Overview

For over a decade, YogaUnion has been offering yoga teacher training courses (YTTC’s) based on AshtangaVinyasa Flow. Their program is internationally accredited with Yoga Alliance. Ourania and Spyros, the original founders, fell in love with Bali and decided to make it their home. The training is held in Ubud, the cultural and yogic capital of Bali. The 200hr Vinyasa TTC is open to those who want to become yoga teachers or deepen their practice. The YogaUnion Shala is located in the ricefields, providing a magical setting for the training. Ourania and Spyros have used their extensive experience to create a challenging and transformative course. The training focuses on building confidence, developing skills and knowledge, understanding Vinyasa & Ashtanga practice, asana analysis and adjustment theory, and learning about methodology, theory, philosophy, anatomy/physiology, Ayurveda, nutrition, healing, rejuvenation, and the business aspect of yoga. Graduates of the course receive an internationally recognized certification by the Yoga Alliance.

How the training looks like

Each morning, we start with an hour of pranayama, meditation, and mantra chanting. This is followed by a Vinyasa flow class. In the early afternoons, we focus on deepening our understanding of asanas, with a strong emphasis on alignment, adjustments, and teaching methodology. The afternoons consist of theoretical lessons in Yoga Philosophy or Anatomy. We also explore restorative styles of yoga such as Yin, Hatha, Nidra, and specialized workshops. At YogaUnion, we maintain a high standard of teaching while keeping our classes fun and interactive. The program is designed to gradually develop teaching skills, starting from individual lessons and progressing to larger classes. Regular feedback is provided by teachers and fellow students to help improve your teaching style and voice. We cover various topics including teaching methodology and technique, principles of demonstration, observation and correction, instruction and teaching styles, and the business aspects of teaching yoga. We also focus on planning and structuring a class, alignment and hands-on adjustment, dealing with injuries and safety precautions, and the practice of pranayama.

Sample schedule

Here is a sample schedule for the training:

  • 07:00 – 08:00: Start the day with meditation, pranayama, and chanting mantras
  • 08:00 – 10:00: Participate in a Vinyasa practice
  • 10:00-11:00: Enjoy a nutritious breakfast

  • 15:00 – 16:45: Learn about anatomy or the philosophy of yoga
  • 17:00 – 18:30: Experience different styles of yoga lessons and receive guidance for creating your own lessons

I didn’t find anything lacking in the course, but I did think a lot about it. I wish the course could have been longer to allow more time for discussions and delving deeper into the philosophy with a group. Especially the teacher! They had a super authentic teaching style and were very knowledgeable. They always answered questions patiently and approached students with a loving and supportive attitude. I rarely come across teachers like this…

I loved the Shala and the location was amazing. I had a great time with the people I met during the course. The communication and organization were on point! I would definitely recommend this course and can’t wait to come back for YIN YTT level 2.

The place, the classes, the teachers, everything was amazing. I learned a lot about yoga, both in practice and theory. The teachers are very available and always ready to answer our questions.
However, if you don’t speak any English at all, this training is not for you as you need a minimum level of understanding.
    I highly recommend this training!

The Seminar blew me away! It was such a unique experience that I’ll never forget! I got to meet so many positive people and enjoy beautiful surroundings, not to mention the amazing food and the best instructors! Himanshu Bahuguna is absolutely incredible. His passion for yoga and teaching shines through every second of the training. I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to train with him in Europe. And Faye Balomenou was simply amazing! She provided unwavering support throughout the training and motivated us to bring out the best in ourselves. She has an impressive knowledge of Yoga Philosophy, and the Yoga Nidra experience I had with her during the Palairos seminar was the best ever! Trust me, I highly recommend this seminar! Don’t hesitate to book it! I’m already counting down the days until the 300-hour training. Namaste

The Anatomy teaching was all over the place and didn’t provide enough discussion on how it relates to different yoga poses. It would be better if they gave the exam right after the lecture, so we can use it during the training. Himanshu did an amazing job teaching Pranayama, Flow, and alignment.

From day 1, Himanshu and Faye made this journey unforgettable for us. They took care of everything, from the practical aspects to the theory and providing extra support whenever we needed it.

Spryos, with his absolute passion for anatomy, made learning information easy and fun. And he didn’t stop there, he continued to support us even after the training.

When our three teachers come together, the training experience becomes truly wholesome.

If you’re ever worried about not being prepared before or after the training, let me assure you that they will take care of those worries. They’ll make sure you feel completely ready.

And let’s not forget the amazing community we have here. We’re all here for the same reason and we support each other’s growth in our yoga practices. By the end of the training, you’ll be so excited to share this journey with such incredible people.

Lastly, the staff here is simply amazing. They’re kind, generous, and hard working. They always prioritize our comfort and make sure our stay is as enjoyable as possible.

To sum it all up, if you’re interested in yoga, this is an opportunity you won’t regret.

This training surpassed my expectations. Our teachers, Faye, Ippoliti, and Spyros, are incredibly passionate about what they do and they can effectively share their knowledge and love for yoga in a straightforward, detailed, and sometimes even fun way. Both the teachers and the hotel staff were extremely helpful with any concerns or questions I had during my stay at Kosta Maria. The three-week training is intense, but you won’t regret choosing it if you want to learn more about yoga and enhance your practice. You’ll learn so many new things and discover how far you can push yourself. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to connect with people from all around the world and elevate your practice together!

I suggest that the groups should have different age options, and personally, I would have preferred a group with people aged 30 and above. The yoga training was incredible, and it opened my eyes to the beauty of yoga in all its forms. The location was carefully chosen, as it was a small family-owned hotel where we felt at home in every way. The food was always fresh and delicious, and the staff treated us like family, showing us love and always being helpful. When I needed groceries, a staff member named Stella even took me to a nearby market, which was about a 25-minute walk away.

The training was physically and spiritually intense, and there were times when we all experienced emotional breakdowns. But thanks to our amazing instructors, we were able to grow each day. Faye and Ippo, our dear instructors, complemented each other perfectly with their Yin & yang teaching styles. Faye’s alignment classes and Ippo’s pranayama classes were truly unique and transformative. And even though we didn’t have as much time with him, our anatomy instructor, Sypros, was also exceptional. His passion for anatomy shone through, and he motivated us in many ways.

Overall, this experience was truly amazing for me personally, and I highly recommend it to anyone who has a love for yoga and the dedication to pursue it. ???

In June 2023, I completed my 200-hour vinyasa teacher training with YogaUnion in Ubud, Bali. It completely changed my life. The training was incredible, and I learned everything I wanted to know about yoga. The teachers were absolutely amazing, and I had the opportunity to connect with peers from all around the world. It was a transformative experience where I discovered a whole new level of self-awareness.

I have to give a special shout out to my lead teacher, Himanshu. He is hands down the best yoga instructor I’ve ever had. Himanshu’s knowledge of yoga, from asanas to pranayama and philosophies, is truly impressive. He has a wealth of experience in working with students of different backgrounds and skill levels. Not only is he an incredible teacher, but he is also incredibly passionate about what he does and always goes above and beyond to help his students.

You don’t just have to take my word for it. Many of my classmates feel the same way about Himanshu. He truly is the heart and soul of this training. We need more teachers like him in the world!

I was beyond impressed with this 200 hour Vinyasa YTT in Paleros. The instructor, Faye Balomenou, has an infectious enthusiasm for yoga and eagerly shares her wealth of knowledge. Her alignment classes were thorough and precise, demonstrating her expertise in teaching and adjustments. The practices were challenging and inspiring. Eleni Chantzara complements Faye perfectly with her thoughtful and valuable teachings in Pranayama and various workshops. She also leads beautiful flows with a gentle energy. Spyros Kapitsinos delivers original and captivating anatomy classes that keep you engaged, even after long and tiring practices. He empowers his students in their yoga practice and teaching by imparting knowledge of their own anatomy.

The location of the hotel is stunning, set just outside of Paleros town and boasting its own private beach a short walk away. If walking isn’t your thing, there’s also a pool. Everywhere you turn, there are breathtaking views of the sea and mountains. The combination of the upper and lower Shala’s, along with the scenery, creates a wonderful atmosphere for practicing yoga. The hotel staff is incredibly friendly, the rooms are spotless, and the food is fresh, varied, and delicious. Most dishes have a healthy or vegetarian twist on traditional Greek cuisine, although some may find it a bit heavy. Overall, I can wholeheartedly recommend this experience!

The food at the training was amazing! However, I have a few recommendations. It would be great to have more variety in the cereal and fruit options for breakfast. Personally, I prefer the porridge to have a thicker consistency rather than being soup-like. Also, instead of having stuffed bell peppers and tomatoes for the third time, it would be nice to have another dish.

I have to say, this yoga teacher training really exceeded my expectations. The teachers were absolutely fantastic. They showered us with their knowledge, dedication, and passion, making us feel like yoga had become a part of our very being. It was such a wonderful feeling. I came back home feeling like my true self, and I was even inspired to further my own practice and teach others, which I didn’t expect after just three weeks.

Of course, the journey to achieving these results was sometimes a rollercoaster of physical and psychological states. We were pushed to our limits in order to understand our capabilities and truly blossom, like every woman did in the end. Fay, our instructor, is like a diamond with so many different sides to her personality and teaching methods. She was critical when necessary, helping us truly understand what we were doing, but she also made us laugh like a bunch of chickens. Eleni, another teacher, has such a beautiful soul that it’s impossible not to want to learn her techniques for breathing and meditation. She presents it all in such an enticing way, making it easy to understand. And her yoga flows were challenging but incredibly rewarding.

Spyros, who taught anatomy, made the class interesting and logical by incorporating lots of humor. Surprisingly, I was able to easily remember the important topics for the exam. The KostaMaria Family and staff were all amazing. The food was delicious, and the rooms were impeccably clean. And let’s not forget, just 106 steps away was crystal clear water with a breathtaking view. You definitely have to experience it!

I recommend bringing your own yoga mat or a travel version to place over the existing mats. The YogaUnion training took place in the Earth shala located in the beautiful rice fields of Ubud. The accommodation was conveniently located right next to the shala, just 2 meters away. Although there wasn’t a pool on site, participants were able to use the pools at nearby locations where some of the others stayed.

The restaurant where we had all our meals was only a 3 minute walk away. The area also had some great spas and cafes, so there was always something different to try each day. While not every meal may have suited everyone’s taste, there was always something delicious available in the buffet.

My main teacher, Gourav, has extensive knowledge about yoga, pranayama, and aligning the asanas. He will prepare you excellently for becoming a yoga teacher. I also want to highlight our amazing anatomy teacher, Menik, who could answer all our questions and seamlessly connect anatomy information with yoga poses.

Laila, our philosophy teacher, has a unique energy and a soothing voice. She also offers a 50-hour yin yoga teacher training.

We had a variety of yoga classes including yin, restorative, acro, ashtanga, nidra, but our main focus was vinyasa. The classes were more geared towards intermediate level, but you’ll learn and grow stronger each day.

Our group consisted of 19 lovely participants who made the training enjoyable and truly special. I highly recommend it!

I loved everything, but sometimes the restaurant was too crowded, and they always ran out of food. It was frustrating. However, I really appreciated how everyone took such good care of us.

Himanshu is absolutely amazing with his knowledge. Even though there were 30 more people, he managed to take care of and teach each one of us. It was impressive.

Laila is such a loving and motivated person. She not only motivated me but also filled my soul with love.

Fabien was always there during the training, constantly helping me improve. I’m so grateful he was there with me. Sometimes, he would give me a look and say, “You can do it, Sherin.” It meant a lot to me.

Luca is like a ray of sunshine in our group. Whenever we had any problem, even personal ones, he was always there to protect and support us emotionally. His smile and positive energy kept us from feeling lonely.

Gustis Garden should be avoided as the rooms are filled with mould, which ruined my clothes and shoes. The price I paid for the accommodation was way too high. Luckily, I brought my own yoga mat because the ones provided were dirty and stained. The smell was unbearable! The Wi-Fi was incredibly weak and slow.

However, despite these setbacks, the training at Gustis Garden was absolutely amazing and unforgettable. I found a second family there. I am so grateful to have had Himanshu Bahuguna as my mentor and trainer. Thanks to him, I am now a certified yoga teacher and I know that the knowledge he shared will be invaluable throughout my yoga journey.

Last year, a friend recommended YogaUnion for my YTT and I am thrilled to have shared these three weeks with such beautiful souls. Thank you to the team at YogaUnion for being so professional, kind, and open-minded. I have learned so much from you all. This training has truly been life-changing for me. I will definitely be recommending YogaUnion to all my friends who are interested in YTT in Bali or Greece.

I am eagerly looking forward to the 300-hour YTT next year with YogaUnion and I will continue to follow Himanshu wherever he teaches. Thank you again and hopefully, I’ll see you all very soon! ?????

Unfortunately, I had some uncomfortable experiences with the location. The place didn’t match what I had seen in the videos and photos on the site for the past five years, specifically the rice fields. It turns out that it wasn’t a new venue, and it wasn’t clearly communicated that this was an alternative location used when the first one was fully booked.

It would be helpful in the future if they inform guests that there are three venues to choose from, allowing us to change our arrival if we have a preference for a specific one, like the rice fields instead of the down rabbit hole.

I also had a privacy issue with a neighbor, but fortunately, Ourania (the owner of Yoga Union) was very considerate and is taking steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again in the future.

Aside from those issues, the place itself is nice, with new bedrooms, and the staff is very kind. The instructors, in particular, have an impressive level of knowledge and a good attitude. They always asked if we had any questions and made sure we had all the information we needed.

I want to give a special thank you to Marina and Anna Viktoria for their amazing classes filled with kindness, love, and enthusiasm. You both will always have a special place in my heart. I also want to thank Gourav and Laila, who are exceptional and highly skilled teachers. And lastly, a big thank you to Menik, my amazing anatomy teacher. Your enthusiasm made us fall in love with fascia and tendons, haha.

People with varying levels of yoga experience might not get the most benefit from the training because instructors are required to slow down their teaching. This could also be a problem in other yoga teacher training programs.
Some of the sessions, like Kriya and Cacao ceremony, are not relevant to me. I prefer yoga workshops that focus on skills that will directly impact my practice and teaching. The instructors are knowledgeable and patient, and the accommodations are excellent. The meals are fantastic, and the staff is incredibly friendly. The yoga workshops are top-notch. The Teacher Training program went above and beyond my expectations. Although I was fairly new to Yoga, I have to admit that the tight and packed schedule posed some challenges at times. However, it was truly amazing to witness my gradual growth in both my yoga practice and personal development.

Yoga goes beyond just physical exercise, as I learned during our Philosophy classes. It was eye-opening to start implementing the Yogic lifestyle into my daily life off the mat.

My accommodation in the rice fields was simply delightful and clean. Plus, it was only a few minutes away from the shala, where we practiced. The food provided at the restaurant was incredibly delicious.

I strongly recommend this experience to anyone looking to delve deeper into Yoga, even if becoming a teacher isn’t their goal.

It didn’t quite meet my expectations, as we were promised a different yoga teacher along with Himansu, but we didn’t receive that. I also signed up for other styles of yoga like Tantra, Yin, and pregnancy yoga, but apart from a one-time class, we weren’t fully educated on these different styles to teach them in our own practice. The course focused on asana and the mind, but it lacked soul and leadership skills. We had a challenging group who were opinionated and sometimes rude, like falling asleep in class, lying down during meditation, or using their phones. There wasn’t a proper leader to address this behavior. It felt like the course was a trial run to test if they could do a 300-hour program. I would have been satisfied if I knew this beforehand and if the price was lower. Also, the accommodation, food, and individual teachers were okay.

I had trouble figuring out what to include on my resume when I applied for teaching positions. I didn’t know much about yoga alliance or the logistics of working in a studio, like whether I needed liability insurance. I really wanted to learn about these things. The hotel staff and everyone working there were incredibly nice, friendly, and helpful. The folks at yoga union worked tirelessly to create a unique and beautiful experience. They took care of everything, and for three weeks, I had zero stress! The food was incredible, and the instructors were top-notch.

Chris brought us to an amazing class experience at a resort with live music. It was so cool! He taught in a way that was easy to follow and engage with, and he’s just a super fun and chilled guy. The food and cafe area at the resort were absolutely lovely!
The surrounding area was fantastic. It was so calming to be surrounded by rice fields, and there were even two massage places nearby!
I stayed in a beautiful home stay for accommodation, and it was absolutely lovely.

The groups were too big. There were two groups with around 30 students in each. I wished they were smaller so that we could have a stronger connection with our teacher and they could have more opportunities to correct us and help us in our progress. The yoga teachers were amazing. Faye, Eleni, Alex, and Ippo were incredibly knowledgeable and always available for us. I was also extremely grateful for Angela, who worked so hard and spread so much love and positive energy to all of us. The staff at Kosta Maria were incredibly kind and took care of each and every one of us. It’s not easy to cook for a large number of people with various allergies and dietary preferences, but they always managed to provide fresh and delicious meals. Great job!

I absolutely didn’t like the philosophy classes, and I didn’t love the alignment methodology either. It was also disappointing that they advertised a 30-person instructor training and then had two groups of 30 people at the same time. It was overwhelming, and I believe smaller groups create a different atmosphere. I did enjoy the opportunity to explore another country and its incredible beaches. The quality of the vinyasa classes was excellent, but the learning methodology left something to be desired at times. The food was delicious and local, which was unexpected but pleasantly surprised me. What I valued the most was the group of people I was with.

I really liked the course and my time there, but I do have a few small critiques:

    – Getting away from the hotel was sometimes difficult, mainly because of the infrastructure in Palairos.
    – The food was good, and they accommodated lactose-free/vegan diets. However, the signage and selections were sometimes a bit strange, so they just need to practice more and come up with more varied dishes.
    – I would have liked more opportunities to practice our own sequences, but I understand that there wasn’t much time for it considering how much we needed to learn in a short period.
    – It would have been great if the course was a couple of days longer, with less time spent on exams and more time dedicated to each of our personal flows. But I understand that this may not be possible in real life, especially when compared to other 200-hour courses I looked at.
    – The planning wasn’t always perfect, and there were times when we didn’t receive information or received it late. However, everything still worked out in the end.
    – Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience. I was very happy to embark on this yoga journey. The course was intense, and I learned a lot, just as I had expected. I really enjoyed the friendly staff at Kosta Maria, and the location was beautiful.
    – I had many expectations before the course, and I’m glad to say that most of them were fulfilled:
    – I hoped for physically challenging training, and it definitely was!
    – I wanted to learn a holistic view of yoga, and there was a good variety of perspectives presented.
    – I expected the course to be intense and focused, and it did put a lot of mental pressure on me. But I’m still happier that I did it in a short time instead of over a year.
    – I didn’t want it to be too spiritual, and they struck a good balance by introducing us to spiritual aspects without pressuring us into things like chanting.
    – I also wanted to understand myself better, and I can confidently say that I really do now.
    – I feel incredibly grateful for all the knowledge I have gained.

The chefs made the food with love, but it just didn’t meet our expectations. We didn’t have any fresh juices and there was very little fresh fruit. The meals in general were not that great. The menu had too much processed soya and not enough variety in vegetables, so it wasn’t very balanced. If they had been a bit more creative with the menu, it would have made all the difference.
But I have to say, the instructors were fantastic and you couldn’t ask for a better location.

Gourrav was the only instructor I didn’t like at the Yoga Union. He tries hard and has good intentions, but his communication skills are nearly nonexistent. I’m not sure if he struggles to express himself or if he just isn’t good at speaking. His Pranayam and vinyassa classes really annoyed me because he kept using the same words over and over again. And it was disappointing when he graded our final practical exams instead of Himanshu because his feedback was so poorly delivered and didn’t reflect the actual class.

He’s not on the same level as the other instructors at Yoga Union. I also didn’t find the workshops on children’s yoga and prenatal yoga very beneficial. Itta, the teacher, is a lovely person but not a good instructor. Her classes had no structure, and it felt like she was just making things up as she went along. I would have preferred to learn more about yogic philosophy or have an ayurvedic clinician come in to talk about doshas or yogic diets.

Despite these drawbacks, I’m really grateful for this experience. The teachers were passionate, knowledgeable, and engaging. I learned so much about yogic philosophy, history, anatomy, alignment, and teaching structure. The shala was beautiful, and I actually liked the large class size. We had two classes happening at the same time, which meant there were always new people to meet. One had around 30 students and the other had 18. Just a small note: the Fire shala had a nicer space than the Earth shala, so I recommend requesting to be in the Fire group.

Everyone at Yoga Union was amazing – from the housekeepers to the shala cleaners to the cooks. They were all so thoughtful, generous, and kind. The rice fields where we lived and practiced were incredibly beautiful. And let’s not forget about the food! Oh, I’ll miss it so much. They served a perfect mix of Indonesian and global dishes, and as a vegan, I couldn’t have been happier.

Sometimes, we would experience some organizational hiccups. The communication regarding transportation or scheduling could sometimes be a bit disorganized or delayed. We would often rely on word-of-mouth to get important information, and the only means of communication was through WhatsApp. If you didn’t use WhatsApp, then you would miss out on crucial information.

Surprisingly, some people were not informed that they would be living off-campus when they booked. Personally, if I had known I would have to live off-campus, I would not have wanted to take the course.

In my opinion, there were moments when more attention should have been given to the physical well-being of the students. Not everyone was prepared for all the yoga poses we attempted, and there were a few minor injuries.

During my stay, there were about 40 students split into two groups, and mine had 21 students. However, I was told that some months, groups can be as large as 35 students. The size of our group was fine, but it definitely shouldn’t have been any bigger.

Personally, I would have liked to have a more extensive education in anatomy, sequencing, teaching methodology, and especially philosophy. It’s important to note that this course only provided an introduction to these topics. The experiences varied greatly between the two groups because of the teachers’ personal styles and teaching methodologies. Overall, I think there should have been more alignment between the teachers.

Having said all that, I had a fantastic experience and would definitely do it again! The curriculum covered a wide range of subjects, including anatomy, philosophy, alignment, and of course, practicing yoga. I appreciated the holistic approach. The theoretical lessons were sometimes taught with everyone sitting on the floor, which was tiring at first. But the combination of theory and practice was perfect for exploring and delving deeper into the concepts.

The quality of the teachers was good and was appreciated by everyone. However, it’s worth mentioning that the teachers aren’t disclosed when you book, so you may be surprised to find out who will be teaching during your month.

The staff at the Kosta Maria hotel were incredibly kind and accommodating. They were always ready to help and had a great sense of humor. You made my experience very special! The food was delicious, and I enjoyed the regular meal times and the high standards of cleanliness. Plus, my room had an amazing view of the ocean.

Lastly, I was blown away by the other students. They were caring, kind, and always friendly. It was a pleasure to be around this community, as they were always willing to help whenever needed.

The food could have had more variety and it felt like we were eating the same 5 or 6 recipes repeatedly. Sometimes, the food was too salty or sweet for my taste, but not everyone felt the same way. I guess it’s just a matter of personal preference. Before I booked the training, I spent a lot of time reading reviews from former students and I was skeptical. It sounded too good to be true. But this training completely changed my life. I wasn’t completely sure about becoming a yoga teacher before, but now I can’t imagine doing anything else. Yoga makes me happier and more connected to my true self than anything else.
We were really lucky to have such an amazing group of students. Everyone genuinely cared about each other from day one. We spent three weeks in a loving and supportive environment where we could fully dedicate ourselves to our practice. I made friends for life and I feel incredibly fortunate for that!
About the teachers (Rachel and Ippoliti aka Ippo or Ippopo or Chop Chop), they exceeded my expectations. I’ll remember their teaching and their personalities for the rest of my life, without a doubt. They didn’t just teach us what we needed for the exam, they also shared their experiences as yogis and human beings, inspiring me in countless ways.
Before the training, I had only been introduced to asana and pranayama. But learning about philosophy, anatomy, and alignment helped me deepen my practice so much more. I feel like I have so much more to learn about yoga and a lifetime won’t be enough to explore it all.
Many thanks to Kostas and his family who made this training even more special! I love them.

The people in my training group were the issue, not the training or the teachers. Many of them were judgmental, closed-minded Westerners who only saw yoga as a workout and ignored the spiritual aspect. They weren’t open-minded or accepting, and there were lots of little cliques and gossip. I really wish we had accepted everyone and created a big group where everyone was treated equally. I didn’t enjoy it much, but I managed to ignore it. Maybe it was also because there were too many people in the Fire group. I wish we had known beforehand that there would be 30+ people in one group. Also, during lessons, only the same dominant people kept asking questions, making it harder for quieter people to benefit from the lessons. So it really depends on your personality; if you’re extroverted, you may thrive more in this type of environment. I didn’t like the food either, as the vegan option left me very hungry. Often, there wasn’t enough protein available, and some meals had no protein at all. However, the teachers and the training itself were amazing. Even though we only learned how to plan 30-minute lessons, we will be able to use this knowledge to create hour-long lessons, but we have to do it on our own time.

Me and 6 other students out of a total of 30 were not staying at the designated accommodation. Instead, we were placed somewhere else, which was a 5-minute car ride or a 20-minute walk away. Personally, I didn’t mind staying elsewhere. The only downside was that our daily transportation to the main accommodation was hardly ever on time, resulting in us sometimes having to walk and arrive to class late.

Furthermore, the training was advertised as Vinyasa/Ashtanga, but I felt it was more focused on just Vinyasa. Although they did incorporate various yoga styles like Yin, Restorative, and Yoga Nidra. Overall, my experience at YogaUnion was fantastic. The instructors, Ippoliti, Rachel, and Eleni, were all incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The classes were educational, and the teachers were always available for questions. The staff at the accommodation were also caring and attentive. The meals provided were always delicious! What I loved the most:
-The location was absolutely stunning. The shala was nestled amidst peaceful ricefields, giving it a serene atmosphere. Plus, it was isolated enough to provide a sense of calm, yet close to Ubud city center, which was fantastic for food and shopping.
-The teachers, Fay, Himanshu, and Spyros, were all incredible. They really pushed us physically during vinyasa practice, and their humor played a vital role in helping us remember important things. It was intense for three weeks, but I had a blast!

If you decide to come during the winter, just remember that Greece can get quite cold. So make sure to pack some extra layers and warm clothes. Now, let me tell you about my amazing experience with my teacher training in Palairos.

Faye, our yoga teacher, is absolutely incredible. She knows her stuff and teaches in a straightforward way. She’s super clear about what she believes in and gives great feedback. She really pushes everyone to be their best selves.

Laila is such a gentle soul and has so much knowledge about breath work, meditation, yin and nidra yoga. But she’s also great at breaking down those tricky arm balancing poses. Together, Faye and Laila created the perfect balance.

And let’s not forget Jonas, our anatomy teacher. I loved his classes! He has a special talent for explaining complex subjects in a way that’s easy to understand. If you have Jonas for anatomy, you’re in for a treat. Just be prepared for his dry humor, haha.

I want to say thank you to Faye, Laila, and Jonas for an unforgettable and educational teacher training. I learned so much and I’ll be forever grateful.

Now, let me tell you about the place we stayed in Palairos called ‘foodpath’. It’s only a 5-minute walk from the beach and surrounded by beautiful mountains. It’s a truly authentic Greek place and it’s absolutely gorgeous. The food there is so diverse and always made with fresh produce. It tasted amazing! Adonis and Elli, the hosts, really put love into every dish. They were always there for us and took care of everything. I can’t thank them enough for opening their home to us and making it feel like our own.

I definitely recommend coming here for your teacher training. It’s been an incredible experience.

I finally asked and paid for a double room, but I ended up in a triple room. However, despite this issue, the whole experience was great in the end.

Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, they didn’t provide any props for Yin Yoga alignments. It’s a shame because it would have been helpful to have them. It would be better if they improved communication about this, so students can bring their own props.

But overall, my experience at YogaUnion was awesome. The teachers and instructors were of high quality and very professional. We expected the accommodation in Greece to be more comfortable, but it didn’t meet our expectations. Our room had numerous centipedes and other insects because the door didn’t close properly, leaving a small gap at the bottom. On top of that, there was no washing machine or closet for us. They also didn’t clean the bathroom rubbish bin daily as they promised; it only happened once a week. It was frustrating because they asked us to throw our used toilet paper in that bin. Additionally, the food they cooked was very repetitive, and sometimes there wasn’t enough for everyone. Despite these issues, the teacher training itself was amazing! It’s just a shame that the accommodation couldn’t match up.

I wouldn’t change anything except for the food, which could be more varied. But I understand that cooking for 20 girls with different dietary restrictions must have been tough! This three-week intensive course has been the most magical experience of my life so far. Everything was absolutely amazing: the place, a very authentic Greek village; the hostel and the family who runs it, they were lovely people always ready to help and make sure we had everything we needed; the instructors, Fay, Spyros, and Ourania, were wonderful human beings who went above and beyond their duties; the shala and the breathtaking view; the yoga and meditation classes and workshops…I could keep going. I’m so grateful I decided to join the Yoga Union Bali family on this journey, and I’m so excited for all the things to come. Rarely have I felt so connected with life, nature, and people. Thank you so much for everything you did for us. I’ll always carry you in my heart, along with the other 19 amazing girls I had the chance to meet and now call family. I’m sure we’ll meet again, because positive energy attracts positive people!

I would have preferred a more regimented mark scheme and feedback form for the final flow. It would have been beneficial to receive feedback from two teachers instead of just one. It would have been better to receive written feedback with different criteria such as structure, voice, atmosphere, adjustments, and teaching skills.

The location was amazing, just 5 minutes away from the Shala and away from the beach. The teaching quality was outstanding and I learned so much. A big thanks to Faye, who was incredible. Ourania was also an amazing teacher and Spyros was so helpful and kind. The food and accommodation exceeded my expectations.

These three weeks were some of the best in my life. I highly recommend doing this program, even if you’re unsure. Don’t worry about not being good enough because everyone comes in with the same feeling. It doesn’t matter! Initially, I wasn’t planning on teaching afterwards, but I loved the teaching aspect and fell even more in love with yoga. Now, I want to start teaching and prepare for my 300-hour certification.

I also had the opportunity to meet so many amazing people. Everyone was friendly and lovely.

The food could have had more variety, but it still tasted good. Our shala was really crowded, and I wish we could have practiced in a bigger space. The whole experience of the location, activities, and people I met there was simply life-changing. Nicol was an incredible teacher who taught me so much about my body and overcoming obstacles. I eagerly looked forward to every morning of pranayama and meditation with Kati, who helped me better understand and love myself. I appreciated having a large group of people in the course because it allowed me to build a global network and see different levels of strength and flexibility, as well as the challenges people may face.

I really wish I could give a 100% good review, but our philosophy instructor just didn’t have confidence in the material she was teaching. She only spent about 2-3 days on the testable stuff and then completely abandoned it for some exercises where we wandered around smelling flowers and touching rocks. She didn’t encourage questions, went off topic a lot, and let some people talk more than others. It was super frustrating because we were supposed to pass an exam on solid information. Personally, I asked her to focus on the exam material and she basically said there was no way to cover it in just eight days and asked me how I expected her to do it. I didn’t think that was a suitable response from an instructor. None of us really felt ready when the exam rolled around, so a lot of us had to cram philosophy.

It would’ve been nice to get the manual in a pdf format before the training so we could have studied ahead of time. Reading the recommended books helped, but I think they should have been mandatory so we all could have come to training fully prepared. The retreat in Bali was a mix of work and fun, so if we had more opportunity to get some work done beforehand, it would’ve made the retreat a lot easier to just enjoy. Now, our alignment classes were absolutely amazing. Learning alignment from Himanshu was such an honor. He’s a dedicated, energetic, and skilled instructor. He knows his stuff inside and out and is really passionate about teaching yoga. Himanshu taught our class all the important alignment techniques for yoga positions and gave us practical knowledge on how to use yoga. He really pushed me and the whole class to do our best. Throughout the 23-day course with him, my strength, stamina, and flexibility improved so much. I was even able to try new poses that I never thought I could do before. We started teaching right away, which made me feel really prepared for my final demo. Himanshu took it slow and made sure we understood everything step by step. He’s also great at guiding us through the more subtle aspects like breathwork. By the end of the course, I was able to go much deeper in my meditation and pranayama. He truly equipped me to be a better yoga practitioner.

The 108 sun solution is a terrible practice for this course – it left a lot of students feeling broken and exhausted. Personally, I shouldn’t have done it at all. Thankfully, our yoga teacher was positive and knowledgeable about the subject. Jones, the anatomy teacher, was excellent.

I loved everything about my experience with YogaUnion in Bali. From the amazing people to the beautiful location, it was all perfect. The yoga practice was excellent, and the teachers were very thorough. One thing that stood out to me were the alignment classes where we spent two hours each day analyzing each posture. It was a great opportunity for discussion, demonstration, and practice.

If you’re considering a Yoga Teacher Training in Bali, I highly recommend YogaUnion. I did extensive research and visited multiple trainings, and nothing compares to what they have to offer.

Make sure to book early and request to join the rice fields group if there’s availability. And I have to mention our incredible organizer, Ourania. Her energy and kindness are indescribable.

The last week consists of classes taught by students for evaluation, but we budgeted to have yoga lessons with qualified teachers to learn.
To get corrected, you need to call the teachers, they don’t come on their own.
I was clearly told that if I didn’t pay by this afternoon, I would have to leave immediately!
Make sure to understand English perfectly even though the website says it’s accessible to everyone!
The diploma ceremony is very minimal. A beautiful enriching adventure.
    Beautiful surroundings.

    Great connections.

The food at the Mansion was disappointing for me because I have been a vegan for a while. They didn’t have many protein and complex carb options, which was tough for us students studying and doing demanding yoga practices. There wasn’t much variety either, which got boring after being there for 3 weeks. YogaUnion did try to address these issues with the Mansion Hotel, so hopefully they will improve for future trainings. Overall, I really loved the 200 YTT with YogaUnion! The teachers were passionate and knowledgeable, especially our main teacher Nikol. She was amazing at teaching everything from asana alignment to vinyasa flow. Her energy was contagious and she really shone in her element. She is truly dedicated to her craft and has a kind heart. We all learned a great deal from her.

After the third week, we started to notice that the food was getting a bit repetitive, but it was still tasty.

In classes, the teachers should ask someone from the retreat to demonstrate the “example” no matter the student’s level, instead of always choosing the most flexible or strongest yogi. This way, everyone can see how the teacher corrects or guides the student into the asana. We are more likely to teach beginners or intermediate students in the future, rather than those who already know everything. Yoga is not about comparing ourselves to others. Some yogis were disappointed to always see the same advanced student demonstrating the asana.

I hope this feedback will be considered for future retreats. Despite this, I really enjoyed the retreat and highly recommend it. The location is amazing in the middle of the rice fields! The shala and restaurant were fantastic, with the breakfast being the best meal – so many fruits, muesli, homemade coconut yogurt, and sometimes pancakes and French toast. Everyone was really friendly, and I had a wonderful time. It was truly a life-changing experience, and it was also cheaper than with other organizations. 🙂

I’m not picky about food, but it was really bad, with the same dishes regularly. The food is vegetarian but not healthy. I strongly advise against enrolling in this course if you don’t speak English well. There’s a lot of theory and philosophy to understand for the rest of the course. Personally, I don’t speak English well and I don’t understand it very well either. I tried the experience but it was very difficult because I had to do double work (translate my manuals into French). The yoga classes were great with an extraordinary and very professional teacher. I loved practicing with all the teachers who are all very humble. I would recommend arriving 2 days before the course starts to help with jet lag and adjusting to the weather. It’ll make the experience much smoother for you. And if you can, stay at least a week after to explore the island/Gili/Nusa Penida. The course is intense, so having that extra time to relax and explore will be worth it.

The teachers were amazing with their knowledge in asana, anatomy, and philosophy. I learned a lot and felt the passion and care they put into teaching, especially Aaka and Spyros. The daily asana and vinyasa classes were top-notch, thanks to Nikol and Himanshu.

The accommodation at Mansion Resort was like a dream come true, especially for honeymooners. I splurged on a double room and it was totally worth it. The staff was friendly, the rooms were cleaned daily, and the Shalas where we did yoga were stunning.

Just a heads up, you won’t be staying in town, but there’s a free shuttle a few times a day or you can grab a taxi for £8. Scooter hire is also available nearby.

The food was good, especially for vegetarians like me. The only thing missing was a coffee supply in the afternoon, but the café had iced coffee for £3.50 if you need a pick-me-up.

I wish we had more moments of silence during training so we could focus on our inner yogic journey. The training felt kind of shallow, just transferring information. I suggest incorporating silent days at the start or every morning before breakfast. This way, students can meditate, do pranayama, and practice asanas while truly understanding the essence of yoga, instead of thinking it’s just a workout. Himanshu, our teacher, did a great job making classes engaging and challenging. He shared his wisdom in a way that allowed us to take away what resonated with us. I’m grateful for the amazing other teachers too, for all that I learned from them.

I wish we had started with an introduction for all participants to hear everyone’s names at least once, maybe through some little games or activities!

In anatomy class, we learned that you can build strength quickly, but tendons and ligaments need more time to adjust. I would have appreciated if the teachers reminded us to slow down and listen to our bodies. Instead, it felt like we were constantly pushed to achieve the perfect pose, which led to more than half of the class sustaining injuries. It didn’t seem healthy, and I wished for more adaptability on some days.

I expected more guidance and adjustments for beginners in the Yoga Union training program. The philosophy class dove straight into deep discussions without laying a basic foundation, making it difficult to follow especially for non-native English speakers. I don’t feel like I have a good understanding of yoga philosophy due to the unstructured approach to teaching the subject.

Despite these challenges, I enjoyed the positive atmosphere created by the teachers, trainees, and Karmayogis. The schedule, food (although more fruit variety would be nice), location, training structure, alignment focus, early teaching opportunities, international mix of participants, special events like the cacao ceremony and silent walk, and the teachers’ dedication and passion were all highlights for me.

I didn’t love the philosophy classes, mainly because we didn’t have much time to discuss all the yoga concepts in depth. The teachers did try to review the key terms and concepts with us for exams, though. I believe in the importance of future yoga instructors being able to do more than just memorize concepts like chakras, doshas, and gunas – they should also be able to critically analyze yoga philosophy. Unfortunately, that discussion was lacking or didn’t feel like a safe space to share thoughts (talking specifically about the philosophy classes).

The food didn’t really excite me after two weeks.

But overall, these are minor issues compared to all the other amazing things that exceeded my expectations in a positive way! This retreat was truly fantastic and one-of-a-kind. It’s hard to go back home after spending three weeks in such a different and incredible environment. Spyros and Ourania have created a loving, nurturing space for yogis and future teachers. They are truly inspiring instructors. And having Himanshu in our morning practices was a blessing – his passion for yoga and teaching style pushed me to become stronger every week. I learned so much from all of them. Each teacher brought their own unique flair to the Shala. Being in the rice fields felt like being on a whole other planet. I cherished every moment there! Food becomes repetitive. Not everyone gets the same accommodations, which I didn’t realize at first. Some people stay in fancy resorts, while others stay in the rice fields. There’s a wide range of accommodations available. I wish they had focused more on spirituality and personal growth, as they claim to do. Despite that, it was a life-changing experience for me. So, I can overlook these minor issues considering how amazing it was.

One thing to note is that the group is usually pretty big, around 30 people or so. We all became like a family. But if you prefer smaller, more intimate groups, this retreat may not be the best fit for you. Personally, I do better in smaller groups and wish there had been fewer people for more personalized attention. However, the quality of the retreat is outstanding, which is why so many people flock to it! You won’t regret it. I stayed in the rice fields and it was such a beautiful and peaceful setting for my yoga teacher training.

The training itself was intense but incredibly rewarding. It’s important to know that it requires a lot of hard work. The teachers, for the most part, are superbly educated and caring. They genuinely want to help you become the best yoga teacher you can be. The food was pretty good overall, although it did get a bit repetitive towards the end. The ladies who cooked the meals were so sweet. I absolutely loved this experience and wouldn’t change a thing about it, honestly!

I had an amazing journey at YogaUnion! The teachers at the Shala in the rice fields are so lovely and knowledgeable about yoga. I loved every single day. The place is so beautiful and magical. Throughout the three weeks, the whole group and the teachers became a big family. I learned so much about yoga and also about myself – what I really want in life. I already miss it.

The teachers varied in their standards of teaching, but overall, they were generally good. Since I already had a fairly advanced physical practice, I felt that the course focused more on less experienced yogis. The anatomy and philosophy lessons seemed better suited for beginners. The location and accommodation at Ubud Nirwa Karma were excellent. The food was simple yet delicious. The shala was fantastic, and the overall infrastructure of the place was very well-designed. If you’re looking for a self-development trip, this course is a great choice, especially if you’re a beginner.

I read in every review that the food is repetitive and standard. Honestly, you don’t need a lot of variety with the physical stress you put your body through every day. It was just what my body needed after 2 hours of daily vinyasa. I’m thrilled I chose this course. I searched through probably thousands in different countries and this one far exceeded my expectations. It was really tough. They suggest reading a few books before coming, so do it. They recommend having a yoga routine beforehand, so make sure to do that. I did a little bit, but 3 weeks wasn’t enough. There was so much information, but once you conquer it, it’s incredibly rewarding. The group I was with was amazing. We became a family and it was beautiful. We laughed, we cried, I even got some bruises… but it was all worth it. For such an affordable price, it’s so much more than you would expect. Nikki was an outstanding instructor. She pushed us enough to see what we were capable of and we truly surprised ourselves. Spyros was the best anatomy instructor. He is so passionate! Thank you, Yoga Union for an incredible experience!

I absolutely loved everything at Yogaunion. I had a bit of a tough time learning philosophy at first, but once I dove deeper into it, things fell into place and became so fascinating. The love, care, fun, food, room, and classes were all beyond my expectations. I wish everyone could have this kind of experience! Himanshu made the classes fun and informative, and Ourania and Spyros were amazing. Ourania’s power and peace were truly inspiring, giving me hope, while Spyros made anatomy easier to understand with his down-to-earth approach. The school is challenging with lots of studying and homework, but it’s definitely worth all the hard work. I will definitely visit again; it felt like a home away from home. I loved everything about the training. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to visit the main union yoga shala in the ricefields because I was in the mansion resort group. The closing ceremony is also nicer and more authentic there. The resort could be noisy at times since our shala was near the pool area, which wasn’t ideal for certain classes. But overall, the resort is very nice! The teachers are amazing. They teach you all you need to know about Asanas, alignment, variation, and the benefits of it all with a serious love and commitment to yoga. It’s tough but caring love for all the students. I am grateful to Nikole, our main teacher, for all the effort, patience, and care she put into teaching us. Spiros and Ourania are wonderful too and really build a great yoga community here. It’s a lot of information to take in during 3 weeks, so make sure to rest and clear your mind in between classes to absorb it all and prepare for the exam. The teaching structure starts right away, and you gradually build your flow and teach each other. It’s an intense physical, mental, and emotional experience, but truly amazing as you grow into a yogi family. I will always be thankful I did this! Namaste.

I absolutely loved this course. The location, right in the center of the rice fields, was amazing. The guest house where I stayed exceeded all expectations. And the vegetarian food we were provided three times a day during the training was delicious.

The instructors were top-notch. Himanshu is an incredible yoga teacher (seriously, one of the BEST I’ve ever had) who motivated all of us to push ourselves and reach our full potential. Ourania and Spyros, who taught alignment and anatomy, were incredibly knowledgeable and fantastic teachers. They gave the clearest instructions and explanations. All three of them were kind, genuine, and compassionate. They made sure each of us was happy, healthy, and able to focus solely on yoga during the training.

Throughout the course, we practiced different styles of yoga including yin, vinyasa, ashtanga, and hatha. Each morning, we explored various types of pranayama and meditation. The workshops were a game-changer as they helped most participants improve their practice instantly. People were mastering headstands, arm balances, and back bends faster and more safely than ever before.

I highly recommend this training. It transformed my practice and my life. I hope to return to beautiful Ubud one day to experience even just a bit of it again.

I loved staying in the rice fields! However, I didn’t realize there was an option to stay at the mansion until I arrived and saw the groups were already split. It would be better if they told us about the options when we booked. Overall, coming for yoga teacher training was the best decision I’ve ever made. Bali has a magical energy that helps release negativity. Ourania and Himanshu, along with everyone else I met, made this experience transformative. It’s a peaceful place where you can be yourself but never feel alone. The training is tough and challenges you physically and emotionally, but with a supportive group, you know you can push through. I recommend revising the training book a bit to correct mistakes and add missing postures. Otherwise, everything is perfect. The ricefield yoga shala is like a dream. Every little detail surrounding the place is unique. (Yoga Union offers different classes in Bali, and we were in the ricefield group, which I think was the best choice for me). The remote location away from busy Ubud, the sounds of nature, birds, and sometimes the silence, the pathway to our beautiful shala, the restaurant 308 where Ayung’s chef, Putu, and Yoga (yes, that’s his name!) served us every day. At night, the fireflies and the starry sky made it magical.
We were all staying in little hotels along the pathway, like neighbors in a small village. My hotel, Nirwa Ubud Karma, was very comfortable. I have no complaints.
The owners of Yoga Union, Ourania and Spyros (probably the cutest couple you’ll ever see), perfectly embody the definition of love. They not only share love with each other but also with their students. Feeling loved and supported by them during this intense training was incredibly important and comforting. The whole training team – Himanshu, Jonas, Saavas, Juan Carlos, Florence, and the help of Pablo – were all professional and competent.
I’m so glad I chose this training to learn how to teach and share Yoga. It was the perfect course for me. Thank you again to the teachers and students of the August session for making this training such a beautiful and unforgettable experience.

At first, I wasn’t sure about doing a Yoga training, but the three weeks with my fellow Yogis, the teachers, and the magic of Bali showed me it was the right decision. So, if you’re still on the fence about booking a retreat, go for it!

I always felt like I was in a safe space. The teachers were professional, experienced, patient, and showed great understanding for us students. I especially enjoyed the challenging Vinyasa classes with Savvas and the fascinating anatomy lessons with Jonas. I feel like I didn’t get the full 50 hours of Yin training. The restorative course I took before was really intense compared to this one. It felt more like a mix of a retreat and a training course. The morning meditation and afternoon practices were nice, but they weren’t really focused on Yin.

I have to admit, as much as I hate to say it because everyone was so nice, the food was terrible 🙁 Vasso did a great job teaching us about Yin yoga though. Her training was top-notch.

I wish there had been more fruit at lunch and dinner.

I would have liked smaller groups for the final lessons because the classes were overwhelming.

Some accommodations were better than others, like having water in the rooms or kettles. But the shala in the rice fields was absolutely magical! Ourania, Spyros, and their team have created a paradise oasis. They are so warm and welcoming that you feel like family from day one.

The instructors were all amazing, from beginner to advanced levels. They really build your confidence, even if you’re new to teaching. I’ve already started training clients with ease, something I never thought I could do.

The walk to the shala along the lane was a memorable experience, where I sometimes walked barefoot. The meals were substantial, and the ginger lemongrass tea was a nice touch.

The schedule allowed for a good balance of classes and downtime. It’s helpful to read a bit of the training manual each day instead of cramming at the end. And it’s okay to take breaks during the long classes if needed.

I was most disappointed by the lack of communication in the beginning about where my training would be held. I expected to be in the rice field Shala and eating food from a nearby organic restaurant, but ended up at the mansion resort with repetitive meals that left me feeling less than nourished after long yoga sessions.

Despite this initial setback, I had amazing instructors that made the experience worthwhile. I also hoped for a deeper interpersonal and self-growth experience, but still learned a lot about yoga philosophy, anatomy, and practice. The instructors were passionate and dedicated, making the knowledge gained invaluable.

We only had a large group, so we didn’t get much personal critique on our teaching or yoga practice. But that was probably because it was August. Having a big group brought great energy and it was awesome to share the experience with people from all over the world. Plus, more students meant more to learn from. I wish we had more practice teaching time, but I think the other group got a lot of that, so it depends on your teacher (ours was still great). 1) The food at the Mansion got pretty repetitive – lots of veggies (be careful, meat-lovers!). But breakfast was awesome! They had a huge variety of food.

    2) The course can be intense (no surprises there!), and by the second week, many people were burnt out or getting sick. We should’ve paced ourselves better. Our group had a rough time with scheduling and ended up practicing for 9 days in a row. So, yeah, exhaustion was real. But the instructors were super supportive and let us take breaks when needed, which was great. I went in with no expectations and was blown away by the whole experience!

    1) The course covers a lot – you learn about yoga through three main classes: posture alignment, yoga philosophy, and anatomy. It’s a holistic approach to understanding the physical and mental aspects of yoga. We also learned about breathing techniques, meditation, and how to teach a class. We had to prepare lessons almost every day, with the length increasing over time.

    2) Our group ended up staying at the Mansion Hotel in Ubud instead of our regular shala, but it was a nice resort. I shared a family suite with another person, which was pretty sweet.

    3) One of the best parts of the course was the community. I met people from all over the world who shared the same attitude towards learning and growing. I made some incredible friends and even after the course, we stayed connected. My advice would be to extend your stay in Bali to hang out with your new friends a bit longer.

But don’t get me wrong, the hotel was beautiful and the staff treated us well. I did get to see Yoga Union’s shala, which was breathtaking! The program in Bali had a few minor issues due to its newness. Paying the remaining amount could have been simpler with an option like PayPal. The accommodations varied in quality, despite all guests paying the same price. The restaurant we dined at was lovely and the staff was friendly, but the menu was repetitive until we asked for changes. These were small inconveniences, but I would still wholeheartedly recommend this yoga training. I truly enjoyed the entire experience. The knowledgeable teachers embody Yogi philosophies. The daily vinyasa classes were exceptionally creative and diverse, making it hard for me to find comparable classes back home. The food could have been tastier. Breakfast was good but lunch and dinner lacked flavor. However, there are plenty of affordable options around for those looking for variety in their diet during the 3 weeks.

The wonderful teachers, always eager to share their knowledge, the peaceful location of the yoga shala in the rice fields, and the positive energy of the group made this training a fantastic experience.

I’m grateful for this amazing experience. I recommend this teacher training to anyone open to engaging in a enriching experience that not only deepens their personal yogic practice, but also initiates personal growth in a wonderful way, gaining valuable insights.

Learning in Bali’s jungle with passionate teachers was truly a gift. The yoga family may be global, but the love and memories we created will always remain close to my heart. <3

YogaUnion, thank you for the life-changing experience! The magic of yoga filled that shala with 36 beautiful souls from 5 continents. We did my first 108 sun salutations and loads of chaturangas, ate boiled eggs and banana pancakes, and shared tears and laughs. Ourania, you brought us together for endless deep and emotional conversations. Now, I have a yogi family. This was the best 40th birthday present I could have asked for.

The teachers are all so passionate about sharing their knowledge and love of yoga. The practice and program were challenging, but the environment was extremely supportive. By the end of the training, I felt more confident in myself and my ability to teach yoga to others.

Please come in prepared to work hard at school instead of being on vacation. This course requires a lot of homework, studying, and preparation. You’ll have Sundays off, but you won’t always have time for fun activities. It’s a really intense 3 weeks, but in the end, it’s worth it. If you want to explore Bali more, just add a few extra days or weeks to your adventure. I loved every part of this experience, despite the ups and downs.

The course is structured really well. You’ll start teaching small lessons in the first week, which might seem scary, but by the end of week 2.5, you’ll be ready to teach your final 30-minute class. You’ll also learn about philosophy, anatomy, and meditation, and be tested on each. While it may seem like a lot, it really helps you become a well-rounded yoga teacher. In the afternoons, you’ll be introduced to different yoga styles, and there’s a Vinyasa Flow class every morning. The yoga classes are well put together, suitable for all levels, and will definitely improve your own skills during the weeks.

The teachers are fantastic people and instructors, always there to assist with anything you need, whether it’s yoga-related or personal. You’ll never feel alone!

In terms of accommodation, remember you’re in Bali, so expect to encounter insects in the open bungalows. You’ll get used to it though, just pack plenty of bug spray and long pants.

As for food…it’s delicious, healthy, and served at the same restaurants 3 times a day. So, don’t be surprised if you see some meal repetition. If you prefer, you can always dine elsewhere!

My experience was absolutely incredible and exceeded all my expectations. Just put in the work, participate, and give it your all in the yoga practice and your life will change. The instructors are so organized and the classes are informative and engaging. I loved the variety of classes and how well they took care of us. I was able to focus all my energy on myself. I highly recommend Ourania, Spyros, Sarah & Jac. They each have their own unique gifts they share with their students. Seriously, don’t hesitate, just go for it!!!

I didn’t like the location of the accommodation. The house was extremely isolated (not on the beach and no notable view), there were no public transportation, no shop for hygiene products, etc., and the beach was not within walking distance. If we hadn’t rented a car, we wouldn’t have seen anything of the beautiful peninsula. My room was in the same house as the yoga classes, meals, common area, etc. Personally, it wasn’t ideal for me because it was always relatively loud and I couldn’t retreat anywhere, spending the whole day going up and down the stairs in the same house. The yoga classes were top-notch – the teachers are all very passionate and knowledgeable, and I learned a lot in a short amount of time. I’m really happy with the experience.

I found living in the same house where the courses took place a bit difficult. As days passed, the schedule became demanding and I needed every break for rest or study. The house was always full of people, making it hard to relax. Being cooped up in the same place for everything felt claustrophobic. Renting a car to go to the beach or town during breaks helped break the monotony. The food caused some stomach issues, but eating out occasionally helped. Despite the house situation, the yoga teacher training was a lovely experience. The teachers were passionate and skilled, creating a positive surprise. I learned a lot, met great people, saw beautiful places, and grew as a person. I highly recommend the experience. The teachers were competent and open, with advanced practices. Anatomy and philosophy were taught in an interactive way. The surroundings were beautiful, and I made lasting friendships. Overall, it was a fantastic experience.

I loved every aspect of my time at Yoga Union, from the challenging vinyasa classes to the in-depth theory teaching. The only downside was that it had to end because I miss it so much already! I would highly recommend Yoga Union to anyone looking to become a yoga teacher or deepen their practice. Even before I arrived for the training, I felt the warmth of the teachers through our correspondence. I had been unwell before attending and wasn’t sure if I was fit enough for the training. Thanks to Yoga Union’s support and guidance, I decided to take a chance and it was the best decision ever!

The training was amazing, with challenging vinyasa classes and a variety of teachers who each brought something special to the practice. Their yin, hatha, and restorative classes were all fantastic. The yin classes were especially beneficial after the intense vinyasa sessions. The days are long and the practice is challenging, so make sure you’re prepared before starting the training.

The theory teaching was thorough, and we started teaching right away, which was the perfect way to learn. Preparing by reading the course books beforehand really helped establish a solid foundation of knowledge that supported me throughout the training. It was an incredible experience that truly helped me grow in confidence.

The training could be organized more professionally to enhance its quality. A few key improvements would make a big difference:

    – Make sure students use the recommended books by assigning chapters to read before each class. Many students bought the books but never used them.
    – Provide a clear schedule for the 3 weeks at the introduction dinner on day 1. For those who can’t attend, ensure they have a schedule in their room upon arrival. This way, everyone knows what to expect and things are crystal clear.
    – Double-check the accuracy of accommodation descriptions to avoid any discrepancies causing disappointment.
    – Avoid talking negatively about past students, as it can make current students uneasy, fearing they might be the next target.
    – Ensure all students receive equal attention during teaching exams. It was confusing to see some students get full focus while others were left to their own devices.

The passionate teachers shared their deep knowledge of yoga and teaching, covering alignment, the human body, philosophy, and asanas. Mornings began with meditation techniques followed by Ourania’s fantastic yoga classes. Breakfast was a highlight, featuring fresh fruits and delicious porridge. Asana classes were insightful, helping me understand correct postures and corrections.

Coralia’s philosophy lessons were enlightening, and the anatomy classes, despite some hiccups, deepened my understanding of the body. The first week was challenging, but by weeks two and three, I had settled into the routine. Overall, the experience was positive, with some areas to tweak for the next training session.

I have no complaints at all. If I had to wish for anything, it would be that all the participants stay in one place. But that wasn’t even an issue because we got to explore so many amazing places in the rice fields. What stood out to me about this teacher training program was:
    a. It helps you grow as a person on both practical and spiritual levels. It really forces you to dig deep and look inside yourself.
    b. There is a strong emphasis on teaching, you start teaching right from week 1. This builds confidence by the end.
    c. The location, the people, the food, and the teachers all contributed to making it a magical experience that puts a smile on your face every day.

Firstly, I was frustrated to find that the course ended up having 35 people instead of the advertised 15 maximum. This made it difficult to receive any constructive feedback for over two weeks due to the high ratio of students to teachers.

The Anatomy and Philosophy classes were confusing and poorly structured, making it hard to grasp the content. We were discouraged from taking notes and lacked relevant hand-outs to follow along with. The Teacher Training manual was so poorly printed that it needed to be re-printed.

Although all texts were supposed to be provided, many of us ended up purchasing an additional text that proved to be beneficial for the Anatomy component.

During our practice teaching sessions, the teachers seemed distracted and did not offer solid constructive criticism. It was common for them to be on their phones or coming in and out of the room during assessments.

I hoped for a more supportive learning environment as it was easy to feel left behind. On a positive note, the surroundings were incredible, with beautiful rice fields to walk past every day. The actual yoga classes were amazing, with both teachers showing passion and clear instructions for their Vinyasa lessons. When asked, they were capable of providing detailed and professional feedback as well as adjustments for asanas.

The food provided was fantastic, with a great vegan selection. It would have been nice to have more protein options other than soy products.

I just had a problem with the disorganization of the program. We never knew where we would be the next morning and had to wander around until we found our teachers. It would have been better if there was a plan in place for the three weeks in advance instead of finding out just a few days ahead. I understand the teachers wanted some flexibility, but having a plan would have helped us prepare and not feel stressed about what was coming up.

I didn’t get the Shatkarma kit that was promised and had to ask for the included massage. These things were not mentioned or offered from the beginning.

Their teaching was excellent and I learned a lot, but they should consider hiring an administration person to help with the organization. The exam covered everything we learned, and our teachers shared a lot of valuable knowledge with us.

Studying in the beautiful rice fields of Ubud was amazing. We had classes in two locations with stunning views and all the equipment we needed. The accommodation at Gusti Garden was basic but comfortable, and the owner was very friendly and helpful.

The food at Prashanti was delicious, but I wouldn’t exactly call it fully macrobiotic as they advertised. It was more of a vegan Indonesian style.

I had a great time with the other students on the course, many of whom have become my friends.

They promised things would be organized, but nothing was. Classes were all over the place – one location for classes, another for living, and a different spot for food. It was a mess of confusion and last-minute changes. The instructors seemed great, but the way they explained anatomy felt like they were making it up as they went along. It was hard to believe they had run a teacher training before, let alone for 8 years in a row. It felt like they were beginners. I was stressed out worrying about failing instead of finding peace as a yogi. Despite that, the instructors tried to improve things. Hopefully, the next training will be better. Despite the chaos, I enjoyed it! The rice fields where we practiced yoga were beautiful, even though I wasn’t staying in Prashanti. Ubud was amazing, and Bali stole my heart!

The structure and organization of this program needs some serious work. I think having an assistant would have really made a difference. Things weren’t handled correctly, which upset many students. When we were asked for our feedback, the teachers got very defensive and dismissive.

The website said the maximum number of participants was 15, but we ended up with 35. We were told that it didn’t matter, but I disagree. I didn’t feel like I got enough help or instruction; I felt lost and ignored most of the time. It seemed like some students were getting more attention than others.

I was promised a certain accommodation but ended up in a much lower quality one. The online price for that was half of the original one the other girls were staying in, yet I still had to pay full price. I would have expected some form of compensation, but I received none. Dealing with mold in my room left me with a sore throat and runny nose throughout the training, and my favorite luggage got covered in mold. When I tried to voice my concerns, I felt completely dismissed.

Despite the issues, the shala where we practiced was stunning, and I learned a lot. I appreciated being introduced to different types of yoga beyond Vinyasa, but I wish there was more explanation about them. The teachers were knowledgeable but not always organized. On a positive note, I met some amazing women during this experience.
