March 3, 2024 at 12:00 amI would have loved to attend a yoga class on the first and last days. I really enjoyed my whole week there. The yoga classes were fantastic, the food was delicious, everyone in the group and the staff were so nice. The location was peaceful and the rooms were cozy. The activities outside of yoga, like the cooking classes and excursions, were super interesting. I would come back and do it all over again in a heartbeat. This experience helped me in so many ways. Paybi was an amazing yoga teacher and I loved the balanced diversity of the classes. Ariel and Rémi took great care of us.

March 3, 2024 at 12:00 amThere should be a yoga class on the day of arrival and on the day of departure. I didn’t enjoy Alex’s yoga class but that’s just my personal opinion. I loved the pace of the activities offered, the meals, and the location. I really enjoyed Paby’s yoga classes and Ariel’s sense of humor.

February 19, 2024 at 12:00 amI didn’t like the welcome from Ariel and Reimi. I found them unprofessional and rigid. Their energy was really heavy. Reimi seemed to always try to please Ariel, who had an ego out of this world. During the chocolate cooking class, Ariel wouldn’t even touch our spoons, he used a paper towel to test the chocolate density. But when he had to salt our cups, he used his fingers without gloves. His arrogant and superior attitude stuck with me and made me cry as soon as I arrived. I just asked a simple question about the discrepancy in the payment, but he got defensive and judgmental, making me cry. Throughout my stay, Ariel and Reimi were disrespectful and arrogant towards me. I felt uncomfortable and their negative energy was palpable. Ariel seemed more comfortable with men than women. He never greeted us upon arrival and even ordered meat once, although it wasn’t on the menu. Despite the limited food and occasional hunger, I enjoyed the food and the surrounding nature, the restaurant service, and the friendly Balinese waiters and chefs. I liked the herb tasting and the professionalism and positive energy of instructors Alex and Balinese girl Peby. The cleaning staff was also kind and cheerful. I enjoyed the tranquility of nature surrounding the property.

January 28, 2024 at 12:00 amThe FireFly retreat surpassed my expectations. When you arrive there, you feel like you’re entering a bubble of peace, where the silence and the sounds of the animals in the area do their thing. It’s truly a space where you can go to disconnect and reflect. There are several teachers, and the most interesting part is that each class is different, so you can experience different types of yoga. Everything is very well thought out down to the smallest detail. The staff is lovely, always willing and smiling. The meals they prepare are on another level: one delicious dish after another, plentiful, fresh, healthy, and VERY tasty. Ariel is amazing, he knows a lot about Bali and all the workshops they offer. It’s a retreat that allows you to experience the essence of Bali, without luxury or extravagance, in the middle of nature, inviting you to connect and appreciate the beauty in the small things. I already miss it, I will definitely repeat. Thank you.

January 24, 2024 at 12:00 amI absolutely loved this retreat and highly recommend it! It was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had. As a female solo traveler, I felt really safe there and the staff always made sure I had everything I needed. The rooms aren’t luxurious 5 star hotel rooms, but they’re clean and have everything you need. I really liked that the retreat was nestled in the middle of the rice fields, providing a peaceful and quiet stay away from the noisy city. Despite the serene location, you can still easily access nearby amenities like supermarkets, laundry facilities, and the Ubud Centre.
One of the things I loved most about this retreat is that it offers more than just yoga. I enjoyed traditional cooking classes, learned a lot about Balinese culture, and indulged in amazing food. The yoga teachers were fantastic and really helped me experience yoga in a beautiful new way. I made some wonderful new friendships and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you Ariel, Remy, Anni, Paby, Firefly. I can’t wait to come back! 🙂

January 14, 2024 at 12:00 amI found the garbage bags piled high at the entrance to the retreat displeasing. It is very dark outside at night, so I recommend placing some lights along the pathway. The yoga sessions were diverse and I attended all of them. There were multiple food options for every meal and they were well-cooked and presented beautifully. The entire place was immaculately clean, which I appreciated. I had a great time at the cooking classes, chocolate making class, and the Balinese experience. The whole day was amazing! The group was fantastic and our last night together was unforgettable.

January 8, 2024 at 12:00 amI had to navigate up a big hill in my power wheelchair, but the wheels were locked and it was extremely difficult to reach the top. The hill was paved, but it was incredibly steep, and I ended up getting stuck at the resort because of it. Thankfully, some kind people came to my aid and helped push me up the hill to prevent sliding. Biking on the rice terraces wasn’t a feasible option since the trails were narrow and there were large ravines. On the bright side, the food was absolutely amazing, the yoga fellowship was great, and the instructors were wonderful. The resort also had a nice pool to enjoy. All in all, it was a fantastic experience, thanks to the helpful people and all the wonderful activities available.

January 1, 2024 at 12:00 amThe location of the resort is peaceful and relaxing. You can even visit Ubud if you want. But my husband and I didn’t feel like going there, we preferred staying at the resort. We had so much fun doing the activities and learned a lot about Balinese culture. Oh, and the food was amazing! It was not only delicious but also healthy. They even washed all the produce with mineral water to make sure no one got Bali belly. And let me tell you about the yoga classes, they were challenging yet relaxing. They had a good mix of different yoga types and levels. I highly recommend it!

December 12, 2023 at 12:00 amThere’s nothing to complain about, so just enjoy your retreat! If you’re looking for a retreat that fulfills all your needs, this place is it. You’ll have an amazing time. Ariel isn’t just the owner, he also runs a restaurant called Wild Vegan where you’ll get to enjoy delicious à la carte lunch and dinner. It’s so yummy. Even if the retreat is fully booked, make sure to try his food anyway hahah. The retreat rooms are clean and bright, with comfy beds and a great view of the ricefields. Don’t miss out on a swim in the beautiful pool between yoga sessions and the many activities Ariel offers. In yoga, we practiced hatha, vinyasa, and a lot of yin with three different yoga teachers. Overall, it was the best week I’ve had in Ubud. I would definitely recommend it.

November 26, 2023 at 12:00 amThese are just suggestions, but we should schedule the additional activities offered with the yoga sessions differently to allow more time. I used to love walking in the rice fields, but I didn’t have enough time due to the scheduling.
Another thought is about the meals. Maybe we should consider offering only 2 choices so that everything can be prepared at the same time and we can all eat together, instead of one by one. The variety of teachers, a staff that is always present and responsive to almost all your wishes, and a limited number of participants to maintain a serene atmosphere that matches the location.

November 19, 2023 at 12:00 amI’m leaving! This place, nestled among rice fields, is like a little paradise. I had an amazing time here and met the most delightful and fascinating people. One of the yoga instructors, Paby, stood out- she was absolutely passionate about what she does and offered a wide range of options for all skill levels. We also had other teachers who introduced us to different methods. The activities, like chocolate making, herbal walks, and cooking, were really interesting. The accommodations are simple, just as they advertised, but perfectly fine. And guess what? They even have a pool, which is a nice touch! Let me tell you, Ariel, the owner, is one interesting man and the staff in general were incredibly helpful and friendly.

October 31, 2023 at 12:00 amOne week flew by so fast! When you’re traveling, there’s always something to complain about, especially when you’re tired or experiencing culture shock. But in the end, those things don’t really matter. The memories and experiences you’ll have at this retreat will bring you so much joy and love. Firefly was an incredibly healing experience for us! Immersing ourselves in Balinese culture took it to a whole new level and was worth every second. The classes were informative, the schedule was exciting, and the food was amazing. Being part of this community felt like being part of a family. It became a second home and a place to make lifelong friends.
Ari does an amazing job of keeping the firefly community together. His passion and love for everything he does is contagious. The atmosphere of watching sunrises over the rice fields, doing morning yoga, and enjoying a communal breakfast was so satisfying. It made you feel ready to take on the day. The yoga classes catered to all abilities and the instructors had an extensive knowledge of different styles. The menu had so many options that even with two people, it was hard to try everything. You’ll be dreaming about the dishes long after you leave. You’ll already be itching to plan another trip back to the firefly family!

October 1, 2023 at 12:00 amI was really disappointed with the quality of the yoga classes. More than half of them were not up to par – lacking proper warm-ups and not challenging enough poses at the beginning. It seemed like some of the teachers were sick and a substitute came in, but the level of instruction in that class was excessively low.
On the bright side, the other half of the yoga classes were fantastic. They were all designed for beginners and explained well. However, considering the price, I don’t think the value for what was offered was good. If they improve the quality of the classes, everything would be amazing.
The location of the place is in the midst of rice fields, and you have to walk up a small hill to get there. No cars are allowed, so there’s no traffic and it’s very peaceful. There was some construction happening during my stay, but it didn’t cause any disturbance. The food was excellent, the excursion was wonderful, giving a genuine and authentic insight into Balinese culture and lifestyle. The people were all really friendly, and the room was beautiful.

– The food: very good, wide range of dishes and top-notch organization.
– Excellent value for money.

September 18, 2023 at 12:00 amIt was pretty difficult to find the location, especially for drivers getting back to the retreat. We had a fill-in yoga teacher who, in my experience, didn’t seem to be a qualified yoga instructor. They did some positions that could have caused injuries and didn’t speak English. However, the other yoga instructors were amazing. Ariel, the owner, definitely came across as a businessman and sometimes felt like he was mansplaining to women. I also noticed that he seemed a little rude to the other staff. But, he was still a nice and interesting guy when these issues weren’t brought up.
Helpful ReviewAlthough I enjoyed the extra activities, I would have loved to have more yoga and spirituality-focused programs, where I could learn more about yoga-related things. It seemed more like a tourism-focused yoga retreat, and the activities were maybe too spaced out, so we didn’t have much time to explore the town or have a lot of free time. The facilities were great, but it would have been nice to have a chill-out area where people could relax, hang out, or read a book. Also, more chairs around the pool area would have been appreciated.
The location itself was great, surrounded by rice fields and away from the hustle, but not too far from the city center. The kitchen staff and most yoga instructors were really good (Special shout out to Enny in the kitchen). The food was fantastic, and I felt healthier after leaving the retreat. The cultural day was a nice surprise, and I enjoyed the extra activities. Overall, I had a lovely and relaxing week and met some amazing people at this retreat.

July 8, 2023 at 12:00 amI treated myself to a yoga retreat after working intensely for 2 years. I was seeking peace and silence, but I gained so much more. They had a carefully planned program for the week, with yoga sessions every morning at sunrise and every evening at sunset. My back felt amazing. The yoga instructor, Pepi (I might have spelled it wrong), had a huge impact on my journey.
The owner of the place, Ariel, was always there. He offered classes on everything from making chocolate to trying local foods, giving us a taste of his way of experiencing Bali. It was all so enjoyable.
The day trip to the family temple is something I’ll never forget. We learned about Hinduism, planted rice in their fields, watched the locals prepare food, and even enjoyed some dancing and music. It was a lovely experience.
I have to mention the incredible staff at FireFly. They took care of us throughout our stay, and their kindness left me feeling emotional when it was time to leave. A special shout-out to Aisha, Agung, and everyone in the kitchen.
I came hoping to feel relaxed, and I did, but I got so much more. I met amazing people from all over the world and had life-changing conversations and experiences that will stay with me forever. May 3, 2023 at 12:00 amYoga might have been more challenging or catered to different levels, but it was mostly a relaxing, stretchy type. Despite that, it was great and the instructors were very nice. However, there were really long introductions and not enough movement. A bit more balance would have been welcomed. The yoga mats had a smelly odor, unsure if they were cleaned with windex or antibacterial spray. I loved the facility, staff, location, program, and the variety of workshops. April 24, 2023 at 12:00 amEven though I loved the cultural activities and that’s one reason I picked this retreat, I would have liked more emphasis on yoga over other activities. Sometimes it seemed like yoga wasn’t the main focus. It was disappointing that one person in the group was just using it as a cheap hotel alternative and didn’t participate in anything except showing up for meals and ordering too much food. This caused extra work for the kitchen staff and created tension with the rest of the group. It’s not the owner’s fault, but it’s disrespectful to everyone involved in the retreat. Overall, the retreat was fantastic with beautiful surroundings, great facilities, and excellent value for money. The staff was helpful and kind, the food was delicious, and the yoga teachers were top-notch. I appreciated the variety of yoga styles offered and the inclusion of cultural activities in the program. January 8, 2023 at 12:00 amI had a great week! Not only did I enjoy the yoga, but I also loved the remote location, which was incredibly relaxing. The activities, besides yoga, were super interesting! It wasn’t your typical spiritual luxury yoga retreat, which I really appreciated. The food was absolutely amazing. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Ariel was a fantastic host and just the nicest, funniest person!

January 2, 2023 at 12:00 amI absolutely adore everything about the retreat! The serene environment with a view of rice paddy fields and participants waking up to a beautiful sunrise was just perfect. The vegan meals, prepared fresh upon request, were not only tasty but also healthy. The yoga classes, ranging from basic to intermediate levels, were enjoyable and taught by a variety of instructors from different backgrounds. We got to experience the Bali culture through excursions organized by the center, where we learned about traditional dishes and herbal remedies. It was a great opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, some of whom have become close friends. Overall, the experience was amazing! Huge thanks to Ariel for planning and organizing such a fulfilling retreat!

January 1, 2023 at 12:00 amI only struggled with the poor water pressure on some days during my stay. The whole space is relaxing, inviting and not pretentious at all – exactly what I was looking for. The rooms were comfortable, the food was delicious and restaurant quality, the experiences were entertaining, and the different varieties of yoga were brilliant for a first timer like me. The vibe of the place is perfect – Ariel has done a fantastic job setting this up at such an affordable price and I really hope to return one day!

The location is beyond beautiful: nestled in the middle of the rice fields with the river and jungle on the side of the eating area and yoga shala. The staff is wonderful. They all radiate positive energy…The food is delicious, healthy, fresh and plentiful. The activities are on point and a fun way to get a Balinese insight! December 4, 2022 at 12:00 amDon’t worry about the small insects – it’s all part of being in nature. Ariel and the team at the retreat are kind, welcoming, and attentive. The location sits between the jungle and the rice fields. The yoga classes and cultural activities are top-notch. The rooms and the swimming pool are great. I suggest getting a room with air conditioning. The food is delicious. We come here to relax, reconnect with nature, and detox our bodies, rather than for spiritual reasons. I highly recommend this place and hope to return one day with a big smile on my face!

November 13, 2022 at 12:00 amThe yoga at the retreat was just okay because there were several different teachers with varying levels of quality. Some were fantastic, while others weren’t as great. It’s important to note that the yoga classes cater to beginner and intermediate levels. Despite the presence of bugs due to its location in the jungle and rice fields, it’s not a major issue.
This retreat is ideal for budget-conscious backpackers looking to immerse themselves in Balinese culture in a beautiful and healthy environment. The setting of the retreat is stunning, with comfortable rooms, delicious food, and a perfect balance of activities. The group of people at the retreat is also wonderful, and it seems to be the case every week. Ariel, the owner, is welcoming, knowledgeable, hardworking, and has a fascinating background. I particularly enjoyed the cooking class and chocolate making class.

October 2, 2022 at 12:00 amEverything exceeded our expectations, from the rooms to our beautiful shared home, the amazing food, and carefully selected activities. The food is restaurant-grade, with generously sized portions that kept me satisfied throughout the day. The location is perfect – quiet, surrounded by rice fields and locals, yet close enough to the city center for those who want to explore Ubud.
Our main host, Ariel, is a gem. He is funny and wise, without giving off a “know-it-all” guru vibe. The atmosphere was always joyful, and we all became close during our time there. Whether traveling alone or with someone, you will not be disappointed.
A special thanks to Ariel, Beppi (whose name I may have mispronounced but couldn’t find on the teacher list – she was excellent), Raldo, Agun, and the rest of the staff. Thank you for everything.

October 25, 2020 at 12:00 amI was the only participant in this online course. Ariel and Aldo were incredibly welcoming and friendly. They gave excellent and varied yoga lessons that were well explained. In the cooking lessons, Ariel took the time to explain each property of the food and we made some delicious dishes. They mentioned they will be stopping the online course due to the low number of participants, which I think is such a shame because it was incredible value. It brought a little Balinese sunshine and exoticism into my lockdown days. This non-profit organization uses the money made to help the local community. Thank you both for this great experience!

February 3, 2020 at 12:00 amAriel, the owner, is not a people person and comes off as condescending. He made it clear to me that he finds yoga boring.
He quickly bragged about his multiple businesses and seems to believe he knows best. I was surprised to learn that he didn’t have a passion for starting a yoga retreat, he just did it.
Ariel should not be hosting yoga retreats. He lacks the kindness and compassion typical in the yoga community. Hosting retreats just for profit is not ethical. I was not satisfied and felt like my money was wasted.
The meals are lacking in nutritious options, with the majority being high in carbs and low in protein. Breakfast was repetitive and lacked protein, leaving me constantly hungry and fatigued.
Although the price was lower than other retreats, that doesn’t excuse the lackluster experience. I won’t be returning to Firefly and wouldn’t recommend it to others.
I was disappointed and offended by my experience. The only redeeming factor was the people I met.

November 18, 2019 at 12:00 amOn the first day, the owner clearly expressed his disapproval of veganism and vegetarianism, and voiced his disbelief in yoga. I found his behavior strange, considering I follow a vegan diet. It made me uncomfortable when he constantly praised the taste of chicken. November 13, 2019 at 12:00 amI loved staying in the older, cheaper accommodations. They were very basic, but totally worth the price I paid. There was plenty of hot water, and the ceiling fan made for a great night’s sleep. In Bali, you should expect bugs and geckos in your room, but just make friends with them. The slightly more expensive rooms looked like a big upgrade from what I saw.
Overall, I highly recommend this retreat! It was really well balanced with a vigorous morning yoga practice, daily activities, and a relaxing yin practice in the evening. The yoga teacher was fantastic, and the activities were enjoyable. The cooking classes were a nice touch too. Even with all we did in a week, there was still plenty of free time to explore or relax by the pool.
I don’t think you can find a better retreat for the price. I liked how everyone in the group started at the same time, giving us a chance to bond. The location was beautiful and just a 30-minute walk to Ubud center. Plus, the food was delicious.

October 16, 2019 at 12:00 amThe food was good. We could choose a dish for lunch and dinner. It was a shame that there wasn’t much Indonesian food. There was more Western and healthy food. The tea and coconut were good. Breakfast included pancakes, peanut butter, chocolate spread, apple and pineapple jam, fruit, muesli, and fruit yogurt.
Various teachers from Ubud led the yoga classes, but they didn’t stick to the plan of yoga styles. There were lots of sun salutations, planks, warriors, and downward dogs, which caused wrist pain for most of the group (10 people). There was no yoga on the day of the excursion. The excursion was good, and the extra activities like cooking were great. The resort manager has a chocolate factory in Ubud and showed us how to make chocolate.

October 3, 2019 at 12:00 amWell, as I mentioned before, we could definitely do more with the place. A deep cleaning is definitely needed. But, you know, these “luxury problems” seem to disappear day by day. Because what really makes up for it all is the great warmth at the resort. We really bonded as a group, did a lot of activities together. Firefly Resort isn’t your typical resort, it’s actually a non-profit organization that provides locals with employment opportunities. The money goes straight back into the community with no profit. The place consists of 4 villas, all of which could use a bit of renovation. But that doesn’t take away from its charm, in fact, living without the usual comforts and western standards really grounds you. The resort is located somewhere between the jungle and rice fields in the middle of nowhere. So it’s a wonderful place to unwind and relax. In the mornings, you can hear roosters and ducks, and in the evenings, frogs and geckos. We had two hours of yoga every day (except on excursion day) with Caspian, Baby, and another teacher whose name I unfortunately forgot. Caspian led us through a lot of Vinyasa yoga, but we also tried an hour of Acro/partner yoga, which was a lot of fun. He’s an experienced teacher who gives lots of tips and corrections. Thumbs up for that! The food was top-notch, always delicious and fresh.

September 30, 2019 at 12:00 amYou can’t expect a five-star high-class resort here. Of course, the pool could use a pressure cleaning, and some things could be more flawless. But if you’re young and on a budget, it’s perfectly fine and clean.
There could be more opportunities to lounge by the pool and more information about the program – who to turn to for questions, what to bring, etc.
I think they should add ice and iced coffee to the menu, and maybe offer more desserts or snacks for purchase!
The location is a bit far from Ubud, so please bring back the bicycle rental service! But it’s not really a complaint because it’s so wonderfully quiet out here. The yoga retreat is perfect for what you pay for it. The staff is the nicest ever, the food is great, and the program is top-notch. Since it’s always one group per week, you can come alone and leave with great friends! The yoga teachers are also very good.

September 15, 2019 at 12:00 amThe room wasn’t the cleanest, but hey, it’s Bali and it’s not what we’re used to in the West. Reading a helpful article before my trip really prepared me for the laid-back vibes of Bali. Our apartment/villa had peaceful views of village life. The staff was warm, kind, friendly, and incredibly humble. The pool even had Spring water, making you feel like you’re right in the middle of the rice and corn fields.

September 9, 2019 at 12:00 amThe owner Ariel ruined and cut short my experience by kicking me out. The reason was some freshly painted chairs at the dinner table in the restaurant without any notice. After dinner, I noticed paint on my shirt and asked him what we could do. Instead of helping, he started shouting that he didn’t like my attitude and wanted me to leave. This is the short version.
In the long version, apparently, asking if you could pay with PayPal is too much for him. The wooden rooms upstairs were sketchy, while the ones downstairs were nice and totally different.
Overall, I think this place could be a nice retreat, but the owner’s attitude ruins it and doesn’t give off good yoga vibes. I recommend staying in a homestay in Ubud and doing yoga at one of the many studios there. That’s what I did and had a great time while also saving money. The location was nice, and the staff and yoga teacher were friendly.

August 27, 2019 at 12:00 amThe owners no longer have a passion for this place, so the rooms are dirty and the facilities remain broken. The service level is poor, making it more of a budget-friendly retreat than a luxury one. However, if you’re okay with that, you’ll still have a great week. The teachers were great and I had an amazing group of yogis to enjoy the retreat with. The activities during the week were also really nice. Overall, if you’re in search of a budget-friendly yoga retreat, this is a solid option.

August 23, 2019 at 12:00 amThe regular yoga instructor was on vacation, so the week felt chaotic. You never knew which instructor you would have, making it difficult to focus on improving your technique. The program we were given didn’t really stick to the yoga classes as promised. It was sometimes a different type of yoga and the classes never lasted 1.5 hours as advertised. It was a bit disappointing. The accommodation is located in the rice fields, a peaceful spot away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud. The activities offered were enjoyable! The owner was always available for any concerns.

August 20, 2019 at 12:00 amLike others have mentioned, finding it can be a bit tricky. But you can easily locate it by checking Google Maps or Maps.me and simply following the small concrete paths. The facilities were great. The yoga shala was really comfortable for practice. We were lucky to have a little creek nearby adding to the jungle vibes. We ordered food from the menu for lunch and dinner each day and it was consistently delicious. With different yoga teachers for different styles and a small group, we got fantastic advice. August 5, 2019 at 12:00 amI absolutely loved this place! Not only was the yoga top-notch, but the activities organized were fantastic. The food was delicious, the staff was super friendly, and Ariel, who manages the place, was awesome. It’s a simple retreat with basic rooms and facilities, but that’s what made it charming. It’s located outside of Ubud, so it’s peaceful and relaxing. You might need to take a taxi to get there, but you won’t want to leave too often. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy and the relaxation is just too good to resist. Plus, the pool overlooks the beautiful rice fields! It’s a bit challenging to find, but just keep following the road straight to the end. Trust me, it’s worth the effort. This retreat was the best part of my Bali trip, with top-notch yoga classes led by incredible instructors. I highly, highly recommend it.

August 5, 2019 at 12:00 amIt’s strange that the bathroom door is made of clear glass when you have to share it with someone. We covered it up with a scarf though, and it worked fine. It’s a bit tricky to find too. You have to go down a steep hill until you can’t go any further, then take the little road up to the rice fields on the right.
I really enjoyed the varied program here. I stayed in a shared room with perfect air-conditioning. The staff there are amazing. Caspian’s acro yoga class at the end of the week was a definite highlight. I had a great group to spend the week with. I would highly recommend this place for the price.

July 5, 2019 at 12:00 amThe stairs to the top floor of the wooden villa felt really steep, making it a challenge to lug up all our luggage. But once everything was up there, it felt like we were in a rustic treehouse with a view overlooking the jungle. They said it had air conditioning, but all we found was a ceiling fan – not a big deal for me, but I could imagine it getting pretty toasty up there during the dry season! The resort’s location in the jungle and rice fields was amazing, like entering a whole new world. The view from the yoga shala into the jungle was truly special. Our group got along great and our instructor was full of passion, tailoring classes to our energy. June 3, 2019 at 12:00 amPoor communication, especially when changing schedules on the fly (as most are weather contingent), caused unnecessary drama for our group and ruined our fire ceremony experience.
Adding hooks to hang clothes in the rooms, especially in the shower/toilet area, would be helpful. I was not a fan of having a glass door on my toilet, especially since I booked a shared room. Fortunately, my roommate never showed up, but imagine having to share that with a stranger for 8 days! 😛
Also, it would be nice to clear the algae from the pool deck for cleanliness. And maybe changing the rags used to wipe down the yoga mats daily would help with the damp smell that clings, making breathing exercises in certain poses more challenging.
The yoga classes were great, with a nice balance of intensity and relaxation. I learned a lot about different kinds of yoga, making it great for beginners. The small class size allows the teacher to help with technique and support you in pushing for poses without pressure.
Ariel, the owner, is fantastic. He is charming and genuinely helpful, sincere, and funny (he’s a pro at pretending to be the Bali Wikipedia, so be prepared! Haha). The staff is accommodating (though forgetful at times, but that’s just part of the Bali experience).
Overall, this retreat offers fantastic value for money. With food and drinks included, along with activities like a full-body massage and tours, it provides a well-rounded Balinese experience with quality yoga. Highly recommend it!

April 26, 2019 at 12:00 amI didn’t really enjoy the “Balinese experience” because it felt like just a typical touristy tour with a bunch of other tourists. We visited a school, a village, and did some traditional cooking, but it all felt a bit awkward to me, especially when we were crammed into a classroom with Balinese kids singing for us while surrounded by 20 or 30 other Westerners. But hey, that’s just my personal preference.
The yoga instructor was absolutely amazing. We didn’t just do yoga, but we really connected with each other on a deeper level and delved into various aspects of yoga, at least as much as we could in the short time we had.

March 11, 2019 at 12:00 amThe menu is a bit limited but still manageable to try different dishes and find your favorites for the week. There’s nothing to complain about – great value for money and a truly special experience. I highly recommend it!
The program went exactly as planned and all the activities were well-thought-out and enjoyable. The same instructor taught all the yoga classes, which allowed for a good connection to be made. There was a nice variety of yoga sessions, yet still enough consistency for practice.
Each day, there was a menu to choose lunch and dinner from, which was a nice option to have. Breakfast was buffet-style with fruit, pancakes, granola, and a smoothie bowl. Don’t miss out on the delicious fresh coconuts – you can have one every day, along with unlimited herbal tea and coffee.
I decided to go for a private room, which turned out to be a two-story villa with a fridge, living area, bathroom with toilet and shower, and bedroom with air conditioning. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the property, though small, had a cozy and refreshing vibe. The property was much prettier than what was shown in the pictures – a pleasant surprise!

March 11, 2019 at 12:00 amThe yoga teacher wasn’t really into teaching and spending time with us. The classes were not good because he didn’t explain the postures and we didn’t use blocks and straps, which is a really basic thing. It’s not great for beginners because you don’t know if you’re doing the posture correctly and it’s not inspiring. On the other hand, the activities with Coco, the food, and the peaceful location made it a nice, relaxing time to be there.

March 11, 2019 at 12:00 amBreakfast always bored me with the same options. Ariel, the owner, refused to give me milk for my coffee even after I asked. Choosing only one item from the menu for lunch and dinner didn’t make sense, especially when some items were more expensive or smaller than others. It would have been better to have more than one teacher for the week-long retreat. The location in the rice fields was beautiful. Jamie, the Australian yoga teacher, was nice and talented, but having more than one teacher would have been better. The cultural program, including the bicycle ride and cooking lessons, was lovely as always.

February 25, 2019 at 12:00 amI thought the food was good, but it needed more herbs, spices, and veggies. Other than that, I didn’t have anything to complain about. They took great care of everything during my stay. The schedule for the week was fantastic, with yoga in the morning and evening with Jamie, a really knowledgeable teacher. I feel like I learned more in this week than I did in two years of practice at a yoga studio. We tried different types of yoga like flow, Hatha, and Vinyasa. We even talked about chakras, did mantra chanting, and focused on breathing. Besides yoga, we went on an amazing bike ride with Koko, learned cooking from Ariel, and explored coffee and tea with Koko. Every person was so friendly, and when I had trouble with the internet, Ariel was there to help. The room was super cozy, and the location was stunning! And let’s not forget about the awesome breakfast. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the whole team for showing us the real Bali, its traditions, and way of life. Thank you for welcoming us into your homes.

February 25, 2019 at 12:00 amI received a fresh towel in the middle of the week (although I probably could have asked for this) and noticed more green vegetables on the menu (although the overall standard of food was very good). The location was stunning – so peaceful and quiet. It was a nice walk into town and across the river. For me, it was the perfect balance of scheduled activities and time to explore the area on my own. Jaime, our outstanding yoga instructor, delivered a fantastic group programme and tailored it for each individual as much as possible. His personal interest and care for each person was inspiring. I loved my accommodation at The Firefly. I was super comfortable and relaxed there. All staff were welcoming and accommodating. Koko was a great guide who took the time to explain Balinese culture and share his passion for the beautiful natural environment.

February 17, 2019 at 12:00 amMy daughter wasn’t feeling well, so we skipped our planned lunch in Ubud and arrived early. Our driver called the resort to meet us and show us the way, but be ready to carry your luggage on a pathway not meant for wheelie bags! When we arrived, someone who didn’t speak to us carried one of our bags and checked us in looking frustrated. Later on, I found out it was the owner. We waited in the dining area. The rooms were okay, but my shower was only 4ft from the floor! The yoga classes were not for beginners, as the instructor was only staying for a month or so. My daughter didn’t join in, which was the whole reason she came with me. I was surprised at the poses she had us do; some were potentially dangerous. The pathways were slippery, be careful! I even slipped and hurt myself outside my room. The location was lovely, surrounded by rice fields not far from Ubud centre. All meals were provided, so no need to worry about the next meal. The set menu had tasty options. The Balinese staff were amazing, especially Agung who always asked about my daughter when she was too unwell to come down for meals. Koko was an entertaining tour guide. The cultural experience was excellent, the highlight of the week for me. Other activities were good too, but the bike ride was challenging – I had a nasty fall but still enjoyed it. The staff were great at checking on my healing process, which I appreciated.

February 11, 2019 at 12:00 amWhen we booked online about a week before our stay, we got a prompt and positive response, but then we didn’t hear anything else. We would have liked to receive the week’s schedule and more information about our stay before it began. The location was unique and a bit challenging to find, but in our opinion, that was part of the enjoyable experience; we felt completely secluded without any distractions. The staff was friendly, fun, and very attentive, and the yoga instructors were excellent. As a middle-aged couple, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were very satisfied with our stay.

February 4, 2019 at 12:00 amI couldn’t stay forever, but everything at the retreat was amazing! Ariel was very accommodating, Jamie was the best yoga teacher I’ve ever had – super chilled, down to earth, and a great motivator. Koko, Akun, and their team worked really hard to cook fantastic food and take us out on great days out. There were activities every day, you can walk to Ubud through the rice fields within 25 minutes, the yoga and meditation sessions were perfect, the food was insanely good, and the setting was perfect! It’s a little difficult to find, but so worth it – pure paradise! The rooms were clean, just remember you’re in the jungle, so expect some visitors. And the fireflies, living up to their name, were stunning!

January 31, 2019 at 12:00 amWhen we arrived, we noticed dead bugs inside the room, so it could have been cleaner. We also spotted a gecko, but considering we’re in the middle of rice fields, it’s not surprising. The resort could use better signage though. There’s only one sign on the main road, but it would be helpful to have another one at the top of the hill. Despite these minor issues, the budget retreat offers great value for money. The package includes daily activities, yoga, delicious vegetarian food, cozy accommodation, and extras like fresh coconuts and a relaxing massage. The pool added to the overall relaxing and enjoyable experience. The breakfast was especially tasty. The yoga instructors were fantastic, and Ariel and Koko, who run the retreat, were very kind. Overall, the retreat was well-organized, offering a good balance of activities and relaxation time.

January 29, 2019 at 12:00 amI have never come across such a filthy place in all my travels. Even a 1-star hotel in Cairo was cleaner. The cushions reeked of old sweat, there were blood stains on the duvet (with no cover), hair, faeces on the wall, dead bugs, and rubbish everywhere. Both rooms were disgusting.
We all slept terribly the first night and worried about getting sick from the food due to the lack of cleanliness. Every time someone walked past the open kitchen, the door was quickly closed. The communal toilet was located right next to the kitchen and dining area.
We tried to talk to the manager and owner Ariel to fix the issues but were told to come back tomorrow as he was on holiday. If it were my business and I lived 5 minutes away, I would definitely talk to unhappy guests. When we came back the next day, we spoke to Moshe who hid behind Ariel (who showed up long after we left). We couldn’t discuss a refund or anything with Moshe. We were willing to stay elsewhere and participate in activities, but negotiations were impossible. We only got the advice to read the cancellation policy. We didn’t cancel, we showed up. Yet, the resort failed to provide a healthy environment.
We hired a local interpreter and found out that Moshe is the owner but was avoiding us. Locals even knew that the buildings were not suitable for staying in! Bali and the location of the ‘resort’ are amazing and secluded, despite being a bit rugged (watch out for suitcase wheels). We were excited about the opportunity to spend around NZ$1200 for accommodation, food, yoga, and day trips for 4 adults for 7 days. It seemed like a great deal, but the reviews online were positive. We were prepared for something a little run-down at that price, which was okay. The local staff were friendly and helpful. We were looking forward to escaping the rat-race, the constant quest for material wealth, and the chance to simplify our lives and be more present.

January 28, 2019 at 12:00 amI have a suggestion for the hotel staff: Maybe consider installing a big sign with the resort name somewhere between the beginning of the walking path and the end of the street (where taxi drops off the guests) to make it easier to find the way.
First and foremost, I want to thank the entire resort team! The owner, who did an amazing job with this place, Koko, Agung, our lovely yoga instructor Laura, and the whole behind-the-scenes team. They all transformed a group of random girls into an amazing team with a magical atmosphere.
For those considering a yoga retreat, please keep in mind that you should leave your “5-star hotel” expectations at home! This retreat offers just the right amount of everything. Everything is so well organized – the yoga practice, the trips, and all other activities are combined in such a wonderful way that on your last day, you’ll never want it to end.
The food is absolutely delicious (and I’m not even a vegetarian)! Plus, the prices are decent and affordable, so you can add extras without worry. My favorite dish was the tempeh steak!
The staff is incredibly polite, attentive, friendly, and helpful. They all remember your name, which makes the place feel like one big family.
Yoga instructor Laura struck the perfect balance with a group of advanced and beginner yogis, creating magic moments and a beautiful experience overall. The owner is amusing and dedicated to ensuring everyone has the best experience. The personal touch is much appreciated – he even shared his personal 4G data with us when the WiFi was undergoing maintenance. Thank you!
I highly recommend Firefly Retreat!

January 19, 2019 at 12:00 amI found the meals lacking in protein since I’m not a vegetarian. The location was serene and beautiful, with an idyllic infinity pool. The itinerary for the week was absolutely incredible, and I can’t believe we were able to do everything included in the price. I loved the focus on local culture and traditions, as well as exploring the area. The yoga was challenging, but I really enjoyed it. The owner and staff here are absolutely amazing and clearly enjoy what they do. The breakfast was the best! The only thing you need to know about this ‘hidden gem’ is that it actually seems hidden. To get to the resort, take the tiny sidewalk to the right of the big house at the bottom of the hill (where there is no signage). Don’t worry – go up the hill and you will see the buildings across the rice fields when you get to the top!

November 26, 2018 at 12:00 amThe place is dirty because they never clean it. There are dead bugs and dust everywhere. They don’t even have a cover on the duvet. I asked them to clean my room, but they didn’t. It’s a low budget yoga retreat, so I didn’t expect luxury, but I was hoping for cleanliness. I’ve been traveling around the world for the past 10 years, and this is one of the top three dirtiest places I’ve ever been to. This place would be so much better if they would just clean it. So, if you want a clean room, this is not the place for you. Despite the lack of cleanliness, the location in the middle of the rice fields is great for relaxation. The food is good, the yoga instructor is excellent, and the other activities are enjoyable. It’s just a shame they don’t clean up. October 29, 2018 at 12:00 amI honestly loved the retreat – it was amazing and I really can’t complain about anything for the money I paid. The food quantity was a bit low for me personally, but that’s probably because my metabolism is always running. Luckily, there were plenty of cheap places in Ubud center to grab some extra food, and ordering more food at the resort was cheap and tasty. The retreat is surrounded by beautiful rice paddies, giving all the villas stunning views.
The yoga atmosphere was relaxed and engaging, allowing people of all skill levels to work at their own pace. Having both morning and evening yoga classes gave us the chance to try out different types of yoga, and Márcia is an amazing instructor. The staff are kind and amazing, more like friends than just providing great service. The day excursions were genuine and interesting, not typical touristy outings. And if you wanted to skip an excursion or class and do your own thing, there was no judgment at all.
Overall, the place has a family vibe and the owners clearly care more about making people happy than making a ton of money, which makes it such a pleasant and relaxing environment.
On a personal note, I want to thank Koko, Ariel, and Márcia for the wonderful conversations and laughter. Wishing them and everyone else at the retreat all the best in the future!

My trip was fabulous thanks to everyone at Dragonfly, my awesome group of fellow Yogi’s, and our teacher Marcia.

October 22, 2018 at 12:00 amI didn’t want to go home. I suggest they remove the stones from the shower – one night I stepped on one and had a bad fall. I really enjoyed the program – it kept us involved but also allowed us time to relax. The activities were interesting and authentic. We got a real taste for Balinese culture. The yoga practices and meditation were fulfilling and informative. The retreat’s location was quiet and relaxing, yet close enough to the city for a day trip. The staff, particularly Koko, were helpful, kind, and warm. We had a wonderful group of like-minded travelers and genuinely enjoyed our experiences together. It was the kind of vacation that grew to feel like home.

October 17, 2018 at 12:00 amI feel really comfortable and relaxed at the retreat because of its serene and calming aura. The yoga and vipasana sessions are awesome. The staff is so friendly. Everything is just really good. It would be even better if they had hammocks.

October 8, 2018 at 12:00 amThe rooms need to be cleaner. We could use some more one-on-one guidance to make sure we’re doing the yoga positions correctly. The staff was wonderful. All the excursions were top-notch. The food was delicious, and the location was fantastic! It was awesome to learn more about yoga, like the chakras, ecstatic dance, and mantras.

October 2, 2018 at 12:00 amI love the resort location! If you’re looking for some peace and relaxation, this is the perfect place. It’s a small and intimate spot in the middle of rice fields where you can actually see fireflies at night. The staff is kind and always willing to help and accommodate all your needs. You can join lots of interesting activities to discover the area and culture, and Ubud isn’t far – the staff can organize cars to take you to town or explore the surroundings. The food is freshly made and healthy. The yoga classes were relaxing and meditative. Personally, I prefer more challenging ones, but they were perfect for beginners and those who love slow and restorative practices. The schedule and facilities were perfect for our group of 7 people. We had the time and space to bond with each other and just relax on our own. I highly recommend it!

October 1, 2018 at 12:00 amI loved everything about it. You can really feel the beautiful energy surrounding this place – it’s so quiet and peaceful. The accommodation is amazing, right in the middle of nature. The food is delicious, the classes and activities are top-notch, and the staff is so kind and friendly. I wish I could have stayed longer, it was such a beautiful experience. I would recommend it 100%. Thank you Ariel for this wonderful project.

September 24, 2018 at 12:00 amThe place could have been a bit cleaner, especially the bathroom and shower. But overall, we had a really nice stay! It was just 5 of us in our small group, and one of us even had a private yoga session some days.
The food, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, was included and made fresh every day, even the jam! Along with the food and beverages, we also had yoga classes. And every other day, there was a different fun experience on the schedule, like making handcrafted offerings, watching fireflies, getting a massage, and the best part: visiting a Balinese home for a cultural experience. It was truly amazing to get a glimpse into the locals’ lives.

September 21, 2018 at 12:00 amThe program didn’t do anything for me. This survey says I’m from Vietnam, but really I’m from the USA. The program really impressed me with its experiential activities that taught me so much about Bali culture and tradition. The staff provided excellent warm and caring service. The location and facilities really promoted tranquility and comfort, with a fabulous positive energy. The yoga instructor was deeply connected and provided yoga and meditation to help me get in touch with the needs of my body and spirit. The meals were delicious and organic. I got to enjoy a coconut a day. There was also free time to enjoy Ubud. Starting my Bali vacation with this program really enhanced the rest of my trip by giving me a deeper appreciation and understanding of Balinese culture.

September 18, 2018 at 12:00 amMarcia provided varied yoga instruction that catered to a variety of levels, bringing a sense of calmness to our practices. Ariel, Agung, Wayan, and Coco offered top-notch service and are all lovely individuals. As soon as you arrive, nestled between rice paddies and jungle, you can’t help but relax in the serenity of the surroundings. The food, location, and activities offered at Firefly make this little haven an excellent value for money!

September 3, 2018 at 12:00 amWhen I first arrived, I dragged my wheelie bag up the hill. Later, I discovered that some other guests had arrived on scooters and had no trouble reaching the entrance of the property. The serene atmosphere, created by both the location (in paddy fields about half an hour walk to Ubud market) and the hosts, was lovely. Ariel and Koko went out of their way to make the stay appealing to a wide range of guests in their quiet manner.
I enjoyed the Balinese Experience, which showcased many aspects of Balinese life, including visiting children in their classroom. The cooking class was a highlight, as well as the Cycling Tour, where we climbed slowly, stopping to see many things, and then had an all downhill return trip. Marcia offered a wide variety of yoga classes, along with meditation, chanting, and Chakra Dance, which I really enjoyed. I couldn’t believe that all of these activities were included in the very modest cost – amazing value!

September 3, 2018 at 12:00 amI thought yoga was too repetitive and wished we could learn something new every day instead of repeating the same classes over and over. The views were amazing, with rice paddies stretching as far as the eye could see, and the rooms were really cozy with a beautiful pool. I also liked that the yoga studio was right next to a lush rainforest. All the staff were friendly and willing to assist.

August 27, 2018 at 12:00 amIt was challenging to find the location, but I had a wonderful time at this yoga retreat. The staff works so hard and I can’t say anything bad about them. August 26, 2018 at 12:00 amI don’t like the yoga classes too much because they only offer Hatha and not all the types listed on the schedule. Plus, they only clean my room once a week (I usually do it myself). But I really love this place in the middle of the rice fields, not too far from town. The staff is really kind, the food is amazing, and the activities on the schedule are perfect for experiencing the real Bali!

August 24, 2018 at 12:00 amIt would be nice to have a mid week room clean, a savory breakfast choice with protein, and a tea or coffee making facility somewhere in the retreat would be appreciated. Coco, the host/manager, was amazing. The retreat offered fantastic activities every day and provided great value for money. The yoga sessions were well-tailored to the group’s level and excellent value for money. The food was great and getting a fresh coconut daily was a bonus.

August 23, 2018 at 12:00 amThe yoga at the retreat was a letdown. The classes had no structure, just the same few poses on repeat. The vinyasa class didn’t line up with the breath, with moves lasting way too long without clear instructions. The instructor couldn’t even do basic poses herself and didn’t offer any adjustments for beginners or advanced students. The classes were short and infrequent, leaving us feeling cheated. Worst of all, there was no consideration for injuries, making it unsafe.
When I raised my concerns with the manager, they were dismissive. We ended up having to pay extra to attend classes at other studios because the ones at the retreat were so bad. On the positive side, the location was beautiful and peaceful, close to town. The building, pool, and rooms were just like the pictures, clean and comfortable for the price.
The food was repetitive but fresh and mostly vegan/vegetarian. Breakfast was good, but the same every day. The coconuts and tea were a nice touch. The Bali excursions were hit or miss, but overall decent for the price. The best part was meeting other guests and forming great friendships.

August 21, 2018 at 12:00 amThe yoga classes were disappointing because there was no flow, just a series of separate postures like cat/cow and downward dog. The teacher seemed unprepared and didn’t give much instruction or assistance. Even when poses were being done incorrectly or dangerously, she didn’t help out. Management didn’t communicate well and didn’t handle feedback well. Despite all this, the location was peaceful with beautiful surroundings and delicious healthy food. The Balinese excursion was a nice break from the disappointing yoga experience.

August 20, 2018 at 12:00 am“The yoga here is very basic, so if you’re looking for advanced training, don’t come here. It’s more suited for beginners,” I would recommend.
Helpful ReviewThe staff doesn’t communicate well with guests, so you’ll have to ask about everything. On the plus side, the location is lovely and the atmosphere is calm and relaxed. The food is healthy and delicious. The Balinese experience and bike rides were really enjoyable. I stayed in a cozy wooden room, but there were a lot of bugs.

August 18, 2018 at 12:00 amI found yoga practice at the retreat too slow and gentle for my liking. It seems more suited for beginners. Don’t expect the same rhythm you’re used to from your yoga studio or gym back home. Having two teachers to mix things up would be a nice bonus.
Despite that, it was still nice to work out in the mornings and evenings surrounded by the resort’s green palm trees and lush vegetation. The retreat is nestled among rice fields, creating a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. It’s a short walk or bike ride to Ubud centre if you want to explore.
We only had one full day to explore Ubud itself, which was plenty for me. I quickly escaped the hustle and bustle of the city to return to our peaceful resort. I stayed in a rustic but functional wooden cabin upstairs, complete with a mosquito net that kept the bugs away at night.
Our days were packed with cultural activities, cooking classes, and exploration. Ariel and the team organized everything so we could experience the best of Bali without the crowds, and at a fraction of the cost of other trips or retreats. I highly recommend booking with them if it’s your first time in Bali.
The food was simple yet delicious, the yoga lessons and meditation practices varied and engaging each day. The staff was amazing!

August 7, 2018 at 12:00 amObviously, this is a budget retreat, but once you’re there, you totally forget about the cost because it’s such great value! We all showed up wondering what the “catch” was, but we’re still looking for it! It really is worth every penny for everything you get! The accommodation is basic, but it’s clean, well-organized, and has everything you need. The staff is friendly and approachable, ready to help with anything you need. The menu is all vegetarian (and most dishes can easily be made vegan without any hassle). The staff have a deep understanding of the local area and are happy to answer any questions about traditions and culture, especially during the tours and experiences included with the yoga sessions. The yoga itself is fantastic, and Marcia is open to hearing feedback from the group about preferences for yoga styles and meditation.

July 24, 2018 at 12:00 amI didn’t like anything except leaving! Firefly is a hidden oasis just outside Ubud, nestled among lush green rice fields. Let me tell you, the photos don’t do this place justice – it’s simply MAGNIFICENT. Every time I walked through the entrance, I felt like I was stepping into a stunning painting.
Koko, the main host, is one of the most wonderful humans I’ve ever met! I was greeted warmly and given a detailed rundown of Firefly and what to expect during my stay. My room was clean, bright, and cozy, with a ridiculously comfortable bed. The food? Oh, it’s not only delicious but made with so much love. Our yoga teacher, Marcia, was equally divine, and we enjoyed practicing yoga twice a day in a beautiful, intimate shala surrounded by greenery.
We cooked, went bike riding, tried out ecstatic dance – and I formed beautiful bonds with my fellow retreat participants. Koko has truly created a magical utopia, a slice of heaven on Earth where you can unwind and focus on nourishing your inner self. This experience has been life-changing for me; I found my purpose, learned to listen to my body, and follow my heart in this beautiful setting.
If you’re considering a retreat, search no more. Treat yourself to this unforgettable experience and see it for yourself. A huge thank you to Koko, Marcia, and the entire Firefly team for hosting me and creating this week of magic. I’m forever grateful and will always hold these memories dear.

July 16, 2018 at 12:00 amThe rooms do not have a hair dryer and bugs are sometimes present, but bugs are everywhere in Bali so you kind of have to learn to live with these little creatures. The friendly and helpful staff, the chance to see fireflies at night, the nice pool, the great food available, the Balinese cultural and natural experience, and the opportunity to meet beautiful people and make new friends are all things to look forward to.

July 9, 2018 at 12:00 amI had a hard time finding the resort because there weren’t enough signs yet, but they assured me it’s on its way. The food didn’t have as much spice and flavor as other Balinese dishes I’ve tried, but it was still decent. The resort has stunning surroundings, with rice fields and fireflies in the evening. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and the included excursions like the Balinese experience, cycling tour in Ubud, and cooking class were wonderful. I was pleasantly surprised by how much was included and the high quality of the activities. I felt like I got a lot of value for my money. The retreat was a great introduction to Balinese culture and a perfect first yoga retreat experience. It’s quite intimate, with room for only around 11 people. The yoga classes were suitable for both beginners and intermediate practitioners, with options for more advanced poses. The yoga teacher was fantastic, kind, and friendly. We tried different yoga styles like vinyasa, hatha, yin yoga, meditation, chanting, and ecstatic dance. I would definitely do it again and highly recommend it.

July 6, 2018 at 12:00 amBreakfast was always the same every day, but I think it would be better to have some variety. Nevertheless, the food was good. The yoga retreat was the best, and they organized daily activities well. It was less hassle because the food was served on time as scheduled, so you didn’t have to worry about that. The staff was great, very friendly and accommodating. Coco was a good host and took us on a bicycle ride and firefly watching. I totally enjoyed my stay and it was great value for money. Most items on the menu tasted really good! My favorites were the vegetarian burger, pumpkin salad, and betutu. Thank you Firefly!

June 27, 2018 at 12:00 amThere wasn’t much to complain about at Firefly. Everything was truly fantastic. This place has a magical vibe. Without being at Firefly, I don’t think I could have experienced as much. The staff at Firefly really bring this place to life, always going above and beyond. I’d say it’s the best place to stay in Ubud. We immersed ourselves in Balinese culture, did daily yoga, ate amazing food, and made plenty of friends. The location isn’t in Ubud, but that’s what makes it even better – it’s right in the middle of the rice fields.

They’re so friendly and always willing to help with a smile. The yoga instruction was authentic and suitable for all levels, which can be hard to come by. As a yoga teacher, I really appreciated that. The vegan-friendly food was absolutely delicious, and I couldn’t wait for each meal. June 25, 2018 at 12:00 amI loved the location of the retreat – it’s in a quiet spot in the middle of rice fields yet still close enough to Ubud (40 minutes walk). We had a small group, so the yoga classes were personal and individually planned by a great yoga instructor. I loved the classes and they felt like much more than just a class – they were transformative. Our small group was very special, and we formed lifelong friendships. The meals were on the smaller side but delicious, made from organic local ingredients. Some of the activities felt a little slow-paced, but that’s all part of the Bali experience, so I still enjoyed them. Overall, I loved every minute of my stay at this retreat.
