December 25, 2023 at 12:00 amI can’t complain about anything at all – my whole experience with Serenity Eco Guesthouse was absolutely amazing! I fell in love with every single aspect, from the incredible location to the fantastic yoga classes and the incredibly kind staff. It honestly felt like a home away from home. And let’s not forget about the food at Alkaline restaurant – it was a major highlight! Not only that, but they had a variety of yoga instructors who each had their own unique style. They were all experienced and made sure to tailor the class to fit everyone’s needs. I’m definitely coming back again, no doubt about it!

December 20, 2023 at 12:00 amIn Canggu, you’ve got tons of options, but let me tell you, I found the absolute best one! The staff is incredible – super friendly and always busting their butts. They clean the accommodations every day and even make the beds and provide fresh towels in the dorms. The yoga classes are amazing, with really talented instructors. And the vibe at this place is unbeatable – it feels like a real community, especially by the pool and lounge chairs. I was there for 12 nights and hardly left, except for a quick walk to the beach. No doubt about it, I would definitely come back.

December 3, 2023 at 12:00 amI stayed in a room that was basically located in the common area, with people staying up late every night, chatting on the phone. It felt uncomfortably warm in there without any windows. Despite that, the range of classes and the lovely group of fellow travelers were really amazing.

October 18, 2023 at 12:00 amThey were doing some construction across the road, which interfered with the serenity a bit, but it wasn’t enough to ruin the experience. I absolutely adore it there! This whole place truly emanates a serene vibe. The food is incredibly nourishing, delicious, and reasonably priced. The yoga options are so diverse and the teachers are so professional, plus the staff are all delightful. I’m absolutely in love with this place and have already visited for the second time this year, and I’ll definitely be back again whenever I get the chance!

October 13, 2023 at 12:00 amThe noise coming from the nearby bars wasn’t really a problem after all – we managed to sleep! The warmth, simplicity, and kindness that this place radiates are amazing. It’s a haven of peace for me.
I preferred the dormitories for more socializing. The vegan meals, permaculture, staff, and the property itself allowed me to walk barefoot all the time. The beach and shops were conveniently close.
The yoga teachers are highly professional and knowledgeable, especially Kemie. I took a lot of inversion classes with her, and all of them are insightful. The yoga studios are great.
The SPA offers massage and well-being services. The pool, as well as the fruit and medicinal trees, add to the overall charm.
Thank you to the entire team, see you soon!

October 4, 2023 at 12:00 amI wasn’t too fond of Canggu, but that’s not the center’s fault. If you want privacy, make sure to book a room with a private bathroom. The option to have a single room without a bathroom is cheaper, but it’s so small that it made me feel claustrophobic. The entire staff is incredibly kind and they make a real effort to have sustainable, local, and organic food. The restaurant and yoga classes are fantastic. If you enjoy staying in dorms, they are nice and spacious. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, especially if you’re into surfing since the spot is so close.

October 3, 2023 at 12:00 amWe stayed in a 6-bed dorm. On our last evening/night, a cat sneaked around our bed and even partially got into it. As someone who isn’t a fan of cats or even someone who is allergic to cat hair, I strongly urge to keep cats off the premises. The atmosphere was incredible. Everything was very clean. The staff was very attentive and helpful.

August 27, 2023 at 12:00 amSome places, such as the bathrooms and yogi dorm, could use a thorough floor cleaning and some handy-fixing, like fixing showers. The staff at Serenity is always amazing, with smiles on their faces, ready to welcome and assist you. The yoga classes are fantastic, taught by highly skilled teachers. Alkaline, their restaurant, serves delicious food, and their chocolate cake is the best. The overall atmosphere is excellent, and many people who initially planned to stay for only a few days ended up extending their stay or returning because they enjoyed it so much. It truly felt like a home away from home.

They provided all the necessary supplies, and the best part was that all the teachers spoke English well.

June 14, 2023 at 12:00 amThe noise around the premises is the only downside, but it’s not really their fault. We should mention that there is a lot of construction going on, so some classes can be noisy. Plus, if you choose to sleep at Seabreeze, there are roosters right outside. June 5, 2023 at 12:00 amHere’s an active voice rewrite in a conversational tone: One thing that really upset me here was the cat situation. They abandoned a small kitten, and even the mom and another kitten were left alone. Sadly, the mom ended up dying, leaving her baby all by itself. Sometimes, he wouldn’t even get food. Luckily, me and a few other girls stepped in to take care of them. But let me tell you, the yoga instructors here are absolutely amazing! I was in love with their classes. But you know what really stood out for me? The staff! Every single person at the reception, the cleaning staff, and the breakfast staff were incredibly kind and sweet. I’m gonna miss them the most.

Serenity as a whole is a truly magical place. Just walking around, you can feel the serenity, even though it’s located in bustling Canggu and right by the beach. The focus on permaculture and healing herbal medicines was a highlight for me, as was the Alkaline cafe – it had the best food of my entire trip! April 27, 2023 at 12:00 amWe had such an amazing time staying at Serenity for a whole month and we really didn’t want to leave. The yoga classes were fantastic and we loved all the different teachers and practices they offered. The pool area was the perfect spot to unwind, and the resort staff were incredibly friendly and attentive to our needs.
The only downside to Serenity was the lack of comfort in some of the private rooms. We tried out four different rooms and unfortunately, all of the mattresses were uncomfortable. It got to the point where we would wake up in the middle of the night with back pain. Trust us, you definitely want to avoid the Tarzan room at all costs. It doesn’t have any AC, lacks privacy, and the smoke from the nearby fires somehow manages to make its way in. Even the resort staff sometimes caught us off guard in the morning with their smoking, just to heat up some water for the restaurant. We let them know and they were kind enough to stop, but other people in the neighborhood burn garbage and rice fields, so it’s just something to keep in mind.
On a positive note, the Alkaline restaurant at the resort is really good. The prices are reasonable and the food is super healthy. The breakfast buffet is decent, but you can definitely find even better food just a short distance away for just a little more money.
Overall, our experience at Serenity was absolutely amazing and we would love to come back again.

The bed is comfortable and it’s covered with curtains and a mosquito net. It’s also pretty dark in the room, even though it’s only half outside! They also tidy up your bed every morning. The breakfast buffet is top-notch! So many different vegan things to try: homemade bread slices and peanut butter/jam, fruit, a different special every time (pumpkin, chickpea soup), and coffee, tea, milk, and juices! The homemade peanut butter and jam are so delicious!!! The restaurant attached to it also has tasty vegan options at a good price.

March 3, 2023 at 12:00 amOther teachers are good too, but they don’t adjust students. I went to Kemi’s class specifically to learn inversion, but she’s not really teaching the step-by-step process. Instead, she simply told me that if I don’t try, I won’t succeed. However, I’m not comfortable attempting inversions without the assistance of someone, as I could potentially injure myself. On the other hand, there are fantastic yoga classes with teachers like Kartana, Mano, Quino, and Yogi. These teachers actively engage with students, ensuring their proper alignment and are genuinely passionate about sharing their knowledge.

January 19, 2023 at 12:00 amYou should definitely do some research about Canggu before going there (I wish I had). It’s not exactly what I expected. It’s full of Westerners and party-goers. Most of the businesses are owned by foreigners. But if you’re looking to party or watch surfers, Canggu is the place to be.
Now let’s talk about the room. It was small, with just one single bed, no desk, and a dresser. It had two windows – one facing the bathroom/shower area and the other facing the side alley where smokers hung out (even though it’s supposed to be a smoking-free resort). It was pretty inconvenient because I could hear people going in and out of the bathroom and sometimes I could smell cigarette smoke in my room.
To make things worse, the WiFi didn’t reach my room, so I couldn’t make video calls and online streaming was a thing of the past. Other rooms didn’t seem to have any WiFi issues though. Not ideal for a 30-day serene yoga retreat, I tell you.
After a few nights, I asked the staff if I could change rooms or pay more for an upgrade. Sadly, they said they were fully booked and their system couldn’t accommodate room swaps. So, I ended up cancelling my stay after just one week and left Canggu.
But hey, I have some positive things to say too. The yoga classes were amazing. The teachers were talented, knowledgeable, and great communicators. I highly recommend them. The staff at the center were also lovely and brought a positive vibe to the environment. And let’s not forget about the beautiful pool area. Although there weren’t many sun loungers, the pool itself was rarely crowded. Most people just hung around, sunbathing. Oh, and I had a wonderful Balinese massage at the spa center next to the pool. The prices were reasonable considering the expertise and location.
Overall, I would definitely do yoga at this facility again, but unfortunately, my accommodation experience wasn’t the best.

March 30, 2020 at 12:00 amIt was my first time in Bali, and overall, I was mostly disappointed by the town of Canggu. It’s very touristy with a superficial “Instagram” vibe. Basically, everything caters to tourists, so if you’re looking for authenticity, I would advise against visiting this town. There is also a lot of pollution, which can make the sea dirty on rainy days.
As for Serenity, the dormitory I stayed in was clean (cleaned daily) and decent, although there were insects and crabs, which was a bit unpleasant. But once we mentioned it to the staff, they did everything they could to fix the issue.
The biggest downside for me was the health aspect. From January to March 2020, many people, including myself, got sick. We thought a bacteria (possibly in the water) was causing the fever, diarrhea, and vomiting that we experienced. However, we don’t know for sure, but it was difficult for many other tourists staying at Serenity.
However, I don’t blame the staff at Serenity, as they must have been troubled by this problem too. For my first solo trip, I decided to go to a center that offered yoga classes, so I wouldn’t be alone in a new country and could deepen my practice. I am not disappointed with choosing Serenity! The place itself is beautiful with a gorgeous pool, the staff is always smiling and attentive, the teachers are excellent, and the vegan food is pretty good. The people I met there were all in a positive and open-minded mood, which made it easy to make connections and led to unforgettable moments. A big thank you for the three Balinese massages included with the one-month package.
I recommend Serenity, and I would definitely go back, if only for the kindness of the teachers and staff, even though Canggu wasn’t a favorite town for me.

March 20, 2020 at 12:00 amSometimes, the toilet seats in the shared bathroom facilities would be dirty. But that’s just because some guests are inconsiderate. One of the instructors took my tokens at the beginning of class and ignored my request to be left alone during my practice, even though I had placed my card there. The accommodations here are simple and eco-friendly. The staff is incredibly helpful and kind. And let me tell you, the vegan breakfast buffet is absolutely amazing. The pool area is so peaceful and relaxing. The yoga classes are really good too. Most of the instructors teach a more modern style of yoga that focuses on movement. But there are also some instructors who incorporate a more traditional practice into their movement practice. So, there’s definitely a class and teacher for everyone here. Plus, this place is super close to an amazing surf spot on the beach and within walking distance of some really nice restaurants. I definitely recommend checking it out!

March 15, 2020 at 12:00 amWe couldn’t find a key to use in the dorm room. The bathrooms weren’t kept clean. The beds felt extremely hard. If you sleep on the bottom bunk, expect centipedes crawling on you at night. The area here is very damp, so you never feel clean or dry unless you leave the dorm. Unfortunately, the food made people sick, so I skipped the breakfast and ate somewhere else. Maybe it’s just my bad luck with this dorm. Others seemed to be fine though. The yoga classes were a lot of fun, and the teachers are really enjoyable and helpful, especially for beginners. The pool is nice. The location is good because it’s a 10-minute walk to the main area, making it quiet and hidden. The staff is lovely and accommodating. When we had no hot water, they fixed it immediately after I mentioned it. It’s a great place to meet people, and there are staff and security available 24/7.

March 14, 2020 at 12:00 amI left the guesthouse slightly disheartened because someone stole my treasured bracelet, as well as my towel and bikini that were drying on a rack. I want to acknowledge that the staff did their best to help by taking down my name and room number in case the items turned up, and I’m really grateful for that. However, I still can’t help but feel a bit sour about the whole situation.
On a positive note, the staff were very friendly, and they provided a shuttle service from S1 to S2 that only took 2 minutes instead of a 10-minute walk in the dark. The food at the guesthouse was absolutely amazing, and it was such a great value. The pool was perfect, and I loved attending all the yoga classes, even though I ended up with aches everywhere afterwards, haha!

If you don’t want to get sick for 4 days like me and many others from the hotel (oddly enough), steer clear of this place and eat outside for much better and cheaper food. The breakfast is tasteless, even though we knew it was vegan, nothing had any flavor. When they ran out of pineapple jam and we asked for more because we didn’t like papaya, they said no because they had to finish the papaya.
Helpful ReviewWe didn’t eat lunch or dinner at the restaurant, so when we asked for two spoons it was impossible to borrow them. We paid 120 euros for the room and yoga for a week, but unlimited yoga for a week costs only 60 euros, and the room (or rather the bed in a dormitory) is not worth 10 euros a night.
The staff is not very welcoming, and there’s not really a nice place to hang out if you don’t consume anything at the restaurant. It’s a shame because we were excited to try the yoga experience in Canggu.
The aerial yoga class was good though, and the location is convenient. The cleanliness of the room and common areas was also satisfactory.

February 12, 2020 at 12:00 amBreakfasts at the resort were boring and lacked imagination, they served the same thing every day and the quality was low. The hygiene standards definitely need some improvement. I mean, come on, having stinky dogs in the restaurant? That’s definitely not a good idea!
However, the yoga teaching and facilities at the resort were excellent. I was pretty satisfied with the accommodation considering the price I paid. The food was just okay, but the quality of breakfasts actually got worse as time went on. And here’s the worst part, there were so many sick people at the resort, all of them saying they got bacterial infections from eating the resort food!

February 3, 2020 at 12:00 amThe rooms aren’t the best, but hey, it’s a cheap retreat, so what can I expect? The breakfast wasn’t all that great either. I’d recommend buying breakfast every morning instead of relying on the buffet. It’s a small buffet, not much variety. However, the yoga classes are absolutely fantastic! All the teachers are amazing, and there’s a wide variety of yoga styles to choose from.

January 28, 2020 at 12:00 amI can’t think of anything right now… but let me tell you about my first solo yoga trip to Serenity Eco guest-house and Yoga. It exceeded all my expectations!
Helpful ReviewThe place had this amazing, chill atmosphere. It was eco-friendly and so relaxing. I felt an instant sense of peace there. The staff members were incredibly kind and helpful, and the yoga classes were absolutely fantastic.
I really wish I could have stayed longer. I’m definitely planning to go back for more classes.
I want to thank all the staff members and yoga instructors for making my trip so enjoyable.

January 21, 2020 at 12:00 amI stayed at Serenity 2 and I loved how close it was to some local houses. However, I was woken up a couple of times by the roosters and dogs. Thankfully, the staff at the dorm was incredibly kind and helpful. They made my stay even better.
The breakfast at Serenity 2 was vegan and absolutely delicious. I couldn’t resist trying their cakes and eating at their restaurant as well, and everything was vegan and tasted amazing. I really appreciate that the whole place is in harmony with their food options, as well as their focus on yoga, spa, and permaculture around the property. They even pay attention to the chemicals they use in the pool, which shows how much they care about their guests’ well-being.
One of the highlights of my stay was joining an ecstatic dance session led by Deva. It was absolutely awesome, although I think they could benefit from a proper sound system. I also really enjoyed the aerial yoga class, which was my favorite experience. You have to try it at least once!
Overall, I felt safe, comfortable, and well taken care of during my time at Serenity 2. It was a lovely stay!

January 20, 2020 at 12:00 amI initially loved the food, but it started to get boring with repetitive dishes. I wanted to avoid salads because they were washed with general water, but most of their dishes had raw ingredients. I’m not exactly sure what their vegan alkaline diet consists of, but I wished they had more legume-based dishes. We did have moong beans one morning for breakfast, but it was a strange sweet porridge. Overall, breakfast was decent, but the fresh juices were more like purees than actual juice.
I could see what looked like a jacuzzi by the pool, but I couldn’t figure out how to turn it on. Our room was right in the center of the complex, but some of the other accommodations were far away and the road leading to them was quite busy at times. I wouldn’t want to stay at those alternate places, even if they offer a shuttle service.
Despite these concerns, I would definitely go back. Booking unlimited yoga classes may have been a bit overly ambitious, but we managed to attend at least one class a day, sometimes even two. There were so many different types and skill levels to choose from, and the classes ran from 7am to 7pm. All of the instructors were excellent and the facilities were top-notch. In fact, all of the staff went above and beyond their duties to assist us. The place was always kept very clean and provided a peaceful environment to relax in. The pool area was amazing and we had a fantastic ensuite room right next to it. The spa treatments were also exceptional and surprisingly affordable. It was just a short walk to the beach as well.

January 16, 2020 at 12:00 amI stayed at serenety2. There were many chickens and roosters around, but they didn’t bother me at all. However, the entrance is a big, loud, and wobbly metal gate that is pushed open and closed all night by people coming and going.
The room is very noisy because the door is a sliding door that doesn’t close completely. The beds are very comfortable though! The AC is very quiet and the pool is very clean.
The breakfast is good, but mostly sweet. They always have sliced fruit, bread with sweet spreads, and a warm dish (baked banana or porridge).
The room itself is small, with just a bed and a mosquito net, but that’s all you need. The bathroom was cleaned every day.

January 10, 2020 at 12:00 amI had a bit of a disappointing breakfast. I wish they had a larger variety and choice. But the yoga classes were excellent! The yoga instructors were motivating, and the staff was also very friendly and helpful.

January 8, 2020 at 12:00 amThe breakfast was not varied enough. I stayed at Serenity Guesthouse 2 and every time I had to bring my things for the pool, yoga… There was no possibility to change because there was no room at Serenity Guesthouse. The yoga classes were great with very competent teachers. The dishes were also very good and the vegan pastries were to die for.

January 6, 2020 at 12:00 amNext door was undergoing noisy construction, and we experienced a power outage one evening. But Serenity couldn’t control these circumstances. However, the staff went above and beyond during the power outage. They explained the situation and ensured that the restaurant remained open. The yoga classes were fantastic! Every teacher was wonderful. Just be sure to book half an hour before the class. Unfortunately, I missed out on a class I wanted because it was fully booked, even though I arrived 15 minutes before it started.

December 21, 2019 at 12:00 amI’m not sure what happened there, but every new person who stayed in the dorm, including myself, and many others in different rooms, experienced a terrible 24-hour sickness with vomiting and diarrhea. It could have been due to the breakfast we all ate, or maybe something related to sanitation or water quality. It’s also possible that it was a 24-hour flu that lingered in that place because of the continuous flow of people. Regardless, every person in the dorm and others in different rooms got sick, and this happened over a span of 10 days that I stayed there.
The yoga sessions were amazing, especially in the open air studios. The pool was beautiful, and the wifi worked fine. The location was perfect, just a few minutes away from the beach. It was a very relaxed atmosphere, and the customer service was extremely helpful and kind.

November 12, 2019 at 12:00 amBreakfast needs more variety, like adding some herbal teas… But, honestly, I have nothing else to complain about. This place felt like home to me, and I made so many friends as a solo female traveler. The yoga options were amazing, with plenty of variety. The food was always fresh and healthy. The staff was always smiling and genuinely happy to see you. Plus, there are plenty of accommodation options to suit all budgets and preferences. The pool area is absolutely beautiful and relaxing. I would definitely come back!

November 11, 2019 at 12:00 amThe beach is located close by. They clean the single bedroom every day and it is simple. All of the yoga instructors were phenomenal. It was ideal to have a restaurant on the premises. The pool is quiet and relaxing. The best part of my stay was meeting all of the lovely people. I will definitely try to go back next year!

September 21, 2019 at 12:00 amThe Serenity operation runs so smoothly, and the staff is absolutely amazing. The food, rooms, yoga classes, massage, and spa services are all top-notch. You won’t believe the incredible value for money you get. I’m absolutely thrilled that I chose to go to Serenity, and I’m already making plans to visit again. September 12, 2019 at 12:00 amThe room isn’t very comfy, it’s quite simple. The shower was almost always cold and could use some cleaning. However, the food was excellent and the yoga teachers and staff were amazing and extremely kind. The safe in the room was practical and easy to use. I absolutely loved the relaxing permaculture and pool area!

September 9, 2019 at 12:00 amI stayed at the Serene rooms, which were just a short distance from the main building. The rooms were great, but I wasn’t a fan of waking up at 4.30 am to the noise of roosters and dogs right outside my window. It didn’t really affect my overall experience, but I definitely didn’t feel well-rested since there was no way to block out the loud noise no matter what I tried, whether it was earplugs or headphones. However, the location and concept of the place were fantastic, and the vibes and staff were amazing.
Kartana was the perfect fit for my yoga style, and I really appreciated how he corrected my poses. On the other hand, Diaz was an incredible yoga instructor, but I felt that his level was way beyond mine. I would have preferred more physical corrections because just showing me the poses didn’t really help considering my limited knowledge and experience with yoga.
The staff, for the most part, were super friendly and helpful. There was only one odd experience I had with the office manager. When I approached him at the desk, he just brushed me off and directed me to another staff member.
Overall, my experience at Serenity Eco Lodge was super duper amazing, and I would highly recommend it.

September 5, 2019 at 12:00 amYou definitely want to avoid staying near Serenity 1 & 2 and Kris Kros: there are roosters that sing all night, accompanied by dogs, and on weekends there’s a parade of surfer scooters that come to party, so be prepared for sleepless nights… The nearby beach is average, with rough waters and black sand, and it’s filled with surfers and kid surfers. But the instructors are excellent. The accommodations in the heart of the complex are actually really good, so don’t get it wrong. The vegan food is tasty and the breakfast is enjoyable.

September 2, 2019 at 12:00 amThe rooms are very noisy.
Helpful ReviewI stayed in Japan and it was a great place, but you could clearly hear the neighbors.
But I stayed in another room where you literally hear your neighbors turning around.
I found it uncomfortable. The yoga classes were really good.
There were many choices.
They held the yoga sessions in different beautiful spaces.
