Food

Food gives life-giving energy to our bodies and is an important element for our well-being. The quality and types of food we eat impact both our physical and mental health. From a yogic perspective, food is more than just nutrition for our bodies. When practicing yoga, it’s essential to supplement our bodies with the right nutrients and consider the energetic aspect of nutrition.

Have you ever noticed how your food intake affects your yoga practice? Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, teaches us about the impact of different foods on our overall well-being – physically, spiritually, and mentally. According to Ayurveda, “Sattva” represents purity in terms of self-control and spiritual well-being. Sattvic foods promote purity of both mind and body. They nurture the mind, make it clear, compassionate, and calm. In addition, a sattvic diet helps sharpen our intellect and promotes positive thoughts and satisfaction.

Following the teachings of Ayurveda, our yoga course provides students with tasty vegan meals three times a day. Our experienced and lovely kitchen team prepares the meals hygienically and with love. The meals are served buffet-style, and we offer a variety of vegetarian dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Plus, we provide drinks to keep you refreshed throughout the day.

In summary, our meals include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks, all prepared with care and served in an unlimited buffet style. By following this diet, you can stay alert, refreshed, and peaceful during your yoga practice and beyond.

I didn’t dislike anything in particular. It’s just that the other attendees were surprised when they saw me. You see, I was the only one doing a yoga retreat while everyone else was doing yoga teacher training.

But hey, I still had a great time! I went into it with a positive attitude and a thirst for knowledge. And let me tell you, the staff at Bali Yoga School blew me away. They were so nice and always ready to help. They made me feel like part of the family.

Now, I’m not a vegan, but wow, the food they served was amazing! Every meal was a treat. The fruits were incredibly sweet, and the rest of the dishes were bursting with flavor. Plus, they had these cool names that caught my attention.

I didn’t go on a retreat; I spent 5 days doing it alone. Then, I joined a group of 10 people who were doing the 200 hours in just one month. They had been practicing yoga every day for two weeks and their goal was to become teachers, so their level was different from mine. It wasn’t a relaxing experience; the purpose of the 200 hours was to learn quickly and get the certification, rather than enjoying the practice of yoga as I had expected. Maybe they should inform people joining the retreat about the type of group they are entering. The place is really amazing, the staff is incredible, and the rooms are really nice.

The accommodation wasn’t great… and it was expensive for what we got. It was loud and narrow, with not much space to hang out and have some privacy. The food was good, but it was always the same. On the bright side, the teachers were excellent and the people there were nice, friendly, and always ready to help. Despite some drawbacks, everything went well overall.

The instructors at this place were really nice and had a positive approach. I learned a lot in just two weeks. The classes flowed smoothly and we got longer breaks to rest and relax between lunch and the next class. I highly recommend this place and the people who work there – they were all very friendly and helpful. It’s such a peaceful and relaxing place. I’ll definitely come back for another class when I’m in Bali. Thanks for such a nice experience.

Sometimes, I would get hungry after finishing my meal portion. But, I would just prepare some instant food instead, so it was all good. 🙂 I really love this school. Overall, I would give it a score of 9.5 out of 10.

    Here are the reasons why:
    1. The accommodation is really nice, it’s clean and cozy, plus there’s a swimming pool surrounded by trees.
    2. The people here are so friendly and welcoming.
    3. The air feels so fresh and invigorating.
    4. The teachers are awesome, they’re really cool and always there to support and help us.
    5. And the best part is, we get to do yoga all day long. It’s such a great way to relax and stay fit.

The 300hr Yoga Teacher training with Himalayan Yoga Ashram exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend it. The course provided an amazing amount of information, covering everything from daily yoga practices to anatomy classes. I was impressed by the deep discussions we had with different teachers about yoga philosophy, meditation, breathing techniques, Mudra practice, and Ayurveda.

What really stood out for me was how the anatomy classes laid a strong foundation in understanding the mechanics of the body. It was presented in a relatable way, making it easy to grasp. The feedback on assignments was helpful and motivating, allowing me to reflect on my progress.

Completing the course not only deepened my knowledge but also strengthened my love for yoga. It gave me the confidence to teach in a classroom setting and inspired me to continue learning and practicing. I’m grateful for this opportunity to walk the path of yoga.

N.A. Himalayan Yoga Association offers a comprehensive teaching manual that is perfect for our yoga journey. We can watch the pre-recorded training videos whenever and wherever we want, at our own speed. The daily zoom live classes help us understand various yoga topics, and we can ask the teachers any questions we have. I really hope to visit Rishikesh one day. Thanks so much for this amazing course, especially to Saumya-ji who deserves special thanks.

I’m incredibly grateful for this experience, thank you so much. I participated in the 300hr Online Yogateacher Training in November this year. It was such an amazing experience for me. The Yoga Theory live classes were so clear and organized, the information was just perfect, and I absolutely loved immersing myself in yoga for a whole month. Surprisingly, I connected with the other students in the course and it felt like we were part of a small community, which was really lovely. I was not expecting that from an online training, so it was a pleasant surprise. I also had a great time during the practical live classes and I’m so happy that I got to learn Ashstanga Yoga. The small groups in this online yoga teacher training made it feel more intimate and less anonymous, so I could ask any questions I had during the live classes. Thank you all so much, Bali Yoga School and HYA. Namaste.

The place was so peaceful, and I really enjoyed my time there. The teachers, Shanti ji, Ida ji, and Niki ji, were amazing. I learned so much from them, and I’m truly grateful to have met such beautiful souls in my life. Dewa ji made me feel right at home. I felt a lack of protein in the meals since I’m not a vegetarian, which wasn’t enough for the physical effort required. As a result, I personally lost a lot of weight, and in my case, it’s not a positive thing.

They should clean the rooms better, especially the areas with insects.

I would have loved to stay longer, but I will definitely come back. ??

The place is stunning, the schedule is perfect, and the food is very beautiful and delicious.

The professors are absolutely incredible. They made me feel comfortable right away, and despite their young age, you can tell they are experts in their field, whether it’s theory or practice. Neelam Ji is funny and passionate. Durgesh Ji is calm and soothing. Rahul Ji is very professional and patient, and lastly Ankit Ji, my favorite teacher, is fun and challenging – a breath of fresh air in class. Thank you to all four of you for your kindness, patience, and the passion you put into your work. I won’t hesitate to have the same experience with the same teachers again. ❤️?

I want to give a special thanks to Durgesh ji and Dewa ji for taking such good care of all the students. The accommodation was lovely, and the staff were all incredibly welcoming. I especially loved the local family that lived next to us. It made me feel like a local myself. I read previous reviews that mentioned the program underwent significant changes, including the food and syllabus. I did my program in January and it’s surprising to see that they have now changed the location and food. However, my experience was not what I expected. The food lacked nutrition and was high in carbs. Despite being assured that they could cater to my gluten-free needs as I have celiac disease, they didn’t seem to understand what “gluten-free” actually meant. As a result, I ended up getting sick frequently. Additionally, there seemed to be a disconnect between the goals of the students and the teachers. Overall, I would not recommend this training for those pursuing a 300hr certification. On a positive note, I enjoyed being able to dedicate time to practicing yoga.

The school had a very disorganised and unprofessional approach to teaching. The level of teaching delivered was extremely poor.

Before the classes began, they didn’t even add up to 200 hours. The tutors were consistently late, which made the students demotivated and caused them to start showing up later, resulting in even shorter classes. To make matters worse, one class was cancelled just because it was raining, even though it was the raining season. This further reduced the hours we had for learning.

The yoga classes were nothing more than normal yoga sessions. We were never really taught how to actually teach yoga, aside from two lessons on sequencing. What was even more concerning was that we were not assessed on our yoga teaching skills or even given the opportunity to practice teaching.

A large number of students missed numerous classes, possibly up to around 40% of them, and yet they still managed to pass and are now considered “qualified yoga teachers.”

There were constant teacher changes throughout the course. The tutors for the Astanga class, the meditation class, the alignment class, and the pranayama class changed multiple times without any warning or explanation, not even to the tutors themselves.

I had to witness two incidents where another student broke down in tears because the tutors had confronted her for complaining to the management about the issues we were facing.

The food provided was absolutely terrible – it was basic, bland, and never enough to satisfy our hunger.

Normally, I wouldn’t bother writing reviews, but I strongly believe that this school not only offers a very disappointing experience for students who invest a lot of money, but it also poses a potential danger as it certifies individuals who are not prepared to teach yoga.

To be honest, there isn’t much that I liked about this school because almost every aspect was a disappointment. However, I must mention that the pool at the accommodation was quite nice, and the manager of the accommodation was very helpful. It seemed like she was embarrassed about the poor quality of food that the yoga school suggested. Most of the other students had better accommodation, but unfortunately, my friend and I were placed in separate rooms with a lot of mold. When I checked out, I noticed some of my clothes had mold on them, but the manager promptly arranged for them to be cleaned.

The school lacked organization and professionalism, which affected the quality of teaching expected from a 200-hour qualification. The tutors changed five times during the course and were inexperienced in teaching teachers. They would often arrive late, leading to students also being late. The school’s management was unprofessional as they did not require an exam on how to teach yoga. The yoga classes only focused on practicing yoga, without teaching students how to deliver a class as a teacher.

Additionally, the food provided by the school was of extremely poor quality. Surprisingly, some students who missed several classes still managed to receive a certificate at the end of the course. The excursions were not located as advertised on the website, and students had to pay for them separately, despite them being included in the package.

It seems that this school prioritizes making money over providing quality education and helping students become skilled teachers. The owner was unhelpful and difficult to approach, as they spent too much time with one particular student. This raises doubts about their credibility as both a yoga teacher and a professional manager running a yoga school.

On a positive note, Ubud is a lovely place to visit. Durgesh, Dewa, Ankit, and Rahul were kind individuals who did their best to address the many issues present in the school.

The Anatomy and Philosophy classes are poorly organized. I can easily find clearer information by googling and watching YouTube videos than what the teacher says. The notes only briefly mention the 5 Kleshas and don’t provide enough information on the 7 chakras.

One of the meditation teachers suddenly left and only sent a message through WhatsApp. We were informed by another teacher, but there was no official notice or a backup plan in case a teacher got sick. They just told us to do self-study. What would happen if the teacher was sick for a few days?

They changed the pranayama teacher in the middle of the course without any communication between the teachers. They didn’t even know what the other teacher had already taught.

I came to Bali to learn how to be a teacher, but we didn’t have enough time for teaching practice. We didn’t come here just to practice yoga, as we can do that in our home country. The school should provide guidance on how to teach yoga instead of focusing solely on practicing it.

The school grouped all the students from the 100 hours, 200 hours, 300 hours, and 500 hours courses together, and we ended up learning almost the same things. They should separate the students based on their yoga level and put them in different classes.

It’s disorganized and what I’ve learned is not sufficient for becoming a teacher. The lead trainer was unable to properly guide the course.

The food options were limited and lacked variety.

Ankit and Rahul are young but passionate about teaching, especially Rahul. He’s willing to spend extra time teaching advanced poses to the students.

The course coordinator, Deva, tried his best to address the issues and take action.

I was really disappointed with the training overall. I had high hopes of gaining practical teaching knowledge, but I ended up learning very little. Some of the teachers seemed inexperienced and lacked training on actual teaching techniques, despite their impressive personal practice. The lack of structure and coordination among the teachers was frustrating. It felt like we didn’t get what was promised in the syllabus. To make matters worse, many participants were beginners, so we had to spend a lot of time on basic things. It felt more like a retreat than a yoga teacher training.
What bothered me even more was that they combined the 100hr, 200hr, and 300hr classes together. The 300 hour program was almost identical to the 200 hour program, and we did almost every class together. If I were in the 300 hour program, I would’ve definitely asked for a refund. The management and scheduling were also a mess.
Overall, the program lacked depth and structure. While I believe the instructors are good-hearted people, I don’t feel like I got my money’s worth at all. Another thing that bothered me was the “included excursions” they advertised. Turns out, they only provided transportation and we still had to pay for everything once we got there. There was very little communication about that.
On a positive note, the accommodation was nice and the food was good and healthy. Despite their young age, the instructors were all kind-hearted and good people. I wish them the best, but unfortunately, I feel like I didn’t get what I paid for.

The Philosophy classes didn’t have enough discussion, and the Anatomy classes lacked practical knowledge. It seemed like the focus of the course was more on self-development than teaching others.

I had some communication issues when I arrived. I had booked private accommodation and confirmed through email, but when I got there, I was told I had to share for a night. I ended up finding another place to stay for that night, but it was an inconvenience.

The management of the program was also quite loose. Classes would often start late because the teacher showed up late, and some classes were even cancelled without a backup plan due to teacher illness or bad weather. When I gave feedback, some teachers took it seriously and made immediate improvements, but others made me feel like I was causing trouble. I didn’t appreciate that.

The food was good for the first week but then became repetitive. Just be prepared for Thursdays and Sundays off and a lot of mosquitoes.

In terms of the teachers, Rahul Ji, our Vinyasa teacher, was fantastic. He had so much energy and enthusiasm for sharing his yoga knowledge. I really loved his classes. Ankit Ji’s alignment classes were also great. He made sure we understood everything and even added some theory to his practical classes. Aylan Ji’s Pranayama classes were well-delivered, and her yoga journey was inspiring. Durgesh Ji’s meditation classes were exceptional and enjoyable.

It was interesting to have different teachers for different aspects of yoga. We had two teachers for Meditation, Alignment, Pranayama, and Ashtanga. It was a valuable experience to learn from different teaching styles.

We stayed at Puri Suksma, which was a beautiful place surrounded by nature. We had visits from monkeys and squirrels, and I saw a variety of ants and butterflies. It felt like I was living in a National Geographic documentary.

I met incredible people from all over the world during this program and learned so much from them. Completing this program has allowed me to make new friends, become more aware of my body, discover new aspects of myself, and become a better yoga practitioner. I’m truly grateful for that.

The food was the same every day. Some classes lacked clarity on who had already taught and at what level people were. So, they started from scratch for everyone, even those who were already experienced teachers with 200 hours under their belt. We practiced a lot, but there was no guidance on how to structure a class or create a flow. When we asked the teacher about it, they seemed surprised that we expected that from a ‘teacher training’ course. Although I gained knowledge about philosophy, etc., during our 4 weeks there, I didn’t get a chance to actually teach a yoga class. I will have to do more research on how to structure a class since it wasn’t covered. The teachers were nice, but the classes lacked any structure at all.

I really hope the school could provide Coffee for our afternoon/before lunch class. It would help us fight off the tiredness from our morning exercises and improve our concentration. I just love how this whole experience takes me back to simplicity – a simpler mindset, simpler expectations, simpler resources, especially in terms of food, and simpler and more relaxing locations.

I am truly grateful for all the hard work and preparation that the teachers have put in. They did an amazing job with the Yoga Asanas taught by Rahul Ji & Ankit Ji, the Types of Breathing taught by Aylan Ji, and the Meditation taught by Durgesh Ji. I spent 7 days at the retreat, and Dewa and his wife were amazing hosts. They would do anything to make your stay enjoyable. The guest house was absolutely charming, and the pool was lovely. The people who looked after the accommodation and us had a few problems because of a lack of communication, but they weren’t major. The teachers were incredibly knowledgeable and gave us everything we needed for the course. The location was absolutely incredible, with a small temple right next door, making us feel secluded from the busy streets of Ubud while still being close enough to meet all our needs. The food surpassed my expectations, although it did become a bit repetitive towards the end. However, it was always fresh and plentiful, and for that, I am grateful.

The accommodation is located in Ubud, but to get to the center or a proper supermarket, you usually need a taxi because the accommodation is a bit isolated. The teachers were super engaged in everything, and the single rooms were spacious and generous, with their own shower and toilet that were cleaned daily by the staff. The food was always served on time and beautifully prepared, mostly vegan and gluten-free 🙂

First of all, I received an email with the address of a new location in Bali at the last moment. When I arrived late at night, it was hard to find the place and I couldn’t find a phone number for the course leaders online. To my surprise, the place I arrived at was completely different from what was shown in the pictures on the retreat ad. The pictures were very misleading and caused distress for me and the whole group. I was shocked because I had traveled a long way and already paid my deposit online. I even considered leaving. The accommodations and the yoga space were unsatisfactory, which really affected my initial impression of the whole training and their staff. It took some time for the bad feelings and vibes to fade away. But, we discussed the issues as a group with the course leader and they were resolved with a change of accommodations and better yoga facilities a few times a week. The food started off great but then declined in presentation and variety. The cleanliness of all areas was also unsatisfactory. It was a shame that we had to deal with such disorganization and unprofessional management at the beginning of our journey to become Yoga Certified Trainers.

Moving on to a positive note, Bali is truly a special place. The people there are warm and always have smiles on their faces. And regarding the YTT, I have to say that the instructors made it all worth it. Their deep knowledge and positive energy helped me stay motivated in a challenging yet rewarding schedule. I especially want to thank Guru Pradeep Ji for his clear and insightful explanations of postures and alignment. His expertise, along with the knowledge and energy of the other teachers, made the course truly valuable. The delicious vegetarian meals were also a highlight. But the best part of this group experience was bonding with people I had just met. The moments and experiences we shared during this short but intense course are unforgettable and absolutely priceless.

We just completed the 200-hour TT with Bali Yoga School, which is associated with the Himalayan Yoga Association in Rishikesh, India. We were looking for a yoga school that could truly teach us authentic knowledge of yoga. And let me tell you, the teaching staff absolutely nailed it. They did an incredible job throughout the course.

Every day, we would start with Shatkarama, the cleansing process, followed by Ashtanga yoga led by the amazing Pradeep ji, who has a deep understanding of yoga anatomy and alignment. His expertise in yoga science was evident in the instructions he gave us during our time at the school. Each week, we would learn three new asanas and gradually progress through the Primary series of Ashtanga Yoga.

The best part of the day was definitely the meditation and philosophy sessions. We had the privilege of learning from the humble Johsan ji, who taught us some in-depth topics in a lighthearted manner so that we could easily grasp the concepts.

Cinthia’s Vinyasa flow classes were also great. She provided valuable insights on sequencing, teaching cues, and most importantly, she encouraged everyone to teach, which made the practical assessment component of the Training a lot more enjoyable.

Our rooms were equipped with hot water, air conditioning, a communal pool, and a study area for the evenings. The food, provided by a caterer organized by the yoga school, was excellent, especially the breakfast. All meals were vegetarian and gluten-free.

Overall, this is a fantastic school! Minal and Hesh,

The teachers at this yoga school are the most positive aspect. They are lovely individuals who are full of energy, passion, and dedication. They know how to motivate the students and possess a wealth of knowledge. Furthermore, they enjoy sharing their knowledge with new yogis and are always available with a smile to provide assistance. They truly inspired me and gave me the strength to continue on my path and stay focused. Each and every one of them shared a piece of their soul with me, creating countless beautiful memories of our time together. I’m grateful to have found a new, wonderful family. Thank you, teachers, you are absolutely amazing!

The food was good, and I never went hungry as a vegan. Sometimes, the choice was limited, but towards the end of the course, they started understanding how they could improve our food options. Hopefully, they will take on board this knowledge, so that future vegan students can benefit. By the way, I’m actually English, not from the States!

I was impressed by how adaptable the teachers were to our requests for altered schedules that suited our needs. Dewa did a fantastic job organizing our Sunday sightseeing trips, making them enjoyable. He really went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable in many ways. Their philosophy was all about giving us an amazing experience.

I also want to mention Cynthia, our Ashtanga flow teacher. She was absolutely awesome. She had a wealth of knowledge, was approachable, and made the classes so much fun!

Food

Food gives life-giving energy to our bodies and is an important element. The quality and types of food we eat affect our physical and mental well-being. In yoga, food is more than just nutrition for the body. To practice yoga properly, we need to nourish our bodies with nutrients and consider the energetic aspect of food. Have you ever noticed how your food intake impacts your yoga practice? Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, teaches us about the effects of different foods on our overall well-being. According to Ayurveda, “Sattva” represents purity in self-control and spiritual well-being, seen through traits like intelligence, goodness, awareness, and happiness. Sattvic foods promote purity in both mind and body. They nourish the mind, making it clear, compassionate, and calm. A sattvic diet sharpens your intellect and is light and easy to digest, according to the Bhagavad-Gita. It fosters positive thoughts and satisfaction of the mind, as it is enriched with purity or prana. Following such a diet can keep you alert, refreshed, and peaceful. During our course, we follow Ayurvedic teachings and provide students with tasty vegan meals three times a day. Our experienced and lovely kitchen team prepares the food hygienically and with love. The meals are buffet-style and include a variety of delicious vegetarian dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I didn’t dislike anything specific, but the other attendees were taken aback by my presence. I was the only one here for a yoga retreat, while everyone else was doing yoga teacher training.
However, I had a great time because I approached it with a positive attitude and a desire to learn. The staff at Bali Yoga School is truly impressive – they were incredibly kind and always ready to assist. I felt incredibly welcomed by everyone.
Even though I’m not a vegan, I absolutely adored the food served at every meal. The fruits were incredibly sweet and the rest of the dishes had unique and delicious flavors, with catchy names.

I didn’t go on a retreat. I spent five days alone, and then joined a group of ten people to complete the 200 hours in one month. They had been practicing yoga every day for two weeks and wanted to become teachers, so their level was different from mine. It wasn’t exactly relaxing because the main goal of the 200-hour program was to learn quickly and earn the degree, rather than simply enjoying the practice of yoga like I had expected. Maybe they should inform people interested in the retreat about the type of group they’ll be joining. However, I must say that the place was amazing, the staff were wonderful, and the rooms were really nice.

The accommodation wasn’t great… and it was expensive for what we got. It was loud and narrow. There wasn’t much space to relax and have privacy. The food was good, but it was always the same. However, the teachers were excellent and the people there were friendly, approachable, kind, and helpful. Despite the downsides, everything else went smoothly overall.

I highly recommend the 300hr Yoga Teacher Training with Himalayan Yoga Ashram. It was absolutely fantastic! The course provided such thorough and detailed information on a variety of topics, from physical yoga practices to anatomy classes and discussions on philosophy, meditation, breathing techniques, Mudra practice, and Ayurveda.

I learned so much during the course, and it really deepened my understanding of these topics from a traditional perspective. What I loved most was the anatomy classes, which gave me a solid foundation on how the body works in a way that was easy to understand. The feedback on our assignments was also really helpful and motivating.

Completing this course not only increased my love and appreciation for yoga, but also boosted my confidence in teaching. It inspired me to continue my learning journey and gave me the tools to teach yoga in a classroom setting. I’m excited to keep practicing and walking the path of yoga!

The N.A. Himalayan Yoga Association offers a comprehensive teaching manual that you can easily access. You can watch the pre-recorded training videos whenever and wherever you want, at a pace that suits you. The daily zoom live classes are great for learning more about different yoga topics, and you can even ask the teachers questions to clarify any doubts. I really hope to visit Rishikesh someday. Thanks a lot for the incredible course, and a special shoutout to Saumya-ji for your guidance.

Thank you so much for this amazing experience, I am incredibly grateful. I participated in the 300hr Online Yogateacher Training in November of this year, and it was truly a fantastic experience for me. The live classes on Yoga Theory were incredibly clear and organized, with the information being right on point. I honestly loved immersing myself in Yoga throughout this entire month. Surprisingly, I was able to connect with the other students in the course and it felt like a close-knit community, which was absolutely wonderful. It was beyond my expectations for an online training. Additionally, I really enjoyed the practical live classes, especially diving into Ashstanga Yoga. The small groups in this online yoga teacher training made it feel personal and not anonymous at all, which allowed me to ask all the questions I had during the live classes. I want to express my deepest gratitude to Bali Yoga School and HYA. Thank you all so much. Namaste.

I felt a lack of protein in the meals since I’m not a vegetarian. It wasn’t enough for the physical effort required, and as a result, I personally lost a lot of weight, which isn’t positive in my case.
The rooms should be cleaned better, especially the areas with insects.
I would have liked to stay longer, but I will definitely come back. ??

The teachers are simply incredible. They made me feel comfortable right away, and despite their young age, they master their work perfectly, both in theory and in practice. Neelam Ji is funny and passionate, Durgesh Ji is calm and soothing, Rahul Ji is very professional and patient, and finally, Ankit Ji, my favorite teacher, is fun and challenging, a breath of fresh air in the classroom. I read some reviews before doing my program in January and I was expecting some changes to the program, especially in terms of the food and syllabus. However, I was greatly disappointed because these changes were not what I had hoped for. The food provided was high in carbs and didn’t seem very nutritious. As someone with celiac disease, I specifically asked if they could accommodate my dietary needs, and they assured me it wouldn’t be a problem. Unfortunately, they seemed to have a limited understanding of what “gluten-free” actually meant, which led to me getting sick quite often.

Moreover, there was a noticeable discrepancy between what the students wanted to achieve and what the teachers aimed for during the training. This disconnect was quite frustrating. Therefore, I don’t recommend this training program for individuals pursuing their 300hr certification. On a positive note, one thing I did enjoy about the program was the opportunity to spend a lot of time doing yoga!

The school was disorganized, unprofessional, and delivered a poor level of teaching.
The classes provided before starting did not add up to 200 hours. The tutors were consistently late, which demotivated students and caused them to start showing up later, resulting in shorter classes. A class was even cancelled because of rain during the rainy season, further reducing the hours.
The yoga classes were just regular yoga classes and we were not properly taught how to teach yoga, except for two sequencing lessons. What’s concerning is that we were not assessed on our yoga teaching or asked to actually teach yoga.
A significant number of students missed numerous classes, possibly up to 40% of them, and still managed to pass and become “qualified yoga teachers.”
There were five teacher changes without warning or explanation, including the Astanga, meditation, alignment, and pranayama classes.
I even had instances where another student broke down in my arms because the tutors confronted her after she had complained to management.
The food provided was terrible – plain and tasteless, and there was never enough.
I rarely write reviews, but I truly believe this school not only offers a subpar experience for students who pay a significant amount of money, but it also poses a potential danger as it qualifies individuals who are not ready to teach yoga.
Honestly, this is a terrible school that appears to be solely driven by making money.
It’s difficult to point out anything positive, as almost every aspect was a disappointment. However, the pool at the accommodation was quite nice, and the accommodation manager was very helpful. It seemed like she was embarrassed about the low-quality food recommended by the yoga school. Most of the other students had decent accommodations, but my friend and I were placed separately and our rooms had a lot of mold. Upon checking out, I discovered that some of my clothes had mold on them, but the manager promptly arranged for them to be cleaned.

The school was so disorganized and unprofessional. The level of teaching was not what you would expect from a 200 hour qualification. Can you believe that we had five different tutors throughout the course? And they were all so young and inexperienced in teaching teachers. It was a mess. They would even show up late, which made us students show up late too. It was just ridiculous. And get this, we didn’t even have an exam on how to teach yoga. Can you imagine? We were just attending yoga classes, not learning how to actually deliver a class as a teacher. It was such a waste of time. And don’t even get me started on the food. It was extremely poor quality. Some students even missed a bunch of classes and still managed to get a certificate at the end. It’s a joke. The excursions were falsely advertised on the website and we had to pay for them when they were supposed to be included in our package. This school is only interested in making money, not in educating or producing good teachers. The owner was completely unhelpful and unapproachable. He spent way too much time with one student in particular, which makes me question his credibility as a yoga teacher or a professional manager. Overall, Ubud is a great place to visit. But Durgesh, Dewa, Ankit, and Rahul, they were the only ones trying to fix all the problems this school has.

Anatomy and Philosophy classes are poorly organized. I can find better information on Google and YouTube which is even clearer than what the teacher says. For example, the notes on the 5 Kleshas can be found exactly on a website, but the teacher only mentions very little about the 7 chakras.

One of the meditation teachers suddenly disappeared and just left a message through WhatsApp. We only found out through another teacher and there was no official notice. There is no contingency plan or backup if a teacher gets sick. They just ask the students to self-study. What will happen if the teacher is sick for a few days?

We changed the pranayama teacher in the middle of the course, and then changed again. There was no communication between these teachers, so they didn’t know what the other teacher had already taught.

I came to Bali to learn how to be a teacher, but we didn’t have much time for teaching practice. We didn’t come here just to practice yoga, as we can do that in our home country. The school should provide guidance on how to teach yoga for students to practice, not just for practicing yoga.

The school grouped all students from the 100 hours, 200 hours, 300 hours, and 500 hours programs together, and we almost learned the same things. They should separate the students into different classes according to their yoga level.

It’s disorganized and what I’ve learned is not enough to become a teacher. The lead trainer was not able to effectively lead the course.

The food was almost the same every day and there was less variety.

Ankit and Rahul are very young but have a passion for teaching. Especially Rahul, he is willing to spend extra time teaching students advanced poses.
The course coordinator, Deva, tried his best to fix the problems and take action.

I found the entire training to be pretty disappointing. I was hoping to learn a lot more practical teaching knowledge, but unfortunately, I feel like I didn’t learn much at all. Some of the teachers seemed inexperienced and while they were great at their own practice, they lacked training on how to effectively teach others. There was little structure or coordination between the teachers in terms of content or theme, so it didn’t align with what the syllabus promised. We also had a lot of participants who had very little experience, so we ended up spending a lot of time on basic things. It felt more like a retreat than an actual yoga teacher training. They combined the 100-hour, 200-hour, and 300-hour classes, which was frustrating because the 300-hour program was almost identical to the 200-hour one. If I had signed up for the 300-hour program, I would have definitely asked for a refund. The management and scheduling were also a mess. Overall, it was not a thorough or well-structured program. Each instructor was a good person with a good heart, and I genuinely wish them the best. However, I can’t help but feel like I didn’t get my money’s worth at all. Also, the “included excursions” were only transportation to the excursion location. You still had to pay for everything once you got there, and there was very little communication about that. On the positive side, the accommodation was nice and the food was good and nutritious. The instructors were all young but kind-hearted people.

The Philosophy classes didn’t have as much discussion as I expected, and the Anatomy classes lacked practical knowledge. The focus of the course seemed to be more on self-development than teaching others.

I had some issues with communication right from the start. I had booked private accommodation and emailed to confirm, but when I arrived, I was told I had to share for a night. Luckily, I found another place to stay for that night and didn’t have to share. But I wasn’t happy about the mix-up.

The program was also poorly organized. Many classes started late because the teacher was late, and some were even cancelled without any backup plans due to teacher illness or bad weather. When I gave feedback, some teachers took it seriously and made improvements, but others made me feel like I was causing trouble. That didn’t sit well with me.

The food was good at first, but then it became repetitive. Just a heads up, Thursdays and Sundays are days off, but there are also a lot of mosquitoes.

I loved Rahul Ji’s Vinyasa classes. He was energetic and passionate about sharing his knowledge of yoga. We also learned a lot about traditional adjustment techniques from him, which were really fun to practice on each other. Ankit Ji’s alignment classes were clear and detailed, and I appreciated how he added a bit of theory to his practical classes. Aylan Ji taught us Pranayama, and her classes were delivered with great care. Her personal journey in yoga was inspiring. Durgesh Ji’s meditation classes were exceptional. They were well-structured, explained thoroughly, and incredibly enjoyable.

It was interesting to have different teachers for Meditation, Alignment, Pranayama, and Ashtanga. It allowed us to experience different teaching styles.

We stayed at Puri Suksma, a place surrounded by nature where monkeys and squirrels would visit us. I even got to see various types of ants and butterflies. It felt like living in a National Geographic documentary.

I met incredible people from all over the world during this program and learned so much from them. I’ve made new friends, become more in tune with my body, discovered new aspects of myself, and have become a much better yoga practitioner. I’m truly grateful for this experience.

The food was the same every day, and we had some classes that seemed pointless. We had no idea who had already taught or what level everyone was at, so we started from the beginning every time. This included people who already teach and have 200 hours of experience.

We practiced a lot, but there was no teaching on how to structure a class or put a flow together. And when we asked the teacher about it, they seemed shocked that we expected that in a ‘teacher training’ course. Even though I learned a lot about philosophy, in the four weeks we were there, I never got a chance to teach a yoga class. Now I’ll have to do more research on how to structure a class since it’s something we weren’t taught. The teachers were nice, but the classes lacked any structure at all.

I really wish the school would provide coffee for afternoon/before lunch class. It would help with the tiredness from the morning exercises and make it easier to concentrate. I just love how this experience brings me back to simplicity. It’s amazing how it clears my mind, lowers my expectations, and helps me appreciate the simple things like food and relaxing places.

I’m so grateful for all the hard work and preparation the teachers have put into this. I learned so much from Rahul Ji and Ankit Ji in Yoga Asanas, Aylan Ji taught us about different types of breathing, and Durgesh Ji guided us through meditation. I feel like I’ve been here forever and I don’t want to leave.

The program should have included more yoga/meditation. Not everything matched what was announced. The day trips lacked variety and flexibility.

Finding the Bali yoga school was a bit challenging – there are actually two locations. One is for teacher training, and the other is Dewa’s place for short retreats. So, make sure you ask for directions. I stayed at the retreat for a whole week, and let me tell you, it was absolutely amazing! Dewa and his wife were the most wonderful hosts you could ever ask for. They would go out of their way to help you with anything. The guest house itself was so charming, and they even had a lovely pool. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention the invigorating massages by Mini! They were absolutely fantastic. And the yoga sessions with Cynthia and Armin? Just perfect! If you’re in need of a break from all the chaos, this place has all the right ingredients to help you unwind.

I think vinyasa classes could use some improvement and better teaching. I really enjoyed Pradeep’s classes and his meditation techniques.

Nothing. I am satisfied with everything. We had a small group, with quality teaching, accommodations reserved exclusively for students, so we formed a family. We had our meals together on-site, for a complete immersion experience.

We experienced some problems because of a lack of communication between the accommodation staff and us, but they weren’t too serious. The teachers were extremely knowledgeable and gave us everything we needed for the course. The location was incredible, with a small temple right next door that made us feel tucked away from the busy streets, yet still close enough to fulfill all our needs in Ubud. The food exceeded my expectations, although it did get a bit repetitive towards the end. Nonetheless, it was always fresh and plentiful, and I’m thankful for that.

The accommodation is located in Ubud, but you usually need a taxi to get to the center or a proper supermarket because the accommodation is somewhat secluded. The teachers were fantastic, always engaged in everything. The single rooms were spacious and generous, with their own shower and toilet, which were cleaned daily by the staff. The food was always served on time and lovingly prepared, mostly vegan and gluten-free 🙂

So, first of all, I received an email with the address of a new location in Bali at the last moment. When I arrived late at night, it was really difficult to find the new place and I couldn’t find a phone number for the course leaders online. To my horrible surprise, the place I arrived at looked nothing like the pictures on the retreats ad. The pictures were so misleading and it caused a lot of stress for not just me, but everyone in the group. I was completely shocked because I had come all this way and already paid my deposit online. I actually thought about just leaving. The accommodations were really terrible and the yoga studio was even worse. This really affected my initial impression of the whole YYT and their staff, making them lose credibility. The bad feelings and negative vibes continued for a while during the training. We all talked about it as a group with the course leader and thankfully, they changed our accommodations and let us use a much nicer yoga studio a few mornings a week. The food started off really good and diverse, but then it started getting worse in terms of presentation and variety. The cleanliness of everything was also really unsatisfactory. It’s such a shame that we had to go through such disorganization and unprofessional management at the beginning of our journey to become Yoga Certified Trainers.

But let me tell you about Bali itself. It’s truly a special place. The people there are so warm and always have a smile on their faces. Now, as for the YTT, the instructors made it all worth it. Their deep knowledge and amazing energy helped me get through each day, even with the strict schedule. I have to give a special shoutout to Guru Pradeep Ji. He has a unique way of explaining postures and alignment that is really clear and in-depth. His expertise, along with the other teachers’ information and positive energy, made the course completely worth the value. Oh, and I can’t forget about the delicious vegetarian meals. They were definitely one of the highlights. And let me tell you, going through this intense course with a group of strangers is really heartwarming. The moments and experiences we shared during this short but intense course with all the amazing people there are truly unforgettable and absolutely priceless.

We just completed our 200-hour TT with Bali Yoga School, which is associated with the Himalayan Yoga Association in Rishikesh, India. We were looking for a yoga school that could give us genuine knowledge of yoga, and the teaching staff did an amazing job of providing that throughout the course.

Every day, we started with Shatkarama (cleansing process) followed by Ashtanga yoga led by the fantastic teacher, Pradeep ji. He has a deep understanding of yoga anatomy and alignment, and it was clear from his instructions that he had extensive knowledge of yoga science. Over the course of four weeks, we learned three new asanas every day and gradually progressed through the Primary series of Ashtanga Yoga.

The favorite part of our day was meditation and philosophy, where we had the opportunity to learn from the humble and knowledgeable Johsan ji. He taught complex topics in a lighthearted manner, making it easy for all of us to understand.

Cinthia’s Vinyasa flow classes were also great. She provided us with valuable information on sequencing, teaching cues, and encouraged everyone to teach, which made the practical assessment component of the Training much more enjoyable.

Our rooms were equipped with hot water, air conditioning, a communal pool, and a study area for the evenings. The food, which was provided by a caterer organized by the yoga school, was overall great. The breakfasts, in particular, stood out, and all the meals were vegetarian and gluten-free.

Overall, it’s a fantastic school! Minal and Hesh

The teachers at this yoga school are the most positive aspect – they’re lovely individuals full of energy, passion, and dedication. They know how to motivate the students, possess vast knowledge, and enjoy sharing and spending time with new yogis. They’re always smiling and available to help with anything. They truly inspired me and gave me the strength to continue on this path and remain focused! Each person shared a piece of their soul, and I have countless wonderful memories from the time spent with fellow students and all the teachers. I’m grateful to have found a new wonderful family. Thank you, teachers – you’re absolutely amazing!

Although I enjoyed the food, being a vegan sometimes limited my choices. However, towards the end of the course, they started understanding how to improve our food options. Hopefully, they will take that knowledge on board for the benefit of future vegan students. By the way, I’m actually English, not from the States! ?

I was really impressed by how adaptable the teachers were to our requests for customized schedules that suited our needs. Dewa did a fantastic job organizing our Sunday sightseeing trips, which were amazing. He went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable in various ways. Their philosophy was to provide us with an incredible experience. I also want to mention Cynthia, our Ashtanga flow teacher. She was awesome – incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and a lot of fun! ?
