Program

Get your day started with yoga classes first. After that, enjoy a nourishing breakfast at our Alkaline buffet (extra charge of 40,000 IDR for all-you-can-eat) and begin your Balinese adventure. You can choose from various activities such as reading books, swimming in the pool or the sea, surfing, renting a bike to explore, or simply immersing yourself in the local surroundings. Make your vacation in Bali a memorable one by doing whatever you like. Our staff is more than happy to provide any services that suit your needs.

Now let’s talk about the yoga styles included in our holiday package. We offer up to ten daily yoga classes, each focusing on a different style:

– Aerial yoga: Experience traditional mat yoga combined with postures suspended in soft fabric hammocks. It allows you to explore floating and fluid movements, creating space in your body without compressing your joints and spine. Plus, you can take photos and videos during this session!

– Ashtanga: Join our guided class that follows the sequence of asanas strictly in the tradition of Sri K Pattabhi Jois. This dynamic practice includes deep relaxation at the end.

– Beginner: Perfect for anyone starting their yoga journey. Learn the fundamentals and receive detailed instructions in the poses.

– Chakra flow: Enjoy a chakra-based Vinyasa practice with a different theme each week. It ends with Pranayama and Meditation.

– Chakra sodhana meditation: Purify your chakras through concentration, visualization, and mantra repetition.

– Chest and hip opening: Counteract the effects of our modern sitting lifestyle by opening and loosening the joints and muscles around the hips and chest. This class helps decrease back pain and shoulder tightness.

– Creative Vinyasa: Take your Vinyasa flow to the next level by branching out from the usual sequence. Let the rhythm of your breath guide your body in a joyful and freeing dance.

– Core strength Vinyasa: Engage your entire body in a deep, vigorous, and energizing Vinyasa practice. Strengthen your core, improve flexibility, alignment, and overall awareness.

– Detox flow: Release toxins and leave feeling cleansed, glowing, and rejuvenated.

– Gentle flow: Experience a balance of gentle strengthening and mobilizing poses, linked by conscious breath. This class is slow-paced and well-supported.

– Flyhigh yoga: Embark on a mixed practice of aerial and Iyengar yoga. Defy gravity and discover the beauty of being upside-down.

– Hatha: Practice slow-paced poses that strengthen and loosen your body. Increase concentration and prepare for seated meditation.

– Handstand for all levels: Learn handstand preparation, build confidence, and maintain balance while upside down. From wrist exercises to body positions, this class covers it all.

– Power yoga: Engage in a fitness-based Vinyasa practice that builds internal heat, stamina, strength, flexibility, and reduces stress.

– Restorative: Completely relax and align your breath and body. Experience mental stillness or gentle movements for extended periods. Restore your body and mind.

– Tantric yoga: Explore a guided, intuitive practice using movement, breath, and sound. Awaken your life force and release emotional and energetic blocks.

– Vinyasa: Connect movement and breath in a dynamic sequence of poses. Strengthen and open your body and mind.

– Yin yang: Enjoy an energizing and uplifting practice that transitions into a deep and peaceful one. Feel rejuvenated and balanced for the rest of the day.

– Yin: Delve into a slow-paced practice where poses are held for 5+ minutes. Target your connective tissues, ligaments, organs, immune system, bones, and joints. Experience the benefits of Hatha Yoga, meridians in Chinese medicine, Taoist philosophy, and Buddhist meditation techniques.

– Yin sound healing: Immerse yourself in an hour of meditative yin yoga stretches while listening to the vibrational tones of singing bowls. Experience the healing effects of these energy medicine tools.

– Yin restorative: Combine the slow-paced styles of yin and restorative yoga for a truly relaxing and stress-free experience.

With such a variety of yoga styles to choose from, you’re sure to find the perfect class for your practice. Enjoy your yoga holiday at Serenity Eco-Guesthouse and Yoga!

Serenity is a fantastic place to stay. It’s well located and offers incredibly healthy and delicious food. The staff are all so friendly and nice, you always feel welcomed. Even when I got sick, they took care of me and supported me in getting back well very soon. The variety of Yoga classes they offer is huge, and every one I joined was great.
Thanks for everything. I had a great time and will definitely come back. I absolutely recommend it:)

I started off in a single bedroom with just a fan, and it was way too hot. My “window” overlooked the shared indoor bathroom, so there was no way to get some fresh air.
After enduring 9 sweltering nights, a room with air conditioning became available, so I switched. There were construction works going on right behind the wall of my room all day, until the end of my stay there. I couldn’t enjoy my room (and the AC) during the day.. the noise from the machines was unbearable. I had to shower with earplugs. And the workers were constantly walking through my small terrace, one chair was even chained up to hang a sign “Thank you for understanding the inconvenience caused by the construction”. Other things bothered me like the springs in the mattress, low water pressure in the shower, hot water only lasting for 3 minutes, worn-out bath towels that didn’t smell fresh at all, the flooding in my room every morning after a night of rain… Instead of fixing the issue, I was told via email to put all my belongings higher up.. If I had to do it again, I would only take the yoga pass and stay elsewhere.
PS: I was in the Yang room. The pool is small but very peaceful and surrounded by greenery.
The yoga classes were really good. It’s great to have a pass for the month and decide day by day which classes to attend.
The staff is extremely kind and helpful. From the reception, to the restaurant, security, gardeners, housekeeping,… thank you to all of them for everything!
Very close to the beach, on a rather quiet street. Very pleasant.

Honestly, nothing at all. Serenity is a truly magical place. A peaceful, gentle, and bright atmosphere fills the air. From the employees to the residents, everyone exudes a true sense of kindness.

I had an absolutely blissful week there. The yoga classes were interesting, spiritual, and challenging, with teachers who genuinely cared about everyone’s well-being, creating a real connection and interaction. The variety and depth of the classes ensured that everyone could find something to enjoy.

Breakfast was delicious and different every morning, with fresh and high-quality products. I also dined at the Guest House, and the cuisine was truly top-notch.

The garden is a paradise, despite being close to the bustling life of Canggu. It feels like being in a jungle, with lush foliage, flowers, and local fauna like squirrels, birds, and little geckos.

The spa services were of impeccable quality, with attentive staff who were incredibly gentle and kind.

Moreover, the Guest House is perfectly located; just a stone’s throw away from the beach and fabulous sunsets, as well as close to all necessary shops and services.

I felt at home in Serenity. I will definitely be going back. Thank you all so much for this wonderful stay.

I loved everything there! The yoga classes are the best in the world. My favorite was Hatha classes with teacher Qino! Qino always gave clear instructions, made adjustments, and offered options for all levels. The yoga shalas and rooms are very clean. The food in the café is tasty and fresh. Everyone who works there is friendly. There’s always a fun and friendly atmosphere, so you’ll never feel bored. I will definitely return there again! I will miss you guys!

I didn’t like that they allow people to join the class after it started. It’s really annoying when latecomers try to squeeze in between mats, disrupting the flow. I find it disrespectful towards the yoga instructors and everyone in the class. Most places I’ve been to don’t allow it. It should be a rule. But overall, I really enjoyed being there. The yoga instructors, like Diaz, Qino, and Yogi, were amazing. Their energy was fantastic, and they made the classes challenging but fun. The staff was also friendly, and the place was beautiful with lots of plants around the pool.

It really felt like a second home. Plus, the food at Alkaline restaurant on the guesthouse premises was a big bonus. In Canggu, you have a ton of options, but I found the absolute best one! The staff here is incredible – they’re super friendly and always giving it their all. They clean the accommodations daily and even make the beds and provide fresh towels in the dorms. And let’s talk about the yoga classes – they’re fantastic! The instructors are such gifted individuals. Plus, the whole place has this awesome community vibe, especially with the pool and lounge chairs. I practically stayed here the whole time, only leaving to hit the beach, which is just a short walk away. I’m definitely coming back here without a doubt.

It truly has such a calming energy. The food is incredibly nourishing, tasty, and reasonably priced. The yoga classes offer a wide variety and the instructors are all highly skilled and the staff is just delightful. The noise coming from the nearby bars isn’t really a problem after all! The warmth, simplicity, and kindness that this place exudes.

It’s a haven of peace for me.
I preferred the dorms for more social interactions.
The vegan meals, permaculture, staff, and the property itself – I walked around barefoot the whole time.
The proximity to the beach and shops.

The yoga teachers are very professional and knowledgeable, especially Kemie with whom I took many inversion classes – they’re all insightful.
    The yoga studios.
The spa and wellness area for massages.
The pool, fruit trees, and medicinal plants.

Thank you to the whole team, see you soon!

I wasn’t a huge fan of Canggu, but that’s not the center’s fault. If you value privacy, make sure to book a room with a private bathroom. The option of single rooms without a bathroom is cheaper, but they are so small that it made me feel claustrophobic. The whole staff is incredibly friendly and they make an impressive effort to promote sustainability, support local businesses, and offer organic food. The restaurant and yoga classes are absolutely amazing. The dorms are spacious and great if you enjoy this type of traveling. Overall, I had a really nice experience, especially if you’re into surfing because the spot is so close.

We slept in a 6-bed dorm. On the last evening/night, a cat sneaked around our bed and even got partially on it. As someone who is not a fan of cats or even allergic to cat hair, I strongly request keeping cats away from the premises. The atmosphere was amazing. Everything was very clean. Some places, like the bathrooms and yogi dorm, might need a thorough floor cleaning and some repairs for things like showers. At Serenity, the staff is incredible – always wearing smiles, giving warm welcomes, and being eager to assist. The yoga classes there are fantastic, with highly skilled teachers. You’ll find delicious food at Alkaline, their restaurant. Trust me, the chocolate cake there is the absolute best. The overall atmosphere is amazing, and many people who initially planned for a short stay ended up extending their time or returning again because they loved it so much. The noise around the premises is the only downside, but it’s not really their fault. However, we need to mention it. There’s a lot of construction going on, so some classes can get noisy. Also, at Seabreeze, there are roosters right outside. If you’re a light sleeper, it’s better to choose to sleep at Serenity itself. It’s a bit quieter there. The only thing that could have been slightly better were the room and bathroom, but considering the price, it was still pretty good. Serenity as a whole is a magical place. Just walking around is so serene, even though you’re in the busy Canggu area. It’s located right near the beach, which is a bonus. One of the highlights for me was their focus on permaculture and healing herbal medicines. And let’s not forget the Alkaline cafe, where I had the best food of my trip! We spent a whole month at Serenity and we really wished we could have stayed longer. We tried out nearly all of the yoga classes and we absolutely loved every single teacher and the variety of practices they offered. The pool area is perfect for chilling out and all the resort staff were incredibly nice and always attentive to our needs.

The only downside to Serenity is that some of the private rooms were not very comfortable. We tried out four different rooms and all the mattresses were uncomfortable, to the point where we would wake up in the middle of the night with back pain. Avoid the Tarzan room at all costs! It doesn’t have AC or much privacy, plus it tends to get smoky from nearby fires. Even the resort staff sometimes smoked us out in the morning while boiling water for the restaurant. We let them know and they stopped, which was really accommodating of them, but other people in the neighborhood burn garbage and rice fields, so it’s just something to be aware of and avoid.

The Alkaline restaurant at the resort is pretty good. The prices are reasonable and the food is really healthy. The breakfast buffet is decent, but if you’re willing to spend just a bit more money, you can find even better food nearby.

Overall, it was an amazing experience and we would definitely come back.

The wifi is not very good, so you can really get into the zen mode. The towels don’t smell fresh and could use a better wash. Great! I felt good right when I walked in. The reception was amazing, they immediately gave me a tour of the place and took their time with me. The atmosphere is very calming. The bed is comfortable and screened off with curtains and a mosquito net. The room is also quite dark, even though it’s only halfway outside! They also make your bed neatly every morning. The breakfast buffet is fantastic! So many different vegan options to try: from homemade bread slices and peanut butter/jam to fruit, a different special each time (pumpkin, chickpea soup), and coffee, tea, milk, and juices! The homemade peanut butter and jam are so delicious!!! The on-site restaurant also has tasty vegan options at a good price.
I stayed in a shared room with 3 yoga classes. There are about 10 yoga classes to choose from. The instructors are amazing and considerate of beginners. I really enjoyed Yogi’s Hatha class. Definitely try the massages too! Best neck/back massage ever, Tini really worked on my stiff neck.

Other teachers are good too, but they don’t adjust students. I went to Kemi’s class to learn inversion, but she doesn’t really teach it step by step. Instead, she just told me, “If you’re not gonna try, you won’t be able to do it.” But I can’t do inversions without someone assisting me, or I might injure myself. The yoga classes with Kartana, Mano, Quino, and Yogi are amazing. These teachers not only adjust students but also have a genuine passion for transferring their knowledge.

    Here’s the rewritten version:

So, here’s the thing about Canggu: you gotta do some research before going there (I learned this the hard way). It’s not exactly what I expected. It’s been taken over by Westerners and springbreakers. Apparently, most of the businesses are now owned by foreigners, according to the Balinese people I met. But hey, if you’re into partying and seeing lots of surfers, then Canggu is the place to be.

Now, let me tell you about the room I booked. It was pretty small – just one single bed, no desk, and a dresser (not too bad, I guess). There were two windows – one facing the bathroom/shower area, and the other facing the alley where the smokers hung out (even though it’s supposed to be a smoking-free place). It was kind of inconvenient because I could hear people coming in and out of the bathroom/shower, and sometimes the smell of cigarettes would waft into my room.

And don’t even get me started on the wifi. It didn’t reach my room at all, which meant no video calls and forget about streaming anything online. It was like living in the Stone Age. Other rooms seemed to have no wifi problems though, which made it even more frustrating.

Let’s just say, it wasn’t exactly the ideal setup for a peaceful 30-day yoga retreat.

After a couple of nights, I went to the staff and asked if I could switch rooms (I saw someone leaving across the hall), or pay more for an upgrade. But sadly, they told me they were completely booked and their system couldn’t do room swaps.

So, I ended up canceling my stay after the first week and leaving Canggu. But here’s the thing, the yoga classes were absolutely fantastic. The teachers were incredibly talented, knowledgeable, and great at communicating. I highly recommend them!

And the staff at the center? They were all wonderful and brought such a positive energy to the place. So, big shout out to them!

Oh, and the pool area was beautiful. There weren’t many spots to sunbathe, but the pool itself was usually not crowded. Most people just hung around, soaking up the sun.

And let me tell you about the spa center next to the pool. I treated myself to a Balinese massage and it was amazing. The prices were pretty good too, especially considering the expertise and the location.

Overall, I would definitely do yoga again at this facility. Unfortunately, my accommodation experience wasn’t the greatest.

Canggu didn’t meet my expectations, but it’s alright. It’s not important though, as I spent most of the day at Serenity.
Oh, and let me tell you about my room – we could hear every single noise from the neighboring rooms, which was really annoying. On the bright side, the yoga teachers are absolutely fantastic. They cover a wide range of topics and I learned so much, although it took quite a bit of effort. And the massages, the staff, and the food? They are all amazing. I had a genuinely enjoyable experience at this place! I highly recommend it.

The dogs they have can get a bit noisy at night, but I could easily go back to sleep with earplugs so it wasn’t a big problem! Serenity has this magical power to help you relax and escape the hustle and bustle of Canggu. It creates such a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by lush greenery. The teachers are awesome and each one brings something unique to the table. There’s a good variety of classes for you to choose from every day. My room was simple but it was cleaned every day and I felt really comfortable. The showers and toilets were also kept clean regularly and the staff were all super positive and helpful. The breakfast in the morning was so good with fresh fruit and homemade breads, and there was always a different hot dish each day like Balinese porridge, scrambled tofu, or banana pancakes. Everything was absolutely delicious! The food for lunch and dinner from the kitchen was also amazing. It was always so fresh and healthy. I stumbled upon this place and I’ll definitely come back again on my next trip to Bali.

It was my first time in Bali and overall, I was mostly disappointed by the town of Canggu. It’s very touristy and has a superficial “Instagram” vibe. Basically, everything is made for tourists, so if you’re looking for authenticity, I wouldn’t recommend this town. Pollution is also very present, which can make the sea dirty on rainy days.

As for Serenity, the dorm I stayed in was clean (cleaned every day) and decent, although there were insects and crabs, which was a bit unpleasant. Once we mentioned it to the staff, they did everything they could to fix the issue.

The big downside for me was health. From January to March 2020, many people got sick, including myself. We thought a bacteria (maybe in the water) was causing the fever, diarrhea, and vomiting we experienced. However, we don’t know for sure, but it was difficult for many other tourists staying at Serenity.

However, I don’t blame the staff at Serenity, who also must have been bothered by this problem. For my first solo trip, I decided to go to a center offering yoga classes so that I wouldn’t be alone in a new country and could deepen my practice. I am not disappointed with choosing Serenity! The place itself is gorgeous with a beautiful pool, the staff is always smiling and attentive, the teachers are excellent, and the vegan food is pretty good. The people I met there were all in a positive and open mood, which made it easy to make connections and have unforgettable moments. A big thank you for the three Balinese massages included with the one-month package.

I recommend Serenity, even just for the kindness of the teachers and staff. I would go back, despite Canggu not being a favorite town.

Sometimes, the toilet seats in the shared bathroom facilities would be unclean, but that’s only because some guests aren’t considerate. One of the instructors would take the tokens at the beginning of class and not respect my request to have some privacy for my practice, even though I had set up my card accordingly. The accommodations here are simple and eco-friendly. The staff is incredibly helpful and kind! And let me tell you, the vegan breakfast buffet is absolutely amazing. The pool area is so peaceful and tranquil. The yoga classes are pretty good too. Most of the instructors have a more modern approach to yoga, focusing more on movement. But there are some instructors who incorporate a traditional practice into their movement-based classes. So there’s really something for everyone here! Plus, it’s super close to an incredible surf spot at the beach, and there are great restaurants within walking distance. I would definitely recommend it!

We couldn’t find a key to use in the dorm room. The bathrooms weren’t very clean. The beds were uncomfortably hard. Be prepared for centipedes crawling on you at night if you’re on the bottom bunk. The area here is so damp that you never feel clean or dry unless you leave the dorm. Unfortunately, the food made people sick, so I didn’t have breakfast there and ate somewhere else. Maybe it was just my bad luck with the dorm room, while others seemed to be fine. On the bright side, the yoga classes were a lot of fun, and the teachers were extremely enjoyable and helpful, especially for beginners. The pool is great. The location is good as it’s just a 10-minute walk to the main area, which makes it hidden and quiet. The staff are really nice and accommodating. When we had no hot water, they fixed it right away as soon as I mentioned it. It’s a fantastic place to meet people, and the staff and security are available 24/7.

I left the guesthouse slightly disheartened because someone stole one of my treasured bracelets, as well as my towel and bikini that were drying on a rack. The staff did all they could by taking down my name and room number in case they turned up, and I’m really grateful for that. But I still can’t help feeling a bit sour about it. On the bright side, the staff were very friendly and they offered a 2-minute shuttle from S1 to S2, so I didn’t have to walk 10 minutes in the dark. The food was amazing and such a good deal. The pool was absolutely perfect, and the yoga classes were enjoyable, even though I ended up with aches everywhere afterwards haha! Thank you, Serenity, for giving me an incredible holiday.

In Serenity 2, the roosters were really loud (louder than expected) and the bathroom smelled bad at times. They were also doing construction outside the main building, which was noisy as well. In my opinion, the dorms here in Serenity 1 were not as nicely decorated as in Serenity 2. However, the staff was very nice, helpful, and accommodating. The food was good, the yoga classes were mostly great, and the location was awesome. Plus, the pool was really nice and I felt comfortable overall 🙂

Although there is no air conditioning in Serenity 2, each bed has its own fan. And the best part is that mosquito nets are attached to all the beds in both buildings – which is a huge positive.

The restaurant at Piscine Sale is not recommended! The banana bread tastes like playdough, and if you don’t want to get sick for four days like me and many others at the hotel (oddly enough, all at the same time), avoid the restaurant and eat outside for much better and cheaper options.

The breakfast was tasteless, even though we knew it was vegan. When they ran out of pineapple jam and we asked for more because we didn’t like papaya, they refused, saying they had to finish the papaya first.

We didn’t eat lunch or dinner at the restaurant, so when we asked for two simple spoons, they couldn’t lend them to us. We paid 120 euros for the week for the room and yoga, but unlimited yoga for a week costs only 60 euros. We felt that the room (or rather the bed in a dormitory) was not worth 10 euros per night.

The staff was not very welcoming, and there weren’t really any nice places to relax if you didn’t consume at the restaurant. It’s a shame because we were excited to try the yoga experience in Canggu.

The aerial yoga class was great, and we appreciated the proximity of the location. However, the cleanliness of the room and common areas was lacking.

Breakfasts at the resort were boring and lacked imagination. They served the same thing every day and the quality was low. They really need to improve their hygiene standards. Also, having stinky dogs in the restaurant is definitely not a good idea! On a positive note, the yoga teaching and facilities at the resort are excellent. The accommodation was fair for the price and the food was okay, but unfortunately, the quality of breakfasts went downhill over time. The breakfast they served was vegan and absolutely delicious. I also had the chance to try their vegan cakes at the restaurant, and they were all fantastic. What I really admired about the place was how everything seemed to align perfectly with their focus on food, yoga, spa, and permaculture. They even pay attention to the chemicals they use in the pool! One of the highlights of my stay was joining an ecstatic dance session led by Deva, which was absolutely awesome. The only thing they need to improve is their sound system. But my favorite experience was definitely the aerial yoga class. I highly recommend trying it at least once! At first, I loved the food, but it eventually became a bit repetitive with many dishes being the same. I was also trying to avoid salads because they were washed with general water, but most of their dishes contained raw ingredients. I’m not sure what their vegan alkaline diet really includes, but I would have liked more dishes made with legumes. We did have moong beans one morning for breakfast, but it was an odd sweet porridge. Overall, breakfast was alright, but the fresh juices were more like purees than actual juice. I thought there was a jacuzzi at one end of the pool, but I couldn’t figure out how to turn it on. While our room was in the center of the complex, some of the accommodations were quite far and the road leading to them was often busy. I wouldn’t want to stay at either of those places, even if they offer some sort of shuttle service. Despite these concerns, I would definitely return. Booking unlimited yoga classes might have been overly ambitious, but we managed to participate in at least one class each day, sometimes two. There were so many different types and skill levels to choose from, and classes were available from 7am to 7pm. All the instructors were fantastic and the facilities were top-notch. Actually, all the staff members were incredibly helpful and seemed to go above and beyond their job duties. The place was always kept very clean and offered a peaceful environment to unwind in. The pool was wonderful for relaxation and our ensuite room was conveniently located right by the pool. The spa treatments were also exceptional and reasonably priced. Plus, the beach was just a short walk away.

The room is very noisy because the door is a sliding door that doesn’t completely close. The beds are very comfortable though! The AC is very quiet and the pool is very clean.

The breakfast is good but mostly sweet. They always have sliced fruit, bread with sweet spreads, and a warm dish (baked banana or porridge).

I’m not sure what caused it, but every single person who stayed in the dorm, including myself and others in different rooms, experienced a terrible 24-hour sickness with vomiting and diarrhea. It could have been the breakfast we all ate, or maybe something related to sanitation or water quality. It’s also possible it was a flu that spreads easily in that place due to the constant flow of people. Either way, every person in the dorm and even some in other rooms fell ill during my 10-day stay.

I stayed at the Serene rooms, which were conveniently located near the main building. The rooms were great, except for the early morning wake-up calls from the roosters and dogs right outside my window. It wasn’t my favorite, as I couldn’t block out the noisy racket no matter how hard I tried with earplugs or headphones. Despite that, it didn’t ruin my experience, although I didn’t feel as rested. The setting and concept of the place are fantastic, and the vibes and staff are great.

Kartana was more in line with my yoga style, and I appreciated how he corrected my poses. Diaz is an incredible yoga instructor, but unfortunately, I wasn’t at his level, so I would have preferred more physical corrections rather than just demonstrating the poses. The staff were amazing, with only one odd experience when the office manager dismissed me and directed me to another staff member when I approached him at the desk.

And on top of that, on weekends, there’s a parade of surfer scooters, guaranteeing sleepless nights… The nearby beach is average, with rough seas, black sand, and lots of surfers and kid surfers. However, the instructors are excellent. But don’t make the mistake of staying in the heart of the complex. The vegan food is good, and the breakfast is enjoyable.

The quality of the Yoga classes is simply exceptional. The restaurant serves excellent food with fresh ingredients and fair prices. The rooms are simple and comfortable. After staying for 25 days, I can say that it’s a place where you quickly feel at home. The most impressive thing is the humility and kindness of the staff, people who have a heart of gold and work with sincerity. I often saw them gather, probably to always strive for improvement. And for that, I can only congratulate them 🙂

When I thought of a yoga retreat, I didn’t expect a setup like this. In my mind, a yoga retreat involves staying with the same people, having main teachers, and following a structured program. Here, it feels more like a guest house with drop-in yoga classes. You might end up sharing a room with someone who isn’t into yoga, leading to conflicting schedules – like partying late or getting up early for yoga.

My experience was great, even though it wasn’t exactly what I had in mind. On the bright side, this setup offers more flexibility. I noticed posters advertising all-encompassing yoga retreats, but they come with a higher price tag. Still, for what I paid, I’m more than satisfied! I enjoyed the classes, variety of offerings, friendly staff, and the lovely people I met there.

The healthy food was a highlight for me – I loved the banana smoothie, chia bowl, and the availability of free water. The location, on a quiet street close to the beach, was perfect too.

I appreciated the workshops they offered, like the women’s circle that created strong bonds among us. It was a wonderful experience overall.

The hotel offered activities both inside and outside the premises, but as an extra bonus, guests could take part in extracurricular activities such as conversation circles on site (during breakfast, by the pool, or at the cafe), meetings after yoga classes, or simple beach activities where they could get to know each other. The place, the atmosphere, the attention, and the service were all so welcoming, eco-friendly, nourishing, healing, and rejuvenating.

The facilities were simply cozy, clean, and very connected to nature. The location is perfect for practicing yoga individually and also with great native Balinese instructors who impart the pure essence of yoga.

The Balinese massages included in the unlimited 30-day package and the delicious breakfast at Alkaline restaurant were the perfect addition! Without a doubt, I found the best medicine for my body at Serenity Eco Guest House & Yoga. Thank you very much! I’ll be back soon to recharge more energy!

The building work starting every morning at 7 am slightly put me off my room. I wish they had let us know this would happen when we checked in. But I did love the yoga classes – they were a good size and there was plenty of help. Aerial yoga was a first for me and I really enjoyed it. I would definitely do it again in England.

The bathroom could have been a bit cleaner, but it is an eco hostel so they can’t use as strong cleaning products as normal. I’m not a vegan, so the on-site restaurant options weren’t really my cup of tea, but others have said it was yummy. Overall, it is a great place to stay. I really loved it here. You only need to give 30 minutes notice before yoga classes. The staff were really friendly and helpful. A Late Breakfast was a good place to meet people. The beach is just down the road, with plenty of food places within walking distance. The other guests were really friendly, and the pool area is a great place to chill. My bathroom was a bit basic, but the shower was warm and my bed was comfy and clean. I recommend it for solo travelers who want to try some yoga and be close to surf spots too.

I imagine that some people might feel sensitive towards insects and nature. That wasn’t the case for me, but just a heads up – Serenity’s eco-friendly approach means there’s more wildlife around their place. During my first trip to Bali, I wanted to chill out, so Canggu and Serenity Eco Guesthouse were the perfect spots. Check-in was a breeze and I got the lowdown on all the amenities they had – and there were a lot. Personally, I loved the powerful Balinese massage. I also tried the Ashtanga and Aerial Yoga classes, which I recommend. The Alkaline restaurant had sugar- and gluten-free options, and I couldn’t get enough of the raw bars and smoothie bowls. The resort is close to Canggu’s main strip but in a quieter area, perfect for evening relaxation. Oh, and the surfing lesson was by far the best part of my stay!

The finishing touches in the bathrooms are used by many people. If you’re looking for more entertainment in terms of nightlife, shopping, etc., you’ll have to walk a bit, about 15 minutes. It’s doable during the day but less ideal at night.
I found it to be a lovely place to land in Bali. There is tranquility and plenty of spots to relax. There is a wide selection of great yoga classes. The spa is delightful and reasonably priced. The beach is just a 2-minute walk away. The staff is friendly and helpful.

The yoga experience was amazing overall with different teachers bringing unique approaches. I attended 81 classes in a month, only leaving one due to lackluster content in Hannah’s Sunset flow. Yudah’s classes are decent, but his English needs improvement. The grammar and excessive talking can be frustrating for some, causing students to leave. However, it’s a language issue that can be fixed by learning proper instructions in English.

The Alkaline restaurant has some issues with slow and chaotic service. It can be frustrating when others are served before you, even if they ordered after you. The staff works hard, but the kitchen organization needs improvement to cater to guests on tight yoga schedules. Despite this, the sweet porridge is a must-try breakfast item.

The staff at Serenity is exceptional, always willing to help if approached properly. They work tirelessly in a tourist area catering to Westerners, displaying humility and dedication. The reception teams at Serenity 2 and Serenity 1, along with the yoga receptionists, are skilled and efficient. The drivers are helpful, and the massages are top-notch.

I extended my stay multiple times, recommending the shared dorm with AC at Serenity 2 for comfort and a quiet environment. Special thanks to the yoga instructors who each bring something unique to the practice. I learned a lot from all of them.

I found it surprising to hand over my passport upon arrival. I tried to pay cash for the first night when I got there at 1:30 am, but it seemed like giving up my passport was the only way to get a room. This is not something I’m used to when I travel.

I stayed in B7, and the dog managed to get into the common area before the stairs leading up to the toilet. When I came down on my second night, he growled and barked aggressively, but thankfully, he ran away. I have to admit, I was a bit scared. The yoga classes were more challenging than I expected, but the instructors made it enjoyable.

The food was creative and imaginative. Even though I’m not vegan, I enjoyed trying out the menu. The pool and massage facilities were very nice and actually exceeded my expectations. The pre-arranged ride from the airport was definitely worth it! My driver spoke good English and patiently waited for a full 90 minutes while I went through customs and immigration.

Our room. Not a restful night. Just next to a dog breeder according to the receptionist…constant barking and roosters, impossible to sleep well even with earplugs. And these noises continue during the day. Hearing dogs bark all the time is not pleasant. We had a fridge but no kettle, so no hot water available as advertised, having to walk 1.5 km for a cup of tea is not what I call convenient. The shower didn’t work properly, alternating between hot and cold water. Not worth it for the budget…not serene, even though that was its name. The Serenity center was nice, with a pool, restaurant, and garden, but if you don’t stay there, you can’t enjoy the services offered like hot and cold water, relaxation room, pool, breakfast, everything is there fortunately, we had a scooter because it was not close by. The yoga classes and equipment are perfect, with classes available at any time of the day.

If you enjoy camping, then Serenity is the place for you. Personally, I am not a fan. The site gets swarmed by mosquitoes and not much is done to stop them, except maybe turning off lights and using mosquito lotion (which doesn’t really work). I wouldn’t call it a peaceful retreat; it’s more like staying at a Guesthouse with a yoga pass. There’s only one beginners class on the schedule, and the other classes, while advertised as suitable for beginners, really aren’t. The quality of teaching can vary widely. Nia seems to think the most important part of Aerial yoga is getting good Instagram pictures. Todjion didn’t want to make any adjustments during class. But Magdelena was fantastic; her Vinyasa class was suitable for all levels and focused on real yoga without egos, offering three variations for each pose.

During my stay, I got sick and needed a doctor, but the staff didn’t seem to care. They were no help in finding a doctor, so I had to wait over 4 hours. It’s not a great way to treat young solo travelers. The rooms were terrible, especially considering the price difference for air conditioning and a private bathroom. One bathroom was covered in dead moths and mosquitoes. And it was so noisy, with parties, animals, and motorbikes.

But the food at Alkaline restaurant was delicious, and the surfing experience and teacher were amazing. Some of the staff were helpful, at least.

People are not continuing to clean the beach, which is bad because it needs to be looked after. You can take on the task yourself, but there’s a lot to do, so having an organized group is much better. The teachers are great, they help correct your poses, and the classes are very dynamic, focusing deeply on the asanas. All levels are welcome, which is good for us. The staff is very friendly and kind. The food at the restaurant is nice, with a huge and delicious breakfast. The room is cleaned every day by housekeeping.

Some of the bathrooms weren’t too desirable, but staff still kept them clean. Outside your dorms in the morning, it can get noisy with staff and the “fire man,” as we started calling him. But if you’re up early for yoga anyway, you learn to deal. It would be nice if the aircon could be on a timer so they don’t wake you every morning when they come in to shut it off. Also, it seems strange that they open the window as soon as they turn off the air. Wouldn’t you want to keep the cold air in as long as possible? It would be great if the later, more relaxing yoga classes were in a quieter room. It can be very distracting with the motor bikes and people talking right under you. These are all minor things and wouldn’t stop me from returning 🙂 Everything exceeded my expectations. There was a good selection of classes and great teachers. By the end of it, you find yourself in a pretty great routine. The food was amazing, and the staff went above and beyond. I love the mosquito lotion! Can’t wait to go back…hopefully soon!

I loved everything about my stay at Serenity, but I had a bad experience with bug bites. One morning, I woke up with my whole back, shoulders, and feet covered in bites. There were so many that I had an allergic reaction. I believe they were bedbugs, not mosquitoes. The staff suggested that the bugs might have come from the bamboo outside our rooms… who knows? I never actually saw any bugs, but woke up with 100 bites. I was approached by people at yoga class who saw my bites, and some of them had the same issue. One girl mentioned that bedbugs were a known problem at Serenity, which is why she doesn’t stay there but comes to yoga class instead because it’s great. The staff was helpful and put coconut oil on my bites, but it didn’t really help as I had even more bites the next day. I ended up canceling my last week at Serenity and went to Ubud instead. It was difficult to focus on yoga and meditation with the itching from the bites. Seems like the bug problem was only in the single rooms, as the dorms seemed okay. Serenity is a fantastic place for solo travelers looking for peace and calm while meeting like-minded people and practicing yoga in a lovely environment. The location is great, close to the beach, and the yoga classes are excellent. The staff is nice and the prices are reasonable. I especially enjoyed Kartana and Pusbas’ classes, but there’s something for everyone at Serenity. The spa was also very good.

The staff at Serenity and Alkeline were super friendly and helpful – they went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere and surroundings were just perfect. I can’t find any faults with my time at Serenity. Huge thanks to the whole team there!

The massages usually start late and finish early. The food is just okay, not always amazing, and the portions are small. Maybe that’s not a bad thing, but sometimes we need more. It would be nice if they offered a special in the evening that wasn’t on the menu. They have a great range of yoga classes, excellent instructors, and super friendly staff. The main place has a tranquil setting.

The location is right near the beach, and they serve up some delicious and healthy vegan food. The staff is super friendly and sweet. Let’s not forget about the incredible massage you can get here. There are some restaurants around that area but going to other restaurants can be a bit scary, especially at night. It’s too dark. However, they serve lunch and dinner as well. The yoga instructors are awesome. I learned a lot from them.
The accommodation is nice. It’s clean and pretty quiet.

I don’t think this is a yoga retreat. There’s no set program, coaching, or guidance. You basically just get a place to stay and a yoga pass, and it’s up to you to figure out what classes to take and how to do it. This can be really frustrating for beginners.

Plus, the place is a lot busier than I expected from the descriptions and website. This is mainly because of the pretty good restaurant and people walking in for classes. When you add in the lack of structure, it doesn’t feel like a retreat at all to me. It’s a nice budget place to stay and do some yoga. The lessons are generally good (though the quality varies between teachers), the accommodations are nice, the pool is good, and the location near the beach is great.

I would like to see more plug sockets in the rooms and aircon units. The yoga here is excellent and the whole package is extremely good value. The massages were an added bonus and equally fabulous. When I arrived after a 20-hour journey, I wasn’t sure if I would stay because, as a westerner, the room seemed a bit too basic. However, within a couple of days, this place felt like home with such a friendly vibe. If I had any criticism, it would be that the rooms need more plug sockets and aircon as the ceiling fans did very little. The shared bathroom facilities are plentiful, and I never once had an occasion in 31 days where there were not enough toilets or showers available. Lots of people got Bali belly so I’d recommend taking a stock of Imodium, as this was not due to anything in the hostel but mostly food eaten off-site. I’d recommend the 30-day program as it gives you time to chill, rethink, and relax with the yoga.

During the first few days, I was accommodated 500m further in the serenity dorms 2. Unfortunately, the rooms lacked charm and atmosphere. They were small and, unfortunately, dark. The entire Serenity team is super kind and friendly, always at your service 24/7, giving their best. After a few days, you feel like part of a big family.
Massages are a must-try along with yoga classes. Restaurant prices are fair and not more expensive than outside. The resort has a beautiful, well-kept garden with a clean pool and lots of little details, a place to retreat and feel at home.
Even the dorms in the resort are cozy and clean. Beds were even made every day. Overall, it’s an unbeatable value for the price! I stayed for a week and will definitely come back! Thank you for everything.

The only thing I found a bit difficult was that the fan in my room B7 was weak, so it often got hot in there without aircon! Maybe someone could check out the fan!

Everything was absolutely amazing, especially how the staff was always super friendly and helpful.

The location is perfect, with easy access to the beach, rice fields, restaurants, and coffee shops within walking distance.

After visiting Ubud, Kuta, and Seminyak, it was always heartwarming to come back to Serenity, which felt like home because the staff felt like family.

I had the pleasure of meeting other travelers like Mel, Michael, Margaret, and Teri, all wonderful people who made my stay special.

All the yoga teachers – Sida, Kartana, Mia, Yogi, Citra, and Daivum – were fantastic, each with their own unique style. I loved all the classes, just wish I had gone to more instead of being lazy by the pool!

The massages are a must-try, so healing!

The owners, a beautiful and joyful couple, were very hands-on and passionate. It was always uplifting to see the wife daily, dressed immaculately and offering fresh flowers to each deity. Very profound and with a humble heart.

Serenity feels like a fairy tale place with happy and positive messages all around, making you feel safe, happy, and at peace. I absolutely loved it!

The philosophy of the yoga teachers varied a lot. I felt uncomfortable at times because there was always pressure to do more and be the best at stretching in class. It really ruined the yoga experience, especially for beginners like me.

There was also a virus going around, with someone different getting sick every day. We suspected it was from the restaurant food, as no one had any issues before coming to Bali.

The staff took good care of me – they brought me water and charcoal tablets in the middle of the night and even more the next day. They were incredibly kind and helpful, making it easy to feel at ease. They were truly amazing!

My room at KrisKros was spacious and well-equipped: fridge, mosquito net, fan, air conditioning, you name it.

The instructor encouraged and allowed people to take photos during the aerial class, which I found to be very distracting. I think they should have waited until after class.

My partner and I got very sick halfway through the retreat, so unfortunately, no more yoga for us. We can’t be sure where we got it from, but we only ate at one restaurant outside Sanctuary, and it was always very busy. Others at Sanctuary were also sick, possibly because people weren’t cleaning the mats properly and the cutlery and dishes weren’t disinfected.

The staff gave us a charcoal drink that really helped, but being in Sanctuary 2 made us feel quite isolated. I sent a message asking for breakfast to be brought to us when we were unwell, but it took 24 hours to get a response.

It’s a great value, just be careful not to get sick! Despite our illness, we still enjoyed the classes, pool area, and lovely breakfast. The room had everything we needed, and the free insect repellent was a nice touch. The staff were also very friendly.

I had to move to Kris Kris, the 3rd building for one night. I didn’t like it much because the room smelled like a toilet. Serenity Yoga and Guesthouse is a warm, welcoming place where they serve you with a smile and make you feel at home right away. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay in the main building because it was fully booked. I stayed at Serenity 2 and rented a bike to go back and forth. The yoga classes were challenging at first since I hadn’t practiced in two years, but all the teachers explained things well, offered different positions, and pushed you to do better. In a short amount of time, I gained strength, lost weight thanks to the amazing alkaline restaurant, and found peace in my mind and soul. I loved it so much that we want to come back another time. However, there was one thing: The rooster in Serenity 3 woke us up every night, making it hard to sleep.

The food portions are too small for me, especially at breakfast. I love waking up in the morning and heading straight to a yoga class. You can find great restaurants like The Shady Shack and Cafe Veda just a 15-minute walk away. On hot days, you can relax by the pool, read a book, and then take a sunset walk on the beach (only 5 minutes away). The facilities are beautiful and the location is calm.

I saw a rat in my room last night. The classes here are all amazing and they offer a variety of different kinds of yoga and meditation. I find the eco-friendly concept of this place really interesting. The food is so good and the staff is friendly, although some of them seem a little confused.

Great professors! You feel comfortable with them right away. They accommodate their classes very well for both beginners and advanced students. Serinity staff is available to help you and the beach is just a 3-minute walk away?

The reception staff didn’t speak English well, making communication difficult. However, they were friendly. Unfortunately, they had trouble finding me in their system despite me paying for my yoga classes four times. It seemed like they were trying to make extra money. Even though I had paid for 5 classes, they always claimed they couldn’t find me in their system and I had to show my receipt and argue with them before I could book my class. The first time, they tried to charge me 110k instead of the 90k I had paid online. They insisted it was “high season” and I had to pay more. This was frustrating and every time I went to a class, they said I hadn’t paid. It was really annoying and ruined my experience. Despite this, I enjoyed the peaceful and calm atmosphere around the accommodation. The location was great and the vibe around the place was lovely.

I experienced a language barrier when I was addressing concerns about losing my room key and needing a ride to the shuttle for the gilli islands the next morning. The manager had left a message for a driver to pick me up at a different location and said I would be refunded my key deposit minus the cost of a new key. I managed to find my lost key in the lining of my backpack. The next day, the driver from eco didn’t show up, so I had to walk to the main building to avoid missing my prepaid boat ride. The shuttle driver wasn’t happy because we had to go back for my luggage. Despite finding my key, I was still charged for a replacement since that was the manager’s instruction. I couldn’t discuss the found key with staff, as they couldn’t reach management for clarification. It was frustrating not being able to resolve the issue. The rooster near my window kept me up all night, making it impossible to sleep. The beach location was nice, and most of the staff tried to help, but better protocols are needed to handle situations like mine.

    – Stray and sometimes aggressive dogs roamed around
    – The food at the restaurant was too expensive for the quality
    – Some of the employees don’t speak English very well, but colleagues were able to help out
    – The staff was very friendly and attentive (although there was sometimes a bit of a commotion behind the counter, with 5-8 employees, of whom 2-3 seemed to be busy)
    – There were a variety of yoga styles to choose from
    – The cleanliness was excellent
    – There were plenty of seating options

As soon as I arrived for my two-week stay, I realized it was a mistake. This place was so busy and there was constant banging from construction works, totally different from the peaceful vibe I was expecting. I ended up canceling my reservation and leaving because it wasn’t what I had in mind. I must say, the staff were great though.

At breakfast, I tried out many different yoga classes from various instructors. The singing bowl and gong meditation, in particular, really helped balance my yin energy.

I want a storage locker to leave my bag after checkout, even if I have to pay for it. The privacy isn’t great because you can hear other guests in their rooms. The food at the restaurant is good. The energy of the place is lively.

Some of the staff didn’t speak English very well, but we always managed to understand each other. The place isn’t luxurious, but that’s fine with me. Just remember that it attracts a lot of young travelers who aren’t looking for a quiet yoga retreat.

Everyone in the staff was incredibly nice and accommodating. The classes were really good, and the unlimited pass allows you to customize your schedule. I loved trying different yoga and meditation styles taught by Balinese and Westerners. There were even options for Yoga Philosophy and Life Coaching.

The eco concept is great. The restaurant served delicious mainly vegetarian/vegan/raw food. The location next to the beach was perfect, and the busier center of Canggu is close by for more variety.

I stayed at the second location, which I think is better – quieter, with apparently bigger and more recent rooms.

Overall, I met some truly great people and found much more than I expected during this week.

The rooms were not very clean. I stayed in three different rooms – first the shared dorms, which were probably the best and cleanest. Then in two other locations with my own room. Both rooms had dirty bedding – the first had blood on the sheets that looked like someone had squashed a mosquito, and the second had white stains that looked like something else. Both rooms were supposed to have hot water and AC. The first room had a broken shower and then no hot water when it was fixed. The second room had a broken AC. When I told the staff about the issues, they had maintenance come to fix them within a few hours.

The staff were mostly nice, but the owner seemed quite rude. He rudely told me to leave the common area while he was talking to the staff. Some yoga teachers were lovely, but a few were arrogant and rude. One class felt like a drill Sargent, and another teacher adjusted me into a pose that hurt my back. Luckily, there was no serious damage. Most of the yoga classes were good, but some were horrible. The food at the restaurant was healthy and fresh. The location was great! I appreciated that the accommodation was smoke and alcohol-free, attracting like-minded people who were health-conscious, creating a great vibe and plenty of interesting people to talk to. It was a great hangout spot.

People were attracted to stay here because it’s mentioned in the lonely planet, even if they weren’t really feeling the vibe or into yoga! Some of the yoga attendees were a little too serious and pretentious – maybe they need some face-yoga to remember to smile! The bathrooms definitely need a deep clean with bleach, but that doesn’t really fit the zen atmosphere I know!

The yoga teachers were all unique, but they each brought something special to the table – they were clearly selected with care. The restaurant was a fantastic addition, offering good value, a lot of variety, and healthy, convenient options.

We originally booked the Moon room, but we had to ask for different accommodation because it had a damp problem and stank. All the rooms are pretty basic, which is fine by us, but my sister has asthma so we couldn’t stay in that room. After a quick chat, they sorted us out with a new room and the rest of our stay was fantastic. The classes were fantastic with a wide selection, and the instructors were top-notch – really inspiring and excellent.

I wish there were some lounger chairs by the pool and maybe some tables on the balconies for lounging. It would be nice to have some suggestions for sightseeing in Bali for first-timers. There wasn’t much that I didn’t enjoy overall. I didn’t like that I only booked 8 days. The location, solitude, and proposed agenda were all great. The staff and service were always available and accommodating. The accommodations were perfect for both high and low maintenance guests. Transportation services were easily accessible. The culture tour was fantastic and the instructors were very knowledgeable. The proprietor was helpful and informative. The atmosphere was super laid back and enjoyable.

They are expanding and have construction work going on from 8am. It disrupts the beautiful tranquillity of the place, but I hope the charm won’t be lost through the expansion. It feels very inclusive, with all the staff being very friendly, and you don’t have to be an expert at yoga.

There are lots of little fountains scattered around, creating a constant background of trickling water sounds.

The food at the Alkaline cafe is healthy and delicious. I wish they would sell a recipe book to take home and continue the goodness.
