Course curriculum

Hands on assist

One of the most popular and comprehensive parts of our course is the hands-on adjustments module. Here, you will learn how to help your students come back to the present moment, deepen their practice, guide them to better alignment, and assist them in releasing tension stored in their muscles. From backbends and inversions to forward folds and balancing poses, we cover a variety of poses that you can incorporate into your classes. By the end of these 6 days, you will feel more confident in the power of touch and the comfort of breath.

Yoga props

Props are a beautiful addition that can elevate your yoga practice. In this course, we will dive into the significance of using props efficiently in your practice and highlight the advantages they bring to both your practice and your body. You will explore the benefits of props in your own practice and learn how to help your students gain better alignment, extension of the body, deeper breaths, and relaxation.

Sequencing and transitioning

Sequencing a yoga flow, whether it’s for a group class or private session, requires clarity of purpose, necessary warm-ups, counterposes, and more. In this module, you will discover different sequencing methodologies, learn how and when to use each of them, and understand how to progress your sequence to meet the needs of different class levels. We will teach you how to sequence towards a specific goal or peak pose, how to cue your students clearly and effectively, and how to find your own authentic teaching voice. You will feel confident about teaching fun, creative, and intelligent flow classes. In dedicated workshops during the course, you will also learn safe ways to transition in and out of poses, helping your students move seamlessly from one asana to another.

Yoga therapy and nervous system

Yoga therapy is the application of yoga asanas, breathwork, and meditation techniques to address an individual’s physical, mental, and emotional needs. In this module, you will receive in-depth training to help assess and keep your clients safe. You will discover physical postures that address specific areas of discomfort or musculoskeletal imbalances and cultivate a discipline to support healing while aligning with the body’s natural rhythm. You will also learn how to anchor into the body and breath and access the issues that live in the tissues. Additionally, you will unlock the complexities of the nervous system and learn how to manage chronic pain and neurological health issues.

Injury prevention and recovery

Yoga focuses on both the mind and the body, making it a potential tool for addressing both the physical and nonphysical aspects of an injury. By targeting specific muscle groups and areas prone to injury, yoga incorporates movements and stretches that can help prevent common injuries. In this module, we will teach you how to support the healing of injured muscles, joints, and tissues. Our teachers will guide you on how to use the advanced mind-body approach to evaluate the individual needs of your students/clients. You will learn how to assist individuals with their injury recovery by designing a physical routine to target and strengthen weak muscle groups, guiding your students/clients through mindfulness exercises, and serving as a support system to them.

Asana analysis and adjustments

In this class, we will focus on analyzing and dissecting basic and advanced postures. You will learn the correct alignment based on the traditional approach and in line with body mechanics. We will teach you how to offer hands-on adjustments and how to structure them in a Vinyasa class. Our teachers will be present in your practice, observing and providing feedback. In this class, you will learn:

  • Analysis of arm balances, backbends, inversions, forward folds, standing postures, balancing postures, and more.
  • Modifications, other variations, and advanced variations of all postures.
  • How to use yoga props in your yoga practice.
  • Theory and hands-on practice of adjustments (physical and verbal).

Teaching methodology

At YogaUnion, we believe that teaching begins from the moment you enter the shala. Our lessons are designed to build confidence and progress. You will start with one-to-one lessons and gradually move to bigger groups of students. Eventually, you will deliver a 30-minute class to your fellow yogis. Through regular feedback from teachers and fellow students, you will have the opportunity to improve as you go along and find your unique voice and style as a teacher. In this class, you will learn and practice:

  • The YogaUnion Vinyasa structure and principles.
  • Practice teaching and receiving feedback.
  • Learning and practicing hands-on adjustments.
  • Instruction, teaching styles, and qualities of a teacher.
  • Voice projection and floor presence.
  • Planning and structuring a class.
  • Dealing with injuries and safety precautions.

I didn’t find anything lacking in the course. I really put a lot of thought into it. I would have preferred the course to be longer, with more time for discussions and delving deeper into the philosophy part with a group. And let me tell you, the teacher! Their teaching style is so authentic and they are incredibly knowledgeable. They answer questions patiently and approach students with love and support. Teachers like that are hard to come by…

The Shala and the location were absolutely amazing. I loved the people I went through this experience with! Communication and organization were top-notch! I would definitely recommend this course and can’t wait to come back for YIN YTT level 2.

The place, the classes, the teachers, everything was fantastic. I learned a lot about yoga, both in practice and theory. The teachers are always there to answer our questions, they are very available.
However, if you don’t speak any English at all, this training is not for you, you need to have a basic understanding.
Otherwise, I highly recommend this training!!

The way they taught The Anatomy was very scattered and didn’t discuss enough how it relates to different poses in yoga. It would be better if they did the exam right after the lecture so we could use it in our training. Himanshu did an excellent job teaching Pranayama, Flow, and alignment.

Both Himanshu and Faye made this journey unforgettable right from the beginning. They took care of everything, from practical aspects to theory, and provided extra support whenever needed.

Spryos, with his absolute passion for anatomy, made it easy and fun to learn and understand. And even after the training, he continued to offer support.

The three teachers together created a truly wholesome training experience. They made sure that you never felt unprepared before or after the training. They had a way of dissolving all your worries.

What’s more, the community you’ll find here is amazing. Everyone has the same goal and supports each other in thriving in our practices. By the end of the training, you’ll be bursting with joy, grateful to have shared this incredible journey with such inspiring people.

Last but not least, the staff here is simply incredible. They are kind, generous, and hardworking, constantly looking out for all of us and making sure our stay is as comfortable as possible.

To sum it up, if you’re interested in yoga, this is an experience you won’t regret.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much this training exceeded my expectations. Our teachers, Faye, Ippoliti, and Spyros, are incredibly passionate about what they do and they are able to convey their knowledge and love for yoga in a straightforward, detailed, and even fun way. Throughout my stay at Kosta Maria, both the teachers and the hotel staff have been extremely helpful with any concerns, questions, or issues I had. The three weeks of training are intense, but you won’t regret choosing this if you want to learn more about yoga and enhance your practice. You’ll learn so many new things during this period and realize just how much you can achieve with your practice. Plus, it’s a fantastic opportunity to meet people from around the world and grow together.

I suggest that the groups should have different age options. Personally, I wanted to be in a group with people aged 30 and above. This training introduced me to the beautiful world of yoga in an incredible way. The location, a small, family-owned hotel, was chosen wisely and made us feel at home in every possible way. The food was always fresh and delicious, and the staff treated us like family, showing us love and always being helpful. When I needed groceries, a staff member named Stella even took me to a nearby market, which was about a 25-minute walk away.

The training itself was intense, both physically and spiritually. There were times when we all broke down emotionally, but thanks to our amazing instructors, we were able to grow each day. Faye and Ippo, our instructors, were perfect in their own unique ways, with Faye leading incredible alignment classes and Ippo guiding us through exceptional pranayama classes. Despite having less time together, our anatomy instructor Sypros was also exceptional and his passion for anatomy was evident. He motivated us in many ways.

Overall, this experience was truly amazing for me personally. I highly recommend it to anyone who has a love for yoga and is dedicated and willing to invest the time. ???

I attended the 200h vinyasa teacher training with YogaUnion in June 2023 in Ubud, Bali and it truly changed my life. The experience was amazing, learning everything I wanted to know about yoga from a fantastic group of teachers. Not only did I deepen my understanding of yoga, but I also made incredible connections with peers from all around the globe. It was a journey of self-discovery that surpassed all my expectations.

I have to give a special shout out to my lead teacher, Himanshu. He is hands down the best yoga teacher I’ve ever had. Himanshu’s knowledge of yoga, including asanas, pranayama, and philosophies, is unparalleled. He has extensive experience working with students of all backgrounds and skill levels from different parts of the world. Beyond his teaching skills, Himanshu’s passion for what he does is truly inspiring, and he goes above and beyond to support his students in every possible way.

I know I’m not the only one who feels this way about Himanshu. Many of my fellow trainees share the same love and admiration for him. Himanshu is the heart and soul of this training program. The world needs more teachers like him!

I was pleasantly surprised by the 200 hour Vinyasa YTT in Paleros. It went above and beyond my expectations. Faye Balomenou, our instructor, has an incredible passion for yoga and she eagerly shares her knowledge with us. Her alignment classes are detailed and precise, showcasing her experience and confidence in teaching and adjusting. The practices were challenging and inspiring. Eleni Chantzara perfectly complements Faye, bringing thoughtful and valuable teachings in Pranayama and various workshops. Her flows are beautiful and she exudes a gentle energy. Spyros Kapitsinos teaches captivating and original anatomy classes, even after long and tiring practices, keeping us engaged. His wealth of knowledge empowers us in our own yoga practice and teaching through a deep understanding of anatomy.

The hotel is situated in a stunning location, just a short walk outside of Paleros town, with its own private beach accessible by a few staircases. If walking isn’t your thing, there is also a pool. Everywhere you look, you’re treated to breathtaking views of the sea and mountains. The atmosphere in the upper and lower Shalas, combined with the scenery, creates the perfect setting for our yoga practice. The hotel staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, and the food is fresh, varied, and delicious. Most dishes have a healthy and vegetarian spin on Greek cuisine, although some might find it a bit heavy. Overall, I highly recommend this experience!

The food tasted really good! I have a few recommendations though. It would be nice to have more variety in the choice of cereal and fruit for breakfast. Personally, I prefer the porridge to be a bit thicker, rather than soup-like. Also, instead of having stuffed bell peppers and tomatoes for the third time, it would be great to try another dish.

This yoga teacher training went above and beyond my expectations. The teachers were absolutely amazing. They shared their knowledge with such dedication and passion that you can’t help but feel the essence of yoga in your body, mind, and soul. It’s an incredible feeling. I came home feeling like my true self and inspired to continue my own practice and teach others, which I didn’t expect after just three weeks. It wasn’t always easy though. There were ups and downs in both physical and mental states, but it was necessary to push ourselves to our limits in order to realize our capabilities and blossom, just like every woman in the program.

Fay is like a diamond with many different sides to her personality and teaching style. She is critical when necessary to ensure we truly understand what we’re doing, but she also knows how to make us laugh. Eleni is a precious soul. Her way of teaching breathwork and meditation is so appealing, making the techniques easy to grasp. And her yoga flows were so challenging yet satisfying. Spyros made Anatomy class fun and logical with his humor. I was surprised by how easily I could remember the important topics for the exam.

The KostaMaria Family and staff are wonderful. The food is delicious and the rooms are always clean. Plus, it’s only 106 steps to reach the crystal clear water with a stunning view. Don’t miss out on that!

I recommend bringing your own yoga mat or a travel version to put over the existing yoga mats. The training took place in the Earth shala of YogaUnion in Ubud’s rice fields. My accommodation was conveniently located right next to the shala, only 2 meters away. Although there was no pool on-site, we were able to use the pools at other places where some of the other participants stayed.

The restaurant where we had our meals was just a short 3 minute walk away. In the area, there are some great spas and cafes, offering something different each day. Not every meal will satisfy everyone’s taste, but the buffet always has something delicious.

My main teacher, Gourav, is incredibly knowledgeable about yoga, pranayama, and alignment of the asanas. He will prepare you excellently for becoming a yoga teacher. I also want to mention Menik, our amazing anatomy teacher who could answer every single one of our questions and link the anatomy information with yoga poses. And let’s not forget about Laila, our philosophy teacher, who has a really special energy and a soothing voice. She also offers a 50-hour yin yoga teacher training.

We had a mix of different yoga classes like yin, restorative, acro, ashtanga, and nidra, but our main focus was on vinyasa. The classes were more intermediate level, but you’ll learn and get stronger each day.

Our group consisted of 19 lovely participants who made the training enjoyable and incredibly special. I highly recommend it!

I really liked everything, except for the occasional overcrowding at the restaurant and their tendency to always run out of food. It was a bit disappointing. However, what stood out to me was how well everyone took care of us. Himanshu, in particular, was amazing with his knowledge. Despite having 30 more people to look after, he managed to show individual attention and teach each one of us. Laila, on the other hand, was incredibly motivating and filled my soul with love. She gave me the encouragement I needed. Fabien was always there during the training, helping me correct my mistakes. I’m grateful that he kept me company and would give me looks of reassurance, saying, “You can do it, Sherin.” It meant a lot to me. Lastly, Luca was like a ray of sunshine in our group. He was always there when we faced any problem, even personal ones. He served as our emotional protector, and his infectious smile and positive energy never let us feel alone.

Gustis Garden water Shala was filled with rooms full of mold and all my belongings (clothes and shoes) were ruined. The accommodation price I paid was too expensive in my opinion. Luckily, I had my own yoga mat with me because the mats and bolsters were covered in stains and dirt – they were really stinky! The Wi-Fi was extremely weak and slow.

But despite all of that, the training was absolutely excellent and unforgettable. It was an amazing experience, and I even found a second family during my time there. I am so grateful to have had Himanshu Bahuguna as my mentor and trainer. Now, I am a certified yoga teacher and I know that the knowledge I gained from Himanshu will be invaluable throughout my entire yoga teaching journey.

A friend recommended that I do my YTT with YogaUnion, and I couldn’t be happier to have spent these three weeks with all the wonderful souls from YogaUnion. Thank you so much, guys! You were all so professional, kind, and open-minded. I learned so much from you, and this journey has truly changed my life. I will definitely recommend Bali or Greece as training locations for any of my friends who want to do YTT.

I am already looking forward to the 300-hour YTT next year with YogaUnion, and I will definitely follow Himanshu wherever he teaches. Thank you all, and hopefully, I’ll see you again soon! ?????

Unfortunately, I had some uncomfortable experiences with the location. The place wasn’t what I expected based on the videos and photos I had seen on the site for the past 5 years (specifically the rice fields). It turns out that this was a different venue that they use when the first one is fully booked, but that wasn’t made clear to us.

In the future, it would be nice if they informed guests that there are 3 different venues and allowed us to choose a specific one, like the rice fields instead of Down Rabbit Hole.

I also had an issue with privacy due to a neighbor, but luckily Ourania (the owner of Yoga Union) was very thoughtful and is taking steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again in the future.

Aside from those issues, the place itself is nice. The bedrooms are new, and the staff is very friendly, especially the instructors. They all have a high level of knowledge and a great attitude. They were always available to answer questions and provide information.

I want to give a special shoutout to Marina and Anna Viktoria for their amazing classes. They taught with kindness, love, and enthusiasm, and I will always remember them. I also want to thank Gourav and Laila for being incredible, high-level teachers, and Menik for being an amazing anatomy teacher who made learning about fascia and tendons exciting.

I loved everything about YogaUnion and their amazing support team. Whenever other students had an issue, the support team was quick to help. I can’t thank them enough for the life-changing experiences I had with them.

Completing my 200hr and 300hr in vinyasa yoga was incredible, and the 50hr yin TTC was the perfect addition. The teacher was so knowledgeable and inspiring, with a unique energy that made me feel supported and nurtured. Thanks to yoga, I’ve learned so much about life and myself. The Yin TTC allowed me to dive deeper within and find my true self while embracing my authenticity.

I’m already excited for the future trainings that YogaUnion will offer. I can’t wait to continue growing with them. Thank you to YogaUnion, their fantastic teachers, and support team for reminding us about the true meaning of life. Keep up the amazing work, and continue spreading love and kindness in the world!

Mixing individuals with varied levels of yoga experience can result in a situation where advanced practitioners may not receive the maximum benefits from their training. Instructors are often forced to slow down their teaching to accommodate everyone, creating a potential issue not only for this Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) but also for others as well.

Some sessions like the Kriya & Cacao ceremony are not relevant to me. I prefer yoga workshops that focus on skills directly impacting my practice and teaching. It is important to have knowledgeable and patient instructors who can provide guidance.

The accommodations are excellent, and the meals provided are delicious. The staff members are incredibly friendly and helpful.

The yoga workshops are top-notch, and the location is conveniently close to the center of Ubud. The yoga shala is intimate, clean, and well maintained.

The Teacher Training really exceeded my expectations. I have to admit, as someone fairly new to Yoga, the tight and packed schedule could be quite challenging at times. But it was amazing to see how I gradually grew in my yoga practice and on a personal level as well. You wouldn’t believe how much more Yoga is than just physical exercise. The Philosophy classes helped me implement the Yogic lifestyle into my daily life off the mat.

The accommodation in the rice fields was absolutely wonderful and clean. It was just a few minutes away from the shala, where students were spread out in different guest houses. And let me tell you, the food at the restaurant was ridiculously delicious. I highly recommend this experience to everyone who wants to dive deeper into Yoga, regardless of whether you plan to become a teacher in the end.

A place like those rice fields is perfect. Nature surrounds you with its lush green leaves, delightful weather, and the adorable sounds of frogs, geckos, birds, and flowing water. It’s like being in a nature soundtrack.

The shala where we practiced was always well taken care of and clean. They were meticulous in organizing every meal, and they made sure to accommodate my celiac condition every time. The training schedule was also well-planned.

It feels safe, cozy, and professional. I highly recommend it! ??‍♀️?

Tanya, our philosophy teacher, had a more holistic approach. She had spent many years in the yoga world around the globe. It was so interesting to listen and learn from her. She brought a good balance to our classes.
Eleni, on the other hand, was a great teacher with a lot of experience and explosive energy. She always gave clear instructions and explained the alignments thoroughly. We all learned a lot from her and her classes were always a fun experience! I will definitely miss having her as a teacher.

The food got a little repetitive, but hey, you can always go out and grab a bite whenever you feel like it.
Man, the philosophy and anatomy teachers at the YTT are absolute rockstars! I adore them. They know their stuff, but sometimes I do wish they were a bit more prepared for the tricky questions people throw at them.
Let me tell you, the people you meet at the YTT are something else. I mean everyone, from the teachers to your fellow “classmates” to the restaurant and accommodation staff. They’re all just amazing.
Gourav was our Vinyasa and alignment teacher, and let me tell you, he’s a gem. He’s so knowledgeable and hilarious. I always looked forward to his classes.
When you’re there, you’ll learn a ton of stuff, and everyone is super supportive and ready to answer all your questions. Seriously, they’ve got your back.
Honestly, it was one of the most heartwarming and beautiful experiences I’ve ever had. There were even moments when I teared up in class (in a good way). I can’t recommend it enough! If I had the chance, I’d do it all over again tomorrow!

It didn’t quite meet my expectations. The course promised us a different yoga teacher, Himansu, but we didn’t receive that. I also signed up to learn other styles of yoga, like Tantra yoga, Yin yoga, and pregnancy yoga, in addition to Ashtanga and Vinyasa. However, except for a one-off class, we weren’t fully educated on these different styles, which made it difficult to teach them in my own practice.

The course focused on the asana and the mind, but it lacked soul and leadership skills. We had a challenging group who were opinionated and sometimes rude. For example, they would fall asleep during lessons, miss class, lie down instead of meditating, and be on their phones. There was no real leader present to address this behavior.

Overall, the course felt like a trial run for a potential 300-hour program. It would have been better if they had informed us of this before we booked and if the price had been lower. Additionally, the accommodation, food, and individual teachers were satisfactory.

I had trouble figuring out what to include on my resume when I applied for teaching positions. I didn’t know much about yoga alliance or the logistics of working in a studio, like whether I needed liability insurance. These were things I wanted to learn. The hotel staff and everyone working there were incredibly friendly, communicative, and accommodating. At yoga union, everyone worked diligently to make the experience special and delightful. They took care of everything, and those three weeks were stress-free! The food was outstanding, and the instructors were top-notch.

The groups were too big. We had two groups, with around 30 students in each. I wish they were smaller so we could have a stronger connection with our teacher and get more help with our progress. The yoga teachers, Faye, Eleni, Alex, and Ippo, were amazing. They had a wealth of knowledge and were always there for us. I was especially grateful for Angela, who put in so much work and brought so much love and positive energy to everyone. The staff at Kosta Maria were incredibly kind and caring. It’s not easy to cook for a large group with so many different dietary restrictions, but they always provided fresh and delicious meals. They did a fantastic job!

I absolutely didn’t like the philosophy classes and I wasn’t enthralled by the alignment methodology either. I also didn’t like that they advertised a 30-person instructor training and then had two groups of 30 people at the same time. It was overwhelming and I think smaller groups create a different environment. I did enjoy the opportunity to explore another country and the incredible beaches. The quality of the vinyasa classes was excellent but the learning methodology at times left something to be desired. The food was delicious and locally sourced, which I wasn’t expecting; it surprised me but I liked it. What I valued the most was the group of people I met.

I really enjoyed the course and my time there, but there are a few small things I’d like to critique. Sometimes it was a bit difficult to leave the hotel, mainly because of the infrastructure in Palairos. The food was good and they accommodated lactose-free/vegan diets, but the labeling and choices were sometimes a bit odd. They just need to practice more and come up with a wider variety of dishes. I wish we had more opportunities to practice our own sequences, but I understand that there wasn’t much time for it with so much to learn in such a short period. I also would have preferred the course to be a few days longer so the teachers could spend less time on exams and more time with our personal flows, but that’s probably not possible in real life (the other 200h courses I researched were even shorter!). Not everything was always well planned and we didn’t always receive information on time, but everything still worked out. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I’m grateful for the knowledge I gained on this yoga journey. The course was intense and I learned a lot, just as I expected. I particularly appreciated the kind staff at Kosta Maria and the beautiful location. My expectations were mostly met: I was hoping for physically challenging training and it definitely delivered! I wanted to learn about yoga from a holistic perspective and there was a good variety of different viewpoints presented. I expected it to be intense and focused, and it was mentally demanding, but I’m happier that I did it in a shorter timeframe rather than spread out over a year. I also appreciated that it wasn’t overly spiritual – they introduced us to the spiritual aspects but didn’t pressure us into practices like chanting, which I found really nice. Overall, I feel humbled and grateful for all the knowledge I gained.

The chefs made the food with love, but it simply wasn’t up to standard. There weren’t any fresh juices or much fresh fruit, and the meals in general weren’t great. The menu had too much processed soya, not enough variety of vegetables, and it wasn’t very balanced. If they had added a little creativity to the menu, it could have made all the difference.

But let me tell you, the instructors were phenomenal. And you can’t beat the location.

I didn’t really like Gourrav, he was the only instructor that didn’t click with me. He means well and tries hard, but his communication skills are seriously lacking. I’m not sure if he just can’t express himself properly or if something gets lost in translation. But his classes for the Pranayam and vinyassa really got on my nerves because he used the same words over and over again. And it was disappointing when he graded our final practical exams instead of Himanshu because his feedback was terrible and didn’t reflect the actual class at all. He’s just not as good as the other instructors at Yoga Union!

I also didn’t find the workshops on children’s yoga and prenatal yoga very helpful. Itta, the teacher, is a lovely person but not a good instructor. The classes had no structure at all and it felt like she was making things up as she went along. I would have much preferred if we focused more on yogic philosophy since there were sections in our textbook that we never covered. It would have been great to have an ayurvedic clinician come and talk about doshas or yogic diet too.

But overall, I’m really grateful for the experience! The teachers were so passionate, knowledgeable, and engaging. I learned a ton about yogic philosophy, history, and anatomy, as well as proper alignment and teaching techniques. The yoga shala was stunning and despite what others may say, I actually loved the large class sizes. We had two classes happening at the same time and we all ate meals together, so there was always someone new to meet. The group sizes were around 30 and 18. One thing to mention though, the Fire shala had a much nicer space compared to the Earth shala, so I recommend requesting to be in the Fire group. And everyone at YogaUnion was just wonderful to know – the housekeepers, the shala cleaners, the cooks – they were all so thoughtful and kind. Living and practicing in the rice fields was such a beautiful experience. And the food…oh, the food! I’m really going to miss it. They had such a great variety of Indonesian and global dishes, and being vegan, it was perfect for me.

Sometimes we experienced organizational hiccups during the course. The communication regarding transportation and scheduling was occasionally disorganized or delayed. We relied heavily on word-of-mouth for sharing information, using only WhatsApp for communication. If you didn’t have WhatsApp, you would miss out on important updates.

When booking, we weren’t informed that some people would be living off-campus. Personally, if I had known I would have to live off-campus, I wouldn’t have wanted to take the course.

In my opinion, there were times when more attention should have been given to the physical condition of the students. Not everyone was physically prepared for all the poses we attempted, and there were a few minor injuries.

During my stay, there were about 40 students in total, split into two groups. My group consisted of 21 students. However, I was told that some months the groups can be as large as 35 students. Although the group size was manageable, it definitely should not have been any bigger.

Personally, I would have appreciated a more comprehensive education on anatomy, sequencing, teaching methodology, and especially philosophy. It is important to note that this course only provided an introduction to these topics. The experiences varied greatly between the two groups, as it was influenced by the teaching style and methodology of the instructors. Overall, I expected more alignment among the teachers.

Having said all that, I had a fantastic experience and would do it again! The curriculum covered a wide range of topics including anatomy, philosophy, alignment, and of course, practicing yoga. I enjoyed the holistic approach. Theoretical lessons were sometimes tiring since we sat on the floor, but the combination of theory and practice allowed us to explore and delve deeper into the concepts.

The quality of the teachers was excellent and appreciated by everyone. However, it was a surprise to not know which teachers would be instructing during the month of our stay when we booked.

The staff at Kosta Maria Hotel were incredibly kind and accommodating. They were always ready to help and had a great sense of humor. They truly made our experience special! The food was delicious, and I appreciated the regular meal times and the overall high standard of the hotel. It was impeccably clean, and my room had the most amazing view of the ocean.

Lastly, I was truly impressed by the other students. They were caring, kind, and always friendly. It was a pleasure to be around such a supportive community. We could always rely on each other for help whenever it was needed.

The food at the training could have had more variety. It felt like we were constantly having the same 5 or 6 recipes over and over again. Plus, sometimes the food was too salty or too sweet for my taste. But not everyone felt the same way ? I guess it’s just a matter of personal preference. Before I booked the training, I spent a lot of time reading reviews from former students and I was a bit skeptical. It seemed too good to be true. However, this training completely changed my life. I wasn’t completely sure if I wanted to become a yoga teacher before, but now I can’t imagine doing anything else. Yoga makes me incredibly happy and connected to my true self.

We were so fortunate to have formed such a close-knit group of students, with amazing and kind people. From day one, everyone genuinely cared about each other. We spent three weeks in a loving and supportive environment where we felt safe to fully dedicate ourselves to our practice. I’ve made lifelong friends and I feel incredibly lucky!

Now, let me tell you about the teachers (Rachel and Ippoliti aka Ippo or Ippopo or Chop Chop). They exceeded all expectations and their teachings and personalities will stay with me forever, no doubt. They didn’t just teach us what we needed to know for the exam, but they also shared their experiences as yogis and human beings, inspiring me in countless ways.

Before the training, I had only been introduced to asana and pranayama. However, learning about philosophy, anatomy, and alignment helped me deepen my practice in ways I never thought possible. It’s like there’s an entire ocean of yoga knowledge in front of me, and a lifetime won’t be enough to learn even half of it.

Lastly, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to Kostas and his family, who made this training extra special! Lots of love.

The people in my training group were the main issue, not the training or the teachers. Many of them were judgmental and closed-minded Westerners who only saw yoga as a workout and ignored the spiritual aspect. They lacked open-mindedness and acceptance, leading to cliques and gossip. I wish we had embraced everyone and had a larger group where everyone was treated equally. I didn’t enjoy it much, but I managed to ignore the negativity.

Maybe part of the reason I didn’t enjoy it was because the Fire group had too many people. It would have been helpful to know in advance that there would be over 30 people in one group. Additionally, during lessons, it was mostly the same dominant individuals who kept asking questions, making it harder for quieter people to benefit from the lessons. So, your personality plays a role; extroverted people may thrive more in this environment.

The food was not to my liking either, especially the vegan option, which left me feeling hungry as it often lacked sufficient protein. Some meals, be it lunch or dinner, didn’t even offer any protein at all.

However, I must say that the teachers and the training itself were amazing. Even though we only learned how to plan 30-minute lessons, we can use this knowledge to create hour-long lessons on our own time.

Out of the 30 students, including me, 7 of us were staying at a different place than the actual accommodation. This place was a 5-minute car ride or a 20-minute walk away. It didn’t really bother me to stay somewhere else, except for the fact that the daily pickups to the actual accommodation were hardly ever on time. As a result, we sometimes ended up walking and being late for class.

The training was advertised as Vinyasa/Ashtanga, but in my opinion, it was mostly just Vinyasa. However, they did cover almost all styles of yoga, including Yin, Restorative, and Yoga Nidra. Despite this discrepancy, my overall experience at YogaUnion was fantastic. The teachers, Ippoliti, Rachel, and Eleni, were extremely knowledgeable and kind. The classes were informative, and the teachers were always available to answer any questions. The staff at the accommodation were also very kind and attentive. If you decide to come during the winter, just keep in mind that Greece can get pretty cold. So make sure to pack some extra layers and warm clothes. Now, let me tell you about my amazing experience with my teacher training in Palairos.

First off, let me just say that Faye is a total rockstar when it comes to yoga. She teaches in a straightforward manner and really knows her stuff. Her instructions are crystal clear and she pushes everyone to be the best version of themselves. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher.

Next, we have Laila, who is such a gentle soul. She has incredible knowledge about breath work, meditation, yin, and nidra yoga. But what really impressed me was her ability to break down those tricky arm balancing poses. She truly is a master at it. And when Faye and Laila come together, it’s like the perfect balance of yin and yang.

And let’s not forget about Jonas, our anatomy teacher. I absolutely loved his classes! He has a knack for explaining complex subjects in bite-sized, easy-to-digest pieces. If you’re lucky enough to have Jonas as your anatomy teacher, get ready to be blown away (just be prepared for his dry sense of humor, haha).

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Faye, Laila, and Jonas for providing such an unforgettable and enlightening teacher training. I learned so much and will be forever grateful.

Now, let’s talk about the place we stayed in Palairos called ‘foodpath’. It was only a 5-minute walk to the beach, surrounded by breathtaking mountains. It was a truly authentic Greek experience. The food there was out of this world. It was so diverse, made with fresh ingredients, and always tasted amazing. You could really feel the love and care that Adonis and Elli put into every meal. They were always there for us, taking care of everything. I can’t thank them enough for opening up their home and making it feel like our home too.

All in all, I highly recommend coming here for your teacher training. You won’t regret it.

Yoga Union showed their experience in yoga teacher trainings through our Paleros one. We had an amazing curriculum that was well-organized, fantastic teachers, personal feedback, and we started teaching right from the beginning. Not to mention, the location was absolutely incredible. Oh, and if you get the opportunity to work with Fay Balomenou, don’t think twice! She’s hands down the highlight of this teacher training. I’m extremely satisfied with my decision to train here and I’m thrilled to be part of the Yoga Union family now!

Honestly, there wasn’t much that we needed assistance with during our time here. The staff always did their best to help us out and find a solution. It was really great!

I have to say, this yoga teacher training has been one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. Our teachers, Ippoliti and Rachel, were amazing. They were both excellent teachers, and I learned so much about the theoretical and practical sides of Yoga. My meditation practice has improved so much too!

The chef here is seriously the kindest person you’ll ever meet. He always wants to make sure that we enjoy the food he cooks, and let me tell you, we were all SO excited for every meal. The whole group really connected well, and we truly enjoyed each other’s company!

The hotel itself is nice and simple. One of the best parts for me was that some incredible animals came to nap in the garden, which made my stay even better since I love animals.

Palairos is such a beautiful town, and the beach is still relatively untouched. We loved going for a swim there every day after class.

A special shoutout to Ippoliti, who was so helpful and kind. We’re really going to miss you! ❤

I finally requested and paid for a double room, but ended up in a triple room. Luckily, the overall experience was still great. It’s unfortunate that there were no props provided for Yin Yoga alignments due to Covid restrictions. It would be better if they improved communication about this, so that students can bring their own props. Despite that, my experience at YogaUnion was awesome.

The teachers and instructors at YogaUnion are outstanding. They are very professional and take the time to share their knowledge and experience with humility, responsibility, and precision. But what stood out the most was their beautiful humanity and the happiness they brought to the students and the place.

The food at YogaUnion is amazing. It’s balanced, made with fresh ingredients, and includes delicious fruits for vegetarians and vegans. Additionally, the documents provided to understand the class were well-done and amazing.

By attending YogaUnion, you will definitely learn how to become an excellent certified Yoga teacher. Thank you to everyone at YogaUnion for an amazing experience. I will definitely come back in the future. Your energy and professionalism are top-notch!

I absolutely loved everything about this training! The location took my breath away, the food and accommodation were fantastic, and the teaching was outstanding. The course struck the perfect balance between physical asana practice, meditation, lectures, and alignment classes. The teachers, especially Ippoliti, were incredibly helpful and always there to lend a hand. The group size was just right, and I made lifelong friends with my fellow yoga teachers. Ourania was incredible, bursting with knowledge, and her classes were a blast! The course was so amazing that I actually decided to extend my trip and stay an extra week to complete the 50-hour Yin Teacher Training course, which was equally as magical. I will forever be grateful to YogaUnion and am proud to be part of the YogaUnion family. Oh, and there was a baby kitten at the hostel that was just the cutest thing ever!

The accommodation in Greece didn’t meet our expectations in terms of comfort. We had centipedes and other insects in our room every day because the door didn’t shut properly, leaving a small gap at the bottom. On top of that, there was no washing machine and no closet for us. They didn’t clean the rubbish bin in our bathroom every day as they promised. Instead, it only happened once a week, even though they asked us to throw our used toilet paper inside it. Furthermore, the food they cooked was very repetitive, and sometimes there wasn’t enough for all of us. Despite these issues, the teacher training itself was absolutely amazing! It’s just a shame that the accommodation couldn’t match up.

I loved everything about the experience, except for the food. It could have had more variety. But I understand that cooking for 20 girls with different dietary restrictions must have been challenging. This 3 week intensive course has been the most incredible experience of my life. Everything was absolutely amazing. The village we stayed in was so authentic, and the family who ran the hostel were lovely and always ready to help. The instructors, Fay, Spyros, and Ourania, were not just amazing teachers, but also wonderful human beings who went above and beyond for us. The shala had a magical view, and the yoga and meditation classes and workshops were fantastic. I can’t say enough good things. I’m so grateful I joined the Yoga Union Bali family for this journey, and I’m incredibly excited for what lies ahead. This experience made me feel so connected to life, nature, and the people around me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you did for us. I would have preferred a more structured mark scheme and feedback form for the final flow. It would have been beneficial to get input from two teachers instead of just one. It would have been better to receive written feedback with different criteria like structure, voice, atmosphere, adjustments, and teaching skills. The location was fantastic, only 5 minutes away from the Shala and away from the beach. The quality of teaching was outstanding, and I learned so much. Special thanks to Faye, who was incredible. Ourania was also a great teacher, and Spyros was very helpful and kind. The food and accommodation exceeded my expectations. These three weeks were some of the best of my life, and I highly recommend doing this program, even if you’re unsure about it. Don’t worry about not being good enough because everyone comes in feeling the same way about their practice. It doesn’t matter! I didn’t plan on teaching afterwards, but I fell in love with the teaching aspect and yoga even more. Now I want to start teaching and preparing for my 300-hour certification! I also met so many wonderful people, and everyone was friendly and lovely.

The whole experience – the location, the activities, and the people I met – changed my life. Nicol was an amazing teacher. I learned so much about my body and the barriers I face. I always looked forward to practicing pranayama and meditation every morning with Kati. She showed me how to understand and love myself more. I enjoyed having a lot of people on the course. I really wanted to give a 100% good review, but our philosophy instructor just didn’t seem confident in the material she was teaching. She only spent 2-3 days discussing what would be on the test, and then completely switched gears and had us doing random exercises like smelling flowers and touching rocks. It was so frustrating because we were supposed to be focusing on concrete information for the exam. She didn’t encourage questions, couldn’t stay on topic, and let some people dominate the conversation. I even asked her to focus on the exam material, but she basically said there was no way to cover it in eight days and asked how I expected her to do that. I didn’t think that was a suitable response from an instructor. None of us felt prepared when the exam came, and many of us had to cram last-minute.

It would have been great if we had received the training manual in pdf format before the retreat so we could study ahead of time. The recommended books were helpful, but I think they should have been required reading so that we all came to the training mentally prepared. The retreat in Bali was a mix of work and enjoyment, so having the opportunity to do some prep work beforehand would have made it easier to just relax and enjoy. The alignment classes were incredible. I felt so lucky to have learned from Himanshu. He is a dedicated, dynamic, and knowledgeable instructor. Himanshu taught us all the major yoga alignments and gave us practical tips for using them in our practice. He really pushed me to surpass my limits, and he expected the best from the entire class. Throughout the 23-day course, my strength, stamina, and flexibility improved a lot. I was able to try new poses I had never attempted before. We started teaching right away, so I felt fully prepared for my final demonstration. Himanshu guided us through everything step by step. He also gave great guidance on more subtle aspects like breathwork, which helped me go deeper in my meditation and pranayama by the end of the course. He truly equipped me to become a better yoga practitioner.

The food at the Mansion during the training was the only disappointing factor. As a long-time vegan, I found limited protein and complex carbohydrate options which was challenging for students studying and practicing yoga. The lack of variety after 3 weeks made everything repetitive. However, YogaUnion did try to address these issues with the Mansion Hotel for future trainings. Despite these food challenges, I loved the 200 YTT with YogaUnion! The passionate and knowledgeable teachers, especially Nikol, made it a fantastic experience. After the third week, the food started getting a little repetitive but still tasted good.

In classes, teachers should ask someone from the retreat to demonstrate the pose, no matter their level, instead of always choosing the most flexible or strongest yogi. This way, everyone can see how the teacher guides and corrects the student in the pose. It will be more beneficial for us to learn how to teach beginner and intermediate students rather than focusing on those who already know everything. Yoga is not about comparing ourselves to others, so some yogis were disappointed to always see the same advanced student demonstrating the pose.

I hope this feedback can be considered for future retreats, but overall I really enjoyed the experience and highly recommend it. The location in the middle of the rice fields was beautiful! The shala and restaurant were amazing, and breakfast was the highlight with a variety of fruits, muesli, homemade coconut yogurt, and sometimes pancakes and French toast. Everyone was friendly, and I had a fantastic time. It was truly a life-changing experience. Plus, it was more affordable compared to other organizations, which made it even better! 🙂

If you’re not good at English, I strongly advise against signing up for this course. There’s a lot of theory and philosophy that you need to understand for the rest of your training. Personally, I don’t speak English well and I don’t understand it very well either. I tried it out, but it was very difficult because I had to do double the work (translating my textbooks into French).

The accommodation at Mansion Resort felt like a dream honeymoon! I splurged on a double room and it was totally worth it. I wish there had been more moments of silence during the training so we could focus inward and really dive into our inner yogic journey. The training felt a bit surface-level, mainly just passing along information. I suggest incorporating a few silent days (especially at the beginning!) or maybe every morning before breakfast. This way, students can take time for meditation, pranayama, and really connect with their asana practice. It’s important to understand the true essence of yoga, rather than seeing it as just a workout at the gym. Himanshu, our teacher, did a fantastic job of making classes enjoyable while also challenging us to do our best. His wisdom resonated with us in a way that allowed us to take what we needed. The other teachers were also amazing, and I truly appreciate the opportunity to learn from them.

I wished we had started with an introduction for all participants at the beginning, maybe with some fun games or activities so we could learn everyone’s names.

In anatomy class, we learned that you can build strength quickly but tendons and ligaments need more time… I wish the teachers had reminded us to listen to our bodies and slow down instead of pushing us to always go further in poses. In the intense 3-week training, it wasn’t realistic and I noticed that more than half of the class ended up with injuries. I wished there was more flexibility and adaptation on some days.

I expected more information and adjustments for beginner yogis, considering the YTT was advertised for both beginners and advanced students.

In philosophy class, I would have preferred starting with basic information instead of diving straight into deep discussions that were hard to follow, especially for non-native English speakers. I feel like I didn’t get a good grasp on yoga philosophy due to the unstructured approach to the topics.

Despite these challenges, I enjoyed the atmosphere created by the teachers, trainees, and Karmayogis. The schedule, food (though more fruit variety would be nice), location, and structure of the training were all positives. I appreciated learning good alignment techniques and starting teaching practice early. The internationality of the training, special events like the cacao ceremony and silent walk, and the devoted teachers all added to the experience.

Our knowledgeable teachers create an immersive and accessible environment that stimulates personal growth and deeper understanding of the yogic way of life.

I didn’t love the philosophy classes, mainly because we didn’t have much time to discuss yoga concepts critically. However, I did appreciate the teachers making an effort to review key terms for exams. I still believe future yoga teachers should be able to analyze yoga philosophy beyond just memorizing concepts like chakras, doshas, and gunas. The philosophy discussions were lacking or didn’t feel safe to voice concerns.

The food didn’t excite me after two weeks.

Despite these minor issues, everything else exceeded my expectations in a positive way! It was a remarkable and unique experience that’s hard to leave after three weeks. Spyros and Ourania have created a loving, supportive environment for yogis and future teachers. They are truly inspiring. Himanshu in our morning asana practices was fantastic and helped me grow stronger. Each teacher brings their unique personality to the Shala. The rice field setting felt like another world. The Shala, located in the middle of the rice fields, offers daily practices and classes in a stunning and peaceful setting. The accommodations and restaurant, where you’ll enjoy all your meals, are just a short walk away through the rice fields.

The experienced teachers, including Himanshu, Ourania, Spyros, and Nikol, each bring their own unique style and strong knowledge to the program. You’ll learn so much from them and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn from such impressive individuals.

The training program covers meditation, yoga practice, alignment, anatomy, and philosophy lessons every day, providing a comprehensive and strong foundation. It’s an intensive and demanding program, but it was a life-changing experience that I would definitely do again!

There isn’t much to say about what I didn’t like about it, maybe just that it’s over I’ll definitely come back for the 300 hr training when it happens Meeting people from all over the world who were on similar paths for self development and discovery was such a beautiful experience. I made connections that will last a lifetime! I also loved how challenging the asana classes were. It was tough but in a good way. Sometimes I surprised myself and didn’t realize I could bend in certain ways that I did

Food becomes repetitive. The accommodations vary for everyone, which wasn’t clear to me at first. Some people stay in a luxurious mansion resort while others stay in the peaceful rice fields. There’s a wide range of accommodation options. I wish they had focused more on spirituality and ‘self development’ like they mentioned. But, overall, it was an unforgettable experience that transformed me. So, I’d say… these minor issues don’t compare to how amazing it was.

One thing to note is that the group is usually around 30 people. We all became like family. However, if you prefer a smaller, cozier group, this might not be the retreat for you! Personally, I thrive in smaller groups and wish there had been fewer people for more personalized attention. But the team is truly fantastic, which is why so many people flock to this retreat! You won’t regret it. I stayed in the serene rice fields and it provided the perfect backdrop for my yoga teacher training. The training was physically demanding but incredibly fulfilling. It’s hard work, so be prepared for that. The teachers, for the most part, are knowledgeable and caring. They are dedicated to helping you become the best yoga teacher you can be. The food was generally good. Yes, it did become repetitive towards the end, but that’s to be expected. The lovely ladies who prepared the meals were so kind.

I absolutely loved this experience and wouldn’t change a thing, honestly!

I was pleasantly surprised by the views of women and femininity in philosophy. Vegan food didn’t have a tag or anything, but that didn’t bother me. The philosophy lessons were taught very theoretically, which I found somewhat distanced from our reality. I booked this experience not knowing what to expect, but overall, it was very good. At first, I thought I would never be able to do it, but I surprised myself in the end. I think it had to do with the spirit and everything around me. Thank you for helping me grow. Ourania and Spyros are truly magical people with a strong, positive, and loving vibe that you cannot resist. The place has a magical feel with the rice fields and village surroundings, yet it is also close to Ubud’s city center. I really enjoyed my time there!

I really wished the lunch and dinner meals had more fresh vegetables and less carbs. Breakfast was top-notch, but some of the other meals didn’t quite meet my healthy expectations for a yoga training in Bali. The instructors, though? They were absolutely amazing. They motivated, inspired, encouraged, and were just lovely. They genuinely care about each person in the training, and they truly made the whole experience unforgettable. The impact they had on me was incredible. The shala where we practiced was also stunning. I’d recommend this training to anyone looking for a beautiful, meaningful, fun, challenging, and life-changing experience. I’m beyond grateful for the instructors and the entire experience.

The teachers had different teaching styles, but overall they were good. Since I already had a strong physical practice, I felt like the course was aimed more towards beginners. The anatomy and philosophy lessons were also more geared towards those who were new to yoga. The location at Ubud Nirwa Karma was great, with comfortable accommodation. The food was delicious and the shala was impressive. The overall setup of the place was well done. If you’re looking for a self-development trip and are just starting out with yoga, this course would be a fantastic choice.

Every review I’ve read says that the food is repetitive and standard, but honestly, you don’t want too much variety for your body with the physical stress you put it through every day. It was just fine for what my body needed after 2 hours of daily vinyasa. I am so happy I chose this course. I looked at probably thousands in many different countries, and this one by far exceeded my expectations. It was hard. Really hard. They recommend that you read a few books before coming. Read them. They recommend you have a yoga routine before coming. Do it. I did a little bit, but 3 weeks isn’t enough. There’s so much information. But once you accomplish it, it’s so rewarding. The rest of the group I was with were some of the most amazing people I’ve ever met. We became a family, and it was beautiful. You laugh, you cry, I have some bruises… but all worth it. For the super affordable price, it’s so much more than you would think. Nikki was an outstanding instructor. She pushed you enough to see what you are capable of, and you truly surprise yourself. Spyros was the best anatomy instructor. He is so passionate! Thank you Yoga Union!!!

The food, the rooms, and the classes were all beyond my expectations. I wish everyone could have the opportunity to experience something like this. Himanshu, Ourania, and Spyros were amazing teachers. Himanshu made classes fun while also being informative. Ourania was a powerful yet peaceful presence that inspired me and gave me hope. Spyros made anatomy easier to understand with his down-to-earth approach. The school is challenging with lots of studying and homework, but it is definitely worth the hard work. I loved everything about the training. I wish I could have seen and experienced the main union yoga shala in the ricefields, but being in the mansion resort group, I couldn’t. Also, I believe the closing ceremony is nicer and more authentic there. Sometimes the resort was noisy since our shala was near the pool area, which wasn’t ideal for certain classes, but overall the resort is very nice! The teachers are amazing. They teach you everything you need to know about Asanas, alignment, variation, and the benefits. They care for you and teach with serious love and commitment to yoga. It’s like tough but caring love for all the students. I am grateful to Nikole, our main teacher, for all the effort, patience, and care she put into teaching us. Spiros and Ourania are wonderful too, and they really build a great yoga community here. It’s a lot of information to take in during the 3 weeks, so make sure to rest and clear your mind in between classes to absorb it all again, especially for the exam. The teaching structure starts right away, and you build your flow step by step, teaching each other. It’s an intense physical, mental, and emotional, but amazing experience, and people grow into a yogi family. I will forever be thankful I did this! Namaste.

This course performed magic on me. I stayed in a guest house, right in the center of the rice fields, that exceeded all my expectations. The vegetarian food they served us three times a day during the training was enjoyable.

The instructors were amazing. Himanshu, an incredible yoga teacher (seriously, one of the best I’ve ever had), motivated us to push ourselves and achieve our full potential. Ourania and Spyros taught alignment and anatomy, and were knowledgeable and fantastic teachers who gave clear instructions and explanations. They were so kind, genuine, and compassionate, always looking out for each of us to ensure we were happy, healthy, and able to focus on yoga.

Throughout the course, we practiced various styles of yoga like yin, vinyasa, ashtanga, and hatha. We also explored different types of pranayama and meditation every morning. The workshops on foundational postures improved most of our practices almost instantly, with people learning headstands, arm balances, and back bends more quickly and safely than ever before.

I highly recommend this training. It has transformed my practice and my life, and I can’t wait to return to beautiful Ubud someday to experience even more of its magic.

I loved staying in the rice fields during my yoga teacher training! However, some of us, including me, didn’t know we had the option to stay in the rice fields or at the mansion until we arrived and the groups were already split. I suggest that they inform us of our choices when booking to keep everyone happy. Despite this, I was happy with my stay, but preferences may vary.

Deciding to come for a yoga teacher training in Bali was the best choice I’ve made. If you’re still on the fence, I say go for it! The energy in Bali is magical and, combined with incredible teachers like Ourania and Himanshu, and the amazing people you’ll meet, the experience becomes truly transformative. It’s a peaceful place where you can be yourself surrounded by supportive people.

The training is challenging both physically and emotionally, but the supportive group will help you through it. Regardless of your reasons for attending, you will grow and improve. While your troubles won’t vanish overnight, with practice and dedication, you will see progress. YogaUnion in Ubud is the perfect place to start your journey.

To my September course group mates, I am grateful for meeting you all. You’ve helped me grow and believe in myself, and I hope I’ve done the same for you. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. And to our wonderful teachers – THANK YOU for sharing your wisdom with us!

I suggest revising the training book to correct mistakes and add missing postures. Everything else is perfect. The Ricefield Yoga Shala is like a dream, with unique details surrounding it. I highly recommend Yoga Union’s classes in Bali, especially the ricefield group. The remote location away from busy Ubud, the sounds of nature, and the pathway to the beautiful shala all make it a magical experience. The hotel options around the pathway made us feel like neighbors in a little village. My hotel, Nirwa Ubud Karma, was very comfortable.

While the morning meditation and afternoon practices were enjoyable, they didn’t really feel like they were preparing us for Yin training.

I was most disappointed by the lack of communication in the beginning regarding the location of my training. They advertised that it would be at the rice field Shala and we would be served food from a nearby organic restaurant. However, I ended up at the mansion resort and the food got repetitive, which made it hard to feel nourished after long yoga sessions.

It was tough to deal with initially, but I ended up with amazing instructors so I wouldn’t change a thing. I was also looking for a more interpersonal and self-growth experience. While I did learn a lot about myself, I had hoped for deeper connections with the instructors and the group as a whole.

The instructors at the training were phenomenal. They each had their own specialties and passions, which is evident in how they shared their knowledge with us.

I gained a priceless amount of information about yoga, anatomy, and philosophy in just 3 weeks. This was largely due to the incredible instructors chosen for the training.

Throughout the 3 weeks, Yoga Union was always responsive to our concerns and needs. As most of us were traveling from all over the world, I felt safe and well taken care of by their team.

We had a large group, so we didn’t get much personal critique on our teaching or practice, but it wasn’t a big deal. The energy from the group was awesome and it was cool to meet people from all over. Plus, more students meant more learning opportunities. The Shala’s location in the rice fields was just stunning. Being surrounded by nature in Ubud was magical and away from the chaos of the town center.

The teachers were top-notch and each had their own style which was fun. They made everyone feel welcome and safe. The variety of yoga styles and workshops kept things interesting. The course really prepared us to teach and I got to work on my practice too.

Anatomy and philosophy lessons were taught well and gave a different perspective on yoga. The food at the nearby restaurant was surprisingly good with lots of options for different diets. The staff even listened to our suggestions and accommodated dietary needs.

The last week’s schedule seemed a little disorganized, but it still worked out fine. I wish we had more practice teaching time, but I think the other group got a lot of that so I guess it depends on your teacher (ours was still great). The accommodation was much nicer than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. The teachers were all awesome and very understanding and accommodating for our injuries and other issues. 1) The food at the Mansion got pretty repetitive – lots of vegetables (meat-lovers, beware!). But breakfast was great! They had the best spread of food.

    2) The course can be intense (as expected!) with lots of people burning out or getting sick by the second week. We could have done a better job at pacing ourselves. Unfortunately, our group had a rough time with back-to-back practice days due to messed up break days in the second week, leading to exhaustion. However, the instructors were very supportive and allowed us to take breaks when needed, which was greatly appreciated. I went into this trip with no expectations and was completely blown away by the whole experience!

    3) The course covers yoga holistically through three main classes: asana alignment, yoga philosophy, and anatomy. You learn about the physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of yoga. The course also touches on pranayama, meditation, and the art of teaching a class. We were tasked with preparing a class almost every day, with the length of the lesson increasing as the course progressed.

    4) Our group had an accommodation issue and ended up at the Mansion Hotel in Ubud, a really nice resort. I shared a family suite with another person.

    5) One of the best parts of the course is the community you find. I met people of all ages from around the world, and our shared attitude towards learning and growing made our differences insignificant. I made some amazing friends from this course, and even after it ended, we continued to hang out in Bali or in each other’s countries. I would recommend extending your stay in Bali to spend more time with new friends.

I was disappointed when the school had to change the location due to circumstances beyond their control. I was really looking forward to being in Ubud and staying in the rice fields, but we ended up at the Mansion hotel instead. Don’t get me wrong, the hotel was beautiful and the staff treated us well, but I was hoping for more nature and yoga.

On the bright side, I did get to see Yoga Union’s shala and it was breathtaking! It was the most beautiful shala I have ever seen, surrounded by the rice fields. The teachers were fantastic and the whole experience helped me on my journey to becoming a yoga teacher. The classes were interactive and fun, and I learned something new every day. The teachers were attentive and made sure we were all doing well throughout the course.

I also met some incredible people who I hope will be lifelong friends. I would love to return to Yoga Union one day. I highly recommend this school to anyone looking to become a yoga teacher. It was an amazing experience that I will never forget.

I wish we had more than 23 days! ;( Everything exceeded my expectations. Despite having some experience with yoga retreat programs, I thought I knew what to expect. But you know what? I gained an incredible awareness of myself and the confidence to become the person I want to be. Best of all, I was happy throughout the entire program! The teachers gave just the right amount of guidance, allowing me room to grow while also providing a strong foundation. Huge thanks to all the teachers and staff who made this program possible. The food might have been a bit repetitive, but it was still delicious. That’s the only fault I could find! I loved everything else about it. The course helped me grow mentally, physically, and spiritually. The teachers were incredible and supportive, and they will continue to be in the future. The amount of anatomy we covered made me feel really confident in my teaching moving forward. Overall, I couldn’t find any faults with it at all.

The program in Bali had a few minor issues due to its newness. It could have been easier to pay the remaining amount with a service like PayPal. Some guesthouses were nicer than others despite the same price. The restaurant where we ate had a beautiful setting and friendly staff, but the menu was repetitive until we asked for a change. These were small issues, but they wouldn’t stop me from wholeheartedly recommending this yoga training. I loved the experience overall. The teachers were incredibly knowledgeable and embodied the Yogi philosophies. The daily vinyasa classes were all unique and creative, spoiling me for classes back home. I gained valuable knowledge and felt fully prepared to start teaching my own classes.

YogaUnion gave me the best 40-year-old present I could possibly think of – a life-changing experience at Ourania! The magic of yoga was all over that shala as I completed my first 108 sun salutations, like one thousand chaturangas, and shared beautiful moments with 36 souls from 5 continents. We enjoyed boiled eggs and banana pancakes, shed tears, and shared plenty of laughs and deep, emotional conversations. Now, I have a yogi family thanks to YogaUnion.

Come in ready to learn, this course is all about school, not vacation. There’s a ton of homework, studying, and preparation involved. Sundays are your only day off, but there’s not always time for fun activities. It’s a super intense 3 weeks, but trust me, it’s worth it in the end. If you want to explore Bali, just extend your stay a couple more days or weeks. I absolutely loved every part of it, despite the ups and downs.

The course itself is structured really well. You’ll start teaching small lessons in the first week, which may seem intimidating, but by the end of 2.5 weeks, you’ll be more than ready to teach your final 30-minute class. You’ll also dive into philosophy, anatomy, and meditation, with tests to ensure you’re absorbing the material. It seems like a lot, but it really helps you become a well-rounded yoga teacher. Afternoons are dedicated to exploring different yoga styles, while mornings start with a Vinyasa Flow class. The yoga classes are top-notch and cater to all levels. Your own yoga skills will definitely see improvement during this time.

The teachers are truly incredible and supportive. They’re there for you, whether you need help with yoga-related matters or personal support. You’re never on your own!

As for accommodations, remember you’re in Bali, so expect encounters with bugs in the open bungalows. It’s all part of the experience, so just come prepared with bug spray and long pants.

Now, onto the food. The meals are healthy, delicious, and served at the same restaurants three times a day. It’s not uncommon to have some repetitive dishes, but you always have the option to dine elsewhere if you prefer. Enjoy your culinary experience!

Just put in the work, participate, and give your best in the yoga course – your practice and your life will change, guaranteed. The instructors are super organized, the classes are engaging and informative, and the variety of classes was great. They really took care of us well and I was able to focus all my energy on myself. I definitely recommend Ourania, Spyros, Sarah & Jac – each of them has their own special talents and really invest in their students. Don’t wait, just go for it!

I didn’t like the location of the accommodation as much. The house was extremely secluded (not by the beach and no notable view), there weren’t any public transportation options, no shop for hygiene products, and the beach wasn’t within walking distance. If we hadn’t rented a car, we wouldn’t have seen anything of the beautiful peninsula. Also, my room was in the same house as the yoga classes, dining area, and common room. Personally, this wasn’t ideal for me because it was always relatively noisy and I couldn’t find a quiet place to retreat to. I spent the whole day going up and down the stairs in the same house. The yoga classes were top-notch professional – the teachers were all very passionate and knowledgeable. I learned a lot in a relatively short amount of time and I am really happy.

I found it a bit tough living in the same house as three other girls during the courses. At first, it was fine, but as time went on, the schedule got busier and I got less sleep. I really needed every break we had to rest or study, but the house was always full of people until late at night. It was hard to find peace and quiet to relax. Being cooped up in the same place for everything – learning, courses, meals, sleeping – felt a bit suffocating. The upside was that we rented a car to escape to the beach or town during breaks, which was a nice change. The food gave me some stomach troubles after a couple of weeks, but I just ate out occasionally to mix things up. Overall, the housing situation was my only gripe and I’d suggest a different setup for future retreats. Other than that, it was a fantastic experience. The yoga teachers were passionate, skilled, and dedicated – it exceeded my expectations. I learned a lot, enjoyed the company of the people I met, explored beautiful places, and grew as a person. I highly recommend the experience. The teachers were top-notch and I appreciated learning from a variety of experienced practitioners. The anatomy and philosophy lessons were engaging and the surroundings were stunning. I made some great connections and the house we stayed in was lovely. It was a really positive experience overall.

I loved every part of my experience at Yoga Union, but the only downside was that it had to end. It’s been less than a week and I already miss the classes so much! I would definitely suggest Yoga Union to anyone wanting to become a yoga teacher or improve their practice. Even before I got to the training, I could feel the warmth of the teachers through our communication. I was feeling quite unwell before the training and wasn’t sure if I should attend, but Yoga Union gave me the support and time I needed to decide. Their kind responses gave me the confidence to go for it, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made!

The training was amazing right from the start with challenging vinyasa classes and immediate learning. I enjoyed the classes taught by different teachers like Ourania’s vinyasa, Sarah’s yin, Spyros’ Hatha, and Tony’s restorative classes. The yin class was a perfect break from the intense vinyasa classes. The days are long and the practice is tough, so make sure to amp up your practice before starting the training.

The theory sessions were thorough, and we started teaching right away, which was the perfect way to learn. This approach helped us develop our teaching styles and boosted my confidence. I suggest reading the course books before starting as it gives you a solid foundation and knowledge that will guide you through the training.

The organization of the training could be improved professionally. Here are a couple of things that would really enhance the quality of the training:

    – Use the books recommended in the lessons by asking students to read chapters in advance of the class. (Some students bought the books but never used them)
    – Provide a detailed schedule of the 3 weeks at the introduction dinner on day 1. For those who can’t make it, make sure they have a schedule in their room when they arrive, so everything is clear.
    – Ensure the description of accommodation is accurate. The wrong description can lead to disappointment.
    – Avoid talking negatively about previous students, as it can make current students feel uneasy. They might worry they’ll be the topic of conversation next.
    – Make sure every student receives the same attention in their teaching exam. It was confusing to see one student getting full attention while another was left in the back with the teacher on her laptop. Not fair.

The teachers were very passionate and taught with lots of love for yoga. I learned a great deal about alignment, the human body, philosophy, and the asanas. The days were well-structured, starting with morning meditation techniques followed by an amazing 1.5-2 hour yoga class with Ourania. Breakfast was a highlight with fresh fruits and delicious porridge or black rice pudding. The asana classes were insightful, helping me master the right postures and corrections. The philosophy lessons with Coralia were enlightening, teaching me more about the background and theory of yoga. The anatomy classes were a bit scattered due to missing pages in the syllabus, but overall, I gained valuable insights into how the body functions in yoga.

The three weeks was a challenging but rewarding journey with 29 other students. The first week was tough on the body, but by weeks two and three, I had adjusted. Overall, it was a great personal experience with room for improvement in the next round of yoga teacher training.

Firstly, the course advertised a maximum of 15 people, but ended up with 35 students. This was frustrating because I didn’t receive any constructive feedback for over two weeks due to the high student-to-teacher ratio.

The Anatomy and Philosophy classes were poorly structured and hard to understand, not because of the content, but because of the way the lessons were managed and communicated. We were told not to take notes and didn’t receive relevant handouts to follow along with. The Teacher Training manual was badly printed and had to be reprinted.

All the required texts were meant to be included, but most of us ended up buying an additional text that was quite helpful for the Anatomy component.

During our practice teaching, the teachers seemed distracted and didn’t provide solid constructive criticism. They would come in and out, be on their phones, even when we were being assessed and graded.

I wished for a more supportive learning environment where no one would be left behind. The surroundings were stunning, walking by the rice fields every day was beautiful. The yoga classes were fantastic, with both teachers being passionate and clear in their Vinyasa lessons. They were able to give detailed and professional feedback and adjustments when asked.

The food was delicious, with a great selection of vegan options. It would have been nice to have more protein options other than just Soy products.

The disorganization was my main problem. We never knew where we were supposed to be the next morning and would wander around until we found our teachers. I didn’t like the lack of a plan in advance, only finding out a few days ahead. I understand the teachers wanted flexibility, but having a plan would’ve helped us prepare and not feel stressed.

I never got the Shatkarma kit that was promised and had to ask for the included massage. They didn’t mention these things from the start.

I think they need to hire an admin person so the teachers can focus on teaching. They were knowledgeable and shared personal experiences to help us learn. Ourania and Koralia had different teaching styles, which was helpful. We got feedback and started teaching early on, which was nerve-wracking but beneficial.

The location in Ubud was beautiful, with great views. The accommodation was basic but comfortable. The WiFi at Gusti Garden was better than Prashanti, and the owner was helpful. We stayed at different guest houses along Sok Wayah.

The food at Prashanti was tasty, but not sure if I’d call it fully macrobiotic. It was vegan Indonesian style.

I had a fantastic time with supportive, like-minded students who I now consider friends.

They didn’t organize anything as promised. We had classes all over the place – I was in one location, eating in another. It was chaotic, with a lot of confusion and last-minute changes. The instructors were amazing, but the way they explained anatomy made it seem like they were just making it up as they went along. I couldn’t believe they had run a ttc before, let alone for 8 years straight. It felt like their first time. It stressed us out, and instead of being peaceful yogis, we were worried about failing because we thought we were too dumb. Overall, I didn’t like the vibe from the instructors, but they tried to fix it. Hopefully, the next one will be better. But despite all that, I still enjoyed it! I especially loved the location in the rice fields, even though I wasn’t living in Prashanti – Dragonfly for yoga was great. Ubud is amazing, and I absolutely loved Bali!

The structure and organization of the program need serious improvement. I think having an assistant would have been very helpful. They didn’t handle things properly, which made a lot of students upset. When we were asked for feedback, the teachers got defensive and ignored our input.

The website said there was a maximum of 15 students, but there were actually 35 of us. They told us it didn’t matter, but I beg to differ. I felt like I didn’t get enough guidance or support, and often felt overlooked. It seemed like certain students got all the attention.

I was promised one accommodation but ended up in a much worse one that cost the same. My room had mold issues, which left me with a sore throat and runny nose throughout the training. My luggage even got covered in mold. I tried to speak up, but felt like no one cared.

The studio where we practiced was gorgeous and I learned a lot. I appreciated being introduced to different types of yoga, but I wish there was more explanation. The teachers were knowledgeable but not very organized. Despite the challenges, I did meet some amazing women.

The accommodation didn’t meet our expectations…the bathroom was pretty musty and damp, and there were no drinking water facilities.

Overall, everything was very nice, just little things. Sometimes, because of the large size of the class, we were spread between different venues, which created confusion at times. A few things could have gone more smoothly, but it was their first time organizing in Bali. Both the teachers were amazing…incredibly strong women, each with unique qualities. It was awesome to have them as mentors.

I loved the long meditation. It was an awesome personal experience. The feedback was great, and it gave me good insight into yoga teaching and yoga as a lifestyle and life choice.

Ourania teaches an incredible vinyasa flow class that will push you to your limits in your own practice and teaching journey. The combination with Corelia is perfect as they both have years of experience and share their knowledge in training. I learned a lot and really appreciate these two teachers for sharing their expertise.

We could have organized several things a bit better, but hey, we’re all human and make mistakes. I was in paradise at the place, it was so beautiful and green. The teachers were awesome, very helpful and understanding.

Let’s organize our day and make sure we know where we need to be. Don’t forget to bring your anatomy documentation for the lesson. Dinner is always the same every day. We will be discussing the philosophy of yoga and practicing yoga in a beautiful setting during breakfast and dinner.

They advertised 15 people, but we were actually 33, so it’s a misleading advertisement. The instructors didn’t seem open to feedback. The anatomy classes and course material were disorganized – they didn’t include the anatomy book we needed on the list, so we had to pay extra to get it printed on A4 papers if we wanted it. The Vinyasa morning classes were amazing! The location is stunning, right in the middle of the rice fields! Coralia’s adjustments were always spot on!
