The food menu needs improvement. Overall, my training experience was good. The teachers were very knowledgeable, approachable, and communicative. The classes were well structured and took place in the school’s new location with good facilities, although some construction details still needed to be finished. The meals were provided by the accommodation staff under the supervision of the school teachers, who made adjustments when needed for a better menu.

When I arrived, I noticed that the pictures on the bookyogaretreats.com page didn’t reflect the new accommodation, as the school had recently moved to this location. After discussing this concern, it was understandable that they had just finished renovating the new place and were only now able to upload up-to-date pictures – we were the first training group at this location. Overall, it was a great personal experience.

The communication regarding the limited teaching staff was unclear. We were told that the original staff couldn’t attend due to Covid, but there wasn’t any clear communication. One instructor took on the entire curriculum except for the 8 hours of philosophy, which caused some missed classes. The communication about excursions was also poor, resulting in a disappointing part of the program. Personally, I was there for yoga training, which I received, and I had a good time planning my own outings and enjoying those experiences. However, I believe I would have had a more enriching learning experience with the planned faculty. On a positive note, the staff at Ubud Raya Shala went the extra mile to make our stay comfortable. The Bali spirit was incredible, with an abundance of grace, beauty, and joy all around. The Ubud area offered so much, and we planned several excursions to fully enjoy the area. We were met with great pride in Bali culture. The two teachers were highly skilled, and Ankar particularly excelled in anatomy and alignment. He met us at our skill level and guided us to new understandings. We had a substitute philosophy instructor who provided 8 hours of wonderful training under a difficult timeline, and he did an amazing job.

It would have been nice if they mixed up the schedule a bit every week, you know? Having anatomy, teaching methodology, and philosophy back to back can be mentally exhausting.
Oh, and here’s another idea: how about doing a beach class or having a class in a different location at least once a week? The beach class we had with Rohit last week was incredible. Practicing yoga in pairs in a new environment felt so refreshing. Definitely one of my favorite moments here.
I am so glad I chose Maa Shakti Yog for my yoga teacher training. The yoga classes were tough, but in a good way. As a beginner, it was definitely a challenge, but I feel much stronger because of it. Every teacher here is incredibly experienced and knowledgeable in their respective fields. I feel really lucky to have been taught by them. Honestly, they should win awards for their teaching skills. They pushed us to our limits and were always there to support us, both in and out of class.
They made sure we were well taken care of and enjoying our stay. Rohit went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time during our downtime. He planned excursions, took us to beautiful cafes and restaurants. He was so generous with his time, even outside of work hours. Both Rohit and Kanki treated us more like friends than just students.
They also brought a spiritual element to the course that was unexpected but really elevated the whole experience. Kanki is an amazing guide, especially in meditation. I never thought I would enjoy dynamic meditation so much. And Rohit? He’s incredible too. His cues really helped me understand the mysteries behind so many asanas, right from the first class.
Sumit, oh boy, he pushed me to my absolute limits, and I’m grateful for it, even if I wasn’t fully present in the moment! ?
If you’re considering doing your YTT, I highly recommend Maa Shakti Yog. Look no further, trust me.

Everything was perfect. Sumit and his team have been teaching Yoga in India for many years and now they are also providing top-quality Yoga Teacher Trainings in Bali. They offer the best knowledge and have extensive experience. The food (both vegan and vegetarian) was absolutely delicious. They had new and exciting dishes every day. The rooms were impeccably clean and we had a dedicated area solely for our Yoga Teacher Training. I highly recommend Maa Shakti Yog! I look forward to returning to India for the 300-hour license. Thank you so much, guys! I wish you all the best!
