It also promotes good health, mental hygiene, and emotional stability. Join us to discover your true self and learn techniques for a fulfilling life.
In this yoga teacher training course, we offer the first part of a 200-hour certification. Many people who can’t dedicate 4 weeks to the full course choose this option. It’s a great way to complete the training in two manageable parts, known as the 1st and 2nd semesters.
Yoga education is beneficial for self-discipline, self-control, and increasing awareness, concentration, and consciousness. The goals of this course include improving health, practicing mental hygiene, developing emotional stability, integrating moral values, attaining a higher level of consciousness, and being able to teach oneself and others.
Once you complete the 100-hour course, you have the option to join Bali Yoga School at any time to finish the second semester and receive your 200-hour certification. If you can’t come to the school campus, we offer an online option for the second semester. After completing the full 200-hour course, you’ll receive a globally recognized certificate allowing you to teach yoga anywhere in the world.

Food is crucial for providing energy and nourishment to our bodies. The types and quality of food we consume have a direct impact on our physical and mental well-being. In yoga, food is not just seen as nutrition for the body, but also as an essential part of the practice. A balanced yogic lifestyle requires us to consider the energy and nutrients that our bodies need. Have you ever noticed how the food you eat affects your yoga practice?
Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, teaches us about the influence of different foods on our overall well-being – physically, spiritually, and mentally. According to Ayurveda, “Sattva” refers to the purity of our self-control and spiritual well-being, and it is reflected in qualities like intelligence, virtue, awareness, and happiness. Sattvic foods promote purity in both mind and body. They nourish the mind, making it clear, compassionate, and calm. A sattvic diet also sharpens our intellect. The Bhagavad-Gita states that sattvic food is light and easy-to-digest, filled with purity or prana, which fosters positive thoughts and satisfaction. Following a sattvic diet can keep you alert, refreshed, and peaceful.
Taking inspiration from Ayurveda, our yoga course includes delicious vegan meals three times a day. Our experienced and lovely kitchen team prepares the food hygienically and with love. We offer an unlimited buffet style of various vegetarian dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Additionally, we provide drinks to keep you hydrated throughout the day.
So, when you join our course, you can look forward to enjoying tasty and nutritious meals included in the program. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks are all part of the package.
Included in the price is one complimentary full-body massage at Bali Yoga School’s in-house spa. You can also choose from a variety of treatments available at an additional cost.

November 28, 2022 at 12:00 amRooms infested with cockroaches – I had to throw away my suitcase full of cockroaches. Repetitive food (closed kitchen on weekends or disgusting porridge) with no nearby options for dining – Yoga class for beginners, not for teaching. One student left urgently, feeling sad and sick. They pass off lack of hygiene and seriousness as authenticity. In the kitchen, cleaning, and teaching, there are no women, only local village men (not even smiling – not a safe environment). We are far from the welcoming and spiritual India. The founder is never around; the heart of an ashram is its GURU. Run away from this place; they make a monstrous amount of money and forget how much we sacrifice (time/money) to fulfill a DREAM! This dream is trampled by people who only care about one thing: money, and without any decent service or classes, nor a good atmosphere. I don’t criticize the three teachers who were quite nice and did their best with limited resources. Anatomy class was a big joke, with a tiny skeleton and an unintelligible lecture. In my entire life, I’ve never left such a harsh review, but I say this to women dedicated to their art and love for yoga: go somewhere else. I left with a fever of 40 degrees, and it took me a month to recover – they left me without hot water for 8 days, a smelly blanket, and the list goes on! It was a massive shock and disgust.

November 8, 2022 at 12:00 amI really enjoyed everything about this school. One of the things I liked was that we had access to all the yoga root. They started the learning by diving into the history of yoga and its philosophy, which gave us a big picture before delving into the specifics. The courses were structured and explained really well. The teachers were thorough in explaining how to perform the postures, ensuring we avoided injuries and catered to each person’s level.

October 31, 2022 at 12:00 amSometimes we didn’t edit the videos, but that’s what I loved about it. I could take the course at my own pace, whether it was within a month or three months. The recorded lessons, led by real Indian yogis and yoginis, were my absolute favorite. And the locations they chose for filming made me feel like I was actually in Rishikesh.

October 29, 2022 at 12:00 amThe asana practice at the school was of poor quality. They never properly interview the teachers they hire and don’t test their skill and knowledge. Some teachers are hired simply because of personal connections, even if they don’t have enough teaching experience with a specific style of yoga.
Each batch of students doesn’t have a set curriculum for their yoga practice. The experience of each batch depends on the luck of which teachers they have. I stayed at the school for 2 months and saw how changing the teachers completely changed the experience for each batch.
It’s important to note that the founder of the school doesn’t participate in teaching and his experience doesn’t matter to you. The information shared on the website is his own personal knowledge and revelations, which he doesn’t share with students because he doesn’t teach or train the teachers at the school.
There isn’t a class that properly trains you in the essence of teaching. You don’t get prepared to teach, you only learn some basic theoretical concepts and practice yoga for yourself.
They don’t teach the anatomy of yoga asanas, or what each asana is meant to do for your mind and body. The practice at the school is very mindless, just doing for the sake of doing.
The course felt more like a yoga retreat than a teacher’s training program, and even the quality of the retreat is questionable.
The food quality and timing at the school violates Ayurvedic and yogic rules. On a positive note, the philosophy teacher at the school is amazing. She is highly knowledgeable and emits serene energy. She explains yogic philosophical concepts in an easy and accessible manner. She emphasizes the true essence of yoga as the path of liberation, rather than the misconception of it being solely a physical practice. However, it is important to note that she will not be at the school in November and December, which should be considered when thinking of applying for the YTT.

October 19, 2022 at 12:00 amI took the 300 hours course by following the pre-recorded online classes. Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend the live classes because I live in another continent. However, the learning experience was excellent because the program of the recorded classes is easy to follow and provides a lot of valuable information. The asanas practices were also fantastic as they taught me various techniques. The teachers are highly knowledgeable and explain everything in great detail. I highly recommend this course, especially for those who, like me, have limited time during the week and need to divide their learning.

September 15, 2022 at 12:00 amI absolutely adore this school and these teachers. There are so many things that truly satisfy me about it!
First off, the structure of the classes is just perfect. They offer both pre-recorded sessions and live ones, which allows me to study at my own pace. Plus, there’s dedicated time for self-study, which I find really helpful.
The teachers are incredible – they’re enthusiastic, helpful, and wonderful at what they do. Whenever I have questions or doubts, they respond quickly and provide me with proper guidance. It’s such a relief to have their support.
The pre-recorded videos are a goldmine of information. I can learn so much from them, and what’s even better is that I can pause and review whenever I need to. It’s a fantastic way to ensure I truly grasp the material.
By the way, I have a little tip for studying. After each lesson, I like to summarize what I’ve learned. It really helps me remember and makes revision a breeze. Plus, it’s proven to be super handy for theory exams!
Oh, and guess what? I’m actually planning on enrolling in their 300-hour course. That’s how much I love this place! Huge thanks to HYA and BYS – you guys are amazing!

June 22, 2022 at 12:00 amI would have definitely preferred not to have certain experiences like being bitten by a dog and injuring my back…but now, they serve as fond memories of a memorable time with amazing people… and a reminder of what aspects of my personality to let go…; ) The instructors were all incredibly knowledgeable, especially Shanti, who truly masterfully shares her knowledge. She is able to adapt to any group, any level, and any situation that arises. It was truly marvelous to witness her teachings, from philosophy to meditation and pranayama. Her consistent and structured approach created a secure foundation for growth and exploration of different topics. Overall, this school provides a safe and welcoming environment to practice and delve into the different aspects of yoga. I genuinely appreciated it! The teachers are always reachable and they answer our questions during the live sessions, via email, or on the course page. At the end of the classes, there is both a written test and a practical test. This helps ensure that the course maintains a high level of quality.

February 8, 2021 at 12:00 amI didn’t find anything else. I was sad when I clicked on the last video because it meant that the new learning videos were over. But I’m determined to continue with HYA’s YTT 300 and YTT 500. The pre-recorded videos for the online course were really good and well-presented. They were easy to understand. Yogini Neelam was the person I contacted and she always responded quickly to my questions. I gained a lot of valuable knowledge from the online course alone, and now I’m saving up to go on the YTT 300 hours and actually experience Rishikesh. I’m excited to learn more deeply about Yoga and Himalayan Yoga Ashram teaches Yoga in an authentic way that captures the essence of what it’s all about. I’m really glad I chose them to be my first teachers in my Yoga training. ?

February 7, 2020 at 12:00 amThe accommodations are very poor. They should hire more staff to clean properly. December 6, 2019 at 12:00 amSometimes, the food wasn’t sufficient and lacked variety. The mandatory visit to the orphanage felt dreadful because it resembled a zoo. The yoga school is located about thirty minutes away from Rishikesh by car, making it a quieter and more peaceful environment compared to Tapovan/Rishikesh. This is ideal for relaxing and savoring the atmosphere. The classes, attended by only 14-15 individuals, focused on Vinyasa, Asthange, and Alignment. The Sunday excursion to the temple was truly incredible. Ankit, Rahul, Kirti, and Bipin were exceptional yogis.

December 2, 2019 at 12:00 amI’m sorry, but I have to give this place/course a negative review. Normally, I don’t like giving negative reviews and would prefer not to, but I thought it might be helpful for others. The actual place where we stayed was new and not the one that the good reviews were talking about. The teachers were also new and quite young, most of them lacking experience in teaching. There was a lack of teaching methodology and they didn’t cover many things from their own workbook, like certain poses and anatomy. Additionally, there was a lack of organization and responsibility from some of the teachers. I’m sorry, but I wouldn’t recommend it. However, in general, doing a yoga course in India is a wonderful experience. Rishikesh is a fascinating place with interesting people, and if you’re on the yoga path, I would definitely suggest going, but perhaps with another school.

September 2, 2019 at 12:00 amManagement could have been more consistently present, and we sometimes missed that personal connection. It would be better if things were more organized, like knowing if we had exams at the end of the course and having a clear syllabus and learning outcomes, especially in yoga therapy and anatomy. But overall, I had a great experience and I’m glad I took part in the HYA training. Rajesh Rawat, my alignment and vinyasa yoga teacher, and Bhavesh Yuj, my philosophy teacher, were both excellent. I was so lucky to have amazing fellow students. We became like a family and had a truly special experience together. It was unforgettable. As for HYA, the accommodation was clean and in a great location – quiet but not too far from the center. The food was delicious, and the staff did their best to make us happy. The days were intense, but the schedule was well thought out. It’s common for instructors to change from month to month in schools across Rishikesh, so don’t be surprised if the instructor listed on the website isn’t the one teaching you.

February 18, 2019 at 12:00 amIt’s hard to believe in someone who doesn’t give any constructive feedback, right?! But let me suggest two things to improve:
1) The daily schedule is already intense, so it’s important for the students to respect the time and for the teacher to finish each class as planned, or at least start the next one a little later. Sometimes just a 15-minute break can make a big difference!
2) It’s not just about yoga. From my own personal experience, I would recommend making sure that all the blankets and bedroom amenities are properly washed between each Teacher Training. Maybe I was just unlucky, but it wasn’t a big deal to ask for a new one.
I have to say, everyone at the Ashram has always been incredibly helpful whenever I needed anything! I’m so grateful for everything, from the first email I sent before booking my flight, to the last day when I had health issues. The Himalayan Yoga Association Family gave me the most genuine yoga experience of my life, and believe me, I’ve had a few! I’ve practiced with famous Ashtanga Mysore Certified Teachers and attended rigorous Iyengar Yoga workshops, all of which were great, but this experience was truly something special.
Even though you might be skeptical when you first see that all the teachers seem quite young, every single person you’ll meet at the Ashram, from the office to the kitchen, has something really unique (and rare to find nowadays!) – humble passion, deep knowledge and curiosity about anatomy and philosophy, and absolutely no fake or unnecessary stuff. It’s just plain and simple yoga in the best and fullest way possible.
So, in my opinion, book it!

December 31, 2018 at 12:00 amWe were all pleasantly surprised when we ended up isolated in the “jungle” – it was incredibly refreshing and peaceful to be away from the city. However, the cold weather caught us off guard, and we struggled to adapt to it. The living conditions aren’t the easiest, but it’s all about how we perceive it: either as an unpaid experience or something meant for us to learn from.

But spending two weeks with such amazing people who shared the same purpose, and all the special moments we had with our instructors, it felt like we were one big family. Even though it was only two weeks, saying goodbye was incredibly difficult.
And let me just say, the food was absolutely incredible! Being served delicious Indian vegetarian meals three times a day was a true luxury. Our favorite gurus, Vivek and Pradeep, spent their days with us, shared their meals, and made us feel like we were a part of something truly important. Thank you all for this wonderful experience.

December 5, 2018 at 12:00 amThe anatomy course lacked structure and formality, but it was still interesting. I believe that a more comprehensive understanding of anatomy should be included in order to become a qualified yoga teacher.
I found the meditation course to be frustrating. There was no explanation of the theory behind it, the benefits, or any gradual buildup of the practice. We were thrown into 50 minutes of meditation on the first day. However, the teachers were amazing. They were incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic. Being taught by Satish (ashtanga) and Rajesh (alignment) was truly a privilege.
The location is fantastic. It’s situated near the top of the town, away from the noisy traffic. A short walk uphill will lead you into the serene mountains and forest, with a beautiful stream, clean air, and a waterfall. On the other hand, a quick walk downhill takes you to the Ganga River, shops, restaurants, transportation options, and travel agencies.

October 26, 2018 at 12:00 amThe staff at this place is amazing! They are always so helpful, kind, and open to our suggestions. They are also really flexible, which is wonderful. Whenever we have questions, they patiently explain the topics to us. They make us feel appreciated for asking questions too!
The practices here are both challenging and inspiring. They really push us to grow and improve.
Before going out for our days-off activities, they make sure to discuss and plan everything with us. It’s great to feel involved in the decision-making process. They really take care of everyone and make sure we’re all comfortable.
The food here is fantastic! There is a wide variety of options and everything tastes so fresh. If you’re not a fan of spicy food, they can accommodate that too. They even have an in-house eatery, so we can enjoy food outside of school hours as well.
Every single person on the staff has been so nice and helpful. We really appreciate them all.
Lastly, a huge thank you to Pammi and Rita for offering their babysitting services. It’s been such a relief to have them help take care of my daughter during classes. And of course, a big thank you to Pradeep for being such a kind soul.

October 7, 2018 at 12:00 amNow let’s talk about the negatives. The training promised to be an advanced Vinyasa and Ashtanga YTTC, but unfortunately, it fell short in the Vinyasa aspect. Our Vinyasa teacher essentially ran a bootcamp for 2 weeks without any flow or synchronization with the breath. It consisted of a rushed 50-minute warm-up with lots of quick repetitions and holds, followed by a bunch of Sun Salutations and only 2 or 3 actual Asanas before cooldown. Throughout the entire practice, there was no instruction on advanced poses or guidance on building a flow for more experienced yogis. Even after a few of us spoke to the office about it, nothing changed.
After 2 weeks, we finally started teaching, but felt unprepared because there was only 1 hour dedicated to learning how to plan a class and work on a flow throughout the entire 300-hour course. This lack of teaching theory and actual Vinyasa instruction was disappointing, especially since some of us had already requested more.
To make matters worse, the first 4 people who taught their Vinyasa classes had a disengaged teacher who played with his phone, keys, and even took naps. He didn’t provide any valuable feedback either. It’s safe to say that I didn’t learn any teaching methods or advanced Vinyasa practices, which was a major reason for choosing this training. On the last day, the teacher didn’t even show up, showing a lack of respect and leaving us feeling even more let down. None of the staff at the office seemed to care about our concerns.
Now, let’s discuss the positives of this training. Our theory teachers, who covered alignment, anatomy, pranayama, yoga therapy, meditation, and philosophy, were truly amazing. They had a wealth of knowledge, and I feel like I learned a lot from them. However, when it came to alignment and anatomy, it felt more like a review of what I had already learned in my 200-hour course. I was hoping for more in-depth information about advanced poses, especially since this was marketed as an advanced YTTC. Nonetheless, going back to the basics and revisiting those concepts was beneficial.
I must mention that Satish, our Ashtanga teacher, was absolutely incredible. I loved his teaching style, even though Ashtanga isn’t my preferred practice. I still gained a lot from his classes and looked forward to attending them every day.

October 1, 2018 at 12:00 amThe school felt like such a wonderful place, brimming with positivity, love, and great teachers—it was more like a family. It gave me a fit, clean, and healthy body and mind, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone considering a teaching course.

I wish you and HYA all the best!

September 23, 2018 at 12:00 amIt felt more like a business than a school or yoga ashram. The class sizes were very large. The accommodation had damp and mould on the wall, which was really unhealthy, and the WiFi didn’t work for a few weeks. However, the Ashtanga teacher was excellent, and the food was nice!

September 18, 2018 at 12:00 amI think it would be great if the yoga mats were cleaned more often. They only provide water infused with antibacterial leaves once or twice a week, but I would prefer if it was refreshed more frequently.
Some people have complaints about the cafeteria food, but personally, I really enjoy it and feel safe eating there. I heard the menu was designed to align with an ayurvedic diet, but most of the time, I didn’t know the names of the dishes. It would be helpful if they could let us know what we’re eating.
Our school is in an amazing location in Rishikesh – up in the mountains, peaceful and away from the busy town. Besides the classes, the staff and teachers also try to organize trips into nature to help us recharge and connect. One of my favorite memories there was doing morning yoga outside by the Ganga River!
I also appreciate how the teachers are always there to answer our questions and guide us with helpful prep exercises.

September 8, 2018 at 12:00 amThe Himalayan Yoga Association in Rishikesh changed my life. I’ve learned more about yoga in two months here than I ever thought possible. The teachers have boundless knowledge and teach with so much love and passion. The kitchen staff works incredibly hard every single day to ensure all the students are fed and taken care of. The building owners warmly welcome us into their home and truly make us feel like family. And spending these two months in Rishikesh itself, with its incredible culture of people, temples, food, and mountains, opened my eyes and helped me grow spiritually, mentally, and physically (thanks to all those chaturangas!).
Sending love and light,

September 1, 2018 at 12:00 amI had an amazing experience during my 300-hour program. The teachers were so knowledgeable, and I learned a ton in such a short time. My favorite parts were the yoga therapy sessions, the alignment lessons, and Satish’s beautiful singing at the end of each Ashtanga class. It was such a fantastic experience, and I absolutely recommend it.

August 25, 2018 at 12:00 amI personally think one intense yoga class a day is sufficient. Surprisingly, I feel like it’s too much of Yoga (Asana), something I never thought I’d say. The food, although prepared excellently by the kitchen staff, was pretty much the same and delicious every day. The teachers are all incredibly skilled and pleasant. They are truly passionate about the subject and Yoga. I found the alignment classes, yoga therapy, philosophy, and anatomy to be incredibly informative and beneficial. The Yoga classes were also fantastic. Overall, it was an intense and amazing experience. Thank you so much! I absolutely loved it!

June 29, 2018 at 12:00 amContent and design …I found the theory on yoga to be lacking depth. It seemed shallow and unprofessional. The teachers were young and inexperienced. The only class that I found useful for me was the ashtang yoga practicals and alignment class taught by Rajesh.

April 30, 2018 at 12:00 amNothing is super amazing. I just don’t like how quickly time passes by. The teachers here are perfect. They teach philosophy, anatomy, vinyasa, alignment, and ashtanga in a way that even an idiot could understand. All the classes are very interesting and I’ve started to love learning. I want to give a special shoutout to the vinyasa and ashtanga teachers. I’ve been doing yoga for over six years and I’ve tried a lot of teachers in Germany, Spain, India, and the Czech Republic, but the teachers in this school are exceptionally perfect professionals. They really push you to be better. By the way, I spent over a month searching for a yoga school (TTC) all over the world, and I am the happiest person because I chose this one.

April 9, 2018 at 12:00 amI sometimes couldn’t understand the English, but that was mainly because of the background noise. Fortunately, they’re moving to a quieter place! So if you’re looking for a well-structured school with knowledgeable and caring people, this is the school for you. Going to India and undergoing teacher training was an amazing experience. All the teachers are highly qualified, attentive, and dedicated. It felt like the missing piece of my puzzle fell into place, and even if you think you already know a lot, there’s still so much to learn here. They continuously push you to higher levels. I’m extremely grateful for this wonderful experience. Thank you, everyone. I’m excited to come back again!

March 31, 2018 at 12:00 amI felt like the philosophy and meditation classes were lacking a bit of spirituality, and I was hoping for a bit more, especially in India. But maybe the teachers were a little too young for that (in their early 20s). The teachers were knowledgeable in their subjects, and they excelled in the physical aspects (asanas, alignment, anatomy) of the classes.
