August 9, 2023 at 12:00 amNegative point for the room: It’s a bit shocking that there’s no door to the bathroom in a shared room; there’s a lot of noise at night between the hotel parties, which are not part of the Yoga retreat but are shared by Russians, and the rats in the walls; there are no shutters, so the room is not dark at night.
I didn’t enjoy the lunches and dinners…all the dishes were saucy, and there wasn’t necessarily coherence between all the buffet options. It was a very enriching human experience though. The teachers are passionate.
The breakfasts are very good.

December 19, 2022 at 12:00 amKeep in mind that real life isn’t as glamorous as Instagram pictures. The House of Om team and participants know how to find the perfect angle for their photos.
I found that the opening ceremony, beach day, and graduation felt fake to me because they were mainly for Instagram.
The location, Amertham, is not in great condition and is a very basic resort. There’s no nice yoga decorations, cozy chill areas, or sun beds around the pool. The public toilets were not clean and the pool was out of order for a significant portion of our stay. Since it’s in the jungle, you can expect to encounter mosquitos, geckos, cockroaches, and rats.
Many of the teachers, including the founder, were not sensitive when discussing topics like nutrition, trauma, parenthood, and psychological diseases. This upset some of the participants as the discussions lacked an empirical foundation at times.
I was expecting more Asana classes since the yoga teacher training had a retreat-like atmosphere. However, we ended up sitting a lot during theory classes and didn’t move as much as I had anticipated.
Considering the reasons mentioned above and the fact that it’s located in the middle of nowhere, I feel that the YTT is quite expensive for the value it provides. The amenities were lacking, such as cheap shampoo, no pool towels, stained bed sheets, unclean bathrooms, no sweat or cleaning towels for yoga class, and inadequate yoga mats. Additionally, laundry was not included.
The yoga studio has an uneven floor, minimal equipment, and feels cramped for 27 people. However, it’s beginner-friendly but may not be challenging enough for advanced yogis.
On a positive note, the teachers, including Unieng and Thofun for Asana in my batch, were amazing from both Indonesia and internationally. If you’re a jungle lover, you’ll appreciate the fact that it’s located in the middle of the jungle. The food was delicious and the kitchen staff were lovely. My single room was okay, but there were several complaints about shared rooms due to issues like mold and rats.
You’ll definitely have the opportunity to meet incredible people from all over the world with diverse professional backgrounds. Your asana skills will also improve during the training. Since there is only one YTT batch at a time in Amertham, you’ll have plenty of time to bond with your group. From day one, you’ll learn how to teach yoga and by the end, you’ll have the chance to teach a one-hour class on your own.
To conclude, if you read reviews carefully, they will give you a good idea of what you can and cannot expect from this YTT.

October 16, 2022 at 12:00 amWe dealt with a lot of miscommunication regarding the group size, class and activity arrangements. They kept changing things at the last minute. It was frustrating because my dietary requirements weren’t properly passed on to the kitchen staff, and it took me a week to sort it out. In some of the classes, they conveyed information about acoustics, language, and the brain that didn’t quite align with my expertise as an academic specializing in those areas. It made it hard for me to trust the learning process, and I had a tough time holding my tongue. The schedule was packed, in my opinion. It would have been nice to have an hour each day for personal contemplation and journaling. On the bright side, I absolutely loved the Mansion and the shalas. Being surrounded by such beautiful scenery every day felt like a blessing. The teachers were amazing, and I learned so much from them. I especially appreciated the chance to learn dynamic and active meditation, which was new to me. The kitchen staff were fantastic and really accommodating. The spare time activities were enjoyable too. I deepened my yoga practice and now feel more confident about eventually teaching it myself. All in all, I made a wise choice by coming to the House of Om. It had everything I was looking for.

September 21, 2022 at 12:00 amI loved the teachers at the resort! They were so passionate and inspiring. They made me, as a beginner, feel safe and supported throughout my journey. Oh, and the resort itself was absolutely amazing! The staff and the food were top-notch. And let’s not forget about the stunning surroundings – the place is nestled among nature, with two rivers and even a waterfall. It truly is a magical place and an unforgettable experience.

March 28, 2020 at 12:00 amMy roommates and I had a hard time figuring out how to live together, but we managed to change rooms and everything became amazing. Before I got here, there wasn’t an option to choose all teachers. So, a big thank you to Neetu and all the teachers for their skills and experience that have shaped us. I also want to give a big thanks to the supportive team who answer emails and fix everything from the moment you contact them until you safely return home.
This retreat is a unique experience, but you need to understand that it’s an intense program designed to make you a good teacher. All you need to bring is your positivity. There were moments when I was tired or not in the mood, but those were small compared to the amazing community and family we became. We felt secure and satisfied with what we learned every single day. I can honestly say that I never had any complaints. The only thing some people struggled with was the intensity of the program, but they should have read and realized that from the beginning. It’s not a vacation retreat! It’s challenging, but very possible with the right attitude. In the end, you’ll understand how much you needed all those hours of learning and practicing. So, don’t hesitate, I strongly recommend this training at House of OM and Yoga Amertham resort. If you have any questions as future students, feel free to contact me at bohatova.miroslava@gmail.com.
Namaste.

March 10, 2020 at 12:00 amThe only disheartening part had nothing to do with HOM. Some students didn’t respect the journey of others or their own inner journey. They talked and played on social media during “silent” hours. But this was their path, not mine.
The biggest takeaway is that we were all on different journeys, for different reasons. And we were lucky to be surrounded by 51 other students, forming friendships and a bigger family. It’s all about perspective. You have a choice, and if you choose to be positive, you’ll be surrounded by positivity.
When you decide to embark on this journey, make sure you’re “Ready”. How do you know you’re ready? When you’re willing to accept the good with the bad, have an open mind, and handle whatever comes your way with positivity.
I registered when my mind was fully open and receptive. Nothing could deter me or make this a negative experience, not even the threat of a worldwide virus. When I arrived, there was a room change, but it wasn’t a big deal. They quickly made it happen, understanding that all I wanted was a shower. The resort staff was excellent and helped us with anything to make us comfortable. When I fell ill, the chefs personally delivered food to my room for every meal, and the HOM staff checked on me all day.
As for the course and teachers, there aren’t enough positive words to express my gratitude and awe. They handled such a large group with composure, even when some students chose to talk or nap during lectures and disrespect them. The program was intense, with long days. But in the end, what you gain is worth every minute, as long as you stay focused and follow their guidance. The content exceeded my expectations, and all of our teachers were incredibly knowledgeable and talented. They took the time to answer our questions, break down poses, and share valuable insights. Thank you! ?

March 3, 2020 at 12:00 amI was pleasantly surprised by how intense and challenging the yoga teacher training turned out to be. The classes on anatomy, philosophy, asana, alignment, and more were excellent. The teachers, accommodation, food, and staff were amazing. They taught and cared for us with love. March 2, 2020 at 12:00 amThere’s no such thing! I would repeat it again if I could 🙂 I absolutely loved everything about the YTT organized by HOM!
The location is simply astonishing! Situated right in the middle of the jungle, close to the river and a small waterfall, it’s such a beautiful and clean resort. They even have a big pool and a huge dining area, along with plenty of study spots for when exams are approaching. The hotel staff is incredibly nice and helpful, making the place feel peaceful and serene – the perfect setting for an intimate inner journey.
Now, let’s talk about the food! We were treated to three delicious vegetarian meals per day, and they even provided water, tea, and coffee throughout the day. The food was so tasty that there were times when I couldn’t resist and ended up eating too much! The kitchen staff was incredibly kind and lovable, going as far as remembering everyone’s birthdays and surprising them with beautiful birthday cakes. I found myself even being jealous that my birthday didn’t coincide with my stay there!
As for the teachers, I can’t express enough how much I loved them all – Peewee, Rohil, Ewelina, and Arlene! They were kind, humble, authentic, and highly experienced. I treasured every minute spent with them and appreciated all the knowledge they passed on to me through their teachings. They truly set the perfect example of what a yoga teacher should be like.
Now let’s dive into the course itself! We had four hours of asana practice every day, which I found both challenging and enjoyable. It allowed me to take my yoga practice to a whole new level. In addition to that, we had numerous theory classes covering topics such as yoga history and philosophy, teaching methodology, and adjustments. These classes were incredibly interesting and gave me a fresh perspective on yoga. I also loved the meditation, pranayama, and mantras – they added an extra layer of depth to my practice.

March 2, 2020 at 12:00 amI found that the structuring made my notes jump around from topic to topic, which made revision harder. However, I think this was done to keep things interesting. Surprisingly, I have retained a lot of the information and I am grateful for the engaging content and the direct teaching style. The teachers were passionate and had a deep and broad knowledge of the subject matter. They covered a wide range of topics like philosophy, anatomy, asana, pranayama, personal development, and meditation. They also emphasized the spiritual aspect of yoga. I initially thought the course would be transformative and it definitely exceeded my expectations. The facilities were great and the food was amazing. The support staff were helpful and they handled the large and diverse student body well. I was pleasantly surprised by the connections and bonds formed between all of us. The course has sparked my interest to learn more and has opened my heart to love more. I highly recommend booking this course!

February 27, 2020 at 12:00 amI was really disappointed with the number of students for this program. When I booked the school, it said there would be 25 students per program, but I was shocked when they told us there were actually 53 students (the website was updated during the program). Honestly, they weren’t prepared for such a large group in many ways. There were too many people talking about things that weren’t important, too many students for the teachers to properly take care of during classes, and too many students to properly cover all the yoga content.
There were a few rooms without beds, and people had to sleep on mattresses on the floor. The toilets near the shala and templo were also unfinished. It would have been nice if they had taken care of these things to make us more comfortable. And having only two teachers to cover all the topics like anatomy, philosophy, and history was too much.
One of the teachers was really stressed out because she was also doing private healing sessions with some of the students. Unfortunately, she offered the service and ended up leaving many students without it. I’m not sure if it was a good idea to offer a service and then not follow through.
Some of the students also didn’t take the required 200 hours attendance seriously. I found this very unfair because we were all there for the same purpose.
A few things promised in the program were forgotten. We only had one day off for an excursion. Maybe it would be better to have fewer students for better quality classes. Additionally, the photographer forgot that he had scheduled sessions with some people. Again, why offer it if you can’t follow through?
On a positive note, I had a really great time at the school. The classes were nice, especially the Yoga philosophy. The workshops with Rohill were amazing, and he was always patient with so many students! The moments of silence were my favorite, it was nice to be with myself and refresh my mind and soul.
The place itself was wonderful! It was so peaceful and full of energy. We were lucky to be in the middle of the jungle, learning all about the yoga lifestyle.
The ladies in the kitchen were fantastic and kind. They always did their best to make sure everyone was happy with the food and even prepared birthday cakes for all of us.
The transfer from the airport to the school was smooth, and they made me feel secure.
The days off were a nice opportunity to explore Ubud, but it was even better to come back to the school and relax.
The teachers were very experienced and shared a lot of their knowledge with us.
I also enjoyed getting to know people from all over the world and made some good friends.
Overall, it was nice to learn so many things in a short period of time and share experiences.

February 24, 2020 at 12:00 amI didn’t like the fact that we had 52 people. That’s just too many. We should have a maximum of 30. Everything was good though, people were nice. But the truth is, with this many people, we can’t get enough personal attention, no matter how hard they try or how awesome the teachers are. I liked everything about the course though – the facility, staff, teachers, food, the classes, the crowd – it was all great!

February 22, 2020 at 12:00 amThey suddenly shortened our course from 25 days to 23 days, and I’m not sure why, but I think it took away some of our rest time.
If we had just one more rest day or shorter training days (they were 14 hours long), it would have prevented a lot of fatigue and given us more time to practice and study on our own.
Our class was pretty big, with 36 people. It didn’t really bother me, but it would be good to know ahead of time how many people will be in the class.
The laundry service wasn’t great – some people lost a few pieces of clothing and it took a long time to get our clothes back. I recommend either doing your own laundry or keeping a close eye on what you give for laundering. Oh, and choose this place, it’s really nice 🙂
This training was more than just a yoga program, it was truly transformative. We had so much time to focus on ourselves and work through any personal issues or traumas.
Peewee is an amazing teacher, she really knows her stuff and is an overall fantastic person. And Rohil is great too, his yoga philosophy class was wonderful. They are both very knowledgeable.
The facilities – the pool, yoga studio, rooms, and common areas – are all beautiful.
Practicing morning meditation and yoga in silence was such a peaceful experience.
The training covers a wide range of topics, but be prepared for it to be intense.
The teachers were really flexible and checked in with us often to make sure we were doing okay. For example, after several tough ashtanga and hatha classes, they gave us restorative classes when we needed a break.
The food was absolutely amazing and gave us the energy we needed to get through the training. As someone with celiac disease, I really appreciated the separate gluten-free dishes and bread that the chefs made for me and another girl who had the same dietary restrictions. And those smoothie bowls were a favorite!
The support staff, especially Ami and Lila, were incredibly helpful and kind. When I got a cold, Ami personally went out to buy me cold medication and throat drops.
The location was just a 30-minute car ride away from Ubud, and there were convenience stores within a 10-minute walk for snacks. It’s in a quiet area that’s not too touristy.

January 28, 2020 at 12:00 amI felt a bit unhappy when they suddenly reduced the number of training days from 25 to 22 just a week before it began. They never offered an explanation for the change. I learned a great deal and made wonderful friends from different parts of the world. If you’re considering it, I highly recommend it. January 28, 2020 at 12:00 amThe food was good, but it could have been more versatile. And maybe they should only serve cake occasionally, not every day!
The water pressure was very low and it doesn’t meet the needs of so many people.
I thought there would only be 25 people in our course, but there were almost 40. It wasn’t too big of a problem since we divided into two groups for lessons, but with such a packed schedule, it’s impossible to get to know so many people. It’s even hard to get to know a few people when the person sitting next to you is always someone new. However, our teachers were amazing! They were passionate about teaching, highly knowledgeable, and very inspiring. I couldn’t have been happier with them! I hope to take their courses again someday.
The schedule was intense, but it kept us focused. I liked that we started our days at 6am sharp every morning. The program was well-planned and covered everything from yoga poses to the philosophy and anatomy of yoga. Of course, there’s still a lot more to learn after this course, but we have a solid foundation and know where to go from here.
In addition, we also had chanting, dancing, and fantastic meditation sessions. As someone new to these practices, it really opened my mind to new experiences.
The teaching methodology lessons, along with everything else we learned, gave us the tools to build and teach a proper yoga class. We even had the chance to practice teaching for a few days before our final exam. It was reassuring to gain some confidence before being evaluated.
The facilities were good and the staff was kind and friendly. During our two days off, there were plenty of options for activities. And I have to mention, the food was excellent, especially the breakfast.
Overall, I really enjoyed the course! It was amazing to meet like-minded people from all over the world and have new and exciting experiences with them.

June 29, 2019 at 12:00 amI don’t really have anything to complain about, just a few minor things that could be improved. But apart from the mistakes we all make, including our teachers, I deeply admire their integrity. I absolutely loved it! It was an unforgettable experience that truly changed my life. Those guys really touched my soul and my heart.
They took really good care of us, even the food was good. It was just a bit repetitive, but they are working on improving it.
The location is great, just not in the center of Ubud. However, you can find everything you need not far from the resort. It was an amazing time. We learned so much about yoga, spirituality, and our own lives.
Wissam organized many additional workshops in the evenings. Unfortunately, it was sometimes slightly chaotic, but that wasn’t his fault since external teachers would confirm their availability on the same day in the afternoon. He taught us a lot about life and life coaching. He is such a good and loving soul, and he brought a beautiful energy into the retreat.
Peewee was an outstanding yoga teacher. We learned so much about functional anatomy and alignment, how to do asanas and stretch without getting injured or injuring our students. She and Wissam also taught us about spirituality, and they led the best meditations. I will never forget the chakra meditations and what I discovered about my own life.
Manish was the philosophy teacher. Sometimes he could be a bit stubborn when it came to philosophy, but his knowledge was immense. However, he always said that if something seemed too contradictory or if you had clear doubts, don’t believe it. Having doubts is actually a good thing. Of course, yogic philosophy is old and there are certain aspects that have been proven wrong later on. But with their philosophy, which is over 2000 years old, they were much closer to the truth than European philosophy from the 1700-1800s.
After returning home, I spoke to a few friends who are also yoga teachers. They said, “I wish I had ever received such an amazing training. What you learned, felt, and experienced was outstanding and unforgettable. I would totally do it again.”
