February 19, 2024 at 12:00 amThis yoga retreat was not what I expected. I stayed in a room at a yoga school where I could potentially join some classes from the 300h TTC group. This arrangement made me, the group of students, and the teachers uncomfortable. The 4 people who signed up for the retreat didn’t receive a check-in, any introductions, a set schedule, or designated teachers for our group. Instead, we were expected to participate in classes where others were training to become teachers. As a teacher myself, I was hoping to attend intermediate or advanced classes, or at least sessions tailored for our group within a structured program, as advertised. While the traditional yoga school had a great atmosphere, nice facilities, and a good location, it was a disappointment that the “retreat” was not properly promoted. The school is managed by lovely people and has excellent instructors, but the lack of clear communication about the retreat left much to be desired.

February 15, 2024 at 12:00 amUnfortunately, the retreat wasn’t really a retreat at all. It’s actually a Yoga school and you can attend classes there. I felt lost at times during the classes and I wouldn’t suggest it for beginners. I can’t say anything about the school itself – the students appeared happy and the teachers were good, they just weren’t aware we were coming. I wish there was a separate yoga teacher for the retreat guests so we could fully enjoy the classes without disturbing the regular students. The accommodation was good and the staff at the school were friendly.

December 12, 2023 at 12:00 amI didn’t have any specific dislikes, but the other attendees were surprised to see me because I was the only one doing a yoga retreat while they were all in yoga teacher training. However, I had a great time because I kept a positive attitude and was eager to learn. The staff at Bali Yoga School really impressed me with their politeness and helpfulness. They made me feel incredibly welcomed. Even though I’m not a vegan, I absolutely loved the food served at every meal. The fruits were incredibly sweet and the other dishes had delicious flavors, and some even had catchy names.

November 18, 2023 at 12:00 amI didn’t retreat – I did it alone for 5 days, then joined a group of 10 people who aimed to complete the 200 hours in one month. They had been doing yoga every day for two weeks already, and their goal was to become teachers, so their level was different from mine. It wasn’t exactly relaxing, since the main purpose of the 200-hour program was to quickly acquire the necessary qualifications, rather than simply enjoying the practice of yoga as I had expected. Maybe people who are interested in doing a retreat should be informed about the type of group they’ll be joining. Anyway, I have to say the place is really amazing with incredible staff and beautiful rooms.

May 15, 2023 at 12:00 amThe accommodation wasn’t great, and it was overpriced for what we got. It was noisy and cramped, with limited space to relax and have some privacy. However, the food was good, although it became repetitive. The teachers were fantastic, and everyone there was friendly, approachable, and willing to assist. Despite some issues, overall, everything went smoothly.

February 14, 2023 at 12:00 amThe instructors were really nice and had a positive approach. I learned a lot in just two weeks. The classes had a nice flow and we had longer breaks to rest and relax between lunch and the next class. I highly recommend this place and the people who work there. Everyone was friendly and helpful. It’s such a peaceful and relaxing place. I’ll definitely come back for another class when I’m in Bali. Thank you for such a great experience.

July 16, 2022 at 12:00 amSometimes, I would get hungry after I finished my meal portion. But no worries, I would just prepare some instant food instead. 🙂 I really love this school. I would rate it 9.5 out of 10 overall!
Here are some reasons why:
First, the accommodation is really nice. It’s clean and cozy, and they even have a swimming pool surrounded by trees! Can you believe that?
Second, the people here are so friendly. Everyone is always ready to lend a helping hand or strike up a conversation.
Third, the air here is so fresh. It feels so good to take a deep breath and enjoy the clean and crisp air.
Fourth, the teachers are super cool. They are supportive and always ready to help. You never feel alone or lost in your studies.
And finally, the best part is that you can do yoga all day long! How amazing is that? It’s a great way to relax and stay fit.
So yeah, overall, this school rocks!

May 16, 2022 at 12:00 amI highly recommend the 300hr Yoga Teacher training with Himalayan Yoga Ashram. The course provided comprehensive and in-depth information on various topics, such as daily physical yoga practices, technical anatomy classes, yoga philosophy, meditation, breathing techniques, Mudra practice, and Ayurveda.
I was impressed by how the course deepened my knowledge from a traditional perspective, rather than just mainstream yoga. The anatomy classes were particularly helpful in giving me a solid understanding of how the body works. The feedback on assignments was constructive and encouraging, allowing me to reflect on my progress.
Completing the course not only increased my love and appreciation for yoga, but also gave me the confidence to teach in a classroom. It inspired me to continue learning, practicing, and following the path of yoga.

May 2, 2022 at 12:00 amN.A. Himalayan Yoga Association offers a thorough and comprehensive teaching manual. You can watch the pre-recorded training videos whenever and wherever you want, at your own speed. The daily zoom live classes help us understand different yoga topics, and we can ask the teachers to clarify any other questions we may have. I really hope to visit Rishikesh one day. Thank you for the amazing course. A big shoutout to Saumya-ji!

December 23, 2021 at 12:00 amThank you so much, I am incredibly grateful for this experience. I participated in the 300-hour Online Yogateacher Training in November this year, and it was truly amazing. The Yoga Theorie live classes were incredibly clear and organized, and the information provided was spot on. I really enjoyed immersing myself in Yoga for a whole month.
Surprisingly, I was able to connect with the other students in the course, and it felt like a small community despite it being an online training. It was a pleasant surprise. I also loved the practical live classes and I am thrilled to have delved into Ashstanga Yoga. The small group size made the online yoga teacher training feel more personal and less anonymous, and I felt comfortable asking any questions that came up during the live classes.
Thank you again to Bali Yoga School and HYA, I appreciate everything. Namaste.

November 29, 2021 at 12:00 amHonestly, I liked everything. The food was nice and as a vegetarian, I didn’t feel like I needed anything else (maybe just some espresso ?). The place was so peaceful and I loved it. The teachers were amazing. I learned a lot from Shanti ji, Ida ji, and Niki ji. I’m so grateful to have met these beautiful souls in my life. Dewa ji made me feel at home. I’m 100% happy with my experience and all of my memories with Bali Yoga School will stay in my heart forever. I wish I could stay longer. Best of luck to all of you. March 31, 2020 at 12:00 amThe tropical weather can make mosquitoes quite annoying, so don’t forget to bring mosquito spray. This school is absolutely beautiful and conveniently located. The staff are all helpful and friendly, and the teachers are incredibly professional. You’ll love the yummy Balinese vegetarian meals that come in different varieties every day. I had a great time studying here and will definitely recommend it to my friends.

March 30, 2020 at 12:00 amI felt a lack of protein in the meals since I’m not a vegetarian. It wasn’t enough for the physical effort required, and as a result, I personally lost a lot of weight, which is not positive in my case.
They should clean the rooms better, especially the areas with insects.
I would have liked to stay longer, but I will definitely come back. ??
The place is beautiful, the schedule is perfect, and the food is really good.
The teachers are amazing, they made me feel comfortable right away, and despite their young age, they have a perfect mastery of their work, both in theory and in practice. Neelam is funny and passionate. Durgesh is calm and soothing. Rahul is very professional and patient, and lastly, Ankit is my favorite teacher, he’s fun and challenging, a breath of fresh air in class. Thank you to all of the four of you for your kindness, patience, and the passion you put into your work. I won’t hesitate to have another experience with the same teachers. ❤️?

March 6, 2020 at 12:00 amThe mosquitoes over there have evolved. So, better bring long yoga pants for class because spray won’t help much ? I absolutely love the alignment, Vinyasa, and Ashtanga classes. Ankit ji and Rahul ji are both such professional and knowledgeable instructors. I’ve learned more than I expected. I am especially grateful to Durgesh ji and Dewa ji for taking such good care of all the students. The accommodation was lovely and the staff were incredibly welcoming, including the local family who lived next to us. I felt like a local while traveling. It was also my first time switching to a vegetarian diet, but the food was so delicious and there were plenty of options. It really helped me lower my fat and build muscle. February 25, 2020 at 12:00 amI noticed a dramatic change in the program when I did it in January. Based on the reviews I read previously, the program incorporated different food and syllabus. However, I was quite disappointed because nothing turned out as I expected. The food options were high in carbs and lacked the nutrition I needed. Despite being assured that they could accommodate my gluten-free diet, they didn’t really understand what it meant, resulting in frequent bouts of sickness for me. Moreover, I felt there was a disconnect between the goals of the students and the teachers. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend this training program for those pursuing a 300-hour certification. On a positive note, I did appreciate the opportunity to spend time practicing yoga.

February 25, 2020 at 12:00 amThe school was incredibly disorganized and unprofessional, which really affected the quality of teaching for a 200-hour qualification. Throughout the course, the tutors changed a whopping five times and they were all very young and inexperienced in teaching teachers. On top of that, the tutors would often show up late, causing the students to also be late. It was a complete mess and the management of the school was totally unprofessional.
What’s even more frustrating is that there was no exam specifically focused on teaching yoga. The classes were purely about doing yoga, without any emphasis on how to actually teach a class. It’s just not what you would expect from a reputable yoga school.
The food they provided was absolutely terrible, to put it lightly. It was such a disappointment, especially considering how important good nutrition is when practicing yoga. It’s really a shame that they couldn’t even get that right.
To make matters worse, some students missed quite a few classes and still managed to get a certificate at the end of the course. It just doesn’t make any sense and it devalues the certification for those who actually put in the effort.
The excursions promised on the website were also a big letdown. They weren’t where they were advertised and you were still expected to pay for them, even though they were supposed to be included in your package. It’s just a clear case of false advertising, and it’s really disappointing.
This school seems to be all about making money and not about actually educating or helping students become good yoga teachers. The owner is unhelpful and unapproachable, seemingly favoring one student over others. It really makes you question his credibility as a yoga teacher and as a professional manager running a yoga school.
On the bright side, Ubud is a really lovely place to visit. Despite all the issues with the school, Durgesh, Dewa, Ankit, and Rahul were amazing people who tried their best to fix the numerous problems the school had. They were really the only redeeming aspect of the whole experience.

February 25, 2020 at 12:00 amThe school provided a very disorganized and unprofessional experience, with a very poor level of teaching.
The classes we received before starting did not add up to 200 hours. The tutors were consistently late, which demotivated us and caused us to start showing up later, resulting in even shorter classes. On top of that, one class was cancelled because it was raining (during the rainy season!), further reducing the hours of instruction.
The yoga classes were just regular yoga classes, without much focus on teaching us how to actually teach yoga. We only had two sequencing lessons, which was concerning. Most concerning of all, we were never assessed on our yoga teaching abilities or even asked to teach yoga.
It’s shocking to see that some students who missed numerous classes still managed to pass and become “qualified yoga teachers.”
There were a total of five teacher changes. The Astanga class, meditation class, alignment class, and pranayama class all had different tutors at one point, and then they changed back without any warning or explanation to the tutors.
I had two instances where another student sobbed in my arms because the tutors had confronted her for complaining to the management.
The food provided was terrible – basic, bland, and never enough.
I don’t usually write reviews, but I believe this school not only provides a poor experience for students who pay a lot of money, but also poses a potential danger by certifying individuals who are not ready to teach yoga.
Honestly, I think this is a terrible school that was only created to make money. It’s hard to find anything positive about it, as almost every aspect was a disappointment. The only highlights were the nice pool at the accommodation and the helpfulness of the accommodation manager. She seemed embarrassed by the low quality of food suggested by the yoga school. Most of the other students had decent accommodations, but my friend and I were placed separately and our rooms were filled with mold. Upon checking out, I discovered some of my clothes had mold on them, but the manager was kind enough to get them cleaned promptly.

February 23, 2020 at 12:00 amThe Anatomy and Philosophy classes are not organized well. I can easily find clearer information on Google and YouTube than what the teacher says. The notes mention very little about the 5 Kleshas, but I found the exact information on a website. They only briefly mentioned the 7 chakras.
One of the meditation teachers suddenly left and sent a message through WhatsApp. We only heard from another teacher without any official notice. There is no backup plan if a teacher gets sick. They just expect us to self-study. What will happen if the teacher is sick for a few days?
They changed the pranayama teacher halfway through the course, and then changed again. There was no communication between these teachers, and they didn’t know what the other teacher had already taught.
I came to Bali to learn how to be a teacher, but we didn’t get much time for teaching practice. We didn’t come here just to practice yoga, as we can do that in our home country. The school should provide guidance on how to teach yoga so that students can practice teaching, not just practicing yoga.
The school grouped students from the 100 hours, 200 hours, 300 hours, and 500 hours programs together, and we all learned almost the same things. They should separate us into different classes based on our yoga level.
It’s disorganized, and what I learned is not enough to become a teacher. The lead trainer was unable to lead the course effectively.
The food options were limited and lacked variety.
Ankit and Rahul, despite being young, have a passion for teaching. Especially Rahul, he’s willing to spend extra time teaching advanced poses to students.
The course coordinator, Deva, did his best to address and resolve the problems.

February 17, 2020 at 12:00 amI was really disappointed with the training. I expected to learn a lot more practical teaching knowledge, but it felt like I didn’t learn much. Some of the teachers seemed inexperienced and didn’t know how to teach others effectively, despite having great personal practice. There was no structure or coordination between the teachers, and it didn’t match what the syllabus promised. Many participants were also beginners, so we wasted a lot of time on basic things. It felt more like a retreat than a yoga teacher training. They even combined different levels of classes together (100hr, 200hr, and 300hr), and the 300hr program was pretty much the same as the 200hr. It was a mess in terms of management and scheduling. Overall, the program lacked depth and structure. I think the instructors are all good people with good intentions, but I didn’t get my money’s worth at all. The “included excursions” only covered transportation, and we had to pay for everything else once we got there. They didn’t communicate that very well. The accommodation was nice and the food was good and healthy. The instructors were all young but kind-hearted.

January 30, 2020 at 12:00 amThe Philosophy classes didn’t have as much discussion as I expected, and the Anatomy classes lacked practical knowledge. The focus of the course seemed to be more on self-development than teaching others.
I had some issues with communication right from the beginning. I had booked private accommodation and confirmed it via email, but when I arrived, they told me I had to share for a night. I ended up finding another place for that night and didn’t have to share, but it was a hassle that I didn’t appreciate.
The program was also poorly managed. Classes often started late because the teacher was late, and some classes were even cancelled without a backup plan due to teacher illness or bad weather. When I gave feedback, some teachers took it seriously and made improvements, but others made me feel like a troublemaker, which I didn’t appreciate.
The food was good for the first week but then became repetitive. Expect to have Thursday afternoons and Sundays off, but also a lot of mosquitoes.
One of the highlights of the program was Rahul Ji, our Vinyasa teacher. He was full of energy and passionate about sharing his knowledge. I really loved his classes. Ankit Ji’s alignment classes were also great – very clear and detailed. He always made sure we understood everything and even added some theory to his practical classes. Aylan Ji taught us Pranayama and her classes were nicely delivered. Her journey in yoga was inspiring. Durgesh Ji’s meditation classes were exceptional – well-structured, explained, and enjoyable.
We had different teachers for Meditation, Alignment, Pranayama, and Ashtanga, which was a good experience to learn different teaching styles.
We stayed in Puri Suksma, which was a beautiful place surrounded by nature. We had some interesting encounters with monkeys, squirrels, ants, and butterflies – felt like being in a National Geographic documentary.
I met incredible people from all over the world and learned so much from them. Completing this program helped me make new friends, become more aware of my body, discover new aspects of myself, and become a better yoga practitioner. I’m really grateful for that.

January 30, 2020 at 12:00 amThe food was the same every day. Some classes lacked clarity on who taught and what level people were at. So, they would start from the beginning for everyone, even those who already had 200 hours of teaching experience.
We did a lot of practice, but we didn’t learn how to structure a class or put a flow together. When the class asked the teacher about it, they seemed surprised that we were on a ‘teacher training’ course. Although I gained knowledge about philosophy, in the 4 weeks we were there, I didn’t get a chance to teach a yoga class. I will have to do more research on how to structure a class since we weren’t taught that. The teachers were great, but there was no structure to the classes at all.

It would help us fight off the tiredness from our morning exercises and improve our concentration. I love how this experience brings me back to simplicity – simplicity of the mind, expectations, resources, food, and even relaxing locations.
I truly appreciate all the hard work and preparation the teachers have put into this. I had such a great learning experience in Yoga Asanas with Rahul Ji & Ankit Ji, Types of Breathing with Aylan Ji, and Meditation with Durgesh Ji. It felt like I had been there for a long time and I didn’t want to leave.

May 16, 2019 at 12:00 amSo, first of all, they emailed me the address of a new location in Bali at the last minute. When I got there late at night, it was really hard to find the place and I couldn’t find a phone number for the course leaders online. To my terrible surprise, the place I ended up at was nothing like the pictures on the retreat ad. The pictures were so misleading and it was really distressing, not just for me but for the whole group. I was shocked because I traveled a long way and already paid my deposit online. I was seriously thinking about leaving. The accommodations were awful and the yoga shala was no better. It really messed up my whole impression of the YYT and their staff, and it took a while to shake off the bad vibes. We talked about the issues as a group with the course leader and they fixed them by moving us to a different place and arranging for us to practice at a much nicer yoga shala a few mornings a week. The food started off great, but then it started to get worse in terms of presentation and variety. And everything was just not clean enough. It was such a shame that our beautiful journey to becoming Yoga Certified Trainers had such a chaotic and unprofessional start.
Now, let’s talk about Bali itself. It’s really a special place. The people are so warm and always smiling. As for the YTT, I have to say the instructors made it all worth it. Their deep knowledge and positive energy helped me get through the tough but rewarding schedule. A special shoutout to Guru Pradeep Ji – he explains postures and alignment in such a clear and detailed way. His expertise, along with the other teachers’ input, really made the course worth its value. And can we talk about the delicious vegetarian meals? They were one of the best things about the experience. And as a group, it was amazing to bond with people you just met. The moments and experiences we shared during the short but intense course are truly unforgettable and priceless.

May 11, 2019 at 12:00 amWe just completed a 200-hour TT (Teacher Training) with Bali Yoga School, associated with Himalayan Yoga Association in Rishkesh, India. We were looking for a yoga school that could teach us authentic knowledge of yoga, and the teaching staff did an incredible job throughout the course.
Every day, we started with a cleansing process called Shatkarama, followed by Ashtanga yoga led by Pradeep ji. He is a fantastic teacher with a deep understanding of yoga anatomy and alignment. His expertise in yoga science was evident in the instructions we received. Over the course of four weeks, we learned three new asanas each day and gradually progressed through the Primary series of Ashtanga Yoga.
Our favorite part of the day was meditation and philosophy sessions with Johsan ji. He is a humble teacher who explained complex topics in an easily understandable way. It was a great opportunity to learn from him.
Cinthia led the Vinyasa flow classes, providing valuable information on sequencing, teaching cues, and encouraging us to practice teaching ourselves. This made the practical assessment component of the training more enjoyable.
Our rooms were comfortable with amenities like hot water, air conditioning, a communal pool, and a study area for night-time studying. The food, provided by a caterer organized by the yoga school, was excellent, especially the vegetarian and gluten-free breakfast.
Overall, the school was great! Minal and Hesh had a wonderful experience.

May 1, 2019 at 12:00 amThe teachers at this yoga school are the most positive aspect. They are lovely individuals filled with energy, passion, and dedication. They know how to motivate their students, possess ample knowledge, and genuinely enjoy sharing and spending time with new yogis. They are always smiling, available for any kind of help, and have truly inspired me to continue on this path and stay focused. Each one of them has given me a piece of their soul, and I have created numerous beautiful memories with fellow students and all the teachers. I am grateful to have found a new, wonderful family. Thank you, teachers. You are absolutely incredible!

April 20, 2019 at 12:00 amAlthough the food was good, I never went hungry. As a vegan, sometimes the choice was limited. But towards the end of the course, they started to understand how they could improve our food choices. Hopefully, they will take that knowledge on board so future vegan students can benefit. I’m actually English, not from the States.
The teachers were impressively adaptable to our requests for schedule changes to suit our needs. Dewa organized fantastic Sunday sightseeing trips for us. He put so much effort into making our stay memorable in numerous ways. Their philosophy was to ensure we had an amazing experience. And I can’t forget to mention Cynthia, our Ashtanga flow teacher. She was truly awesome – incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and so much fun. ?
