Dewi made for a wonderful yoga, meditation, and sound healing facilitator. She was so calm, friendly, and accommodating to my ability levels. I had never tried Breathwork and ice bath before, but they turned out to be new and very healing experiences for me.
Helpful ReviewI think it was pretty pricey, but the super attentive treatment made it worth it. Maybe I’m just used to the budget traveler mindset. The room was gorgeous, but the walls were way too thin. You could hear everything happening next door and downstairs. But I absolutely adored this retreat! It exceeded all my expectations. The yoga sessions were just the right amount of challenging, and the sound healing and breath work played a vital role in the healing process. I was grateful for everything and I’m so happy I had the opportunity to experience this!
Helpful ReviewI have no complaints at all. Everything was absolutely awesome and exceeded my expectations by a mile. The schedule was just perfect, and there were more than enough food options and meals to choose from. They treated me like royalty despite being solo. And let me tell you, the location, surrounded by beautiful and peaceful rice paddies, is simply breathtaking.
Helpful ReviewI am disappointed and sad about this retreat that I had high expectations for. The communication is not good and the program does not match the package and schedule that were initially advertised. This is not my first time in Bali, so I don’t understand why I paid for a retreat that lasted less than a day and a half instead of the advertised 3 days on the website.
Furthermore, there was an issue with the room not matching the photo, and it was located near a noisy construction site with a bad smell and humidity. I had to pay for my own lunch on the first day and all the small drinks throughout the day.
The 7 am classes are supposed to be free for hotel guests, but the last class wasn’t even taught by a retreat instructor. I was also surprised to find out that the breathwork and ice bath took place in my room. Not all yoga classes were held in the Yoga Shama as advertised.
The schedule was too packed for one day and there was almost nothing on the day of arrival and departure. This retreat is not suitable for solo travelers as it takes place in a romantic hotel filled with couples, and all the classes are private. This was not mentioned initially.
Lastly, the retreat is very expensive for only one day of activities. I was disappointed to receive no response after sending a message expressing my dissatisfaction.
I think this retreat could have been great if the provided information was accurate. I loved the class with Dewie, as well as the breathwork and ice bath. I thought those activities were amazing.
The hotel is nice, despite the significant humidity problem and construction nearby. The food was good, and the hotel staff was lovely.
Helpful ReviewThe quality of the venue and facilities is great. The program is very comprehensive and flexible. Lila’s kindness, availability, and excellence are outstanding.
Helpful ReviewThis retreat is not what you’re looking for if you want a proper wellness/spiritual experience. The photos don’t even match the hotel, like the one with the woman doing yoga next to a pool that isn’t even at this place.
Basically, this person just organizes activities at different hotels and sends teachers, but nobody from Shakti was actually there managing everything. It was a complete nightmare. I ended up feeling like the employee stuck in the middle, trying to coordinate between the hotel and the teachers. I had to constantly message the teachers to figure out where and when the activities were happening. Definitely not the relaxing and disconnected experience I was hoping for.
To make matters worse, the hotel didn’t receive clear instructions either, so it was disorganized and lacking in professionalism from Shakti.
When I arrived at the hotel, I had no idea that the retreat wasn’t being directly organized by them. They didn’t even know about the booking or the retreat. The first yoga class didn’t even happen in a proper yoga studio, it was just in a random area of the hotel where people were passing by. Not exactly the peaceful environment I had in mind.
Lila, the owner of Shakti, didn’t show any leadership skills in handling all the problems that came up. She just kept sending the teachers to deal with them instead of taking responsibility. She never even reached out to apologize or offer a solution.
Considering the price, this retreat is definitely overrated. You don’t get what you pay for. However, I lucked out and got moved to a much nicer hotel and room by accident. It was in a beautiful location, with friendly people, and the food was delicious. So basically, everything I liked about my experience was only because of the hotel, not the retreat itself.
Helpful ReviewThe Wakanda hotel is definitely not suitable for a yoga retreat. They placed the yoga room right next to the restaurant bar, so while you’re trying to practice yoga and meditation, you’ll be constantly hearing the noise from the bar and the chatter of customers. Unfortunately, the hotel caters to guests who have no interest in yoga and meditation.
To make matters worse, the food at the restaurant is the most tasteless in Bali. It’s such a disappointment.
Although the room itself was nice and spacious, it had a terrible smell, like an old wet sock mixed with humidity and drain. The spa had the same unpleasant odor as well. And ironically enough, I was given the noisiest room in the hotel, located right in front of the restaurant bar!
However, if you’re solely looking for top-notch yoga classes in a beautiful setting, then this might be the place for you. Lila, the yoga instructor, is an amazing person with a positive energy. As far as yoga instructors go, she might just be the best I’ve ever had.
The breathwork and ice bath session were also fantastic experiences. Plus, the yoga room offers a stunning view amidst lush tropical vegetation.
Lastly, the spa provides excellent massages in a delightful environment.
Helpful ReviewI had an amazing time at Shakti Wellness! The instructors were so friendly and really took the time to get to know each of us and understand how they could support us on our personal journeys. The sessions struck a perfect balance between relaxation and challenging ourselves. I can’t wait to go back again one day!
Helpful ReviewI really loved the location of the place – it was so nice and peaceful. The yoga classes were a perfect fit for my capabilities. I had such a great experience with the breath work class and the purification ceremony.
Helpful ReviewI found the food to be a little disappointing. Overall, I thought it was a bit pricey for the services we received. However, the overall ambience was very serene, and the facilities were all good. The staff was also friendly.
Helpful ReviewThere’s no dedicated yoga space here. This place is more like a hotel that offers services instead of being a proper yoga retreat, so you might have to deal with families and other travelers who are not in a super relaxed mood during your stay. People come and go at different times since they’re trying to accommodate everyone’s schedules. While doing yoga by the pool was nice, most classes are actually held on a cramped balcony that can only be accessed through your private room. Don’t be fooled by the photos in the listing, they’re not very accurate. Also, there’s no fridge in the room. However, the breathe workshop was absolutely amazing! The staff are really friendly and accommodating, and the teachers are just lovely. Plus, the massage and zen walk were both delightful experiences.
Helpful ReviewI loved it! I wasn’t disappointed at all 🙂 Unfortunately, they had to cancel my candlelight meditation, but I didn’t feel like I missed out on anything.
The location was wonderful and peaceful, away from the busy center of Ubud. The hotel is new and up and coming. The staff there were incredibly friendly and helpful. And let me tell you, the food was amazing! It was well balanced and really tasty. The yoga practice and teaching were also top-notch. And to top it all off, I had one of the best massages ever!
One of the most memorable experiences I had was with the Breathwork and Ice Bath. It was fascinating and something I’ll never forget. I really felt a connection with Lila and Vena, and all the other teachers were amazing too ?
If you’re looking to unwind and practice yoga without overwhelming yourself, I highly recommend trying a short time retreat. Lila has a very personal approach, so you’ll get all the attention you need.

October 9, 2023 at 12:00 amI think it was quite expensive, but the super attentive treatment made up for it, so I guess it wasn’t that bad. Maybe I just have a backpacker’s mindset. The room was gorgeous, but the walls were so thin that you could hear everything happening next door and below you… However, I absolutely adored this retreat. It exceeded my expectations entirely. The yoga sessions were just perfect; they pushed you out of your comfort zone without being too difficult. The sound healing and breath work were crucial for the healing aspect of the retreat 🙂 I appreciated everything so much, and I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to experience this!

July 27, 2023 at 12:00 amIf you’re looking for a proper wellness/spiritual retreat, this retreat is not it. Plus, not all the photos on the website match the actual hotel. The image of a woman doing yoga by the pool and the yoga deck don’t even belong to this hotel or retreat.
Basically, this retreat is run by someone who arranges activities at different hotels and sends teachers for the classes, but no one from Shakti, the organizer, was actually at the hotel to manage or organize anything. It was a total nightmare! At times, I felt like I was the one working for them, trying to coordinate between the hotel and the teachers. She never even bothered to contact me and apologize or offer a solution. In terms of quality for the money, it’s definitely overrated. The retreat is priced too high for what you actually get. Luckily, I was accidentally moved to a much better hotel and room, which turned out to be in a beautiful location with friendly people and delicious food.
So, all the things I liked about my stay were related to the hotel, not the retreat itself.

July 20, 2023 at 12:00 amThe Wakanda is definitely not the right place for a yoga retreat. They placed the yoga room right next to the restaurant bar, so while you’re trying to practice yoga and meditate, you’re forced to listen to the loud music and the chatter and laughter of the restaurant’s customers. It’s quite frustrating because the hotel attracts a lot of guests who have no interest in yoga or meditation.
To make matters worse, the food at the restaurant is incredibly tasteless, probably the worst I’ve had in Bali. On the bright side, the room itself is nice and spacious, but it has a terrible smell, like a damp and musty old sock mixed with the scent of drains. Unfortunately, the same foul odor lingers in the spa.
Ironically, I was assigned the noisiest room in the entire hotel, right in front of the restaurant bar. It was quite disappointing. However, if you’re solely focused on finding quality yoga classes in a beautiful setting, then this might be the place for you. Lila, the yoga instructor, is absolutely amazing and one of the best I’ve ever encountered. She has a wonderful energy and genuinely cares about her students.
I also had an incredible experience with the breathwork and ice bath session. The yoga room itself is stunning, surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and offering a beautiful view.
Additionally, I must commend the spa for providing an excellent massage in a delightful atmosphere.

August 18, 2022 at 12:00 amThere is no dedicated yoga space here. This place is more like a hotel that offers services, rather than a yoga retreat. So, while you’re staying here, be ready to encounter families and other travelers who may not be in a very zen headspace. People come and go at different times, since the retreat can accommodate multiple schedules.
