November 21, 2023 at 12:00 amI’m not sure about the agreement between World Peace Yoga school and the hotel, but I think we could have gotten better quality food for the money we paid. I thought I’d be okay with having the same meal every day before I booked this teacher training, but I was definitely wrong. They mostly served steamed or fried rice/french fries with vegetables, tofu and tempeh, and salad, usually twice a day. Sometimes the salad was not washed properly or there was mold on the plate. I would have liked more nutritious ingredients like quinoa, lentils, and other nuts besides peanuts, even if it was just every third day. Breakfast was good though!
Helpful ReviewAnother thing that bothered me was that the teacher training I actually booked was completely different from what I experienced. The hotel photos and everything were not what I got in the end, but it seems like this program was new. The training I booked had “Ayurveda” in the title, so I expected more discussion on that topic than we actually had (only 2 lessons). But overall, I’m happy with what I learned and experienced! I just wanted to let other reviewers know that what you book may turn out differently than expected (maybe a good life lesson anyway). 🙂 I really enjoyed learning from the teachers and deepening my knowledge of Yoga. Thank you Ashu for incorporating your Indian culture into the lessons, even though sometimes it was hard for me to connect that with what we were initially discussing. But I felt it was important to understand the roots of Yoga.
The schedule was packed, but that’s what I wanted so I could fully immerse myself in the experience. The quality of the lessons was extremely high and the teachers were completely devoted to teaching us thoroughly, which was the most important thing to me! Thank you so much.??
The hotel resort was very clean and I loved having a spacious room all to myself. The rooftop was the best spot for meditation. The small gym was also a nice addition!

August 24, 2023 at 12:00 amI just finished my 200hr Kundalini YTT with World Peace Yoga School and it was absolutely amazing! The Bali setting was incredibly beautiful, but what truly made this experience unforgettable were the incredible teachers. June 5, 2023 at 12:00 amI loved everything about my experience at the 200 hour Kundalini Teacher training! Words can’t even begin to describe how amazing it was. It truly was one of the best experiences of my life, and I’m already looking forward to going back for more. The teachers were incredible – their knowledge, passion, and ability to explain things clearly was unmatched. The kitchen staff prepared three delicious and varied meals each day, and I never got sick while I was there. The front of house staff were always available to help with any questions or concerns, and they always had a solution. Everyone was so kind, caring, respectful, and friendly.

March 29, 2023 at 12:00 amThe yoga hall was dirty and it felt either too hot or too cold due to the construction of the rooftop. I caught a cold because it rained for two days. The props were really dirty and had a bad smell. This school didn’t have a good atmosphere. It felt too commercial and didn’t have positive energy. I couldn’t complete the course because of these issues. Everyone in my group felt frustrated. It was supposed to be a nice experience, but it wasn’t. However, the group members were nice and some of the lessons were good. The location and view from the school were pretty good.

June 17, 2022 at 12:00 amI regretted my decision to stay at the school. If I had to do it over again, I would recommend paying just for the course and finding accommodation and meals elsewhere. It would have made my experience much better and saved me money. I ended up eating out most of the time because many students who were there before me got sick from the food and water. The food wasn’t very balanced and lacked nutrition, mostly just carbs and oil. The accommodation was basic, and the bed was even harder than the one I had during Vipassana. If I had stayed at a hostel, I would have had a cleaner space, no 10:30pm curfew, a comfortable bed, and probably fewer nightmares. On a positive note, I have to say that all the teachers here are amazing. I had the privilege of being taught by Dr. Lata Ji, Sunil Ji, Kanna Ji, Dr. Himanshu Ji, Naveen Ji, and a special shoutout to Siddha Ji. Every teacher was extremely knowledgeable in their respective fields and had a way of explaining things that really opened my mind. It was a daily privilege to learn from such highly educated and intelligent individuals.

May 31, 2022 at 12:00 amThere are no tools to clean. You can’t mop or wash the sink in the room.
The food was alright for the first two weeks, but then they just kept serving us the same things every day and I started eating out on the street… I came here to get healthier, but I ended up gaining weight :/ I really liked the group of people who came to get certified… we all got along great. It was a fun, busy day from morning till night.
I loved the ashtanga class and how Ashu guided us in adjusting and aligning our poses. Himanshu’s Anatomy class was also a favorite of mine. I really enjoyed the Philosophy class too :).

June 15, 2020 at 12:00 amThe Internet in India can be quite temperamental, so we had to be patient. But it wasn’t a problem because we always managed to fix it, although it was challenging.
This review covers accommodation and food, but keep in mind that it was an online course. And let me tell you, the course was absolutely fantastic! It was divided into two parts: theory and practical. And guess what? I loved both!
Now, I have to be honest, the theory part can be a bit tough to grasp. So, I would recommend having some prior knowledge of Hindu gods and goddesses before diving in.
But let me tell you about the practical classes. They were simply mind-blowing! Every day, they left me feeling completely cleansed, replenished, and filled with love. The teachers delivered these classes with such confidence and deep knowledge. They were truly inspiring, and the fact that they could transmit that through a screen is a testament to the school and the course.

Oh, and you know what? It was really lovely to connect with people from all over the world during this experience.

To make matters worse, there were only four of us in our class, and three of us actually lived on the school premises. Guess what? We all got really sick. And if that wasn’t bad enough, there’s no hot water in the female dorms. Can you believe it? On top of that, we experience water outages at least once a day. Talk about inconvenient.
And let me tell you about the staff. They’re not polite at all. In fact, they’re always just sitting on their phones, not paying any attention to us. And get this, even the owner himself was on his phone during kirtan. Can you believe the nerve?
We went to this place to get our 300-hour certification, but guess what? We didn’t get it. We barely even got half the hours we needed. It’s a total scam, in my opinion. They shouldn’t be allowed to provide certification, especially since they don’t meet the requirements set by Yoga Alliance.
Thankfully, BookYogaRetreats helped us try to get a refund. We did end up getting a very small refund from the school, as well as a refund of the commission from BookYogaRetreats. Can’t say I would recommend this place to anyone.
Now, it’s not all bad. The location is actually pretty central and it’s easy to access everything. Plus, the classes on anatomy, hatha, and alignment were actually pretty good. The teachers really knew their stuff. But honestly, the negatives far outweigh the positives.

July 27, 2019 at 12:00 amSometimes, the heat during summer and power cuts gave me a hard time, but the school can’t control that. I can’t express how happy and grateful I am for choosing this school. From the very beginning, everyone made sure it felt like home – a home away from home – and I truly appreciate that. The training syllabus is outstanding, and all the subjects are super interesting and relevant for anyone looking to delve deeper into the ancient knowledge of Yoga after the 200hr. This wouldn’t be possible without the amazing, professional, and inspirational teachers and founder. You can see how Yoga is a part of their daily lives. The staff, both at reception and in the kitchen, are friendly and always ready to help with a smile. The atmosphere and energy of the place are truly nice, and there’s a beautiful garden area and a big balcony with a view of the mountains. The halls where classes are held are clean and well-equipped. I want to thank each and every one of you for making this transformational experience in my life so unique. Thanks to you, I now feel like I have a home in Rishikesh. If I ever consider another Yoga training, this would definitely be the place. If you’re looking for an authentic, enriching, and transformative Yoga experience, this is the place to be!

July 9, 2019 at 12:00 amUnfortunately, the yoga classes were in Lithuanian due to a last-minute teacher change, even though they were announced in English. But thanks to a very capable translator and the dedication of the yoga teacher, it was well managed! In the end, it was a wonderful stay in Lithuania. The accommodation was decent, but the food was fantastic – fresh and vegan every day. The classes with Vishnu Pranighari were incredibly valuable. Even the yoga instruction from a Lithuanian yoga teacher greatly enriched my yoga practice.

December 31, 2018 at 12:00 amI wasn’t really disappointed by anything. I knew the ashram wouldn’t be a fancy 5-star hotel, but it had everything I needed. When I went in December, it was a bit colder than I expected, but I had enough blankets to keep me warm. The hot water for the showers didn’t last long, but that was alright because the cold water actually helped me wake up in the mornings! The 200 hour Kundalini yoga teacher training exceeded all my expectations. The staff and teachers were amazing – they were so knowledgeable and friendly, they felt like family. Even though it was an intensive course (waking up at 5am and going to bed at 10pm), I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in the spiritual side of yoga. We had plenty of opportunities to meditate, do asanas, and more with the group. And we also had enough free time to explore the town and have fun!

December 5, 2018 at 12:00 amWe only spent 10 minutes on teaching methodology, which honestly surprised me. I thought we would spend more time on topics like building a sequence and proper postures during practice. I think it would be better to start focusing on these aspects from the second week and ask students to do their practices for 30 minutes each day, with constructive feedback. After all, I joined this course to become a teacher, not just to practice yoga every day.
Speaking of feedback, as a student, I would appreciate constructive feedback from the teachers instead of just hearing “very good.” I want to know how I’m progressing and what I can improve on. Throughout the course, we asked for constructive feedback multiple times, but we always received the same response of “very good.”
Now let’s talk about the food. As a yogi, I expected plain or at least not highly spiced food. However, the meals were always the same for lunch and dinner, with the only difference being chapati served during dinner. The food was heavy and loaded with black peppers. I asked for milder food, but ended up eating boiled carrots and potatoes for a whole month. As a yogi, I believe in nourishing my body, mind, and soul with food that complements my practice.
Moving on to the manual, I believe it should include adjustments for each pose. The anatomy section should provide general information about each bodily system, but the explanation of muscles falls short. It should also include postures that can be done for specific conditions or muscle imbalances, such as herniated disks.
Despite these issues, this experience has allowed me to delve deeper into myself and change my perspective on life and the world. I’ve learned valuable breathing techniques and skills that have improved my daily life. I am proud to have gained new knowledge and abilities, which I can now share with others. Additionally, I’ve learned how to coexist with people from different countries and share communal spaces like the dining room and my personal room. It has truly been a great experience because I was able to be myself without anyone pressuring me to change or be someone I’m not. I am truly grateful for the time and knowledge shared by each teacher.

October 31, 2018 at 12:00 amThe course is over and done with. 😉 Don’t expect the best accommodation though, so be prepared for that. However, the view from the room totally makes up for it, which is great.
Oh, and let me tell you about the food! It’s absolutely amazing and you can tell it’s cooked with love. It might get a bit repetitive, but it’s still really good. And I have to mention how incredible the teachers were! Seriously, every single one of them was so inspiring and knowledgeable. They seemed genuinely interested in our learning.
The subjects we learned were super interesting and taught really well.
The environment is perfect for introspection, and it’s also a great place to share your spiritual journey with others on the same path.
Rishikesh, the city where the course takes place, is absolutely beautiful. And the people there are just as wonderful. By the way, make sure to leave some days after the course to explore the city. It’s totally worth it!
I highly recommend this course!

July 29, 2018 at 12:00 amThe accommodation was unbelievably dirty and noisy. The noise of motorbikes and animal footsteps kept me from sleeping well. Plus, our teacher looked really young. He was a super nice guy, but not at all professional as a yoga instructor. On the bright side, I met some absolutely lovely people from all over the country. Taking yoga classes together, going on excursions, and sharing meals was an incredible experience. Without them, this retreat would have been a disaster.

July 23, 2018 at 12:00 amThe course timetable and what’s included were falsely advertised. They provided fewer teaching hours than expected and absolutely didn’t cover any teaching methodology. Because of this, the overall vibe during the course was one of disappointment and tension, which is not what you expect in a yoga training. I would not recommend it as a teacher training, but rather as a Yin intensive. However, I must say that the location, accommodation, and food were good. Additionally, there were some staff members who were very knowledgeable and they did listen to complaints and try to make adjustments.

June 6, 2018 at 12:00 amI loved everything about it. Even though the living conditions are a bit humbling for me, it’s all part of the experience and I felt safe the whole time. Some students complained about the food, but you can’t please everyone. Personally, I didn’t have any complaints. Plus, there’s always the option of going to a local cafe or restaurant for a whole meal that costs less than $4 USD.
I can’t fully express how wonderful and fulfilling my experience was at World Peace Yoga School in Rishikesh. From the moment I arrived, I felt at home. The owner, Guru Vishnu, greeted us at the entrance and a volunteer helped us with our luggage and showed us to our rooms. Everyone there is incredibly kind and they quickly become your friends. I now have a deeper belief and knowledge in yoga.
I had some concerns about taking the yoga course in Rishikesh instead of in my hometown of NYC, but I was blown away and incredibly grateful that I chose to complete my certification here. The teachers are simply the best and they have an abundance of knowledge. Classes start at 6am and end at 7pm, six days a week, so it’s physically and mentally challenging, but it’s all worth it in the end. I could go on and on about all the amazing people and experiences at WPYS, but there’s not enough space here, haha!
I’m excited to eventually complete my 300hr course here, hopefully within the next year or two, once I apply everything I’ve learned at home. 🙂

During my 6-day Yoga Retreat, everyone there was incredibly helpful and friendly. They genuinely cared about us and wanted the best for each and every one of us. They did everything they could to make sure we had the experiences we desired and even took us on some unexpected adventures.
The daily program was holistic, with a variety of different yoga classes such as Hatha, Pranayam, Ashtanga Vinyasa, and Meditation. We also had the chance to go on a daily excursion.

February 16, 2018 at 12:00 amI was expecting to have different teachers, but we ended up having the same ones. We were supposed to stay at the tapovan resort, but they took us somewhere else. The place we stayed at was decent, but we definitely overpaid for what we got. Communicating with the staff was difficult since they didn’t speak English. It felt like they were making jokes about us and talking behind our backs. It was strange to see them sleeping on the floor of the dining room, and we often had to wake them up at 7:30am. The staff member who took us to the Beatles Ashram was nice, but she didn’t know the way and had to ask for directions. It was funny how she didn’t even know who the Beatles were! Most of the time, we ended up doing things on our own. Overall, the whole experience was disorganized and frustrating. On a positive note, the yoga teacher was pretty good and he was nice. But I definitely won’t come back here.

One of the yoga rooms had a monkey pee, but they still held the class there. There wasn’t enough equipment.
The trips were poorly organized.
We had to ask multiple times for our massage, and when we finally got it, it only lasted 30 minutes. The rooms where the massages were done were dirty.
The classes in the retreat package had overlap and were too basic.
The kitchen staff were really friendly.

January 21, 2018 at 12:00 amThe rooms felt freezing. When I asked about heat, they told me to stick the dusty, loose wires into the hole in my room.
My sheets were old and dirty. The room was so depressing and cold, I couldn’t even shower because my towel never dried and I’d freeze getting out. I ended up showering at a friend’s place around the corner!
I only got to go on 3 excursions, even though I was there for 5 days, so I missed out on 2 more.
Talking to other guests, I found out I paid a lot more and they seemed much happier with their accommodations.
The staff didn’t offer any advice or help with the trips. I was the only one there that week, and I felt like more of a nuisance than a guest.
It seemed like they just took my money and that was it. I wouldn’t stay there again or recommend it. The instructor was very friendly, and I enjoyed his teaching and our outings. I didn’t see his name listed above, though.
On the bright side, my massage was lovely.

January 7, 2018 at 12:00 amI arrived at the retreat on Dec 25 as planned, but my room wasn’t ready because of plumbing issues. They moved me to a less than ideal place across the street. It was only after I expressed my disappointment that they finally transferred me to a better room. Unfortunately, my room wasn’t ready for two more nights and by then, I had already decided to leave the retreat program and take yoga classes on my own at nearby studios.
The yoga instructor they assigned was not great, teaching as if we were in a teacher training program rather than a retreat. He kept repeating himself, which was frustrating. WPY failed to deliver what I had signed up for and didn’t even refund my deposit, despite being the ones who broke the contract.
I felt ripped off and won’t be returning or recommending this school. However, the food on Christmas night was delicious and lavish.
Luckily, someone came to pick me up from the bus station and even took me shopping at the market because it was freezing and I needed thermal clothes. The driver and his partner were incredibly kind, sweet, and considerate.
The trip to the Shiv temple, where we could see the Himalayas, was amazing.

December 21, 2017 at 12:00 amDuring a 15-day stay, half of the price covers classes and food, while the other half is for accommodation. At this price (600 euros/month), you will have a shared room with a bathroom. The bathroom is very dirty (even though it may look clean for India), the sheets and towels are all very stained, and the blankets and pillows smell really bad. Plastic litter decorates the garden beds along with forgotten old laundry. I won’t even mention the dishwashing area, which was frankly disgusting and revolting (dishes draining in an old juice) and the osmosis water filter was yielding yellow water (definitely do not drink it!). Basically, for a price close to European rates, you will get a dump… otherwise, you can find accommodation of the same quality for three times cheaper in the immediate vicinity… if you still plan to stay there, don’t forget your towel and pillow if you have space! Good quality teaching, very interesting classes.

July 21, 2017 at 12:00 amWhen they deliver the rooms, several people complain about the lack of bed linen and towels. The quarters look like they do in the pictures, but they are not very clean and there are no towels or sheets. Washing your clothes takes forever to dry because there is nowhere to hang them and it’s very uncomfortable to have that stuff lying around in the room… If they could fix those details, the stay would be wonderful.
