To reach the temple, you’ll walk along a path flanked by various booths.

March 3, 2024 at 12:00 amSerenity is a fantastic place to stay. It has a great location and offers super healthy and delicious food. The staff is so friendly and nice, you always feel welcomed. Even when I got sick, they took care of me and supported me to recover quickly.
The Yoga classes they offer are amazing and each one I joined was great. I really enjoyed my time there and would definitely come back. I absolutely recommend it! Thank you for everything.

February 17, 2024 at 12:00 amI first stayed in a single bedroom with a fan and it was way too hot. The “window” faced the shared bathroom inside so there was no way to get some fresh air.
Helpful ReviewAfter 9 long hot nights, a room with air conditioning became available, so I switched. There were construction works right behind my room’s wall, all day long, until the end of my stay. I couldn’t enjoy my room (and the A/C) during the day.. the noise from the machines was unbearable. I had to shower with earplugs. And the workers were constantly going back and forth through my small terrace, where a chair was blocked to hang a sign “Thank you for your understanding of the inconvenience caused by the works”.
Other things bothered me like the springs in the mattress, the low water pressure in the shower, the hot water lasting only 3 minutes, the worn-out bath towels that didn’t smell fresh at all, the flooding in my room every morning after a night of rain… Instead of fixing the issue, they asked me by email to put all my belongings up high.. If I could do it again, I would only get the yoga pass and stay somewhere else.
PS: I stayed in the Yang room.
The pool is small but very quiet and surrounded by greenery. The yoga classes were really good. It’s great to have a monthly pass and decide each day what classes to take.
The staff is extremely kind and helpful. From the reception, to the restaurant, security, gardeners, housekeeping,… thank you to all of them for everything!
Very close to the beach, on a rather calm street. Very pleasant.

February 5, 2024 at 12:00 amTo be honest, absolutely nothing. Serenity is truly a magical place. A peaceful, gentle, and bright atmosphere fills the air. From the employees to the residents, everyone exudes a true sense of kindness.
I truly had an idyllic week there. The yoga classes were interesting, spiritual, and challenging, with teachers who genuinely cared about everyone’s well-being, creating a real connection and interaction. There were plenty of classes, so everyone could find something they enjoyed.
Breakfast was delicious and different every morning, with fresh, quality products. I also had dinner at the Guest House, and the cuisine was truly top-notch.
The garden is a paradise, despite being close to the lively atmosphere of Canggu. It feels like you’re in the middle of a jungle, with trees and flowers, and local fauna like squirrels, birds, and small geckos.
The spa and services offered are of impeccable quality, with staff who are attentive and incredibly gentle.
Lastly, the Guest House is ideally located; a stone’s throw away from the beach and amazing sunsets, and close to all the necessary shops and services.
I felt at home at Serenity. I will definitely go back. Thank you to everyone for this wonderful stay.

January 23, 2024 at 12:00 amI loved everything there! The yoga classes at the spa are the best in the world. My favorite class was Hatha, but they also offer yin, power yoga, and sunset flow with the amazing teacher Qino! Qino always gave clear instructions, made appropriate adjustments, and offered different options for all levels. The yoga shalas and rooms are very clean. The food at the cafe is delicious and fresh. Everyone who works there is very friendly. You’ll never be bored because there’s always a fun and friendly atmosphere! I will definitely return there again! I will miss you guys!

January 19, 2024 at 12:00 amI didn’t like that they allowed people to join class after it started. It’s chaotic when people show up late, like 15 minutes or more, and try to squeeze in between mats. I think it’s disrespectful to the yoga instructors and everyone in the class. Most places I’ve been don’t allow it. I think it should be a rule.
But I really loved being there. The yoga instructors, Diaz, Qino, and Yogi, were amazing. Their energy was fantastic and they were so friendly and nice. The yoga classes were challenging but fun. The staff was really friendly too, and the place was beautiful with lots of plants around the pool.

December 20, 2023 at 12:00 amIn Canggu, you’ll find a ton of options, but trust me, I found the absolute best one! The staff here is incredible – they’re super friendly and always going above and beyond. They clean the accommodations every day, even in the dorms, so you always have fresh towels and beds made. And the yoga classes are top-notch with really talented instructors. Plus, there’s such a great community vibe with the pool and lounge chairs. I stayed here for 12 nights and hardly left, except for a quick walk to the beach. I’d definitely come back without a doubt.

The proximity to the beach and shops.
The yoga teachers are very professional and knowledgeable, especially Kemie with whom I took a lot of inversion classes. They are all insightful.

October 4, 2023 at 12:00 amI wasn’t too fond of Canggu, but it’s not the center’s fault. Just make sure you book a room with a private bathroom if you value your privacy. The option for single rooms without a bathroom is cheaper, but they’re so small that I felt claustrophobic. The whole staff is incredibly friendly and they really go the extra mile to be sustainable, support local businesses, and serve organic food. The restaurant and yoga classes are absolutely incredible. The dorms are spacious, perfect for those who enjoy this type of travel. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, especially if you’re into surfing since the spot is so close.

June 14, 2023 at 12:00 amThe noise around the premises is the only downside, but it isn’t really their fault. We have to mention that there’s a lot of construction going on nearby, so some of the classes can get noisy. April 27, 2023 at 12:00 amWe spent a month in Serenity and we wanted to extend our stay.
We tried out all the yoga classes and we enjoyed all the different teachers and practices. The pool area is great for unwinding, and the resort staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive.
The only downside to Serenity is the lack of comfort in some of the private rooms. We tested out 4 rooms and found all the mattresses uncomfortable. We even woke up during the night with back pain. Avoid the Tarzan room at all costs – it lacks AC, privacy, and absorbs smoke from nearby fires. While the staff were accommodating when we mentioned it, other people in the area burn garbage and rice fields. Just a heads up.
The Alkaline restaurant is decent. Prices are reasonable and the food is very healthy. The breakfast buffet is good, but there are better options nearby for slightly more money.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience and we would definitely come back.

The bed is comfy and surrounded by curtains and a mosquito net. The room is pretty dark, even in the daytime! They tidy up your bed every morning. The breakfast buffet is amazing! So many different vegan options to try: homemade bread slices with peanut butter/jam, fruit, a different special dish each day (pumpkin, chickpea soup), and coffee, tea, milk, and juices! The homemade peanut butter and jam are delicious! The on-site restaurant also has tasty vegan options at a good price.

March 3, 2023 at 12:00 amOther teachers are good too, but they don’t adjust students. I went to Kemi’s class to learn inversion, but she’s not really breaking it down step by step. Instead, she just told me “if you’re not gonna try, you won’t be able to do it,” but I won’t attempt inversions without someone assisting me or I might hurt myself. January 19, 2023 at 12:00 amI initially booked a private room with a shared bathroom for 30 days.
Canggu turned out to be a different experience than I expected. It’s been taken over by westerners and partygoers, according to the Balinese locals I met. Most businesses are now owned by foreigners. If you’re into partying and seeing surfers, Canggu is the place to be.
The room I stayed in was small with just a single bed, no desk, and one dresser. There were two windows – one facing the bathroom/shower area and the other looking out onto the alley where people smoke (despite it being a smoking-free resort). It was inconvenient hearing and smelling things from outside in my room.
The Wifi didn’t reach my room, making video calls and online streaming impossible. This wasn’t ideal for a 30-day yoga retreat.
After a few nights, I asked to change rooms or pay for an upgrade. But they said they were fully booked and couldn’t switch rooms. So, I ended up canceling my stay after the first week.
On the bright side, the yoga classes and teachers were fantastic, highly recommended! The staff was also lovely and brought a positive vibe. The pool area was beautiful, though not many spots for sunbathing. The spa nearby was great too, offering excellent massages at good prices.
Overall, I would definitely do yoga again at this facility, but my accommodation experience wasn’t the best.

March 30, 2020 at 12:00 amIt was my first time in Bali and I was mostly disappointed by the city of Canggu, which is very touristy with a superficial “Instagram” vibe. Basically, everything is catered to tourists so if you’re looking for authenticity, I wouldn’t recommend this city. Pollution is also a big issue, which can make the sea dirty on rainy days.
As for Serenity, the dorm I stayed in was clean (cleaned daily) and decent, although there were insects and even crabs, which was a bit unpleasant but not a big deal. Once we mentioned it to the staff, they did everything they could to fix it.
The major downside for me was health. From January to March 2020, a lot of people got sick, myself included. We thought a bacteria (possibly from the water) was causing the fever, diarrhea, and vomiting we experienced. We don’t know for sure, but it was tough for many other tourists staying at Serenity.
However, I don’t blame the staff at Serenity, who must have been bothered by this issue too. For my first solo trip, I decided to go to a center offering yoga classes so I wouldn’t be alone in a new country and could deepen my practice. I’m not disappointed I chose Serenity! The place itself is beautiful with a lovely pool, the staff always smiling and attentive, excellent teachers, and pretty good vegan food. The people I met there all had a positive and open attitude, which made it easy to connect and have unforgettable experiences. A big thank you for the three Balinese massages included in the one-month package.
I recommend Serenity and just for the kindness of the teachers and staff, I would go back even though Canggu wasn’t my favorite city.

March 20, 2020 at 12:00 amSometimes guests are inconsiderate and leave the shared bathroom facilities unclean, especially the toilet seats. One instructor in particular took the tokens at the start of class and ignored my request to be left alone with my practice, as I had indicated with the card. The accommodations here are simple and eco-friendly, and the staff is incredibly helpful and kind. You have to try the vegan breakfast buffet – it’s AMAZING. The pool area is so peaceful, and the yoga classes are good. Most of the instructors have a modern style focused on movement, while some incorporate a more traditional practice as well. No matter your preference, there’s a class and teacher for everyone here. Plus, you’re super close to an amazing surf spot at the beach and within walking distance of some great restaurants. I definitely recommend this place!

It’s so damp here that you never feel clean or dry unless you leave the dorm. I skipped the breakfast because it made people sick. Maybe it’s just my dorm luck. The yoga classes are a blast, especially if you’re new to it. The teachers are super fun and helpful. The pool is awesome. It’s a 10-minute walk to the main area, so it’s quiet and hidden. On the bright side, the staff was friendly and you could catch a quick 2-minute shuttle from S1 to S2 instead of walking in the dark for 10 minutes. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The pool was fantastic, and I loved every yoga class (even though I left with sore muscles everywhere!). Thanks, Serenity, for a wonderful holiday.

March 10, 2020 at 12:00 amIn Serenity 2, the roosters were very loud (louder than expected) and the bathroom smelled sometimes. They were doing construction in front of the main building, which was also loud. I didn’t think the dorms here (Serenity 1) were decorated as nicely as in Serenity 2. The staff was very nice, helpful, and accommodating. The food was good, the yoga classes were mostly great, and the location was fantastic. The pool was also very nice and I felt comfortable. In Serenity 2, there isn’t any air conditioning but each bed has its own fan. They have mosquito nets on all beds in both buildings – which is a huge plus.

March 8, 2020 at 12:00 amThe accommodations in Serenity 2 are far from block 1 and not as well-equipped as the ones in Serenity 1. Our air conditioning broke down and it took 5 days before they fixed it, the temperature was unbearable.
Also, I booked through bookyogaretreat which promised 30 days of unlimited yoga classes, but I still had to pay for the classes. This is not fair for the price I paid.

February 17, 2020 at 12:00 amAvoid the alkaline restaurant at all costs! The banana bread tastes like play-dough, and if you don’t want to end up sick for four days like me and a lot of other guests at the same time (weird, right?), then steer clear of that place and eat somewhere else for much better food at a lower price. Breakfast was bland, even though we knew it was vegan. When we asked for more pineapple jam because we didn’t like papaya, we were told no because we had to finish the papaya first.
We didn’t eat lunch or dinner at the restaurant, but when we asked for two spoons, they wouldn’t lend them to us. We paid 120 euros for the room and yoga for the week, but unlimited yoga for a week only costs 60 euros, and we felt like the room (more like a bunk bed in a dorm) wasn’t worth 10 euros a night.
The staff wasn’t very friendly, and there wasn’t really a nice place to hang out if you didn’t buy something at the restaurant. It’s a shame because we were excited to try yoga in Canggu. The aerial yoga class, location, and cleanliness of the room and common areas were positives, though.
