October 9, 2023 at 12:00 amI thought it was a bit pricey, but the attentive treatment made up for it. Maybe I’m just used to backpacking. The room looked great, but the walls were so thin you could hear everything next door and downstairs. I really enjoyed the retreat; it exceeded my expectations. The yoga was just the right level of challenge, and the sound healing and breath work were essential for healing. I’m grateful for everything and happy I had this experience!

October 4, 2023 at 12:00 amI have no complaints. Everything at the event was awesome and exceeded my expectations. The schedule was perfect. There were plenty of food options and meals. I was flying solo but was treated like royalty. The location, surrounded by rice paddies, is so beautiful and peaceful.

September 26, 2023 at 12:00 amI was disappointed and sad about this retreat that I had high hopes for. The communication was not good, and the program did not match the package and schedule I was promised. It was not my first time in Bali, so I don’t understand why the retreat only lasted less than a day and a half instead of the promised 3 days.
On top of that, there were issues with the room not being as advertised, being close to a noisy construction site, and having a bad smell and humidity. I had to pay for my own lunch on the first day and all the little drinks throughout the day.
The 7 am classes were free for hotel guests, and the last class wasn’t even taught by a retreat instructor. The breathwork and ice bath took place in my room, which was a surprise. Not all yoga classes were held in the yoga shala.
The schedule was too packed for one day, and there was almost nothing planned on the arrival and departure days. This retreat is not suitable for solo travelers as it takes place in a romantic hotel filled with couples, and all classes are private, which was not disclosed beforehand.
The retreat was too expensive for just one day of activities. I was disappointed not to hear back after expressing my concerns. I think the retreat could have been great if the information provided was accurate.
I loved the class with Dewie, as well as the breathwork and ice bath. They were truly amazing experiences. The hotel was nice, despite the humidity issues and construction nearby. The food was good, and the hotel staff were lovely.

July 27, 2023 at 12:00 amThis retreat is not what you’re looking for if you want a proper wellness or spiritual experience. The pictures don’t match up with the reality of the hotel – no one from Shakti was there managing activities. It was a nightmare, I felt like I was the one organizing everything between the hotel and the teachers. Communication was a mess and there was a lack of professionalism from Shakti.
When I arrived, I didn’t even know the hotel wasn’t directly organizing the retreat. They didn’t even know about my booking. The yoga class was held in the general areas of the hotel instead of in a studio. The owner of Shakti, Lila, didn’t handle the issues well and never reached out to apologize or offer a solution. It was overpriced for what you got.
Luckily, I was moved to a much nicer hotel with friendly people, beautiful location, and great food. The good parts of the experience were all thanks to the hotel, not the retreat itself.

July 20, 2023 at 12:00 amDon’t plan a yoga retreat at The Wakanda. The yoga room is situated next to the restaurant bar, so while you are trying to relax, you’ll hear all the noise from the bar and chatting customers. The hotel doesn’t cater to those looking for yoga and meditation, as it is filled with guests who aren’t interested in those classes.
The food at the restaurant is flavorless, and the rooms, while spacious, smell horrible like a mix of humidity and drains. The spa shares this unpleasant smell. Ironically, my room was the loudest, right in front of the noisy restaurant bar.
If you’re seeking quality yoga classes in a lovely setting, The Wakanda may still be worth considering. Lila, the yoga instructor, is fantastic and brings positive energy to her classes. The breathwork and ice bath session are amazing as well.
The yoga room itself is stunning, surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. The spa offers excellent massages in a lovely environment.

July 18, 2023 at 12:00 amI had an amazing stay with Shakti Wellness. Both instructors really connected with each of us and made sure to understand how they could help us on our own journeys. The sessions were just the right mix of relaxation and challenge, and I can’t wait to come back again.

August 23, 2022 at 12:00 amThe food didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I thought the prices were a bit high for what we got. The ambience was really peaceful. All the facilities were in good shape. The staff was friendly too.

August 18, 2022 at 12:00 amThere’s no dedicated yoga space here, this place is more like a hotel that offers services rather than a yoga retreat. So get ready for families and other travelers in a ‘not so zen’ headspace during your stay. People are coming and going at different times to fit their schedules. Although the yoga by the pool was nice, most classes are on a tight balcony that you can only access through your room. The pictures on the listing are not accurate. The room doesn’t have a fridge. The breathe workshop was fantastic though. The staff was really friendly and accommodating, and the teachers were great. The massage and zen walk were really enjoyable too.

July 18, 2022 at 12:00 amI absolutely loved it! Unfortunately, my candlelight meditation got cancelled but I didn’t feel like I missed out on anything. The location was so peaceful and away from the center of Ubud. The hotel, which is new and up and coming, had very friendly and helpful staff. The food was amazing, well balanced, and really tasty. The yoga practice and teaching were very good. And let me tell you, the massage was one of the best I’ve ever had! The Breathwork and Ice Bath experience was so interesting and unforgettable. I felt a real connection with Lila and Vena. All the teachers were really great. Short time retreats are a fantastic way to unwind and practice yoga without overwhelming yourself. Lila’s personal approach gives you all the attention you need. It was a wonderful experience overall!
