You’ll have the chance to join a daily culture experience program that includes making “Canang” and Sarong, followed by a Temple Blessing or playing Rindik Bamboo with a local musician (depending on the schedule).
Lovina Beach, or simply Lovina, stretches along the northwestern side of the beautiful island of Bali, Indonesia. It covers a coastal strip starting from 5 kilometers west of the city of Singaraja and extending 15 kilometers further west. Singaraja, which is the seat of Buleleng Regency, is located nearby.
We include daily healthy breakfast and dinner in the price, and we also have vegetarian and vegan options available. Throughout the day, you can enjoy healthy juices to help you cool down and refresh. At Puri Bagus Lovina, we proudly serve traditional favorites made with locally fresh and healthy ingredients. You’ll be pleased to know that the following meals are included in your stay: breakfast, dinner, and drinks.
Puri Bagus Lovina has other exciting activities and tour programs available at an additional cost. You can start your day with a dolphin tour on a traditional boat, where you have a 90% chance of seeing dolphins in their natural habitat. Please note that we cannot guarantee dolphin sightings. The tour departs at 6:00 a.m.
Another option is the Munduk Coffee Plantation tour. This tour takes you through the village of Munduk, known for its cool mountain air and high-quality coffee, clove, and cacao production. Along the way, you’ll pass through beautiful vineyards and terraced rice paddies. The tour also includes a visit to the only Buddhist monastery on the island, showcasing a blend of Balinese and South Asian architecture. You can also enjoy a dip in the hot spring and visit a waterfall before taking in the stunning mountain and lake views.
If you’re up for some adventure, the Banyuatis trekking tour is a great choice. The trek starts in Banyuatis and provides a glimpse into the Balinese way of life. You’ll follow the farmers’ trail through terraced rice paddies and observe their traditional farming techniques. Take some time to learn about the unique irrigation system known as “Subak”. The tour concludes with a visit to a coffee roasting hut, where you can taste freshly brewed Balinese coffee, local rice cakes, and enjoy a delicious lunch.
For a leisurely way to explore the surroundings, consider the Pemaron cycling tour. This two-hour ride takes you through temples, villages, and terraced rice paddies, allowing you to experience the beauty of Bali’s countryside. Along the way, your knowledgeable guide will share insights into Balinese culture and customs. Make sure to stop at the Bhuwana Kerta Monument, a heroic monument built by members of the Balinese army who fought against the Dutch in 1948.
In addition to these activities, Puri Bagus Lovina also offers extra treatments at our signature relaxing spa, at an additional cost. You can choose from the Lovina spa package, warm stone therapy, or Jaya traditional healing.

November 12, 2023 at 12:00 amI went on a yoga retreat at Puri Bagus Lovina for a week. If you want to escape your everyday life or need some relaxation from the busy streets of Ubud or Canggu during your Bali vacation, I highly recommend heading north to Puri Bagus Lovina. The resort, right on the beach, feels like paradise. The bungalows were really comfortable, the food was fresh and delicious, and the staff treated me like family, always willing to help with anything I needed. The yoga classes, which were held twice a day, in the morning and afternoon, were led perfectly, suitable for both beginners and professionals. Kadek, the resort’s yoga teacher, and her substitute teacher were both amazing instructors. Each class was unique and incorporated asanas, meditation, pranayama techniques, or morning kriyas. After not practicing yoga for a while, it was the ideal way for me to get back into a daily yoga routine. Besides the breathtaking yoga studio, my favorite spots in the resort were the spa and pool. If you’re interested, the staff can organize individual tours for you to explore Bali’s natural beauty and culture. I left the retreat feeling so relaxed and happy! I can’t thank Kadek and everyone at Puri Bagus Lovina enough for such an incredible experience.

July 2, 2023 at 12:00 amI stayed at this stunningly landscaped resort that is located really close to a mosque. Unfortunately, the mosque plays prayers over loud speakers multiple times a day, starting at 5 am. During my stay, I happened to be there during Eid al-Adha and the constant noise from the speakers gave me some PTSD. I understand that it’s not the resort’s fault, but it was quite unpleasant. I really hope they can find a way to communicate with the mosque and ask them to turn down the volume or direct the speakers away from the resort.
Now, one thing that the resort can control is the smoking sections. I noticed that many guests would smoke at the restaurant or by the poolside, and it was hard to avoid the smoke in public spaces. It would be great if they could designate a separate area for smokers, away from the restaurant and pool.
On the bright side, the staff at Puri Bagus were incredibly kind. They arranged a well-thought-out itinerary for me, filled with cultural activities and daily yoga. My favorite experiences were the trips to the waterfalls, trekking, and cooking class. Additionally, they have a spa where I booked extra treatments to help me relax. The yoga classes were also really good, thanks to Kadek, a knowledgeable Ashtanga teacher. Since I was pretty much the only person practicing yoga at the resort most of the time, I got to have private lessons 9 out of 10 times.

June 11, 2023 at 12:00 amThere is nothing to report. This place is quiet, pleasant, very well maintained, with a staff that takes good care of you.
The yoga classes are suitable for beginners and intermediates, and they take place by the seaside with a splendid view.
The villas are comfortable (I had one with a sea view) and have air conditioning.
The package with the yoga classes offers great value for money because, in addition to the classes, activities and a massage are included.
The meals are delicious, and I highly recommend the spa services.

May 15, 2023 at 12:00 amThe hotel is a beautiful, tranquil, well-maintained place. The staff is very kind and caring. The yoga teacher, Kadek, is excellent and also very nice.
Ayu, the woman who organized my week, suggested some very enriching excursions, including a visit to an ashram built by Mister Dada with adorable orphaned children. I shared some great moments with them. I also experienced a purification ritual performed by a Hindu monk in a water temple, which I shared with Balinese families.
The spa is fantastic, a beautiful and calming place with very gentle masseuses. The rooms are very beautiful.

August 31, 2022 at 12:00 amThe resort and accommodations at Puri Bagus Lovina are stunning, and the staff there are absolutely amazing! They genuinely cared about making sure every guest had an incredible experience. Kadek, the yoga instructor, was absolutely outstanding. Even though I was new to yoga and needed extra patience, Kadek was the perfect instructor for me, and I’m so grateful for that.
There were so many little touches that made my stay special, like finding heart-shaped flower decorations carefully arranged on the bed. And during the last yoga session, they even served coffee with delicious Balinese cake. The resort manager, Ayu, was always available and made it a point to check in with me every day.
I’m a solo traveler, and I highly recommend Puri Bagus Lovina to anyone who enjoys independent travel but still wants a sense of community. There were so many other staff members who made my stay unforgettable, but unfortunately, I can’t list them all due to limited space. I just hope they all know how much they contributed to my truly amazing experience.

November 7, 2019 at 12:00 amI struggled to understand the instructors sometimes. The noise from the sea and outside, along with their accents, made it difficult. Plus, I’m English.

April 16, 2019 at 12:00 amGusti, the monitor. Despite being very skilled in yoga practice, he doesn’t correct the students, so we don’t learn. In class, it feels like his personal yoga practice.
The other monitors, Ayu and Kahdet, are awesome. Both are great yoga teachers. I’m thrilled with their classes. The place, the facilities, the rooms, resort, restaurant, pool, spa, yoga room… everything is perfectly taken care of down to the smallest details. But without a doubt, what stands out the most is the kindness, dedication, attention, and care that all the employees provide to the customers.
Without a second thought, I would repeat the same trip…

January 27, 2019 at 12:00 amwho attended Gusti’s yoga classes found it difficult to understand him due to his strong English accent. Instead of focusing on themselves, they had to spend the entire class trying to decipher his instructions. Not only that, but Gusti didn’t seem to be helping them improve in yoga. He would keep his eyes closed during most of the paranayama session and didn’t bother to check if they were doing the movements and asanas correctly. When they were struggling with a particular position, Gusti wouldn’t come over to assist them either. Furthermore, he failed to provide proper instructions on important details, such as making sure their feet were at a 90-degree angle with their knees. It became clear that Gusti didn’t understand the true essence of yoga, which involves connecting the mind, soul, and body.

November 6, 2018 at 12:00 amAs soon as I arrived, Puri Bagus’ gracious staff welcomed me with open arms. The view from the location, right by the beach, was absolutely stunning. I got to enjoy daily swims and indulge in fantastic vegetarian meals prepared by a top-notch chef. Not to mention, I had the chance to explore Ubud and the surrounding villages to immerse myself in the local culture. The caring yoga instructors helped me feel amazing throughout my 10-day stay. I must give a big shout-out to Iyu, the manager, for providing such a professional and personal touch and making my experience at Puri Bagus truly wonderful. I can’t wait to come back again soon!

May 14, 2018 at 12:00 amI had a challenging experience with the language barrier. Although each instructor spoke English, there were times when I couldn’t understand them. One time, I thought one of them asked me to reach for my foreskin! It was quite confusing. Additionally, I felt like the instructors often ignored those who were struggling. They focused more on correcting rather than providing helpful instruction. It would be beneficial if they received some training on how to teach effectively.
Helpful ReviewHowever, the yoga room was absolutely spectacular. The morning and evening sessions had different atmospheres due to the movement of the sun. Being right by the ocean was simply wonderful. They provided towels, mats, blocks, and water, which was nice. All the classes started and ended on time, and each instructor definitely knew their yoga.

March 31, 2018 at 12:00 amI had an amazing time! The place is absolutely stunning and peaceful. The rooms overlook a warm and swimmable sea with breathtaking views. The yoga sessions, held twice a day, took place in a beautiful studio with views of the garden and sea. Our instructor Kadak made sure the classes were interesting and diverse. She, along with the rest of the resort staff, were kind, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was unforgettable. It’s the perfect place to recharge, and there are so many additional activities to choose from, like diving, dolphin watching, traditional Balinese cooking classes, trekking through rice plantations, and climbing Mount Batur, just to name a few. The food at the resort restaurant was always top-notch, beautifully presented, and served with great attention to detail.
I can’t express how pleased I am with my stay at Puri Bagus in Lovina. I was sad to leave and will definitely make it a point to visit again in the future.

January 27, 2018 at 12:00 amThe internet was working, but we would lose the network every time our device went into sleep mode. It wasn’t very convenient. They should do a better job of cleaning the room and facilities. However, the yoga sala was great and we absolutely loved the spa! Plus, all the staff were really friendly and helpful!

September 3, 2017 at 12:00 amOverall, I found the accommodation to be extremely disappointing. The lack of cleanliness in both the room and the restaurant was the main issue. In the room, the walls and curtains were disgustingly dirty, and the towels were so old that they had turned grey. Furthermore, the cups and glasses were not cleaned daily and there were instances where we returned to find the shower covered in Jif and the mirror smeared, making it difficult to see anything.
The restaurant didn’t fare any better. The plates for breakfast were unclean and there were ants crawling all over everything. We brought up these issues with Ayu, who was very helpful. I believe that this place has the potential to be a perfect 10/10 with some simple improvements. It definitely needs to modernize in order to compete with other retreats or hotels.
Additionally, I found some of the yoga classes to be quite slow-paced. If you enjoy that style, then it’s great, but if not, then this retreat may not be the right fit for you. On the positive side, the gardens and setting were beautiful and the yoga studio was lovely. The dolphin tour was also enjoyable, and the staff were pleasant and accommodating.
The location in the little village was good, with a few other restaurants, cafes, and bars just a short 2-minute walk away. There was also a small shop owned by Julie, whose husband is a driver, so we had a few pleasant conversations with them.

July 13, 2017 at 12:00 amThis place isn’t just a yoga retreat – it’s actually an amazing hotel where you can also take yoga lessons if you want! But when we were there, none of the other guests seemed interested in yoga. It was just us and one other person who joined the yoga class. Honestly, I don’t think I would call it a proper yoga retreat. There are plenty of other hotels in Bali that offer the same thing. But let me tell you, the staff here are super helpful and will go above and beyond for you. And the hotel and pool? Absolutely fabulous!

I arrived at 3am, so I had to wait until later in the morning to get a proper glimpse of my accommodation. And let me tell you, every breathtaking photo I saw on TripAdvisor was indeed real! The staff went above and beyond to assist me, the excursions were fantastic, the yoga sessions were perfectly challenging, and the grounds were like a little piece of paradise.

June 10, 2017 at 12:00 amEverything was great. Everything was just perfect. The resort’s location takes your breath away, the facilities are modern and beautiful, and the food is delicious. But the best thing about it all was the staff. The people themselves were incredibly kind and genuine. They provided all the help I needed and more. I can’t thank them enough for everything they did for me. The whole experience allowed me to truly immerse myself in the Balinese culture and meet its beautiful people. I would even go as far as calling it a “Balinese retreat” because of all the amazing activities. While yoga was fantastic, having it offered more than once a day would make it even better.

June 3, 2017 at 12:00 amThe beach loungers should be cleaned daily. The staff was always friendly and attentive and they addressed us by our names. Specifically, the head of service and Ayu anticipated and fulfilled our every wish. The seaside garden, the outdoor spa, yoga in an open hall right by the ocean, and the delicious food made our stay exceptional. Additionally, we enjoyed activities such as dolphin watching, visiting an ashram, and making offerings to the gods. Furthermore, we were able to enjoy the sunset every day. It was wonderful.

May 26, 2017 at 12:00 amI think they should have more yoga or meditation practice at this retreat. Doing yoga once a day for just an hour doesn’t feel like enough to call it a yoga retreat.
The restaurant is supposed to be five-star, but it was pretty disappointing. None of the meals impressed me or anyone else I talked to.
But I have to say, I absolutely loved this retreat. It was one of my favorite parts of my trip, and I was here for a whole month. The resort is absolutely incredible and luxurious. The staff were so kind and accommodating, and Ayu, the woman who runs the hotel, is just amazing. Our yoga instructor was fantastic too. April 16, 2017 at 12:00 amThe yoga classes could have been a bit better, but the different teachers listened to our recommendations and changed accordingly, so overall they were very good. What made it even better was that the classes took place in a beautiful wooden house with large glass windows, right by the ocean. It was absolutely stunning. I traveled by myself and had no worries at all at this place. They picked me up from the airport and everything went perfectly each day. The people there were extremely friendly and provided excellent service and food. The excursion they organized during the retreat was the cherry on top, as it allowed us to explore some interesting parts of Bali. The spa was also a major highlight, offering amazing value for the experience. On top of everything, they remembered and used your name, making sure you were well taken care of.

April 6, 2017 at 12:00 amUnfortunately, this yoga retreat didn’t really focus on yoga. They gave us a schedule when we arrived, with specific days and times for activities. But during my five-day stay, I only had two one-hour yoga classes on my schedule. And to make matters worse, it became clear after attending the first class that the so-called “yoga teachers” weren’t actually trained at all. Turns out, they were just regular resort staff who taught the classes because it was too expensive to hire qualified yoga teachers.
On top of that, I had a leak in my bathroom from the second day onwards. I told the staff about it over five times, but it was never fixed. Their brilliant solution? They just put a bath towel on the floor to soak up the water. It’s a shame because the staff there are amazing and really helpful. And the location is so peaceful and quiet.
