Kundalini chakras and activation

Kundalini is a Sanskrit term that refers to the spiritual energy that is said to lead to higher levels of consciousness and spiritual enlightenment. Chakras are the energy centers in the human body. There are a total of seven major chakras in the human body, and each is associated with a different color and has a different function. The first Kundalini chakra is said to be located at the base of the spine. When this chakra is activated, the Kundalini energy is said to rise through the chakras, bringing about spiritual awakening and transformation. The activation of the Kundalini chakra can occur spontaneously or through specific practices such as yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises. Awakening the Kundalini energy is a powerful experience that should be approached under the guidance of a qualified spiritual teacher or practitioner available at World Peace Yoga School.

Kundalini yoga traditions followed at World Peace Yoga School

World Peace Yoga School follows Kundalini Tantra and yoga traditions. These are the two important traditions that involve the awakening of the Kundalini energy in any human body. Kundalini yoga is a form of yoga that incorporates meditation, asana, breathing techniques, and mantra chanting to awaken the Kundalini energy and move it up through the chakras. Kundalini Tantra, on the other hand, is a form of Tantra that uses meditation, visualization, and ritual to awaken and harness the Kundalini energy for spiritual and personal growth. The practice of Kundalini yoga and Kundalini Tantra can be beneficial for students because it offers a unique approach to spiritual and physical development. The awakening of the Kundalini brings a range of benefits, including healthier life, heightened awareness, increased creativity, improved physical health, and greater spiritual connection. World Peace Yoga School offers a holistic approach to yoga that incorporates the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of the practice. This can help students develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their connection to the world around them.

Seven chakras in Kundalini yoga

Kundalini chakras are the seven major energy centers in the human body, according to Kundalini yoga and Tantra traditions. Each chakra is associated with a different color, element, and area of the body, and is believed to be responsible for regulating physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.There are several ways to awaken each chakra, including yoga postures, meditation, visualization, chanting, and pranayama (breathing exercises). The best way to awaken each chakra may vary depending on the individual's needs and level of practice. It is recommended to work with a qualified teacher or practitioner who can guide you through the practice and ensure your safety and well-being.

Have a look at seven chakras:

1. Root chakra (muladhara)

The muladhara chakra is considered to be the foundation for the Kundalini energy and is therefore an important chakra in the awakening process. Kundalini awakening starts at the muladhara chakra, and as the energy rises through the other chakras, it leads to greater spiritual awareness and awakening. The chakra is also associated with the qualities of grounding, stability, and security. When this chakra is balanced and functioning properly, it helps one feel rooted and grounded in their physical body and the present moment. It also helps them feel secure and stable in their relationships and their material and financial situations.

2. Sacral chakra (svadhisthana)

The swadhisthana chakra is considered to be the center of creativity, sensuality, and pleasure. It is also associated with emotional balance, flexibility, and adaptability. When this chakra is balanced and functioning properly, it helps individuals to experience joy, pleasure, and passion in their lives. It is important because it plays a key role in people's ability to connect with their emotions and healthily express them. When this chakra is blocked or unbalanced, it can lead to a range of emotional and physical issues, including depression, anxiety, sexual dysfunction, and addiction.

3. Solar plexus chakra (manipura)

The manipura chakra is the center of willpower, physical power, and self-esteem. It is also associated with metabolism, digestion, and energy levels. When this chakra is balanced and functioning properly, it helps one to feel motivated, confident, and empowered. The manipura chakra is important because it plays a key role in one's ability to take action and manifest their goals or desires. But when manipura is blocked or unbalanced, it can lead to a range of physical or emotional issues, including lack of motivation, low self-esteem, digestive problems, and fatigue.

4. Heart chakra (anahata)

It is an important chakra as it plays a key role in one's ability to give and receive love, form meaningful relationships with others, and experience joy and gratitude in their lives. When this chakra is blocked or unbalanced, it can lead to a range of respiratory, emotional, and physical issues such as heart problems, depression, loneliness, etc. By cultivating emotions, compassion, and love through the practices of Kundalini yoga, one can open their hearts and experience greater joy and connection in their lives.

5. Throat chakra (vishuddha)

The throat chakra, or vishuddha, is the fifth chakra in the Kundalini yoga system. It is situated in the middle of the neck and is connected to the sense of hearing, the ether element, and the color blue. According to traditional beliefs, the vishuddha chakra is the seat of creativity, self-expression, and communication. It is a significant chakra since it is essential to one's capacity for genuine expression and good interpersonal communication. People may reach their full potential and live their lives to the fullest by practicing Kundalini yoga, which fosters communication, self-expression, and creativity.

6. Third eye chakra (ajna)

According to yogis, it is the sixth chakra located in the middle of the forehead and is linked to the element of light and intuition. The Ajna chakra is thought to be the seat of intuition, inner knowledge, and spiritual insight. It is a significant chakra because it is essential to one's capacity to enter into levels of higher awareness and communicate with their inner selves. Confusion, headaches, and loss of focus are just a few of the emotional and physical problems that can result from this chakra being blocked or out of balance.

7. Crown chakra (sahasrara)

Sahasrara is referred to as the crown chakra. It is found near the top of the skull and is linked to the cosmic element and a feeling of unity. The sahasrara chakra is regarded as the seat of connection, divine wisdom, and enlightenment to the spiritual world. Being a symbol of the greatest state of awareness and the culmination of spiritual work, it is a significant chakra. A variety of emotional and physical problems like a sensation of spiritual emptiness and a sense of being cut off from the divine can arise when this chakra is out of balance or blocked.

Kundalini awakening

The Kundalini chakra can awaken on its own or as a result of specialized activities like yoga, meditation, and breathing techniques. It is crucial to remember that the Kundalini energy awakening may be a potent experience that should be handled carefully and under the supervision of a trained spiritual teacher or practitioner. For yogis who desire to improve their practice and teachings of Kundalini yoga, get certified as professional Kundalini yoga teachers, and experience the beauty and culture of Bali, this 500-hour Kundalini yoga teacher training course in Bali is a special and significant opportunity.

I’m not sure what the agreement between World Peace Yoga school and the hotel was, but I think we could have gotten higher quality food for the money we paid. When I booked this teacher training, I thought I’d be okay with eating the same meal every day, but I was wrong. We mostly had steamed or fried rice/french fries with vegetables, tofu and tempeh, and salad twice a day. Sometimes the salad was unwashed or had mold on it. I would have preferred more nutritious options like quinoa, lentils, or other nuts besides peanuts, even if it was only every few days. Breakfast was good though!

Another issue was that I ended up with a completely different teacher training than what I had booked. The photos of the hotel were different from what I experienced, and it seems like this program was new. I expected more discussion on Ayurveda, based on the title of the training, but we only had 2 lessons on it in the end. Still, I’m happy with what I learned and experienced. Just a heads up to future reviewers that things may not turn out as expected, which can be a valuable life lesson.

I really enjoyed learning from the teachers and deepening my knowledge about Yoga. Thank you Ashu for sharing your Indian culture in your lessons, even though the storytelling sometimes made it hard to connect with the material. I appreciated learning about the roots of Yoga. The schedule was packed, just how I wanted it to fully engage in the experience. The quality of the lessons was exceptional, and the teachers’ dedication was evident, which was most important to me. Thank you very much.

The hotel resort was clean, and I loved my spacious room. The rooftop was the perfect spot for meditation, and the small gym was a nice bonus to have!

I recently finished my 200hr Kundalini YTT with World Peace Yoga School. The teachers at this school were amazing and made my experience unforgettable. Bali was gorgeous, but it was the teachers who really made the experience great. They taught with passion and created a safe environment for all of us to improve. I am so thankful for this incredible experience and for GuruJi and HariPriya.

I just returned from completing my 200-hour Kundalini Teacher training, and I can’t even begin to describe how amazing the experience was! It was truly one of the best experiences of my life, and I’m already excited to go back for more. The teachers were incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and clear in their teachings.

The kitchen staff served three delicious and healthy meals a day, and I didn’t get sick once during my time there. The front desk staff were always available to help with any questions or concerns, and they always had a solution. Everyone at the training was kind, caring, respectful, and friendly. It was all just as it should be – nothing not to like!

The construction of the rooftop made the yoga hall dirty and uncomfortable, with fluctuating temperatures that left us too hot or too cold. Two days of rain left me with a cold. The props were dirty and smelly, creating a negative atmosphere at the school. The energy felt commercial and not welcoming, which ultimately led me to not finish the course. The frustrations were shared among everyone in my group. Despite some good lessons and a nice group, the overall experience was not as pleasant as we had hoped. The location and view were the only positives at this school.

I regretted staying at the school. I would recommend paying just for the course and staying/eating elsewhere. It would have made my experience better and saved me money. I ended up eating out most of the time because previous students had gotten really sick from the food and water there. The food wasn’t very balanced, just a lot of carbs and oil. The taste was good, but not very nutritious in my opinion. The accommodation was very basic, the bed was even harder than the wood bed I had during Vipassana retreat, haha. If I had stayed at a hostel, I would have had a cleaner space, no 10:30pm curfew, a comfy bed, and probably less night terrors. The teachers at the school are all amazing. I had Dr. Lata Ji, Sunil Ji, Kanna Ji, Dr. Himanshu Ji, Naveen Ji, and a special shoutout to Siddha Ji. Every teacher I had was extremely knowledgeable and explained things in a way that really opened my mind. I felt privileged to be taught by such highly educated and intelligent individuals every day.

There are no tools to clean so it’s impossible to mop or wash the sink in the room. The food was okay the first two weeks, but then they just kept feeding us the same things every day and I started eating out every day instead. I thought I was going to get fitter, but I ended up getting fatter :/ I really liked the group of people that came to get certified with me, we all got along perfectly. It was a fun, dynamic, and busy day.

I loved the ashtanga classes with Ashu and Himanshu’s anatomy classes, they were my favorites. I also really enjoyed the philosophy class a lot 🙂

It feels like I’m sitting in an actual classroom with the teachers right in front of me. Any questions or confusion get addressed right away, just like in a regular classroom setting. The facilities at the school are terrible. Mold is growing out of the walls, cleanliness is non-existent, the food is carb-heavy, and the kitchen is gross. There were 4 people in our class, with 3 of us living on campus, and we all got very sick. The female dorm doesn’t have hot water and experiences water outages daily. The staff is impolite and glued to their phones, even during kirtan. We enrolled in a 300-hour program but barely received half the required hours for a certificate. This school is a scam and doesn’t meet Yoga Alliance standards.

BookYogaRetreats helped us try to get a refund. We ended up receiving a small refund from the school and a refund of the commission from BookYogaRetreats. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The location is central and accessible, with good anatomy, hatha, and alignment classes taught by knowledgeable teachers.

I wasn’t really disappointed at all. I knew the ashram wouldn’t be a 5-star luxury hotel, but it had everything I needed. When I went in December, it was a bit colder than I expected, but I had enough blankets to stay cozy. The hot water for showers didn’t last long, but that was fine because the cold water helped wake me up in the mornings!

I did the 200-hour Kundalini yoga teacher training and everything exceeded my expectations. The staff and teachers were incredible – so knowledgeable and friendly. They really felt like family. Even though it was an intensive course (waking up at 5am and going to bed at 10pm), I would highly recommend it for anyone interested in the spiritual side of yoga.

There were plenty of opportunities to practice meditation, asanas, and more with the group. We also had enough free time to explore the town and have some fun!

We only spent 10 minutes on teaching methodology. Honestly, I thought we would spend more time on how to build a sequence, the right postures during practice, and what we need to do before or after practice. I think you should start implementing this from the 2nd week and ask students to practice for 30 minutes daily and give constructive feedback. I enrolled in this course to become a teacher, not just to practice yoga.

As a student, I expect constructive feedback from teachers, not just a generic ‘very good’. I want to know my progress and areas for improvement. Throughout the course, we asked for feedback but always received the same response of ‘very good’.

As a yogi, I expected bland food, not heavy meals with excessive spices. I ate boiled carrots and potatoes for a month, craving food that nourishes my body, mind, and soul.

The manual should include adjustments for each pose and detailed information on anatomy, specifically muscles and their functions. It should also cover modifications for those with specific conditions like herniated disks.

This experience helped me look deeper into myself, changing my perspective on life and the world. I learned valuable breathing techniques to improve my daily life. I gained new skills and knowledge that I look forward to sharing with others.

I appreciated the diverse group of students and teachers, and the ability to coexist peacefully in shared spaces. It was a transformative experience where I felt accepted for who I am. Thank you to all the teachers for sharing their wisdom and time with us.

The food is absolutely amazing and cooked with love. It can get a bit repetitive, but it’s still really good.
The teachers were fantastic! Every single one of them was so inspiring and knowledgeable, and they really seemed genuinely interested in our learning.
The subjects were super interesting and taught very well.
The environment is perfect for diving into yourself and sharing your spiritual journey with like-minded people.
Rishikesh is a beautiful city, and so are the people there (make sure to leave some days after the course to explore the city).
I would definitely recommend this experience!

We arrived during the monsoon season and it was constantly raining. Some rooms got a bit moldy with no proper ventilation, but others were in perfect condition. It didn’t really affect our overall experience though. It’s just part of accepting the present and adapting to it. It leads to self-discovery and a beautiful inner journey.

The accommodation was incredibly dirty and noisy, making it hard for me to sleep with all the motorbike noise and animal footsteps. And our teacher appeared quite young. He was a nice guy, but not very professional as a yoga instructor. I met some wonderful people from all over the country during our time there. Doing yoga classes, going on excursions, and eating together was an amazing experience thanks to them. Without them, this retreat would have been a disaster.

The course timetable and what was included were falsely advertised, with fewer teaching hours than expected and absolutely no teaching methodology covered. This led to an overall feeling of disappointment and tension, not at all the yogic vibe we were looking for. I would not recommend it, as I would describe it more as a Yin intensive rather than a teacher training. However, the location, accommodation, and food were good, and some staff members were very knowledgeable. They listened to complaints and tried to make adjustments.

I loved everything about my experience at World Peace Yoga School in Rishikesh. Even though the living conditions were a bit different from what I’m used to, I felt safe the entire time. Some students complained about the food, but you can’t please everyone. Personally, I had no complaints. And if you’re picky, there’s always the option to go to a local cafe or restaurant for a meal that costs less than $4 USD.

I can’t fully express how wonderful and fulfilling it was to take the 200hr yoga certification course at World Peace Yoga School. From the moment I arrived, I felt at home. The owner Guru Vishnu greeted us at the entrance and a volunteer helped with our luggage and showed us to our rooms. Everyone there is so kind and welcoming, it’s like making instant friends.

I deepened my yoga beliefs and knowledge in ways I never thought possible. I had some reservations about taking the course in Rishikesh instead of in the city, but I’m so grateful I did. The teachers are amazing and full of knowledge. Classes start early and go late, six days a week, challenging you physically and mentally. It’s tough, but worth it in the end.

There are so many wonderful people and experiences at WPYS, I could go on and on. I can’t wait to come back and complete my 300hr course in the next year or two, applying all I’ve learned at home. Cheers to the amazing journey ahead!

The food here at school is really redundant. Sometimes it’s too spicy for me, but the breakfasts are really good! I love the high quality of teaching and the fun, being so close to the Ganges and inviting cafes. The proximity to the locals in Rishikesh and the energy of this beautiful place are amazing.

The Retreat took place at a construction site, but it’s going to be a beautiful place soon. There will be a big dining area, lovely rooms, and a bright yoga space on the roof. They are also working on facilities for massages.

Throughout the 6-day Yoga Retreat, everyone was helpful, friendly, and truly cared about us. They made sure we had everything we wanted and even took us on some fun adventures. The daily program included different yoga classes like Hatha, Pranayam, Ashtanga Vinyasa, and Meditation, as well as a daily excursion.

I felt like I had a little family with me the whole time.

We didn’t expect the bedding to be 5-star since we picked an ashram for our stay. But it was an easy fix – we just asked for more blankets.

I wish we had more time in Rishikesh! Our schedule was packed, making it tough to see everything. The classes were too amazing to skip. I suggest adding a couple more days to your trip to fit it all in! The people, the town, and the activities were all fantastic. We were pleasantly surprised to arrive during the international yoga festival and Holi festival. It was truly magical!

During the retreat, there was a bit of a hiccup with the accommodation and location switch for the different sessions. Our yoga, Pranayama & meditation teacher Rajiv did a great job giving us a brief overview of each technique and then leading us in extensive practice every morning and afternoon.

The excursions during the day gave us a peek into the beauty of the Himalayas, Ganges, and spiritual sites.

A big thank you to Vishnu Ji, the founder of the world peace yoga school, whose high spiritual energy and warm heart are felt in everything he does at the retreat. Om!

I was expecting to have different teachers, but we ended up with the same ones. We thought we would be staying at the Tapovan Resort, but we were taken somewhere else instead. The accommodations were okay, but not worth the amount we paid. It was hard to communicate with the staff because they didn’t speak English, and it felt like they were laughing and talking about us. We had to wake them up at 7:30 a.m., and it was strange to find them sleeping on the floor of the dining room.

The staff who took us to the Beatles Ashram had never been there before. She was nice, but had to ask for directions and didn’t know who the Beatles were, haha! Most days, we did our own thing because everything seemed disorganized and frustrating. I wouldn’t come back here. The yoga teacher was pretty good, though. He was nice.

The food wasn’t fresh or detox-friendly. They didn’t have any juices or tea.

No one bothered to clean our room the entire time we were there.

One of the yoga rooms had a monkey pee on the floor, but they still made us have class there even though there wasn’t enough mats.

The trips weren’t organized at all.

We had to keep asking for our massages, and when we finally got them, they only lasted 30 minutes. The rooms were also dirty.

The classes in the retreat package were pretty basic and some of them overlapped.

On the bright side, the kitchen staff were very friendly.

The rooms felt freezing. When I inquired about the heat, they instructed me to insert the dusty wires into the hole in my room.
My sheets looked old and dirty. The room gave off a depressing vibe, and it was so cold that I couldn’t even take a shower because my towel stayed wet and I would freeze after stepping out. I ended up showering at my friend’s place just around the corner!
I only got to go on 3 excursions during my 5-day stay, when I should have had 5. After chatting with fellow travelers, I learned that they paid a lot less and were much happier with their accommodations.
The staff didn’t offer any advice or help when it came to planning trips. I was the only person on the retreat that week, and I felt like more of a bother than a guest.
It seemed like they just took my money at check-in and that was the end of it. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again or recommend it to others.
However, my instructor was very friendly and I enjoyed his teaching and the outings. It’s strange that he isn’t mentioned in the information provided.
On the bright side, my massage was absolutely delightful.

I arrived at my destination on Dec 25 as planned, but my room was not ready because of plumbing issues. They moved me to a less-than-ideal place across the street. Only after I voiced my concerns about the unfair situation did they move me to a nicer place. My room was still not ready for another two nights, and at that point, it was too late to switch rooms, so I decided to leave the retreat and take yoga classes at other studios nearby.

The yoga instructor at the retreat was not good at all. He seemed more like he was training teachers rather than leading a retreat. He just kept repeating himself. WPY was unable to fulfill what I signed up for, and they didn’t even return my deposit, even though they were the ones who broke the contract.

I felt ripped off by the whole experience and won’t be coming back or recommending the school. On the bright side, the food on Christmas night was delicious and plentiful.

Luckily, someone from the retreat came to pick me up from the bus station and even took me to the market to buy some thermals since it was so cold. The driver and his partner were incredibly kind, sweet, and considerate.

The trip to the Shiv temple, where we could see the Himalayas, was amazing.

During a 15-day stay, half of the price covers classes and food, while the other half goes toward accommodation. For 600 euros a month, you’ll get a shared room with a bathroom. The bathroom is really dirty (even though it might seem clean for India), the sheets and towels were all very stained, and the blankets and pillows smelled really bad. Plastic littered the garden beds, along with old forgotten laundry. Let’s not even talk about the dishwashing area, which was frankly disgusting and gross (the dishes drained into old liquid) and the osmosis water filter was spewing yellow water (do not drink the water!!). Basically, for a price close to European rates, you’ll get a dump… Alternatively, you can find accommodation of the same quality for three times less in the immediate vicinity. If you still plan to stay there, don’t forget your towel and pillow if you have room! Quality teaching, very interesting classes.

    3. The food was perfect, thanks to the guys in the kitchen. It was fresh, light yet nutritious, and always tasty. They even asked us for our preferences.
    4. The location is very nice, with many small shops and places to eat and enjoy Rishikesh. The Beatles ashram is just a 2.5km walking distance away.

I didn’t like the living conditions of the staff. It really needs to change. They should be paid much better (considering the price we pay to go there) and get rooms with fewer people and AC. The energy of the people you meet in a yoga retreat is absolutely beautiful. I learned a lot from all my classmates and we were constantly sharing questions and very nice energy. I changed both physically and mentally, becoming much more flexible and learning how to live in the present, which I love.

India is not the cleanest or most organized country, but with a good attitude, you will enjoy it a lot. To be honest, it all depends on you. It is an entire experience that I highly recommend. Thanks very much for this experience.

When they deliver the rooms, several people complain that there are no bed linen or towels. The quarters look like the pictures, but they are not clean and don’t have towels or sheets. When you ask the staff, they are very nice, but everything is grimy and well-used. Everyone has to buy their own toilet paper. When you wash your clothes, they take forever to dry because there is nowhere to hang them, and it’s uncomfortable to have that mess in the room. If these details were fixed, the stay would be wonderful.

The teachers are great, and it’s lovely to share with classmates from all over the world. The school’s location is good. The entire school staff is very friendly in general.

However, many students experienced diarrhea while staying here, unsure if it’s due to India’s climate or a general issue with the food. The teachers teach enthusiastically and embody a yogi lifestyle and mindset. They have created a positive environment that encourages students to exchange thoughts and ideas. I have learned a great deal about myself and life during my time here. Additionally, the teachers go beyond the official 200-hour requirement, teaching us about Ayurveda (which I love!), yoga therapy (part of the 300-hour course), and more.

I had to adjust to walking on Laxman Juhla bridge with scooters, monkeys, cows, and people in the rush hour on the first day. But it’s all part of the experience and I’m already missing it now that I’m back! After getting used to the chaos on the streets, I finally felt the magic of Rishikesh. The power of the river Ganga is tangible on the beaches, and you can feel its sound and energy, making you understand why it’s considered divine. In the evening, the mountains surround Rishikesh like black clouds against the grey sky, while the town echoes with prayers from the ashrams. The people here are amazing; they’re not attached to money, welcoming, and very spiritual. The yoga teachers are incredible, well-prepared, and able to help you correct your postures in a very professional way. I can’t wait to go back.
