Come join us for four days of silent meditation and yin yoga in the jungles of Bali. It’s going to be a profound period for both individual and group practice. During this time, we’ll be dedicating ourselves to silent meditation, yin yoga, and mindful walks in the serene hills. It’s a rare opportunity to truly connect with your heart and mind without any distractions. You’ll discover the answers you’ve been seeking within yourself, and experience the depth of who you are. This retreat allows you to take inward steps towards reconnecting with the source of healing and nourishment within you. It’s a gift of silence and stillness that you won’t want to miss.
Zazen is a unique form of meditation in Zen. It has been passed down for thousands of years by the Buddha and is meant to liberate humans from suffering. But it is not your ordinary meditation practice. It doesn’t have a specific goal or purpose, and it doesn’t take you from one place to another. Instead, it helps you realize that there is no coming and going, no one doing anything.
In Zen practice, there is a paradox. Just sitting is what it’s all about. Just being fully aware of your body, mind, and breath in each moment. It’s about facing resistance and discomfort as they arise and then returning to just sitting. It’s about paying attention to each moment and finding stillness and silence within.
When you fully embrace just sitting, time and space collapse, and all mental categories disappear. You are present in the moment, and everything else fades away. In this simplicity, you can truly be yourself and experience the world without any projections or distractions.
In Zen, we lose interest in lofty goals like enlightenment or self-realization. Instead, we focus on immediacy and intimacy with ourselves, others, and the world. Silence is a crucial aspect of this practice. Through meditation, you discover that silence is the answer you’ve been searching for all along. It is the ultimate teaching and religion.
During the retreat, you will be in silence for the entire duration, except for a few group activities. The schedule includes daily sessions of seated and walking meditation, as well as nature walks, Yin yoga, and talks by Hamid. The program accommodates participants of all meditation levels, and you are required to participate in at least three of the four meditation blocks each day.
At the end of the retreat, there will be a group meeting where you can share your thoughts and feelings from the silent practice. This will help you integrate your experience into your daily life. The teachings offered during the retreat will provide a framework to better understand your experience and support your growth.
The Yogi’s Garden offers a unique experience of “the real Bali” at our private retreat, wellness, and educational center. We are set within a working farm less than an hour from bustling Ubud.
At Maitri Retreats, we ensure that we cater to individuals with specific dietary needs by offering a variety of options like gluten-free, vegan, raw vegan, and paleo. If you have any dietary restrictions, just let us know and we will make sure to accommodate them. You can enjoy a farm-fresh buffet served three times a day, and we also have a table filled with fruits and snacks available between meals. Your meals will include breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and drinks.
You can book a one-and-a-half-hour full body massage in advance for just 30 USD.
You will get 3 nights of accommodation, 3 daily meals, and access to all the retreat activities. Plus, you can enjoy free drinks and snacks.
How much will the travel costs to the retreat center be? Do we need insurance? Who will arrange the transfer from the airport to the venue? Will they provide the massage treatments?

December 17, 2023 at 12:00 amI had an absolutely incredible experience at the retreat with Maitri retreats! Words simply can’t convey how wonderful it was to be surrounded by the lush Balinese rainforest and staying in such luxurious and nurturing accommodations.
The retreat was organized so well, giving us the perfect balance of opportunity for self-reflection and relaxation. We had plenty of time to go deep within ourselves and let go, while also enjoying the beauty of nature, amazing yin yoga sessions, delicious meals, and rejuvenating deep tissue massages.
I can’t stress enough how much this retreat came into my life at the perfect moment. Hamid’s daily teachings and the connection I felt with the rest of the group truly healed me. I am infinitely grateful!

December 6, 2023 at 12:00 amI adore everything. I’ve been practicing a different style of Meditation for over ten years. My experience with Zazen was absolutely amazing. It’s not about proving or justifying an accomplishment, but rather about learning to appreciate the art of Being and sitting quietly. There were moments when my mind was racing, but they felt distant and quickly faded away. Since returning home from the retreat, I’ve become a much calmer person and gained a lot of clarity. I plan on doing this retreat annually while incorporating the practice into my daily life.
The retreat is situated in a nurturing environment that reminds us of the cycle of life, with organic farming, animals, insects, weather, and people all around.
I really loved the fresh vegetables and salads, straight from the farm to the table. You can’t get any fresher than that. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the weather was cool, and the staff was incredibly friendly and always went above and beyond. It was truly an unforgettable experience. They even made special meals for me to accommodate my allergies, which was incredibly considerate.
Hamid, the Zazen Master, has a warm personality and is filled with wisdom and knowledge. I loved hearing his thoughts on philosophy and reading his poems. His presence during the silent moments showed his dedication to the Zazen tradition and practice, which was very inspiring. I bought some books to support my Zazen practice and I’m eagerly looking forward to next year’s retreat. But for now, I’ll continue to sit still and appreciate this moment.
“Embrace silence as your chosen art. Let it reveal the universe’s secrets to you.” – Rumi

October 30, 2023 at 12:00 amThe only downside is not being able to be alone in the room and have your own space.
Helpful ReviewAfter that, there were 31 of us participants. The setting was incredible with magnificent views.
The food was exceptional and varied, with fresh and seasonal products.
The activities, like yoga and tai chi, were of incredible quality.
The program was well structured and although it didn’t change, each day was different.
It was an intense but incredibly rejuvenating experience.
We became aware of recycling, saving water, and reducing waste.

August 28, 2023 at 12:00 amI didn’t expect much from this retreat, but it turned out to be the most peaceful, humbling, and connecting experience of my life. Hamid did an incredible job of guiding us through these seven days, and it truly transformed me. It felt like everything I’ve learned throughout my years of searching, getting two degrees, taking countless self-development courses, and receiving wisdom from my late mother finally clicked. On our last evening, I couldn’t help but cry tears of joy during Hamid’s final talk because I genuinely felt a spiritual awakening. I’m going to continue practicing Zazen at home, and I owe a big thank you to Hamid, the gentle and beautiful yin yoga teacher (Nana), the amazing and diverse attendees, and Yogis garden for providing the most delicious organic vegetarian food and their constant smiles and generosity. The wisdom I gained from this retreat is priceless, and I’m so grateful.

May 1, 2023 at 12:00 amFrom the start, I highly recommend the Silence Meditation Retreat in Karuna. It’s a journey to discover yourself and enhance your meditation practice. Hamid guides the retreat and does an excellent job taking care of everyone. Throughout the retreat, before, during, and after, you receive attentive care. The food is amazing, the group is friendly and welcoming, and Hamid’s authentic talks inspire you. The entire program is well-organized and thoroughly prepared. It’s evident that experienced mentors are behind it all. Despite the silence, participants never feel alone. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Hamid and Helen, the yoga teacher, for providing this incredible experience. I’m already looking forward to joining the Silent Meditation Retreat again in the future.

April 30, 2023 at 12:00 amI had a truly magnificent stay at this place. The atmosphere, the people, and the tranquility were all perfect. Not to mention the delicious and nutritious food – I couldn’t ask for more. The experience of silence, meditation, and deep thinking exceeded my expectations and taught me valuable lessons.
I can’t speak for everyone, but for me, this was the right choice and so much more. I got the sense that other participants felt the same way. So, a big thank you to Hamid and everyone involved in making this experience amazing. It was an absolute blast!
Sending cheers from Brussels!

November 14, 2022 at 12:00 amThe retreat with Maitri Retreats was a truly profound and life-changing experience for me. The combination of the beautiful nature, blissful silence, daily intense meditation, and a wonderful yin yoga practice, along with the thought-provoking talks by Hamid and the incredible group energy, made it truly unique.
I had booked the retreat with the intention of having some alone time, healing, and treating myself better. But what I received in return was so much more. I gained a deeper understanding of myself, discovered newfound compassion and love for myself, and now have the tools to take better care of myself.
After the retreat, I had my last therapy session (for now) and my psychotherapist revealed that what I experienced during the retreat was essentially intense therapy sessions with myself. I was able to heal many wounds, some of which I didn’t even realize were there.
This was my first retreat with Maitri Retreats, but it certainly won’t be my last.
