March 3, 2024 at 12:00 amSerenity is a fantastic place to stay! It is well-located and serves super healthy and delicious food. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, always making sure you feel at home. Whenever I got sick, they took great care of me and helped me get better quickly. Plus, the variety of yoga classes they offer is amazing, and every class I attended was great. I had a wonderful time and would definitely return. I highly recommend it!

February 17, 2024 at 12:00 amAt first, I was in a single bedroom with a fan and it was way too hot. My “window” overlooked the shared bathroom inside, so there was no way to get some fresh air.
Helpful ReviewAfter enduring 9 long hot nights, a room with air conditioning became available and I was able to switch. There were construction works right behind the wall of my room, all day long, until the end of my month there. I couldn’t enjoy my room (and the AC) during the day… the noise of the machines was unbearable. I had to shower with earplugs. And the workers kept coming and going through my small terrace, with one chair being blocked off to hang a sign “Thank you for your understanding of the inconvenience caused by the works”.
Other things bothered me like the springs in the mattress, the low water pressure in the shower, the hot water lasting only 3 minutes, the towels in poor condition and not smelling fresh at all, the flooding in my room every morning after a night of rain… Instead of fixing the issue, they asked me via email to put all my belongings higher up. If I could do it over, I would only get the yoga pass and stay somewhere else.
PS: I was in the Yang room. The pool is small but very peaceful and surrounded by greenery.
The yoga classes were really good. It’s great to have a month pass and decide day by day which classes to take.
The staff is extremely kind and helpful. From reception, to the restaurant, security, gardeners, housekeeping… thank you to them for everything!
Very close to the beach, on a rather quiet street. Very pleasant.

February 5, 2024 at 12:00 amHonestly, absolutely nothing beats Serenity. It’s truly a magical place. The atmosphere there is peaceful, gentle, and bright. From the employees to the residents, everyone exudes genuine kindness.
I had the most perfect week there, with yoga classes that were both interesting, spiritual, and challenging. The teachers really cared about everyone’s well-being, creating a real connection and interaction. There were plenty of classes to choose from, catering to everyone’s needs.
Breakfast was different and delicious every morning, with fresh and high-quality products. I also dined at the Guest House, and the food was truly top-notch.
The garden is a paradise, despite being close to the lively hustle and bustle of Canggu. It feels like a jungle oasis, lush with trees and flowers, and home to local wildlife like squirrels, birds, and tiny geckos.
The spa and services offered are top-notch, with attentive staff who are incredibly kind. Plus, the Guest House is perfectly located; just steps away from the beach and breathtaking sunsets, and close to all necessary shops and services.
I felt right at home at Serenity. I’ll definitely be back – that’s for sure. Thanks a million to everyone for this unforgettable stay.

January 23, 2024 at 12:00 amI didn’t dislike anything, I liked everything there! They have the best yoga classes in the world. My favorite was Hatha classes (also yin, power yoga, and sunset flow) with teacher Qino! Qino always gave clear instructions, made appropriate adjustments, and offered different options for all levels. The yoga shalas and rooms are very clean. The food in the cafe is very tasty and fresh. Everyone who works there is very friendly. You’ll never feel bored, as there’s always a funny and friendly atmosphere! I will definitely return there again! I will miss you all!

January 19, 2024 at 12:00 amI didn’t like that they allowed people to join the class after it had started. It was disturbing when latecomers tried to squeeze in between mats, which I found disrespectful to the yoga instructors and everyone in the class. Most places I’ve been to don’t allow it. However, I really enjoyed being there. The yoga instructors, like Diaz, Qino, and Yogi, were amazing. They had great energy and were friendly and fun. The yoga sessions with them were challenging yet enjoyable. The staff was also very friendly, and I thought the place was beautiful with lots of plants around the pool.

October 13, 2023 at 12:00 amThe noise coming from the nearby bars didn’t really bother us at all in the end! The warmth, simplicity, and kindness that this place exudes. It’s a haven of peace for me. I preferred the dorms for more social interactions. The vegan meals, permaculture, staff, and property made me walk around barefoot all the time. The proximity to the beach and shops.
The yoga teachers are very professional and knowledgeable, especially Kemie with whom I took several inversion classes. They are all insightful. The yoga studios. The SPA, massage, and wellness area. The pool, fruit trees, and medicinal plants.
Thanks to the whole team. See you soon!

October 4, 2023 at 12:00 amI wasn’t a big fan of Canggu, but that’s not the fault of the center. If you value privacy, make sure you book a room with a private bathroom. The option for single rooms without a bathroom is cheaper, but they are incredibly small and made me feel claustrophobic. The entire staff is incredibly friendly and they make a real effort to prioritize sustainability, supporting local businesses, and using organic food. The restaurant and yoga classes are fantastic. The dorms are spacious and perfect if you enjoy this type of travel. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and great for surfers since the spot is so close.

August 27, 2023 at 12:00 amSome places, such as the bathrooms and yogi dorm, might need a thorough floor cleaning and some handy-fixing, like the showers. The staff at Serenity is absolutely amazing – always sporting a smile, giving a warm welcome, and happy to assist in any way possible. The yoga classes there are fantastic, with highly skilled teachers leading the way. And let’s not forget the delicious food served at Alkaline, their restaurant. The must-try cake is definitely their mouthwatering chocolate cake. The overall atmosphere is just fantastic, and it’s not uncommon for guests who initially planned to stay for only a few days to end up extending their stay or returning again because they simply love it so much. June 14, 2023 at 12:00 amThe noise around the premises is the only downside, but it’s not really their fault, so I still have to mention it. There’s a lot of construction going on, so some of the classes can get pretty noisy. And if you’re a light sleeper, the roosters outside of Seabreeze might be a problem. April 27, 2023 at 12:00 amWe had the pleasure of staying in Serenity for a month and we absolutely loved it. The yoga classes were incredible, with a diverse range of practices and amazing teachers. The pool area was a perfect spot to relax, and the resort staff were incredibly nice and attentive to our needs.
Unfortunately, the only downside to Serenity was the lack of comfort in some of the private rooms. We tried four different rooms and all of the mattresses were uncomfortable, leading to back pain and restless nights. We strongly advise against booking the Tarzan room, as it lacks air conditioning and privacy, and has issues with smoke from nearby fires. Although the staff did address the smoking issue after we mentioned it, the neighborhood sometimes has problems with burning garbage and rice fields, so be cautious.
On a positive note, the Alkaline restaurant at the resort offers good food at reasonable prices, with a focus on healthy options. The breakfast buffet was decent, but if you’re willing to spend a little extra, you can find better food options nearby.
Overall, our experience at Serenity was wonderful and we would definitely consider returning in the future.

The bed is comfortable and covered with curtains and a mosquito net. Even though it’s half outside, the room is pretty dark! They also tidy up your bed every morning. The breakfast buffet is amazing! So many different vegan options to try, from homemade bread and peanut butter/jam to fruits, and a different special every time (like pumpkin, chickpea soup), and coffee, tea, milk, and juice! The homemade peanut butter and jam are so good!!! The restaurant attached also has delicious vegan options at a great price.

March 3, 2023 at 12:00 amOther teachers are good too, but they don’t adjust their students. So, I decided to attend Kemi’s class to learn inversion. However, she isn’t really teaching it step by step. Instead, she simply said, “If you don’t try, you won’t be able to do it.” But, I don’t feel comfortable doing inversions without someone assisting me, as I might end up hurting myself. January 19, 2023 at 12:00 amMake sure to research Canggu before going there (I wish I did). It’s not what I expected, with lots of westerners and party-goers. The majority of businesses are owned by foreigners. But if you’re into partying and want to see surfers, Canggu is the place to be.
The room was small, with only one bed, no desk, and one dresser. There were two windows – one facing the bathroom/shower area and the other facing the side alley where people smoked (even though it’s a no-smoking resort). It was inconvenient because I could hear people coming and going from the bathroom and sometimes smell cigarettes in my room.
The WiFi didn’t reach my room, so I couldn’t make video calls and streaming online was impossible. Other rooms didn’t seem to have this issue, though.
It wasn’t ideal for a 30-day yoga retreat.
After a few nights, I asked if I could change rooms or pay more for an upgrade. Unfortunately, they said they were fully booked and couldn’t do room swaps.
I ended up cancelling my stay after the first week and leaving Canggu. However, the yoga classes were amazing. The teachers were talented, knowledgeable, and communicated well. I highly recommend them.
The staff at the center were lovely and brought a positive vibe to the environment. Thank you!
The pool area was beautiful, although there weren’t many places to sunbathe. The pool itself wasn’t crowded, with most people just relaxing around it.
The spa center next to the pool was great. I had a Balinese massage and it was fantastic. The prices were good considering the skill level and location.
Overall, I would definitely do yoga at this facility again. Unfortunately, my accommodation experience wasn’t the best.

March 30, 2020 at 12:00 amIt was my first time in Bali and overall, I was mostly disappointed by the city of Canggu. It’s very touristy and has a superficial “Instagram” vibe. Basically, everything is catered towards tourists, so if you’re looking for authenticity, I would not recommend this city. Pollution is also very prevalent, which can make the sea dirty on rainy days.
As for Serenity, the dorm I stayed in was clean (cleaned daily) and decent, although there were insects and crabs, which was a bit unpleasant but nothing major. Once we mentioned it to the staff, they did everything they could to fix the issue.
The big downside for me was the health aspect. From January to March 2020, many people fell ill, including myself. We thought that a bacteria (possibly in the water) was causing the fever, diarrhea, and vomiting we experienced. However, we don’t know for sure, but it was difficult for many other tourists staying at Serenity.
However, I don’t blame the Serenity staff, as they must have been bothered by this problem as well. For my first solo trip, I decided to go to a center that offered yoga classes so that I wouldn’t be alone in a new country and could deepen my practice. I’m not disappointed that I chose Serenity! The place itself is stunning with a beautiful pool, the staff is always smiling and attentive, the teachers are excellent, and the vegan food is pretty good. The people I met there were all in a positive and open-minded mood, which made it easy to make connections and have unforgettable moments. A big thank you for the three Balinese massages included with the one-month package.
I highly recommend Serenity, and I would even go back just for the kindness of the teachers and staff, despite Canggu not being my favorite city.

The pool area creates a peaceful atmosphere, and the yoga classes are quite good. Most of the instructors focus on a more modern style of yoga, which emphasizes movement. However, some of them incorporate more traditional practices into their movement-based classes. There’s definitely something for everyone here!
The location is really convenient, as it’s close to an amazing surf spot and within walking distance of some great restaurants. I would highly recommend it!

March 15, 2020 at 12:00 amWe couldn’t find a key to use in the dorm room. The bathrooms weren’t clean. The beds were extremely hard. If you sleep on the bottom bunk, expect centipedes to crawl on you at night. It’s super damp here, so you never feel clean or dry unless you leave the dorm. Unfortunately, the food made people sick, so I didn’t even bother with breakfast and ate somewhere else. I guess this was just my bad luck with the dorm room. Everyone else seemed fine with their accommodations. But, the yoga classes were a blast! The teachers are really fun and helpful, especially if you’re new to yoga. The pool is actually quite nice. The location is great because it’s only a 10-minute walk to the main area. It’s tucked away, so it’s peaceful and quiet. The staff is absolutely lovely and accommodating. When we had no hot water, they fixed it immediately after I mentioned it. It’s a fantastic place to meet both people and the staff, and there’s always security around 24/7.

March 14, 2020 at 12:00 amI left the guesthouse slightly disheartened because someone stole my treasured bracelet, as well as my towel and bikini that were drying on a rack. The staff did their best to assist by taking down my name and room number, which I appreciate. However, I still can’t shake off the feeling of being upset. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and offered a 2-minute shuttle ride from S1 to S2 instead of a 10-minute walk in the dark. The food was absolutely amazing and reasonably priced. The pool was perfect and I enjoyed every yoga class, even though I ended up with soreness all over my body afterwards! I want to express my gratitude to Serenity for providing me with a fantastic holiday experience.

March 10, 2020 at 12:00 amIn Serenity 2, the roosters were very loud (louder than expected) and the bathroom sometimes smelled. Construction was taking place in front of the main building, which was also noisy. The dorms here in Serenity 1, in my opinion, were not as nicely decorated as in Serenity 2. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. The food was good, the yoga classes were mostly excellent, and the location was great. Additionally, the pool was very nice and I felt comfortable. In Serenity 2, there is no air conditioning, but there is a personal fan for each bed. Mosquito nets are also attached to all beds in both buildings – a very positive aspect.

March 8, 2020 at 12:00 amThe accommodations in Serenity 2 are far from block 1 and not as well-maintained as the accommodations in Serenity 1. Our air conditioning broke down and it took 5 days for it to be repaired, making the temperature unbearable.
Also, I made my reservation on bookyogaretreat which advertised 30 unlimited yoga classes, but I still had to pay for the classes. That is not fair considering the price I paid.

February 17, 2020 at 12:00 amThe restaurant at Piscine is a place to avoid! The banana bread tasted like playdough, and if you don’t want to get sick for four days like me and many others at the hotel (we all got sick at the same time, oddly enough), then steer clear of the restaurant and eat outside for much better food and cheaper prices.
Helpful ReviewThe breakfast was flavorless. We knew it was vegan, but everything lacked taste. When they ran out of pineapple jam and we asked for more because we didn’t like papaya, they said it wasn’t possible because they had to finish the papaya.
We didn’t eat lunch or dinner at the restaurant, so when we asked for two spoons, they couldn’t lend us any. We paid 120 euros for the room and yoga for the week, but unlimited yoga for a week only costs 60 euros, and we felt like the room (or rather, the bed in a dorm) was not worth 10 euros a night.
The staff wasn’t very welcoming, and there weren’t really any nice places to relax if you didn’t consume at the restaurant. It’s a shame because we were excited to try the yoga experience in Canggu.
The aerial yoga class was great, and we liked how close the location was to everything. The cleanliness of the room and common areas was also satisfactory.

February 12, 2020 at 12:00 amThe breakfasts here are so boring and unimaginative! They serve the same thing every single day and the quality is just awful. Plus, they seriously need to work on their hygiene standards. Who thought it was a good idea to have stinky dogs in the restaurant? It’s just not right!
On a positive note, the yoga teaching and facilities are fantastic. The accommodation is decent for the price, and the food is alright, although the breakfasts got worse over time. But here’s the kicker – so many people at the resort got sick, and they all blamed it on the food! They claim it’s some sort of bacterial infection. Can you believe that?

February 3, 2020 at 12:00 amThe rooms aren’t the best, but hey, I can’t complain when it’s such an affordable retreat. The breakfast wasn’t great either, honestly. You’re better off buying breakfast every morning instead of settling for what the buffet has to offer. It’s just a small buffet. But let me tell you, the yoga classes are absolutely fantastic! All the teachers were amazing, and there’s such a wide variety of yoga styles to choose from.

January 28, 2020 at 12:00 amI can’t think of anything right now… but let me tell you about my incredible experience at Serenity Eco guest-house and Yoga on my first solo yoga trip. It totally exceeded my expectations!
The place had this amazing, chill atmosphere that was so eco-friendly and relaxing. I mean, it gave off such a peaceful vibe that I couldn’t help but fall in love with it. And the staff? Oh my goodness, they were incredibly kind and helpful. They really made me feel at home.
But you know what truly blew me away? The yoga classes. They were absolutely amazing! I wish I could have stayed longer to attend more classes. And trust me, I’m definitely planning on coming back for more.
I just want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the staff and yoga instructors. You guys made my trip so incredibly pleasant. Thank you so much!

January 21, 2020 at 12:00 amI stayed at Serenity 2 and the dorm was near some local houses. The roosters and dogs woke me up a couple of times. The staff was really kind and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and vegan. I also tried the cakes and the restaurant, all vegan and they were great. I felt that the whole place matched well with their food offer, yoga, spa, and permaculture around the property. They even care about the type of chemicals they put in the pool! I joined an amazing ecstatic dance session led by Deva too! They just need to get a proper sound system ? The aerial yoga class was my favorite! You must try it at least once!!! I felt safe, comfortable, and well taken care of 🙂 It was a lovely stay!

January 20, 2020 at 12:00 amI initially enjoyed the food, but it eventually became monotonous with repetitive dishes. I wanted to avoid salads since they were washed with general water, but most dishes contained raw ingredients. I’m not sure what their vegan alkaline diet consists of, but I wished there were more legume-based options. We did have moong beans for breakfast one day, but it was an odd sweet porridge. Overall, breakfast was okay, but the fresh juices were more like purees than actual juice.
I noticed what seemed to be a jacuzzi at one end of the pool, but I couldn’t figure out how to turn it on. While our room was centrally located within the complex, some of the accommodations were quite far away, and the road leading to them was frequently busy. I wouldn’t choose to stay at those alternative places, even if there was a shuttle service available. Despite these concerns, I would definitely return. Booking unlimited yoga classes was perhaps overly ambitious, but we managed to participate in at least one class per day, sometimes even two. There were numerous types and difficulty levels to choose from, with classes running from 7am to 7pm. All the instructors were excellent, and the facilities were top-notch.
The staff went above and beyond, providing exceptional assistance and seeming genuinely passionate about their work. The place was kept impeccably clean, providing a peaceful environment to unwind. The pool was a delightful spot to relax, and we had a fantastic room right next to it. Moreover, the spa treatments were exceptional and reasonably priced. The beach was also just a short walk away.

January 16, 2020 at 12:00 amI stayed at Serenety2. There were a lot of chickens and roosters around, but they didn’t bother me at all. However, the entrance is a big, noisy, wobbly metal gate that is constantly opened and closed by people coming and going.
The room is very noisy because the door is a sliding one that doesn’t completely shut. The beds are very comfortable though! The AC is very quiet and the pool is very clean.
The breakfast is good, but mostly sweet. They always have cut fruits, bread with sweet spreads, and a warm dish like baked banana or porridge.
The room itself is small, with just a bed and a mosquito net, but that’s all you need. The bathroom was cleaned every day.

December 21, 2019 at 12:00 amI’m not sure what was happening there, but everyone who stayed in the dorm, including myself, and many people in other rooms, experienced a terrible 24-hour sickness with vomiting and diarrhea. It could have been the breakfast we all ate, or it might have been related to sanitation or water quality. It’s also possible that there’s a 24-hour flu constantly present due to the frequent flow of people. Regardless, every single person staying in the dorm, as well as people in other rooms, got sick during my 10-day stay. On the positive side, the yoga was fantastic, and I really enjoyed the open-air studios. The pool was beautiful, and the wifi was okay. The location was great, just a few minutes from the beach. It was a really relaxed atmosphere, and the staff provided extremely helpful and kind customer service.

September 9, 2019 at 12:00 amI stayed at the Serene rooms, which were a short distance from the main building. The rooms were great, but I wasn’t a fan of being woken up at 4.30 am by roosters and dogs right outside my window 🙂 It didn’t ruin my experience, but I definitely didn’t feel well-rested because I couldn’t block out the loud noise no matter what I tried, like ear plugs or headphones. But apart from that, the location and concept of the place were fantastic. The vibes and staff were amazing.
Kartana was a perfect fit for my yoga style, and I really appreciated how he corrected my poses. Diaz was incredibly skilled at yoga, but unfortunately, I wasn’t at his level, so I would have preferred more physical corrections since just showing me wasn’t really helpful given my limited knowledge of yoga.
The staff were really great overall, except for one odd experience I had. I think he was the office manager, but when I approached him at the desk, he dismissed me and directed me to another staff member.
Overall, it was a super-duper experience, and I would highly recommend Serenity Eco Lodge.

August 18, 2019 at 12:00 amI didn’t quite imagine a yoga retreat like this. I prefer all-inclusive retreats with the same people, main teachers, and a set schedule.
Here, it’s more like a guest house with drop-in yoga classes. Sometimes, you might be sharing a room with non-yogis, so your schedules might not match up (late nights vs. morning yoga).
Overall, I really enjoyed my experience. It wasn’t exactly what I expected, but for the price, I couldn’t complain! The teachers, classes, and staff were fantastic. I also met some amazing people there.

April 21, 2019 at 12:00 amOur room. Not a night of rest. Just next to a dog breeders according to the receptionist.. constant barking and roosters impossible to sleep well even with earplugs. And these noises continue even during the day. Hearing dogs bark all the time is not pleasant. We had a fridge but no kettle so no hot water available as advertised, having to go 1.5 km for tea is not what I call available. The shower didn’t work, we had hot water one moment and cold water the next. For the budget, the room is not right… and not serene even though that was its name. The Serenity center was nice with the pool, restaurant, and garden but when you don’t sleep there you can’t enjoy the services offered hot water, cold water, rest room, pool, breakfast everything is there thankfully we had a scooter because it was really not close. April 9, 2019 at 12:00 amThe staff was excellent, the teachers were great, and the facilities were wonderful. The location was lovely – away from the crowd but still close enough to easily get to the main road. I would definitely visit again!

March 25, 2019 at 12:00 amThere’s nothing like a great breakfast with so many delicious options to choose from. The yoga classes are taught by such lovely teachers, and there are so many to choose from. The rooms are perfect for the price, and they even include an amazing massage. Plus, it’s very close to the beach and there are plenty of food options nearby, all in a quiet area.
