Plus, you can easily reach Ubud market, cafes, temples, waterfalls, and even the beach with just a short walk or drive.
Food
Food is a crucial part of our lives and provides us with the energy we need to survive. What we eat can greatly affect our physical and mental well-being. This is especially true when it comes to practicing yoga. Yoga teaches us that food is not just about getting nutrients for our bodies, but also about nourishing our minds and spirits. Ayurveda, which is closely related to yoga, helps us understand how different foods impact our overall well-being. According to Ayurveda, “Sattva” refers to the purity of our thoughts, feelings, and actions. Sattvic foods promote purity in both our minds and bodies, keeping us clear-minded, compassionate, and calm. These foods also help sharpen our intellect and foster positive thoughts and satisfaction. Following a sattvic diet can help us stay alert, refreshed, and peaceful. At our yoga school, we follow the teachings of Ayurveda and provide our students with delicious vegan meals three times a day. Our experienced and caring kitchen team prepares the food hygienically and with love. The meals are buffet style, allowing our students to enjoy a variety of vegetarian dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We also provide drinks to keep our students hydrated throughout the day. So rest assured, all of your meals are taken care of during your time with us.

February 19, 2024 at 12:00 amThis yoga retreat wasn’t what I expected. I stayed at a yoga school where I could take classes with the 300h TTC group. The situation made me, the students, and the teachers uncomfortable. The 4 of us in the retreat didn’t have any check-in, introductions, schedule, or dedicated teacher. Instead, we had to attend classes where others were training to become teachers. I’m already a teacher and was hoping for intermediate or advanced classes, or at least classes tailored to us retreat attendees. The school itself was great, with nice facilities and a good location. The staff and teachers were friendly. It’s a shame the retreat wasn’t advertised accurately.

February 15, 2024 at 12:00 amUnfortunately, the retreat turned out to be more of a Yoga school where we had to join the classes. I felt lost at times and wouldn’t suggest it for beginners. The students and teachers seemed happy, but they didn’t expect us. I wish there was a separate yoga teacher for the retreat folks to fully enjoy the classes without disturbing the regular students. The accommodation was nice with friendly staff.

December 12, 2023 at 12:00 amI didn’t dislike anything in particular, but the other attendees were surprised to see me since I was the only one doing a yoga retreat while they were all doing yoga teacher training. However, I still had a great time because I approached it with a positive attitude and a desire to learn. The staff at Bali Yoga School impressed me with their politeness and helpfulness. They made me feel extremely welcome. Even though I’m not vegan, I absolutely loved the food served at every meal. The fruits were incredibly sweet and the rest of the dishes were full of flavor, with fun and catchy names.

November 18, 2023 at 12:00 amI didn’t attend a retreat. I spent 5 days alone and then joined a group of 10 people for a month-long 200-hour yoga program. They had been doing yoga daily for two weeks already, aiming to become teachers, so the skill levels varied. The focus was not on relaxation; it was about quickly learning and getting the certification, not enjoying the practice as I had anticipated. Maybe they should let people know beforehand what kind of group they’ll be joining if they sign up for the retreat. By the way, the place was fantastic, the staff was incredible, and the rooms were really nice.

October 5, 2023 at 12:00 amI found everything great! The teachers were amazing and kept us engaged, they provided useful alignment tips, and they really fostered a sense of confidence within the group. The facilities were nice and the sense of community was fantastic.

May 15, 2023 at 12:00 amThe accommodation wasn’t great… and it was expensive for what we got. It was loud and narrow, and there wasn’t much space for us to relax and have our own privacy. The food was good, but it was always the same. However, the teachers were excellent, and the people there were nice, available, kind, and helpful. Despite the issues, everything else went well.

February 14, 2023 at 12:00 amThe instructors were really nice and had a positive approach. I learned a lot in just two weeks. The classes flowed smoothly and we had longer breaks to rest and relax between lunch and the next class. I highly recommend this place and the wonderful people working there. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. It was such a peaceful and relaxing environment. I will definitely come back for more classes when I’m in Bali. Thank you for such a fantastic experience!

July 16, 2022 at 12:00 amSometimes I would get hungry after finishing my meal portion, but it was alright because I would just prepare some instant food. 🙂 I really love this school! Overall, I would rate it a 9.5 out of 10.

May 16, 2022 at 12:00 amThe 300hr Yoga Teacher Training with Himalayan Yoga Ashram is absolutely amazing! I can’t recommend it enough. They covered everything in such detail and provided comprehensive information. From the daily yoga practices to the anatomy classes and discussions on philosophy, meditation, and breathing techniques, it was all top-notch.
I was truly impressed by the way they taught everything. The anatomy classes were especially great because they explained the mechanics of the body in a way that was easy to understand and relate to. It was so much better than just learning without really understanding.
The feedback on our assignments was really helpful too. It was constructive and encouraging, which made me reflect on my own development.
This course not only deepened my knowledge in traditional yoga, but it also gave me a newfound love and appreciation for it. I feel so much more prepared and confident to teach in a classroom setting now. It has truly inspired me to keep learning, practicing, and embracing the path of yoga.

May 2, 2022 at 12:00 amN.A. Himalayan Yoga Association offers a comprehensive and thorough teaching manual. You can watch the pre-recorded training videos whenever and wherever you want, at your own speed. The daily zoom live classes help us understand different aspects of yoga, and we can ask the teachers any questions we have. I really hope I get to visit Rishikesh someday. I’m so grateful for this amazing course. A big thank you to Saumya-ji!

December 23, 2021 at 12:00 amThank you so much for this incredible experience! I participated in the 300hr Online Yogateacher Training in November and it was truly amazing. The Yoga Theorie liveclasses were so clear and easy to follow. The information was spot-on and I absolutely loved immersing myself in yoga for an entire month. I was pleasantly surprised by how connected I felt to the other students in the course. It was like being part of a small community, which I never expected from an online training. The practical live classes were also fantastic, and I’m thrilled to have delved into Ashstanga Yoga. The small groups made the online yoga teacher training feel more private and less impersonal, allowing me to ask all of my questions during the live classes. Thank you so much to Bali Yoga School and HYA for this incredible opportunity. Namaste!

November 29, 2021 at 12:00 amHonestly, I liked everything. The food was nice, and as a vegetarian, I didn’t feel like I needed anything else (except maybe an espresso!). I absolutely loved the place; it was so peaceful. My experience with the teachers was amazing. I learned so much from Shanti Ji, Ida Ji, and Niki Ji. I’m incredibly grateful to have met these beautiful souls in my life. Dewa Ji made me feel at home. I am 100% happy with my experience, and all my memories with Bali Yoga School will always hold a special place in my heart. I wish I could have stayed longer. Wishing you all the best. Thank you so much.

March 31, 2020 at 12:00 amThe tropical weather can make mosquitoes quite annoying, so don’t forget to bring mosquito spray. The school is beautiful and has a great location. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, and the teachers are very professional. The Balinese vegetarian meals are delicious, with different varieties every day. I had a great time studying here and will definitely recommend it to my friends.

March 30, 2020 at 12:00 amI felt a lack of protein in the meals since I’m not a vegetarian. It wasn’t enough for the physical effort required, and as a result, I personally lost a lot of weight, which isn’t a positive thing in my case.
The rooms should be cleaned better, especially the areas with insects.
I would have liked to stay longer, but I will definitely come back. ??
The place is beautiful, the schedule is perfect, and the food is amazing.
The teachers are simply incredible. They made me feel comfortable right away, and despite their young age, you can tell they excel at their job, whether it’s in theory or practice. Neelam Ji is funny and passionate. Durgesh Ji is calm and soothing. Rahul Ji is very professional and patient, and lastly, Ankit Ji, my favorite teacher, is fun and challenging. He brings a breath of fresh air to the class. Thank you to all four of you for your kindness, patience, and passion you put into your work. I wouldn’t hesitate to have the same experience with the same teachers again. ❤️?

March 6, 2020 at 12:00 amMosquitoes have evolved there, so it’s a good idea to bring long yoga pants for class. The spray won’t be very helpful, haha! I absolutely loved the alignment, Vinyasa, and Ashtanga classes. Ankit ji and Rahul ji are both incredibly professional and knowledgeable. They really exceeded my expectations. I also want to give a special thanks to Durgesh ji and Dewa ji for taking such good care of all the students. The accommodation was lovely, and the staff were so welcoming. I especially loved the local family who lived right next door – it made me feel like a local myself. It was my first time trying a vegetarian diet, but the food was so delicious and there were so many options. It actually helped me lower my fat and build muscle. Overall, my experience with Bali yoga school was absolutely incredible. I had such a fun and amazing time!

February 25, 2020 at 12:00 amI read some reviews previously and learned that the program had undergone significant changes in terms of the food and syllabus. I did my program in January, and I now know that they’ve changed the location and food. However, I have to say that nothing met my expectations. The food was high in carbs and didn’t seem nutritious at all. Despite being assured that my gluten-free needs would be accommodated due to my celiac disease, there was no understanding of what ‘gluten free’ actually meant, which resulted in me falling sick frequently. Additionally, it felt like there was a disconnect between the goals of the students and the teachers. As a result, I wouldn’t recommend this training for 300-hour students. On the positive side, I did enjoy the opportunity to spend time practicing yoga!

February 25, 2020 at 12:00 amThe school lacked organization and professionalism, which affected the quality of teaching for a 200-hour qualification. Throughout the course, the tutors changed five times and they were inexperienced in teaching teachers. Moreover, they often arrived late, causing students to also arrive late. The management of this school was unprofessional as they did not conduct an exam on teaching yoga. Instead of teaching how to deliver a yoga class as a teacher, the yoga classes were simply that – yoga classes. The food provided was extremely poor. Surprisingly, some students who missed several classes still managed to receive a certificate at the end of the course. Additionally, the excursions were not located where they were advertised on the website, and even though they were supposed to be included in the package, students were expected to pay for them. It seems that this school’s main focus is making money rather than educating or producing a high standard of teaching. The owner, who was unhelpful and unapproachable, spent too much time with one particular student. This raises questions about his qualifications as a yoga teacher and as a professional manager of a yoga school. On a positive note, Ubud is a lovely place to visit. Durgesh, Dewa, Ankit, and Rahul were the only redeeming aspects of the school as they tried their best to address the numerous problems present.

February 25, 2020 at 12:00 amThe school had a lot of issues – it was disorganised, unprofessional, and the teaching was really poor.
Before the classes started, they didn’t even add up to 200 hours. The tutors were always late, which made the students demotivated and they started coming late too, so the classes were even shorter. One class was even cancelled because of rain (during the raining season!), which made the hours reduce even more.
The yoga classes were just regular yoga classes. They didn’t really teach us how to ‘teach’ yoga, except for two sequencing lessons. And the most alarming thing is that we were never assessed on our yoga teaching or even asked to teach yoga.
A lot of students missed a bunch of classes, maybe around 40% of them, and yet they still passed and are now considered ‘qualified yoga teachers’.
There were five changes in teachers. The Astanga class, meditation class, alignment class, and pranayama class tutors changed, and then changed back, without any warning or explanation, not even to the tutors themselves.
Twice, I had to console another student who was crying because the tutors confronted her for complaining to management.
The food was terrible – it was basic, bland, and never enough.
I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel like this school not only provides a terrible experience for students who pay a lot of money, but it’s also potentially dangerous because they’re certifying people who aren’t ready to teach yoga.
Honestly, I think this is a terrible school that was only set up to make money. It’s hard to find something I liked because almost everything was disappointing. The only good thing was the pool at the accommodation, which was nice, and the manager of the accommodation was really helpful. I felt like she was embarrassed about the low-quality food that the yoga school recommended. Most of the other students had nice accommodations, but my friend and I were placed separately and our rooms had a lot of mold. When I checked out, I noticed that some of my clothes had mold on them, but the manager was really helpful and got them cleaned quickly.

February 23, 2020 at 12:00 amThe Anatomy and Philosophy classes are not organized well. You can easily find better information by Googling or watching YouTube videos, which are much clearer than what the teacher says. They only briefly mention the 5 Kleshas in their notes, when you can find the exact information on a website. They barely cover the 7 chakras.
One of the meditation teachers suddenly left and only left a message through WhatsApp. We were informed by another teacher without any official notice. There is no contingency plan or backup if a teacher gets sick. They just tell the students to study on their own. What would happen if a teacher got sick for a few days?
They changed the pranayama teacher in the middle of the course, and then changed again. There was no communication between these teachers, so they didn’t know what the other teacher had already taught.
I came to Bali to learn how to be a teacher, but we didn’t have much time for teaching practice. We didn’t come here just to practice yoga, because we can do that in our home country. The school should provide guidance on how to teach yoga for students to practice, not just practice yoga themselves.
The school grouped students from different courses together, like those in the 100 hours, 200 hours, 300 hours, and 500 hours programs, and we all learned almost the same things. They should separate the students based on their yoga level into different classes.
It’s disorganized and what I learned is not enough to become a teacher. The lead trainer was not capable of leading the course.
The food options were limited and lacked variety.
Ankit and Rahul are young but passionate about teaching, especially Rahul. He’s willing to spend extra time teaching advanced poses to students. The course coordinator, Deva, tried his best to address the issues and take action.

February 17, 2020 at 12:00 amI was really disappointed with the training. I was hoping to learn so much more practical knowledge on teaching, but I feel like I didn’t learn much at all. Some of the teachers seemed inexperienced and didn’t have the training to effectively teach others, even though they had a great personal practice. The lack of structure and coordination between the teachers was frustrating. It felt like we didn’t get what was promised in the syllabus.
It was also frustrating that they combined the 100hr, 200hr, and 300hr classes. The 300hr program was basically the same as the 200hr, and we did almost every class together. If I had signed up for the 300hr program, I would have definitely asked for a refund.
The management and scheduling were a complete mess. The program wasn’t in-depth or structured at all. I think the instructors are good people with good intentions, but I don’t feel like I got my money’s worth at all.
Another thing that bothered me was the “included excursions.” They only provided transportation to the excursions, and we still had to pay for everything once we got there. There was very little communication about that. However, the accommodation was nice and the food was good and healthy. The instructors were young, but they were all kind and good-hearted people.

January 30, 2020 at 12:00 amThe Philosophy classes didn’t have as much discussion as I expected, and the Anatomy classes didn’t provide as much practical knowledge as I had hoped. It seemed like the focus of the course was more on personal growth rather than teaching others.
Right from the start, there were some communication issues. I had booked private accommodation and confirmed it via email, but when I arrived, I was told I had to share for one night. I ended up finding another place to stay for that night, so I didn’t have to share, but I wasn’t happy about the mix-up.
The program was also poorly managed. Classes often started late because the teacher was late, and some were even canceled without any backup plan due to teacher illness or bad weather. When I provided feedback, some teachers took it seriously and made improvements, but others made me feel like I was causing trouble. That didn’t sit well with me.
The food was good for the first week, but then it became repetitive. Just a heads up, you’ll have Thursdays afternoons and Sundays off, but be prepared for lots of mosquitoes.
Our Vinyasa teacher, Rahul Ji, was incredible. He had so much energy and was really passionate about sharing his knowledge of yoga. I absolutely loved his classes. We also learned a lot of traditional adjustment techniques from him, which were really fun to practice on each other. Ankit Ji’s alignment classes were clear and detailed, and he always made sure we understood everything. I appreciated how he incorporated theory into his Ashtanga practical classes. Aylan Ji taught us Pranayama, and her classes were delivered beautifully. Her personal journey in yoga was inspiring to hear. Durgesh Ji’s meditation classes were exceptional. They were well-structured, explained thoroughly, and incredibly enjoyable.
We had different teachers for Meditation, Alignment, Pranayama, and Ashtanga, which was a great opportunity to experience different teaching styles.
We stayed in Puri Suksma, and it was an absolute paradise to practice and study in. Surrounded by nature, we had visits from monkeys, squirrels, and various types of insects. It felt like living in a National Geographic documentary.
I met incredible people from all over the world during the program and learned so much from them. Completing this program has allowed me to make new friends, become more in tune with my body, discover new aspects of myself, and improve as a yoga practitioner. I’m truly grateful for this experience.

January 30, 2020 at 12:00 amThe food remained the same every day. Some of the classes lacked clarity on who had already taught, who hadn’t, and what level participants were at. As a result, they started everything from scratch, even for those who already had 200 hours of teaching experience.
We practiced a lot, but there was no guidance on how to structure a class or create a flow. When we asked the teacher about it, they seemed unaware that we were in a ‘teacher training’ course. Although I gained knowledge about philosophy and other subjects, I didn’t get a chance to actually teach a yoga class during the four weeks there. Now, I’ll have to do more research on structuring a class because it’s something we weren’t taught. The teachers were great, but the classes lacked any sort of structure.

January 16, 2020 at 12:00 amI really wish the school would provide coffee for our afternoon/before lunch classes. It would help with the tiredness from our morning exercises and improve our concentration. I love how this experience brings me back to simplicity – simplicity of the mind, expectations, resources, and especially food and relaxing locations.
I want to express my appreciation for all the hard work and preparation the teachers have put in. I had great learning experiences in Yoga Asanas with Rahul Ji & Ankit Ji, Types of Breathing with Aylan Ji, and Meditation with Durgesh Ji. It feels like I’ve been at this school for a long time and I don’t want to leave.

October 31, 2019 at 12:00 amThere should have been more yoga/meditation according to the program. Not everything matched up as announced. The day trips lacked variation and flexibility.

October 1, 2019 at 12:00 amFinding the Bali yoga school was quite challenging – they have two locations. One is for teacher training and the other is Dewa’s place, where you can go for short retreats. You should definitely ask for directions. During my stay, I spent seven days at the retreat, which was managed by Dewa and his wife. Let me tell you, they were amazing hosts who would go out of their way to ensure your comfort. The guest house was absolutely charming, and they even had a lovely pool. The massages by Mini were so rejuvenating, while the yoga sessions led by Cynthia and Armin were just perfect. If you’re in need of a break from all the chaos, this place has got everything you need to recharge and relax.

June 29, 2019 at 12:00 amNothing. I’m satisfied with everything. We had a small group, quality teaching, accommodations reserved exclusively for students, so we formed a family, had meals together on site, and had a total immersion experience.

June 23, 2019 at 12:00 amThe people who looked after the accommodation and us had some communication problems, but they weren’t too significant. The teachers were incredibly knowledgeable and gave us everything we needed for the course. The location was fantastic – we were fully removed from the busy streets with a small temple right next door, yet still close enough to meet all our needs in Ubud. The food surpassed my expectations; it did get a bit repetitive towards the end, but it was always fresh and plentiful. I’m really thankful for that.

May 29, 2019 at 12:00 amThe location of the accommodation is in Ubud, but to get to the center or a proper supermarket, you usually need a taxi because the accommodation is a bit secluded. Super teachers who were dedicated to everything, spacious and generous single rooms with their own shower and toilet, which were cleaned daily by the staff. The food was always served on time and lovingly prepared, mostly vegan and gluten-free 🙂

May 16, 2019 at 12:00 amWell, first of all, I received an email with the address of a new location in Bali at the last moment. When I arrived late at night, it was difficult for me to find the new place and I had trouble finding a phone number for the course leaders online. To my terrible surprise, the place I arrived at was not the same as the one shown in the pictures on the retreat ad. The pictures were very misleading and this caused a lot of distress, not only for me but for the whole group. I was shocked because I had traveled a long way and had already paid my deposit online. I actually considered leaving. The accommodations were really disappointing and the yoga shala was also not good. This greatly affected my initial impression of the entire YYT and their staff, which made them lose credibility. The negative feelings and vibes continued for some time during the training. However, we discussed the matter as a group with the course leader and they resolved the issues by changing the accommodations and arranging for us to have morning practices at a much nicer yoga shala a few times a week. The food started off really nice and varied, but then the presentation and variation started declining. The cleanliness of all areas was also unsatisfactory. It was such a shame that we had to go through this lack of organization and unprofessional management at the beginning of our journey to become Yoga Certified Trainers.
Now, let’s talk about Bali. It truly is a special place with warm and smiling people. As for the YTT, I have to say that the instructors made it all worthwhile. Their deep knowledge and positive energy helped me get through the strict yet rewarding schedule every day. Special thanks to Guru Pradeep Ji, who has a clear and in-depth way of explaining postures and alignment. His expertise, along with the other teachers’ knowledge and energy, made the course truly valuable. The delicious vegetarian meals were also one of the highlights. Additionally, the experience of being in a group with people I had just met was heartwarming. The moments and experiences shared during the short but intense course with all the amazing people there are unforgettable and truly priceless.

May 11, 2019 at 12:00 amWe recently completed our 200-hour TT with Bali Yoga school, which is associated with the Himalayan Yoga Association in Rishikesh, India. We were on the lookout for a yoga school that could provide us with authentic knowledge of yoga, and the teaching staff did an incredible job of delivering just that throughout the course.
Each day, we would begin with Shatkarama (cleansing process), followed by Ashtanga yoga led by the fantastic teacher, Pradeep ji. He possesses an in-depth knowledge of yoga anatomy and alignment, and his expertise in yoga science was evident in the instructions he gave us. Over the span of four weeks, we learned three new asanas each day and gradually progressed through the Primary series of Ashtanga Yoga.
Meditation and philosophy were the highlights of our day, with the opportunity to learn from the humble Johsan ji. He taught us complex topics with lightheartedness, making it easy for all of us to grasp and understand.
Cinthia’s Vinyasa flow was also great. She provided valuable insights on sequencing, teaching cues, and encouraged everyone to teach, which made the practical assessment component of the training much more enjoyable.
Our rooms were equipped with hot water, air conditioning, a communal pool, and a designated study area for our nighttime study sessions. The food was provided by a caterer organized by the yoga school, and it was overall excellent, especially the breakfast. All of our meals were vegetarian and gluten-free.
In conclusion, it is a truly exceptional school. We highly recommend it. Minal and Hesh

May 1, 2019 at 12:00 amThe teachers at this yoga school are the most positive thing about it. They are absolutely lovely people, so full of energy, passion, and dedication. They know how to motivate us students and they have so much knowledge to share. They love spending time with us new yogis and are always smiling and available to help. They truly inspire me and give me the strength to stay focused on this path. They have all given me a piece of their souls, and I have so many wonderful memories of the time spent with them and my fellow students. I’m grateful to have found a beautiful new family here. Thank you, teachers. You are simply amazing!

April 20, 2019 at 12:00 amThe food was good, and I never went hungry as a vegan. Sometimes, the choices were limited, but towards the end of the course, they started understanding how to improve our food options. Hopefully, they will take on board that knowledge for the benefit of future vegan students. It’s important to note that I am actually English, not from the States. ? The teachers were impressively adaptable to our requests for altered schedules that suited our needs. Dewa did a fantastic job organizing our Sunday sightseeing trips, making our stay memorable in many ways. Their philosophy was to ensure we had an amazing stay. I must mention Cynthia, our Ashtanga flow teacher – she was awesome! She had tremendous knowledge, was approachable, and made the classes so much fun! ?
