Food is important for our bodies and gives us energy to live. The quality and types of food affect how we feel physically and mentally. From a yogic point of view, food is more than just nutrition for our bodies. When practicing yoga, it’s important to make sure we are getting the right nutrients to supplement our bodies. We should also consider the energetic aspect of food when choosing our diet. Have you ever noticed how the food you eat affects your yoga practice? Ayurveda, which is related to yoga, teaches us about how different foods impact our overall well-being, including our physical, spiritual, and mental health. Ayurveda believes that “Sattva” represents purity and self-control, which leads to intelligence, virtue, awareness, and happiness. Sattvic foods promote purity of mind and body, nurture the mind, and make it clear, compassionate, and calm. A sattvic diet also helps sharpen our intellect. According to the Bhagavad-Gita, a sattvic diet is light and easy to digest, and it fosters positive thoughts and satisfaction. Following this diet can help us feel alert, refreshed, and peaceful. During our course, we follow Ayurvedic teachings and provide students with delicious vegan meals three times a day. Our kitchen team prepares the food with love and hygiene. The meals are buffet style and include a variety of vegetarian dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The price at Bali Yoga School includes 4 complementary full-body massages in our in-house spa. You can also find a variety of treatments available for an additional cost.

December 12, 2023 at 12:00 amI didn’t really have any dislikes, but the other people at the retreat were definitely surprised to see me. I was the only one there for a yoga retreat, while everyone else was doing yoga teacher training. But despite that, I had a great time because I approached it with a positive attitude and a thirst for knowledge. The staff at Bali Yoga School impressed me with their politeness and helpfulness. They made me feel incredibly welcome. And even though I’m not a vegan, I absolutely loved the food they served at every meal. The fruits were incredibly sweet and the other dishes were full of flavor, with fun and catchy names.

November 18, 2023 at 12:00 amI didn’t go on a retreat. I spent five days alone and then joined a group of ten people who were doing the 200-hour program in just one month. They had been doing yoga every day for two weeks already and wanted to become teachers, so their skill level was different from mine. It wasn’t a relaxing experience at all because the main goal of the 200-hour program was to learn quickly and get the certification, rather than enjoying the practice of yoga like I had expected. Maybe you should inform people who are interested in the retreat about the type of group they’ll be joining. I have to say, though, the place itself was really fantastic, the staff were amazing, and the rooms were really nice.

May 15, 2023 at 12:00 amThe accommodation wasn’t great… and it was expensive for what it offered. It was loud and cramped, with not much space to relax and have privacy. The food was decent, but it was always the same. The teachers were amazing, and the people there were friendly, accommodating, kind, and helpful. But despite the drawbacks, everything went well in the end.

February 14, 2023 at 12:00 amThe instructors were really nice and had a positive approach. I learned a lot in just two weeks. The classes flowed smoothly and we had longer breaks to rest and relax between lunch and the next class. I highly recommend this place and the people working there. Everyone was friendly and helpful. It was such a peaceful and relaxing place. I’ll definitely come back for classes whenever I’m in Bali. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

May 16, 2022 at 12:00 amEverything about the 300hr Yoga Teacher training with Himalayan Yoga Ashram was incredible. I absolutely recommend it without hesitation. The course provided a wealth of comprehensive and detailed information that completely impressed me. We learned so much – from physical yoga practices to anatomy classes, and had meaningful discussions with different teachers about philosophy, meditation, breathing techniques, Mudra practice, and Ayurveda.
I genuinely feel like my knowledge on all these subjects deepened during the course. It was refreshing to learn from a traditional perspective, rather than the usual mainstream yoga teachings. The anatomy classes were particularly impressive because they gave us a solid foundation on how the body works. It was explained in a way that was easy to understand and relate to, rather than just memorizing facts without real comprehension.
The feedback on assignments was also incredibly helpful and motivating. The teachers provided constructive criticism while still being encouraging. It really made me reflect on my progress and development as a student.
Once I finished the course, my love and appreciation for yoga grew even stronger. Not only that, but it also gave me the confidence and preparation to teach in a classroom setting. I feel inspired to keep learning, practicing, and continuing my journey on the path of yoga.

May 2, 2022 at 12:00 amN.A. Himalayan Yoga Association offers a comprehensive teaching manual that covers everything you need. You can watch the pre-recorded training videos whenever and wherever you want, at your own speed. The daily zoom live classes are great for understanding different yoga topics, and we can ask the teachers any questions we have. I really hope to visit Rishikesh one day. Thanks a lot for this amazing course. Big shout out to Saumya-ji!

December 23, 2021 at 12:00 amThank you so much for this amazing experience! I participated in the 300-hour Online Yoga Teacher Training in November. It was such a rewarding experience for me. The live classes on Yoga Theory were incredibly clear and well-structured. The information provided was right on point, and I genuinely enjoyed immersing myself in yoga throughout this month.
I was pleasantly surprised to connect with other students in the course. It felt like we had formed a small community, which I hadn’t anticipated in an online training. It was really nice to have that sense of camaraderie.
The practical live classes were also a highlight for me. I’m thrilled to have delved into Ashstanga Yoga and found so much joy in it. The small group setting of this online training made it feel more personal and less anonymous. I was able to ask all my questions during the live classes without hesitation.
Once again, thank you all at Bali Yoga School and HYA. I’m incredibly grateful for this experience. Namaste!

November 29, 2021 at 12:00 amHonestly, I liked everything. The food was nice, and as a vegetarian, I didn’t feel like I needed anything more (just espresso ?). I really loved the place. It was so peaceful. My experience with the teachers was amazing. I learned a lot from Shanti ji, Ida ji, and Niki ji. I’m so grateful to have met these beautiful souls in my life. Dewa ji made me feel at home. I am 100% happy with my experience, and all my memories with Bali Yoga School will always remain in my heart. I really wish I could have stayed longer. March 31, 2020 at 12:00 amBecause of the tropical weather, mosquitoes can be quite annoying at times, so don’t forget to bring mosquito spray with you. This school is absolutely beautiful and has a great location. The staff are all so helpful and friendly, and the teachers are really professional. The Balinese vegetarian meals they serve here are delicious, with a different variety offered every day. I had a great time studying here and I will definitely be recommending it to my friends.

March 30, 2020 at 12:00 amI felt a lack of protein in the meals since I’m not a vegetarian. It wasn’t enough for the physical effort required, and as a result, I personally lost a lot of weight, which isn’t a positive thing in my case.

The place is beautiful, the schedule is perfect, and the food is very tasty.
The teachers are just amazing. They made me feel comfortable right away, and despite their young age, they excel in their work, whether it’s in theory or practice. Neelam Ji is funny and passionate. Durgesh Ji is calm and soothing. Rahul Ji is very professional and patient, and lastly, my favorite teacher Ankit Ji is fun and challenging, truly refreshing in class. Thank you all four for your kindness, patience, and the passion you put into your work. I won’t hesitate to have the same experience with these teachers again. ❤️?

Ankit ji and Rahul ji are both professional and knowledgeable instructors who exceeded my expectations. I especially want to thank Durgesh ji and Dewa ji for taking good care of all the students. The accommodation was lovely and all the staff were welcoming, including the friendly local family who lived next to us. I felt like a local while traveling. It was my first time changing to a vegetarian diet, but the food was so delicious with various options that it actually helped me reduce fat and build muscle. February 25, 2020 at 12:00 amI read reviews before attending the program in January, and it was clear that there were significant changes made to the program, including the food and syllabus. Unfortunately, the changes didn’t live up to my expectations. The food was primarily high in carbs and didn’t seem very nutritious. Despite being assured that they could accommodate my celiac disease, there was a lack of understanding regarding what “gluten-free” meant, resulting in me getting sick frequently. I also noticed a disconnect between the goals of the students and the teachers. For those pursuing a 300-hour certification, I do not recommend this training. On a positive note, I appreciated the opportunity to spend a lot of time doing yoga.

February 25, 2020 at 12:00 amThe school lacked organization and professionalism, and the level of teaching was very poor. The classes didn’t even add up to the required number of hours. Teachers were always late, which made students lose motivation and show up late as well, resulting in even shorter classes. One class got canceled just because it was raining, even though it was the rainy season. This reduced the number of hours even further.
The yoga classes were just average and didn’t focus on teaching us how to actually teach yoga. We only had two sequencing lessons. Shockingly, we weren’t assessed on our teaching or even given the chance to teach yoga.
A significant number of students missed multiple classes, around 40% I estimate, and still managed to pass and become “qualified yoga teachers.”
There were five occasions where the teachers for Astanga, meditation, alignment, and pranayama classes changed without any warning or explanation, even to the teachers themselves.
I had to console another student twice because the tutors had confronted her for complaining to the management.
The food was terrible – very basic, tasteless, and not enough to satisfy hunger.
I don’t usually write reviews, but I honestly believe that this school not only provides a terrible experience for students who invest a lot of money, but it also poses a potential danger by certifying individuals who are not prepared to teach yoga.
It’s hard to find anything positive to mention about this school because almost every aspect of it was a disappointment. However, I did like the pool at the accommodation, and the manager there was very helpful. It seemed like she was embarrassed about the low quality of food recommended by the yoga school. Most of the other students had nice accommodations, but my friend and I were placed separately and our rooms had a lot of mold. When I checked out, I discovered some of my clothes were affected by mold, but the manager promptly arranged for them to be cleaned.

February 25, 2020 at 12:00 amThe school lacked organization and professionalism, which affected the teaching quality for a 200-hour qualification. Throughout the course, tutors changed five times and they were inexperienced in teaching teachers. Additionally, tutors would often arrive late, causing students to also arrive late. The management of the school was unprofessional, as they did not administer any exam on how to teach yoga. Instead, yoga classes were solely focused on practicing, without teaching the skills needed to become a teacher. The food provided was of extremely poor quality. Surprisingly, some students were able to miss numerous classes yet still receive a certificate at the end of the course. The excursions advertised on the website were not accurate, and despite being included in the package, students were expected to pay for them separately. It is clear that this school is primarily focused on making money rather than providing education or ensuring a high standard of teaching. The owner of the school was unhelpful and difficult to approach, often prioritizing one particular student over others. This raises concerns about his qualifications as a yoga teacher and his ability to professionally manage a yoga school. However, it is worth noting that Ubud is a wonderful place to visit. Durgesh, Dewa, Ankit, and Rahul were the only positive aspects of the school, as they did their best to address the numerous problems it had.

February 23, 2020 at 12:00 amThe Anatomy and Philosophy classes in our school are not well-organized. I find it easier to just Google the information and watch YouTube videos, as they are much clearer than what the teacher says. For example, the notes on the 5 Kleshas could easily be found on a website, but our teacher barely mentioned anything about the 7 chakras.
One of our meditation teachers suddenly disappeared and only left a message through WhatsApp. We had to rely on another teacher without any official notice. There is no contingency plan or backup in case a teacher gets sick. They just expect us to self-study. What would happen if a teacher were to be sick for a few days?
During the course, we had to switch pranayama teachers twice. There was no communication between these teachers, so they didn’t know what had already been taught.
I came to Bali to learn how to be a teacher, but we didn’t have enough time to practice teaching. We didn’t come here just to practice yoga, as we can do that in our home country. The school should provide instruction on how to teach yoga so that we can practice it ourselves, not just practice yoga.
The school grouped students from the 100 hours, 200 hours, 300 hours, and 500 hours programs together, and we all learned almost the same things. They should have separate classes for different levels of yoga experience.
The organization is lacking, and what I’ve learned so far is not sufficient to become a teacher. The lead trainer is not able to effectively lead the course.
The food options were repetitive and lacked variety.
Ankit and Rahul, despite being young, are very passionate about teaching. Especially Rahul, he is willing to spend extra time teaching students advanced poses.
The course coordinator, Deva, has been trying his best to fix the problems and take action.

February 17, 2020 at 12:00 amI found the training to be quite disappointing. I was really hoping to learn more practical knowledge on teaching, but I ended up feeling like I didn’t learn much at all. Some of the teachers seemed inexperienced and didn’t have the training on how to actually teach others, even though they had a great personal practice. There wasn’t much structure or coordination between the teachers in terms of content or theme throughout the training. It felt like we didn’t get what the syllabus promised.
It was also challenging because many participants were inexperienced, so we spent a lot of time on basic things. The whole training felt more like a retreat than a yoga teacher training. One thing that bothered me was that they mixed the 100hr, 200hr, and 300hr classes together. The 300 hour program was almost the same as the 200 hour, and the participants did most of the classes together. If I had signed up for the 300hr program, I would have been really disappointed and asked for a refund.
On top of that, the management and scheduling were a mess. Overall, the program lacked depth and structure. While I think each of the instructors are good people with good hearts, I don’t feel like I got my money’s worth. The “included excursions” turned out to be just transport, and we had to pay for everything once we got there. There was very little communication about this. However, the accommodation was nice and the food was good and nutritious. The instructors were all young but kind-hearted individuals.

January 30, 2020 at 12:00 amThe Philosophy classes and Anatomy classes didn’t have as much discussion as I expected, and the emphasis seemed to be more on self-development than teaching others. It was a physically intense experience.
Right from the start, there was a miscommunication. I had booked private accommodation and confirmed it through email, but when I arrived, I was told I had to share for a night. I ended up finding another place to stay for that night and didn’t appreciate the inconvenience.
The program wasn’t well managed. Classes often started late because the teacher would show up late. Some classes were also canceled without any backup plans due to teacher illness or bad weather. When I gave feedback, some teachers took it seriously and made improvements, but others made me feel like I was being a troublemaker. That didn’t sit well with me.
The food was good for the first week, but then it became repetitive. We had Thursdays and Sundays off, but there were a lot of mosquitoes.
Our Vinyasa teacher, Rahul Ji, was amazing. He was full of energy and passionate about sharing his knowledge in yoga. I really enjoyed his classes. Ankit Ji’s alignment classes were clear and detailed, and he made sure we understood everything. I also liked how he incorporated some theory into his practical classes. Aylan Ji taught us Pranayama, and her classes were delivered very well. Her journey in yoga was inspiring. Durgesh Ji’s meditation classes were exceptional. They were structured, explained well, and enjoyable.
We had different teachers for Meditation, Alignment, Pranayama, and Ashtanga, which was great for experiencing different teaching styles.
We stayed at Puri Suksma, a place surrounded by nature. It was a blissful environment to practice and study in. We even had visits from monkeys, squirrels, ants, and butterflies. It felt like living in a National Geographic documentary.
I met amazing people from all over the world and learned so much from them. After completing the program, I made new friends, became more aware of my body, discovered new aspects of myself, and became a better yoga practitioner. I’m really grateful for this experience.
Helpful ReviewRachael Rawsthorne
January 30, 2020 at 12:00 amThe food was always the same every day. Some of the classes seemed pointless because we had no idea who had already taught or what level everyone was at. So, they made us start from scratch every time, even if we already had 200 hours of teaching experience.
We did a lot of practicing, but they never taught us how to structure a class or put together a flow. And when we asked the teacher for guidance, it felt like they were shocked that we were even on a “teacher training” course. Although I learned a lot about philosophy and other subjects, I spent the entire 4 weeks there without getting a chance to teach a yoga class. Now, I have to do more research on how to structure a class because they didn’t teach us that. The teachers were really nice, but the classes lacked any kind of structure.

January 16, 2020 at 12:00 amI wish the school would provide coffee for afternoon/before lunch class. It would help with the tiredness from morning exercises and improve concentration. I love how this experience brings me back to simplicity. Simple thoughts, expectations, resources, and especially food and relaxing places.
I really appreciate all the hard work and preparation the teachers have put in. I had a great learning experience in Yoga Asanas with Rahul Ji & Ankit Ji, Types of Breathing with Aylan Ji, and Meditation with Durgesh Ji. It feels like I’ve been there for a long time and I don’t want to leave.

October 1, 2019 at 12:00 amFinding Bali yoga school was quite difficult – they have two locations. One is for teacher training, and the other is Dewa’s place, where you can go for short retreats. So, make sure you ask for directions. During my stay, I opted for the retreat and spent a delightful 7 days there. Dewa and his wife ran the place and they were outstanding hosts. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of. The guest house was absolutely charming, and they had a fabulous pool. May 16, 2019 at 12:00 amSo, first of all, they emailed me the address of a new location in Bali at the last moment. When I arrived late at night, it was hard to find the new place, and I had trouble finding a phone number for the course leaders online. To my terrible surprise, the place I ended up at didn’t look anything like the pictures in the retreat ad. The pictures were so misleading and it stressed me out, as well as the whole group. I was shocked because I had traveled a long way and already paid my deposit online. I even thought about just leaving. The accommodations were awful and the yoga shala was no better. It really affected my first impression of the YYT and their staff, and it took a while for the bad feelings and vibes to go away. But we talked about it as a group with the course leader, and they fixed things by changing our accommodations and having some of the morning practices at a much nicer yoga shala. The food started off great but then got worse in terms of presentation and variety. And everything was just so dirty. It’s such a shame that we had to go through such disorganization and unprofessional management at the beginning of our journey to become Yoga Certified Trainers.
But let me tell you, Bali is truly a special place. The people are so warm and always have a smile on their faces. As for the YTT, I have to say the instructors made it all worthwhile. They are incredibly knowledgeable and have such great energy, which helped me get through the tough but rewarding schedule. I want to give a special shoutout to Guru Pradeep Ji, who explains postures and alignment in such a clear and detailed way. His expertise, along with the other teachers’ information and energy, made the course worth every penny. And let me tell you, the vegetarian meals were absolutely delicious. But the best part was the group experience. It’s amazing how quickly you can bond with people you just met. The moments and experiences we shared during this short but intense course are something I’ll cherish forever. Just priceless.

May 11, 2019 at 12:00 amWe just completed a 200-hour TT with Bali Yoga school, which is associated with Himalayan Yoga Association in Rishkesh, India. We were specifically looking for a yoga school that could provide us with authentic knowledge of yoga. The teaching staff at this school did an incredible job of fulfilling our expectations throughout the course.
Every day, we would start our mornings with Shatkarama (cleansing process), followed by Ashtanga yoga led by Pradeep ji. He is an amazing teacher with extensive knowledge of yoga anatomy and alignment. His expertise in yoga science was clearly evident through the instructions we received during our time at the school. Over the course of four weeks, we learned three new asanas each day and gradually progressed through the Primary series of Ashtanga Yoga.
One of the highlights of our day was the meditation and philosophy sessions with Johsan ji. He is a humble and knowledgeable teacher who taught complex topics in a light-hearted manner, making it easy for all of us to understand.
Another great aspect of our training was Vinyasa flow with Cinthia. She provided us with valuable information on sequencing, teaching cues, and most importantly, encouraged everyone to teach. This made the practical assessment component of the training much more enjoyable.
Our accommodations had amenities such as hot water, air conditioning, a communal pool, and a study area for us to use at night. The food, catered by the yoga school, was overall great, especially the breakfast. All the meals provided were vegetarian and gluten-free.
In conclusion, we highly recommend this school. Minal and Hesh.

May 1, 2019 at 12:00 amThe teachers at this yoga school are the most positive aspect. They are lovely individuals filled with energy, passion, and dedication. They know how to motivate students, possess extensive knowledge, and enjoy sharing and spending time with new yogis. They are always smiling and ready to offer help. They truly inspire me and give me the strength to continue on this path and remain focused. Each one of them has given me a piece of their soul, and I have countless beautiful memories from the time spent with fellow students and the teachers. I’m grateful to have found a new, wonderful family. Thank you, teachers. You are absolutely amazing!

April 20, 2019 at 12:00 amThe food was good, and I never went hungry as a vegan. However, there were sometimes limited choices. Towards the end of the course, they started understanding how to improve our food options. I hope they take this knowledge on board for the benefit of future vegan students. I’m actually British, not from the States. The teachers were impressively adaptable to our requests for schedule changes to accommodate our needs. Dewa organized great Sunday sightseeing trips for us. He put in a lot of effort to make our stay memorable in various ways. Their philosophy was to ensure we had an amazing experience. I should also mention Cynthia, our Ashtanga flow teacher. She was fantastic – incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and a lot of fun. ?
