accommodating, albeit a bit forgetful at times (but remember, this is Bali, so just go with the flow!).
Overall, fantastic value for money. The inclusive package with food, drinks, fresh coconut water, herbal teas, a free full body massage, and various non-yoga activities like tours and cooking classes. If you want a well-rounded Balinese experience with quality yoga, this is the place for you!

Helpful ReviewThe space itself was amazing – clean, full of light, and with breathtaking views. My private room had a stunning view of the rice fields and I got to watch the sunrise every morning. I joined in on all the activities, including learning how to cook a delicious Balinese dinner, complete with chocolate dessert.
Ariel, the owner, and the staff were all top-notch and always ready to help with a touch of humor, especially Ariel! The food was mouth-watering, especially the Tempah steak which I could eat every day. I’m already counting down the days until next year when we can all come back and reunite. Can’t wait to see everyone again!

May 22, 2019 at 12:00 amI had to leave everyone on Sunday but my whole experience at Firefly was amazing. Ariel, who owns and runs the resort, was a super approachable and helpful host who made my stay really fun. The extra activities she put on were a blast. Jamie, the main yoga instructor, was so knowledgeable and attentive to the group’s needs. All the yoga sessions were invigorating and enjoyable, and I discovered a new love for Yin yoga. Las Vegas Lily, who supported Jamie, added great variety to the sessions. But most of all, I feel incredibly blessed to have been surrounded by such an amazing group of people from all over the world. It wouldn’t have been the same without them. This was my first yoga retreat and it completely blew me away.

Helpful ReviewI wish there was a separate smoking area that wasn’t by the pool (I don’t like being around smoke).
It would have been great to have an extra towel in the bathroom. This retreat went beyond my expectations. The yoga instructors were amazing guides and taught in a way that built on each day. The exercises helped us connect deeply, explore our minds, and let go of stored emotions. It was a transformative and beautiful experience. The week flew by and the place felt like home, with the other participants feeling like family.
Thank you Ariel for creating this space. Thanks to Jamie, Lily, and Lily for guiding us in our practice. And thanks to all the staff who were so helpful and kind. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a beautiful experience among the rice fields and jungle of Ubud.

May 1, 2019 at 12:00 amJamie, the instructor at Firefly, was excellent. He had knowledge, approachability, and provided great classes for all levels and experience. I highly recommend him as a teacher, he’s a really good guy.
The location of Firefly was away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud centre, but close enough to walk or take a taxi to all the amenities. The setting itself is beautiful and very peaceful.
Ariel, the owner, is also a really good guy. He was extremely helpful with the check-in process and answered any questions we had. He also provided great cooking classes and a stargazing presentation that was informative and enjoyable.
Overall, the experience at Firefly was perfect. I can’t fault Jamie, Ariel, and the rest of the staff.

April 30, 2019 at 12:00 amI enjoyed everything about it. The place sits right in the middle of the peaceful rice fields, far away from the noisy Ubud packed with tourists. The classes cater to every yoga level, the food is both fresh and delicious, and the program involves getting to know the local community, participating in their activities, and tasting local dishes. The rooms offer stunning views, with a pool available for relaxation after classes, and the price is a fantastic value. I met some amazing people and the time I spent there was truly one of the best experiences of my life.

April 26, 2019 at 12:00 amI didn’t really enjoy the “Balinese experience” because it was just a typical touristy guided tour with a bunch of other tourists. We visited a school, a village, and did some traditional cooking. It felt weird being in a classroom full of Balinese kids singing for us with 20 or 30 other Westerners. But hey, that’s just my personal preference.
The yoga instructor was incredibly positive and made the whole experience amazing. It wasn’t just about yoga, but about truly connecting with others on a deeper level and learning all kinds of yoga practices in a short amount of time.
The food was delicious and I especially liked that the resort was a bit outside of Ubud, so we could take walks through the rice paddies every day.
The daily yoga sessions were fantastic, and the teacher did a great job of challenging everyone, no matter their skill level.
The ceremonies were unforgettable and will always hold a special place in my heart.

April 22, 2019 at 12:00 amThe pool could use some more maintenance to prevent slippery surfaces when wet. I absolutely loved this yoga retreat! The location in the rice fields was peaceful and beautiful, though it was a bit hard to find. Ariel always helps with directions. The food was incredibly tasty, especially the breakfast buffet! They always had water, tea, and coffee available. The highlight of the retreat was the yoga and the extra experiences they organized. We did a Balinese experience, cooking class, Balinese offering class, walked in the rice fields, and more. The yoga classes were amazing. Jaime, the teacher, put his heart into every class, teaching us not just poses but also mantras and more.

April 15, 2019 at 12:00 amI absolutely loved my time here! The yoga with Jamie was fantastic, my room was clean, and the view overlooking the rice fields was amazing. I loved all the vegetarian food and appreciated the vegan options on everything. The location is so nice because it’s quiet and tranquil, although it’s a good walk to the city (~40 min). I frequently hitched a ride on scooters when I went into the busy town. The people in Ubud are so kind, and so were the hosts. I celebrated my 30th birthday here, and it was the best decision ever! Ubud will always have a special place in my heart I highly recommend this yoga retreat!

April 2, 2019 at 12:00 amI love how the resort feels like a secret magical place. The peacefulness and the dancing fireflies on the quiet ricefield at night are just amazing. Every activity is exciting and full of life and meaning. Our host Ariel is a funny, humble, kind, and smart man who loves stars and science. He makes sure all the guests feel at ease and at home, teaching us a lot about Balinese culture while making us laugh with his funny remarks. Our yoga instructor Jaime is so dedicated and passionate, sharing his love for yoga with us beginners. I learned a lot and feel like I have a strong foundation to start my own practice. The staff are all amazing and there’s always something new to learn each day. I’m sure all the other guests feel the same way. Double thumbs up for my experience! 🙂

March 30, 2019 at 12:00 amThey didn’t clean the rooms even once. They only gave us one towel per week. It was nasty. Overall, the cleanliness wasn’t good. The activities were too touristy. I only wanted to have a Balinese experience and maybe one other. I thought to myself, “This is a façade, just for tourists.” So, I ended up exploring Ubud on my own with a scooter, and I recommend it more. Jamie was the best yoga teacher; I learned a lot about different yoga styles. The location was good, so peaceful in the middle of the rice fields. I liked the food, especially breakfast.

March 25, 2019 at 12:00 amAt times, cleanliness posed an issue but it’s understandable given the location being nestled between the jungle and rice terraces. Throughout the week, I had so many wonderful experiences. I especially enjoyed the resort’s strong connection to nature and Balinese culture. The accommodations and food are simple but enjoyable. Getting to the location may be a bit challenging, but it’s definitely worth the effort for the peace and relaxation it offers. The yoga classes offered a nice blend of styles and levels, with a spiritual touch. The range of activities was diverse and engaging. I can’t wait to come back soon!

March 11, 2019 at 12:00 amThe menu needs more options but you can definitely try out different dishes and find your favorites for the week. There’s really nothing to complain about, great value for your money and a truly special experience. I highly recommend it! The program ran smoothly and all the activities were enjoyable and well-planned. The yoga classes were all taught by one instructor, which allowed for a good connection to be formed. There was a nice mix of yoga sessions but also enough consistency to practice certain poses and sequences. You could choose your lunch and dinner from a daily menu, which was a great option to have. Breakfast was a buffet with fruit, pancakes, granola, and a smoothie bowl. Don’t forget about the delicious fresh coconuts you can enjoy daily (along with unlimited herbal tea and coffee)! I went for a private room, which was actually a two-story villa with a fridge, living area, bathroom, and bedroom with air conditioning. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the property was small but cozy and refreshing. It was even prettier in person than in the pictures, which was a pleasant surprise!

March 11, 2019 at 12:00 amThe yoga teacher didn’t seem very interested in teaching or spending time with us. The classes were not good because he didn’t explain the postures well and we didn’t use blocks and straps, which are basic. It’s not good for beginners because you’re not sure if you’re doing the postures correctly and it’s not inspiring. However, the activities with Coco, the food, and the quiet location made for a really nice and relaxing time.

March 11, 2019 at 12:00 amBreakfast always got boring because it was the same every day. Even after asking the owner Ariel for milk, he refused to provide any for the coffee. For lunch and dinner, we had to choose only one item from the menu, even though some items were double the price or half the size of others. It just didn’t make any sense. It would have been better to have more than one teacher for the whole week retreat. The location in the rice fields was beautiful. We had one Australian yoga teacher, Jamie, who was nice and very good. But having more than one teacher for the whole week would have been better. The cultural program was always lovely, especially the bicycle ride and cooking lessons.

It was the perfect balance of scheduled activities and free time to explore the area on my own. Jaime, our outstanding yoga instructor, delivered a fantastic group program and really personalized it for each individual. His personal interest and care for each person was truly inspiring. February 25, 2019 at 12:00 amI thought the food was good, but it needed more herbs, spices, and veggies. Other than that, I have no complaints. They took great care of us during our stay. The schedule for the week was really well-planned, with yoga sessions in the morning and evening led by Jamie, who is a fantastic yoga instructor. I feel like I’ve learned more in one week here than I have in two years of practicing yoga at a studio.
We’ve done all sorts of yoga styles like flow, Hatha, and Vinyasa, and even talked about chakras, did some mantra chanting, and worked on our breathing techniques. On top of all that, we went on a fun bike ride with Koko, learned how to cook with Ariel, and discovered the secrets of coffee and tea with Koko.
I had some trouble with the internet connection at one point, but Ariel was there to help me out. The room was really comfy, and the location is just stunning. And don’t even get me started on the breakfast – it’s AMAZING. I’m so grateful to the whole team for giving us a taste of true Bali, its traditions, and its warm hospitality. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

February 17, 2019 at 12:00 amMy daughter wasn’t feeling well, so we decided to skip our planned lunch in Ubud and ended up arriving at the resort an hour early. Our driver called ahead to let them know we were coming early. When we got there, someone who turned out to be the owner met us, but didn’t say much. They carried one of our bags and checked us in looking a bit grumpy.
We were okay waiting in the dining area, but the rooms were just okay. My shower was ridiculously high up! The yoga classes weren’t really beginner-friendly, which was a bummer because that’s why my daughter came with me. I couldn’t believe some of the poses the instructor had us doing – I thought they were risky.
The pathways were pretty slippery, and I actually slipped and hurt myself outside my room. Despite being careful, I had a few close calls. The location was nice, surrounded by rice fields and not too far from Ubud. Meals were provided, with a set menu to choose from. The Balinese staff were amazing and super helpful – 10/10 for them. Agung always checked on my daughter when she was too sick to come to meals and remembered our names from the first day.
Koko was a fun tour guide, and the cultural experience was the highlight of the week for me. Other activities were good too, but the bike ride was a real challenge. I ended up having a bad fall, but the staff were great at checking on my recovery.

The yoga and meditation were perfect, the food was insanely good, and the setting was ideal! It’s a little hard to find, but so worth it – pure paradise! The rooms were clean, just remember you’re in the jungle so expect some visitors. And living up to its name, the fireflies are stunning!

January 31, 2019 at 12:00 amWhen we arrived, we noticed dead bugs in the room, so it could have been cleaner. We saw a gecko, but it’s understandable since we’re in the middle of rice fields. The resort definitely needs better signposting though! There’s only one sign on the main road, but it would be helpful to have another at the top of the hill.
Despite that, this budget retreat offers a lot for your money. The package includes daily activities, yoga, food, accommodation, and extras like coconuts and a massage. The pool made our stay very relaxing and enjoyable. The food, all vegetarian, is of good quality, especially the breakfast.

January 29, 2019 at 12:00 amI have never seen such a filthy place in all my travels. Even a 1-star hotel in Cairo was cleaner. The cushions stank of old sweat, blood stains on the duvet (with no cover), hair, faeces on the wall, dead bugs, rubbish strewn. On the floors, walls and furniture. Both rooms were disgusting.
We all slept terribly the first night and wondered if we would get violently ill from the food given the low standard of cleanliness. Every time someone walked past the open kitchen, the door was quickly closed. The communal toilet was right next to the kitchen and dining area.
We tried to speak to the manager and owner Ariel to resolve the issues but were told to come back tomorrow as he was on holiday. If it were my business and I lived 5 minutes away, I would definitely speak to unhappy guests. When we returned the next day, we spoke to Moshe who hid behind Ariel. We couldn’t negotiate a refund or anything with Moshe. We would have been happy to stay and eat somewhere else and join the activities, but there was nothing we could agree on. The only response we received was to read the cancellation policy. However, we didn’t cancel – we showed up. The resort failed to provide a healthy environment.
We used a local interpreter to find out more. It turns out Moshe is the owner but was hiding. The locals even knew the buildings were not suitable for occupancy. We have traveled a lot and the location of the ‘resort’ in Bali is amazing and off the beaten path (just watch out for those suitcase wheels). We were excited to spend around NZ$1200 for accommodation, food, yoga, and day excursions for 4 adults for 7 days. It seemed too good to be true, but the online reviews were positive. We were expecting something a bit run-down at this price, and that’s okay. The local staff were friendly and helpful. We were looking forward to escaping the hustle and bustle, and the chance to simplify, declutter, and be more present.

January 28, 2019 at 12:00 amI have a suggestion for the hotel staff – maybe we should install a big sign with the resort name somewhere between the beginning of the walking path and the end of the street where the taxi drops off guests. It would make it easier for people to find their way.
First off, a big thank you to the whole resort team! The owner, Koko, Agung, our awesome yoga instructor Laura, and everyone behind the scenes. They turned a group of random girls into a fantastic team with a magical atmosphere.
If you’re reading reviews and planning a yoga retreat, leave your “5-star hotel” expectations at home! This retreat has just the right amount of everything. The organization of the practice, trips, and activities is amazing, leaving you wishing your stay would never end.
The food is absolutely delicious, even for non-vegetarians like me. And if you want to add extras, the prices are fair and won’t break the bank. My favorite dish was the tempe steak!
The staff are polite, attentive, friendly, and helpful. They make you feel like part of the family by calling you by name.
Laura, our yoga instructor, did an amazing job balancing the needs of both advanced and beginner students. She created magical moments and a beautiful overall experience.
The owner is hilarious and dedicated to making sure everyone has the best possible experience. His personal touch, like sharing his 4G data when the wifi was down for maintenance, is greatly appreciated.

December 3, 2018 at 12:00 amTime flew by too quickly. We loved having Marcia as our yoga instructor for our group. I struggled to find someone to lead, but she fit perfectly. Marcia led various practices and helped us maintain a daily body flow. She was attentive to our individual needs, professional, and easygoing. She pushed us to our limits but gave us options to dive deeper without pressure. The group of young women connected beautifully. We were lucky to have met in such a wonderful setting.
The retreat location was stunning, offering a simple Balinese atmosphere. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and supportive. The program struck a perfect balance between spiritual practice, activities, and free time. The retreat lived up to its promising promotion.

November 30, 2018 at 12:00 amI have nothing to complain about. The whole program was perfect with a good mixture of down time, activities, and yoga. The staff were fantastic and very helpful, and the location is beautiful and peaceful, with the best swimming pool! Even though I’m not vegetarian, I thoroughly enjoyed the spread every day and the selection of food. I would recommend this retreat to everyone. It’s great value for money and one of the best weeks of my life.

November 26, 2018 at 12:00 amThe place is dirty because they never clean it. There are dead bugs and dust everywhere. They don’t even have a cover on the duvet. I asked them to clean my room, but they didn’t. I’ve been traveling around the world for the past 10 years, and this is one of the top three dirtiest places I’ve been to. It’s a low budget yoga retreat, so I wasn’t expecting luxury, but I did hope it would be clean.
This place would be so much better if they just cleaned up. If you want a clean room, this is not the place for you. On the upside, it’s in the middle of the rice fields, which is a good spot for relaxing. The food is good, the yoga instructor is great, and the other activities are enjoyable. It’s just a shame they don’t prioritize cleanliness.
If you feel like heading to Ubud center, you can take a walk through the rice fields, which takes about 45-60 minutes.

November 26, 2018 at 12:00 amThe air con isn’t working, but I really enjoyed the yoga practice with Marcia. She’s so knowledgeable and generous…like an old soul.

November 26, 2018 at 12:00 amThis place could be a great deal if they cleaned the rooms. The outside of the facility is taken care of, but no one seems to clean inside. The shower, floor, under and behind the bed, and bed linen all need cleaning. If they fix this, it would be a winner! It would be helpful to have more clarity on management and visibility. The first evening, there was no one around when I had smelly and dirty pillows. However, Marcia, who was in charge of yoga and meditation, was amazing and very in tune with our needs. The food was great, all made fresh.

The accommodation is splendid, the food is a real treat, there are plenty of activities, and the staff takes great care of us. Plus, I met girls from all over the world. I’ll definitely sign up for a new adventure without hesitation.

November 18, 2018 at 12:00 amIt was so incredible, guys…after a week it was all over. I immediately felt welcomed at this wonderful little yoga resort, surrounded by rice fields and jungle. Waking up to the beautiful sunrise visible from every room, we started our mornings with meditation and yoga. The Balinese experience program was amazing, led by Koko who introduced us to various activities such as visiting a school, bike tours, planting rice, making offering baskets, etc., immersing us in Balinese culture. Despite that, we had plenty of free time to simply relax by the pool. The food was fantastic…such a fantastic week with amazing people and experiences. The value for the price was just terrific.

November 14, 2018 at 12:00 amDuring my stay, I noticed that my room’s AC only blew out warm air. They said a technician would come, but it never improved. I could have opened the windows, but then I would have had to deal with mosquitoes. It was tough to sleep and work in my room. As far as I know, my room was the only one with this issue.
My first yoga retreat exceeded my expectations. The yoga was exactly what my body needed. The instructor patiently guided me through the poses. The meals were outstanding – they worked hard to prepare, serve, and clean up delicious food. The guides were funny, relatable, and remembered our names. The excursions were great, especially the Balinese Experience. Don’t miss that one – it was even better than we expected! The location was absolutely stunning!

November 12, 2018 at 12:00 amThe hygiene was lacking, the room wasn’t very clean, and the tablecloths in the dining area were really dirty. They didn’t clean very well at all. Having a closed bathroom/yoga room would have been nice to keep insects out. A well-functioning air conditioner is a must in this heat. And that wasn’t the case. This retreat deserves a “Mediocre” for this but a “Very good” for everything else. The food, the excursions, the cooking classes, yoga, and bike tours were absolutely fantastic!

November 5, 2018 at 12:00 amOur room wasn’t very clean and room service didn’t change that after three attempts. The other rooms were way cleaner.
Helpful ReviewWe didn’t like the rice field tour because it felt too fake.
The retreat week was awesome. The staff were caring and amazing. Marcia led great and varied Yoga sessions. The food was delicious. The infinity pool was a great spot to relax during breaks. The atmosphere was perfect.

November 1, 2018 at 12:00 amWe kicked off our honeymoon with a yoga retreat and it turned out to be an amazing decision! Even though my husband isn’t big on yoga, I tempted him with all the exciting excursions and Balinese experiences that came with the package. And let me tell you, we were both thrilled with the yoga sessions and everything else that was included. It was such a steal for the price we paid. Plus, the place is managed by a group of friends who are truly passionate about Bali and its culture. The yoga classes were fantastic – perfect for beginners and seasoned practitioners alike. Everyone left feeling satisfied!
Our room on the second floor had stunning views of the surrounding rice fields, and there was a lovely pool on the premises. The food was absolutely delicious (I couldn’t get enough of the soup capcay, while my husband devoured the betutu, a tempeh steak seasoned with Balinese spices). Koko, who runs the place, has a great sense of humor and a wealth of knowledge. And at night, you can catch a glimpse of fireflies fluttering around.
We highly recommend this retreat to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway, and we wish the crew all the best in their endeavors. Trust me, you won’t regret it!

October 29, 2018 at 12:00 amHonestly, I loved the retreat. I can’t complain about anything considering the amazing experience I had for the money I paid. I did feel like there wasn’t enough food for me personally, but I blame my metabolism for that one. It was easy to find more food in Ubud center and ordering extra food at the resort was cheap and delicious.
The retreat sits among beautiful rice paddies, offering stunning views from all the villas. The yoga classes were relaxed and engaging, catering to different skill levels. With both morning and evening sessions, you could explore various types of yoga with the fantastic instructor, Márcia.
The staff were kind and friendly, treating you like friends while providing top-notch service. The excursions were genuine and interesting, avoiding the typical touristy outings. Plus, there was no judgment if you wanted to skip a class or excursion and do your own thing.
Overall, the place had a family vibe and the owners seemed more focused on making guests happy than making money, creating a laid-back and relaxing atmosphere.
I want to give a personal shoutout to Koko, Ariel, and Márcia for the great conversations and laughter. I wish them and everyone else all the best in the future!

October 26, 2018 at 12:00 amThe vegan food tasted really good, but a lot of the dishes lacked protein, so many of us ended up buying extra food for dinner. I really enjoyed the yoga program, which included yoga classes, meditation, and self-reflection. I can’t believe I forgot the name of the Instructor from Portugal (I’m hoping to visit Portugal soon). I swam in the infinity pool every night. The staff was super friendly, nice, and always ready to help. I loved their unlimited herbal tea so much that I’m now making it at home. I was grateful for their recommendations on things to explore in the village.

October 25, 2018 at 12:00 amThere is everything to like! We got amazing value, saw the local area and got a taste of Bali, as well as enjoying the yoga. The team gave us a warm welcome and the location was fabulous, surrounded by beautiful countryside just a 25-minute walk from Ubud. The food was amazing, especially breakfast. The yoga classes were varied and challenging. We had great day trips and classes to keep us busy, but still had free time. I had an amazing trip thanks to everyone at Dragonfly, my fellow yogis, and our teacher Marcia. Love it!

October 22, 2018 at 12:00 amI didn’t want to go home. The only thing I’d suggest is for them to remove the stones from the shower – one night I stepped on one and had a bad fall. I really enjoyed the program – it kept us involved with just enough flexibility to allow us time to relax as well. The activities were interesting, authentic, and enjoyable. We got a real taste for Balinese culture. The yoga practices and meditation were fulfilling and informative. The location of the retreat was quiet and relaxing, yet close enough to the city for a day trip. The staff, particularly Koko, were helpful, kind, and warm. We had a wonderful group of like-minded travelers and genuinely enjoyed our experiences together. It was the kind of vacation that grew to feel like home.

October 2, 2018 at 12:00 amI absolutely adored the resort location! If you’re in need of some peace and relaxation, this is the place to be. It’s a cozy spot nestled in the middle of rice fields where you can catch a glimpse of fireflies at night. The staff is super friendly and always ready to assist with any needs you may have. There are plenty of fun activities to explore the area and culture, and Ubud is just a short drive away – the staff can even arrange transportation for you. The food is fresh and healthy, and the yoga classes were incredibly relaxing and meditative. While I prefer more challenging yoga classes, these were perfect for beginners and those looking for a slower, restorative practice. The schedule and amenities were just right for our group of 7, giving us the perfect opportunity to connect with each other and enjoy some alone time. I highly recommend this place!
