When it comes to yoga, we offer up to ten daily classes, each introducing different styles such as:
– AERIAL YOGA: Experience the unique combination of traditional mat yoga with suspended postures in soft fabric hammocks. Explore playful, fluid movements that create space in your body without straining your joints and spine. Unlike other classes, feel free to take photos and videos during this session.
– ASHTANGA: Immerse yourself in a guided class that strictly follows the sequence of asanas in the tradition of Sri K Pattabhi Jois. Connect the postures together in a Vinyasa flow and enjoy a deep relaxation at the end of the class.
– BEGINNER: Perfect for those who are starting their yoga journey. Familiarize yourself with the fundamentals of yoga practice and receive detailed instructions for each pose.
– CHAKRA FLOW: Unleash your inner energy with this chakra-based Vinyasa practice. Each week, the class revolves around a different theme such as grounding, opening up, core strength, or heart-opening. Finish the session with Pranayama and Meditation.
– CHAKRA SODHANA MEDITATION: Purify your chakras through this meditation technique. Concentrate on each chakra, visualizing its color, shape, and repeating its root mantra.
– CHEST AND HIP OPENING: Combat the effects of a sedentary lifestyle with this class designed to open and loosen joints and muscles around your hips and chest. Decrease back pain, shoulder tightness, and boost your spirits to support your daily activities.
– CREATIVE VINYASA: Take Vinyasa Flow to the next level with this class that encourages creative movement beyond the usual sequence. Set yourself free and let your body dance to the rhythm of your breath.
– CORE STRENGTH VINYASA: Engage in a deep, vigorous, and energizing Vinyasa practice to enhance your core strength, flexibility, alignment, and body awareness. Every inch of your body will work together to build overall strength and capability, starting from your center!
– DETOX FLOW: Feeling sluggish? Twist it out! Release toxins and leave this class cleansed, glowing, and rejuvenated.
– GENTLE FLOW: Find balance with this class that combines gentle strengthening and mobilizing poses, both dynamic and static, all linked by conscious breath. Perfect for those seeking a softer, slow-paced, well-supported practice.
– FLYHIGH YOGA: Experience the fusion of aerial and Iyengar yoga in this mixed-level class. Move with fluidity, defy gravity, and learn how beautiful an upside-down world can be.
– HATHA: Practice at a slow pace emphasizing the strengthening and loosening of your body, as well as increasing concentration through stable, regular breathing. Hatha Yoga will leave your body open and strong, your breathing unobstructed, and your mind calm and quiet, ready for seated meditation.
– HANDSTAND FOR ALL LEVELS: Learn handstand preparation, build confidence, and discover how to safely balance yourself upside down using different techniques. From wrist preparation to body positions, this class covers everything you need to know.
– POWER YOGA: Engage in a fitness-based Vinyasa practice that builds internal heat, increases stamina, strength, and flexibility, while reducing stress. Power Yoga is an offshoot of Ashtanga Yoga and shares many of the same qualities and benefits.
– RESTORATIVE: Indulge in complete relaxation, centering the breath and body through mental stillness or gentle movement for a prolonged period. Allow your body and mind to rest and restore.
– TANTRIC YOGA: Immerse yourself in this guided, intuitive practice that combines movement, breath, and sound to awaken your life force and release emotional and energetic blocks. Circular breathing takes you to the gateway of your inner healer, releasing low vibrational energy and elevating you to a high frequency of pleasure and bliss.
– VINYASA: Experience the connection of movement and breath in this dynamic sequence of breath-synchronized poses. With Vinyasa Yoga, you’ll enjoy a fluid and flowing practice that opens and strengthens both body and mind.
– YIN YANG: Energize yourself with an uplifting practice before transitioning to a deep, peaceful session, leaving you rejuvenated and balanced for the rest of the day.
– YIN: Immerse yourself in a slow-paced practice where poses are held for 5+ minutes. Targeting connective tissues, ligaments, organs, immune system, bones, and joints, Yin Yoga combines elements of Hatha Yoga, Taoist philosophy, Chinese medicine’s concept of meridians, and Buddhist meditation techniques.
– YIN SOUND HEALING: Combine an hour of meditative stretches with the vibrational tones of singing bowls played around the studio. Singing bowls promote healing from stress, pain, depression, and can reduce imbalances in physiological functioning. They play a positive role in the treatment of various medical disorders.
– YIN RESTORATIVE: Experience the perfect fusion of Yin and Restorative Yoga, offering you a gateway to a life filled with relaxation, mindfulness, and less stress.

March 3, 2024 at 12:00 amSerenity is a fantastic place to stay. It has a great location and serves up super healthy and delicious food. The staff is so friendly and nice, you always feel welcomed. Even when I got sick, they took care of me and supported me to get back well very soon.
The yoga classes they offer are amazing, and every one I joined was great. Thank you for everything. I had a great time and would definitely come back. It’s definitely recommended:)

February 23, 2024 at 12:00 amI didn’t expect everything to be as great as it was. The room was spotless and roomy, the location was awesome, the yoga teachers blew me away, the food was mouth-watering, and the staff was just lovely – so friendly and helpful. You should definitely book your yoga retreat here.

February 17, 2024 at 12:00 amI started off in a single bedroom with a fan, and it was way too hot. My “window” faced the shared indoor bathroom, so I couldn’t get any fresh air.
Helpful ReviewAfter enduring 9 sweltering nights, a room with air conditioning opened up, so I made the switch. There were construction works going on right behind the wall of my room all day long, until the end of my stay. I couldn’t enjoy my room (and the AC) during the day… the noise from the machines was unbearable. I had to shower with earplugs in. The workers were constantly coming in and out through my small terrace, one chair was even marked off with a sign saying “Thank you for your understanding of the inconvenience caused by the construction.”
Other things bothered me too, like the springs in the mattress, the low water pressure in the shower, the hot water only lasting 3 minutes, the worn-out bath towels that didn’t smell fresh at all, the flooding in my room every morning after a night of rain… Instead of fixing the problem, they sent me an email asking me to put all my belongings up high… If I had to do it again, I would only get the yoga pass and stay somewhere else.
PS: I was in the Yang room. The pool is small but very peaceful, surrounded by greenery.
The yoga classes were really great. It’s awesome to have a month pass and be able to decide day by day which classes to attend.
The staff is extremely kind and helpful. From the reception to the restaurant, security, gardeners, housekeeping… thank you to all of them for everything!
Very close to the beach, on a rather quiet street. Very pleasant.

February 5, 2024 at 12:00 amHonestly, absolutely nothing. Serenity is truly a magical place. It exudes a peaceful, gentle, and bright atmosphere. From the employees to the residents, everyone is filled with a genuine kindness.
Helpful ReviewI truly had an idyllic week there, the yoga classes were both interesting, spiritual, and challenging, with teachers who cared about everyone’s well-being, creating a real connection and interaction. The classes were plentiful, varied, and comprehensive, so everyone could find something they enjoyed.
Breakfast was delicious and different every morning, with fresh, high-quality products. I also dined at the Guest House, and the cuisine was truly top-notch.
The garden is a true paradise, despite being close to the bustling life of Canggu, it feels like a jungle filled with trees, flowers, and local wildlife like squirrels, birds, and geckos.
The spa and services offered are of impeccable quality, with staff who are attentive and endlessly kind.
Lastly, the Guest House is ideally located, just steps away from the beach and fabulous sunsets, and close to all necessary shops and services.
I felt at home at Serenity.
I will definitely return.
Thank you all so much for this stay.

January 23, 2024 at 12:00 amI didn’t dislike anything at all. I loved everything there! The best yoga classes in the world are at that place. My favorite was definitely the Hatha classes with teacher Qino, but I also enjoyed yin, power yoga, and sunset flow classes. Qino always gives clear instructions, makes appropriate adjustments, and provides different options for all levels. The yoga shalas and rooms are very clean, and the food in the cafe is delicious and fresh. Everyone who works there is super friendly. You’ll never be bored because there’s always a fun and friendly atmosphere! I’ll definitely be returning. I’ll miss you guys!

January 19, 2024 at 12:00 amI didn’t like that they allowed people to join the class after it started. It’s so disruptive when latecomers try to squeeze in between mats. I find it really disrespectful to the yoga instructors and everyone else in the class. Most places I’ve been to don’t allow it, and I think it should be a rule here too. Despite that, I really enjoyed being there. The yoga instructors, Diaz, Qino, and Yogi, were amazing. Their energy was great, and they were so friendly and nice. The classes were challenging but fun. The staff was also very friendly, and the place was beautiful with lots of plants around the pool.

December 20, 2023 at 12:00 amI found the best option in Canggu! The staff at this place is amazing – they’re so friendly and hardworking. They clean the accommodations daily, making the beds and providing fresh towels even in the dorms. They offer a great selection of yoga classes taught by gifted instructors. The pool and lounge chairs create a true community vibe. During my 12-night stay, I hardly left the place except for a quick walk to the nearby beach. I would definitely come back again.

December 3, 2023 at 12:00 amI stayed in a room that was basically the common room. People would stay up late talking on the phone every night, and the lack of windows made it feel even hotter. The classes were so diverse, and the community of travelers was absolutely beautiful.

October 18, 2023 at 12:00 amThere’s some construction happening across the road which kind of messes with the peaceful atmosphere, but it doesn’t totally ruin the experience. I just adore this place! It has such a peaceful vibe throughout. Plus, the food is incredibly nutritious, tasty, and reasonably priced. The yoga classes are so diverse and the teachers are super professional, while all the staff members are simply delightful. I absolutely love this place! October 13, 2023 at 12:00 amThe noise coming from the nearby bars isn’t really a problem, we can still sleep in the end! The warmth, simplicity, and kindness that this place radiates.
It’s a haven of peace for me. I preferred the dorms for more social interactions. The vegan meals, permaculture, staff, and property were all great. I walked barefoot the whole time.
The proximity to the beach and shops.
The yoga teachers are very professional and knowledgeable, especially Kemie, with whom I took a lot of inversion classes. They are all insightful.
The yoga studios.
The spa, massage area, and wellness facilities.
The pool and the fruit and medicinal trees.
Thank you to the entire team, see you soon!

October 4, 2023 at 12:00 amI wasn’t a huge fan of Canggu, but that’s not the fault of the center. Just make sure you book a room with a private bathroom if you want privacy. The single rooms without a bathroom are cheaper, but they’re so small that they made me feel claustrophobic. The whole staff is incredibly friendly and they make a real effort to focus on sustainability, supporting local businesses, and using organic ingredients for the food. The restaurant and yoga classes are both fantastic. The dorms are spacious and great if you enjoy that kind of traveling. Overall, it was a really nice experience, especially if you’re into surfing since it’s so close to the beach.

October 3, 2023 at 12:00 amWe slept in a 6bed dorm. On the last evening/night, a cat sneaked around our bed and even got partly into it. As someone who is not a fan of cats, or even as a person with allergies to cat hair, I strongly urge to keep cats away from the premises. The atmosphere was amazing. Everything was very clean. The staff was very attentive and helpful.

Don’t miss out on the delicious food at Alkaline, their restaurant. Their chocolate cake is to die for! June 14, 2023 at 12:00 amThe noise around the premises is the only downside, but it’s not really their fault; I just need to mention it. There’s a lot of construction going on, so some classes can get quite noisy. And if you’re staying at Seabreeze, be prepared for the roosters right outside. If you’re a light sleeper, I suggest choosing Serenity for a quieter sleep.
I have to say, though, the yoga class selection was fantastic! All the teachers were absolutely amazing! The staff was always friendly and ready to lend a hand. And the breakfast… oh my, it was simply delicious!

June 5, 2023 at 12:00 amOne thing that really upset me here was the cat situation. They left a small kitten, the mom, and another kitten abandoned here. And to make matters worse, the mom eventually died, leaving her baby all alone. Sometimes the poor thing wouldn’t even get any food. Thankfully, me and some other girls took it upon ourselves to take care of them.
But on a brighter note, let me tell you about the amazing yoga instructors! I absolutely loved their classes. They really know their stuff and made the experience so enjoyable.
But what truly stands out for me is the staff. Everyone at the reception, the cleaning crew, and the breakfast staff are just so incredibly kind and sweet. I’m definitely going to miss them the most.

April 27, 2023 at 12:00 amWe spent an amazing month at Serenity and we really didn’t want to leave. We tried out almost every yoga class and absolutely loved all the teachers and the wide variety of practices they offered. The pool area was the perfect spot for us to unwind, and the staff at the resort were incredibly friendly and attentive to our needs.
The only downside to our stay at Serenity was that some of the private rooms weren’t very comfortable. We ended up trying out four different rooms and unfortunately, all of the mattresses were uncomfortable. They were so bad that we would wake up in the middle of the night with back pain. We strongly advise against staying in the Tarzan room. It doesn’t have air conditioning, lacks privacy, and seems to collect smoke from nearby fires. Even the resort staff would sometimes smoke us out in the morning while boiling water for the restaurant. We let them know about the issue and they were understanding and stopped, but there were still instances where other people in the neighborhood would burn garbage and rice fields. It’s definitely something to consider and avoid.
On a positive note, the Alkaline restaurant was quite good. The prices were reasonable and the food was really healthy. The breakfast buffet was decent, although you can find even better food nearby for just a little more money.
Overall, our experience at Serenity was fantastic and we would definitely go back.

March 6, 2023 at 12:00 amThe wifi is not that great, so you can really get into zen mode. The towels don’t smell fresh and could use a better washing. It’s really good! As soon as I walked in, I felt great. The reception was amazing, they gave me a tour of the place right away and took their time with me. The atmosphere is really calming. The bed is comfortable and it’s covered with curtains and a mosquito net. The room is also pretty dark, even though it’s only half outside. They also make your bed neatly every morning. The breakfast buffet is fantastic! There are so many different vegan options to try: homemade bread slices with peanut butter/jam, fruits, and a different special dish each time (like pumpkin or chickpea soup), plus coffee, tea, milk, and juices! The homemade peanut butter and jam are so delicious!!! The restaurant attached to the place also has tasty vegan options at a good price.
Helpful ReviewI stayed in the shared room with 3 yoga classes. There are about 10 yoga classes to choose from. The instructors are great and considerate of beginners. March 3, 2023 at 12:00 amOther teachers are good too, but they don’t adjust students. I attended Kemi’s class to learn inversion, but she doesn’t really teach it step by step. Instead, she just told me, “if you’re not gonna try, you won’t be able to do it.” But I don’t want to attempt inversions without someone assisting me as I might hurt myself. The yoga classes with Kartana, Mano, Quino, and Yogi are great. These teachers adjust their students and are passionate about sharing their knowledge.

January 19, 2023 at 12:00 amI wish I had done some research before going to Canggu because it wasn’t what I expected. It’s basically taken over by westerners and party-goers. The locals told me that most of the businesses are owned by foreigners now. But if you’re looking to party and see surfers, Canggu is the place to be.
The room I booked was small with just one bed, no desk, and a dresser. It had two windows – one facing the bathroom/shower area and the other facing the alley where people would hang out to smoke (even though it’s supposed to be a non-smoking resort). It was kind of inconvenient because I could hear people going in and out of the bathroom/shower, and sometimes I could even smell cigarettes in my room.
The wifi didn’t reach my room, so there was no way I could make video calls or stream anything online. Other rooms seemed to have no problem with wifi though. Not exactly ideal for a 30-day yoga retreat.
After a few nights, I asked if I could switch rooms (since I saw another guest leaving), or if I could pay more for an upgrade. But unfortunately, they were fully booked and couldn’t accommodate any room swaps.
So, I ended up canceling my stay after the first week and left Canggu. But I have to say, the yoga classes at the facility were amazing. The teachers were super talented, knowledgeable, and communicated really well. I highly recommend them. The staff at the center were also really lovely and brought a positive vibe to the whole place. Thank you to them for that. The pool area was beautiful, although there weren’t many spots to sunbathe. The pool itself wasn’t usually crowded, which was nice. And the spa center next to the pool was great too. I had a Balinese massage there and it was fantastic. The prices were reasonable considering the expertise and the location.
Overall, I would definitely do yoga at this facility again. It’s just a shame that my accommodation experience wasn’t the best.

In my room, we could hear every single noise from the neighboring rooms, which was quite annoying. The yoga teachers here are absolutely fantastic, they have expertise in multiple domains. This was something different for me, and I had to put in great effort to learn and keep up. The massages, staff, and food at this place are also incredible. I genuinely had a great time here! I highly recommend it.

October 27, 2022 at 12:00 amThe dogs they have can get a little noisy at night, but with earplugs, it was easy to go back to sleep, so it wasn’t really a problem! Serenity has this magical power to help you relax and escape the busyness of Canggu. It creates a peaceful and serene atmosphere that surrounds you in green. The teachers here have diverse backgrounds and excellent qualities, giving you a great variety to choose from each day. My room was simple but cleaned every day, and I felt very comfortable. The staff kept the showers and toilets clean regularly, and they were always positive and helpful. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, with fresh fruit, homemade raw breads, and a different hot dish every day, like Balinese porridge, scrambled tofu, or banana pancakes. Everything was extremely delicious. The meals for lunch and dinner were also amazing and made with fresh, wholesome ingredients. I stumbled upon this place by chance, and I’ll definitely come back on my next trip to Bali.

March 30, 2020 at 12:00 amIt was my first time in Bali and overall, I was mostly disappointed with the city of Canggu. It was very touristy with a superficial “Instagram” vibe. Basically, everything is geared towards tourists, so if you’re looking for authenticity, I wouldn’t recommend this city. Pollution is also very prevalent, which can make the sea dirty on rainy days.
As for Serenity, the dorm I stayed in was clean (cleaned every day) and decent, although there were insects, specifically crabs, which was a bit unpleasant but nothing major. Once we mentioned it to the staff, they made an effort to fix the issue.
The biggest downside for me was the health situation. From January to March 2020, many people got sick, including myself. We thought a bacteria (possibly in the water) was causing the fever, diarrhea, and vomiting that we experienced. However, we don’t know for sure, but it was difficult for many other tourists staying at Serenity.
However, I don’t blame the staff at Serenity, as they must have been bothered by this issue as well. For my first solo trip, I decided to go to a center that offered yoga classes so that I wouldn’t be alone in a new country and could deepen my practice. I’m not disappointed with choosing Serenity! The place itself is gorgeous with a beautiful pool, the staff is always friendly and attentive, the teachers are excellent, and the vegan food is pretty good. The people I met there were all in a positive and open-minded mood, which made it easy to connect and have unforgettable moments. A big thank you for the three Balinese massages included in the one-month package.
I recommend Serenity, and even though Canggu wasn’t my favorite city, I would go back just for the kindness of the teachers and staff.

March 20, 2020 at 12:00 amSometimes the guests would make the shared bathroom facilities unclean, specifically the toilet seats. But hey, that’s just because some people are inconsiderate.
At the beginning of class, one of the instructors would take the tokens from us and didn’t pay attention to my request of being left alone with my practice, as I had arranged it. But overall, the accommodations are pretty simple and eco-friendly.
The staff here are incredibly helpful and kind, which is a big plus! And I have to tell you, the vegan breakfast buffet they offer is absolutely AMAZING. The pool area is so peaceful and relaxing. The yoga classes are pretty good too. Most of the instructors practice a more modern style of yoga, focusing more on movement. However, some of them also incorporate traditional practices into their movement routine. So, there’s something for everyone here!
Oh, and the best part is that this place is really close to the beach, which happens to be an amazing surf spot. Plus, there are some nice restaurants within walking distance. Trust me, I definitely recommend checking it out!

March 15, 2020 at 12:00 amThe dorm room didn’t have a key for us to use, and the bathrooms weren’t very clean. The beds were uncomfortably hard, and if you sleep on the bottom bunk, be prepared for centipedes crawling on you at night. It’s really damp here, so you never feel clean or dry unless you leave the dorm. Unfortunately, the food made people sick, so I skipped the breakfast and ate somewhere else. I guess that was just my experience with the dorm, while others seemed fine.
On the positive side, the yoga classes were a lot of fun. The teachers were extremely enjoyable and helpful, especially if you’re new to yoga. The pool is really nice, and the location is great because it’s hidden and quiet, with a 10-minute walk to the main area. The staff were lovely and accommodating. When we had no hot water, they fixed it right away after I mentioned it. It’s a fantastic place to meet people, and the staff and security are available 24/7.

March 14, 2020 at 12:00 amI left the guesthouse slightly disheartened because someone stole my treasured bracelet, as well as my towel and bikini that were drying on a rack. The staff did their best to help, by taking down my name and room number in case the items turned up, and I’m really grateful for that. But I still can’t help feeling a little sour about it. The staff were friendly and there was a convenient 2-minute shuttle from S1 to S2, so I didn’t have to walk 10 minutes in the dark. The food was amazing and such a good deal. The pool was perfect, and I really enjoyed every yoga class (although I left the retreat after a week with aches everywhere, haha!). I just wanted to thank Serenity for giving me an incredible holiday.

March 10, 2020 at 12:00 amIn Serenity 2, the roosters were very loud (louder than expected), and the bathroom smelled at times. They were also doing construction outside the main building, which was also noisy. The dorms here in Serenity 1, in my opinion, weren’t as lovingly furnished as in Serenity 2. However, the staff was very nice, helpful, and accommodating. The food was good, the yoga classes were mostly great, and the location was fantastic. Plus, the pool was really nice, and I felt comfortable.
Helpful ReviewIn Serenity 2, there’s no air conditioning, but there’s a personal fan for each bed. And there are mosquito nets attached to all the beds (in both buildings) – which is a very positive thing.

March 8, 2020 at 12:00 amThe accommodations in Serenity 2 are far from block 1 and not as well furnished as the accommodations in Serenity 1. Our air conditioning broke and it took 5 days before they repaired it, making the temperature unbearable.
Also, I made my reservation on bookyogaretreat which advertised 30 days of unlimited yoga classes, but I still had to pay for the classes. That is disappointing considering the price I paid.

February 17, 2020 at 12:00 amThe restaurant at the hotel was very disappointing. The banana bread tasted like salty dough. I got sick for 4 days after eating there, as did many other people at the hotel at the same time (which is strange). I recommend avoiding the restaurant and eating outside for much better and cheaper food.
Helpful ReviewThe breakfast was tasteless. We knew it was vegan, but everything lacked flavor. When they ran out of pineapple jam and we asked for more because we didn’t like papaya, they said they couldn’t give us more because they had to use up the papaya.
We didn’t eat lunch or dinner at the restaurant, but when we asked for two spoons, they wouldn’t lend them to us. We paid 120 euros for the room and yoga for the week, but unlimited yoga for a week only costs 60 euros. We didn’t think the room (or rather, the bed in a dormitory) was worth 10 euros a night.
The staff was not very welcoming. There wasn’t a nice place to relax if you didn’t want to consume at the restaurant. It’s a shame because we were excited to try the yoga experience in Canggu.
The aerial yoga class was great.
The location was convenient.
The cleanliness of the room and common areas was good.

February 12, 2020 at 12:00 amBreakfasts are so boring and lack imagination – it’s the same thing every day and the quality is low. They really need to improve their hygiene standards. Having stinky dogs in the restaurant is definitely not a good idea! However, the yoga teaching and facilities here are excellent. The accommodation is fair for the price, and the food is just okay. But unfortunately, the breakfasts just got worse as time went on. It’s crazy, but there are so many sick people at the resort and they all say it’s because of the bacterial infection they got from eating the food here!

February 3, 2020 at 12:00 amThe rooms aren’t the best, but hey, it’s a cheap retreat, so what can you expect, right? The breakfast wasn’t that great either. January 21, 2020 at 12:00 amI stayed at Serenity 2 and the dorm was near some local houses. The roosters and dogs woke me up a few times. The staff there was really kind and helpful. The breakfast was vegan and absolutely delicious. I also tried the cakes and the restaurant, which were all vegan and really great. I thought that the whole place really embodied their food offer, yoga, spa, and permaculture around the property. They even take care to use safe chemicals in the pool! I even got to join an amazing ecstatic dance session led by Deva! They just need a better sound system though 😉 The aerial yoga class was my favorite! You have to try it at least once!!! Overall, I felt really safe, comfortable, and well taken care of 🙂 It was a really lovely stay!

January 20, 2020 at 12:00 amI initially enjoyed the food, but it eventually became monotonous with repetitive dishes. I wanted to avoid eating salads due to the water used, but most dishes included raw ingredients. I’m not sure about the specifics of their vegan alkaline diet, but I wish there were more legume-based options. We had moong beans for breakfast one day, but it tasted like a strange sweet porridge. Breakfast was decent overall, but the fresh juices were more like purees than actual juice. I saw what appeared to be a jacuzzi by the pool, but I couldn’t figure out how to turn it on. Although our room was centrally located, some of the accommodations were far away and the road to them was quite busy at times. I wouldn’t want to stay at those alternative places, even if they offered shuttle services. Despite these concerns, I would definitely return. Booking unlimited yoga classes was a bit ambitious, but we managed to participate in at least one class per day, sometimes two. There were numerous options and levels available, with classes running from 7am to 7pm. The instructors were all excellent and the facilities were top-notch. All the staff were extremely helpful and went above and beyond their duties. The place was kept very clean and provided a peaceful environment to unwind. The pool was lovely to relax by, and our ensuite room was conveniently located right next to it. The spa treatments were outstanding and reasonably priced. Additionally, the beach was just a short walk away.

January 16, 2020 at 12:00 amI stayed at Serenety2. There were a lot of chickens and roosters around, but they didn’t bother me at all. However, the entrance is a large, loud, and wobbly metal gate that is constantly being opened and closed by people coming and going.
The room is very noisy because the door is a sliding door that doesn’t completely close. But the beds are very comfortable! The air conditioning is very quiet. The pool is also very clean.
The breakfast is good, but mostly on the sweet side. They always have cut fruit, bread with sweet spreads, and a warm dish like baked banana or porridge.
The room itself is small, equipped with a bed and mosquito net. You don’t need much more than that. The bathroom was cleaned every day.

December 21, 2019 at 12:00 amI’m not exactly sure what was going on there, but every single new person who stayed in the dorm, including me, got hit with this terrible 24-hour sickness that made us throw up and have diarrhea. It could’ve been something we ate for breakfast, or maybe there was an issue with the cleanliness or water quality. Or, it’s possible that there’s some kind of flu going around that thrives in that place because so many people pass through. All I know is that every single person staying in the dorm got sick, and this happened during my 10-day stay.
Now, on to the positive stuff! The yoga classes were amazing, especially since they were held in these wonderful outdoor studios. The pool was stunning and the location was perfect, just a short walk from the beach. It was super laid-back and the customer service was top-notch – the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. September 9, 2019 at 12:00 amI stayed at the Serene rooms, which were just a short distance from the main building. The rooms were perfect, but I didn’t particularly enjoy being woken up at 4.30 every morning by the roosters and dogs right outside my window. It didn’t ruin my experience, but it definitely didn’t leave me feeling well-rested. No matter what I tried – ear plugs, headphones – I just couldn’t block out the crazy noise they made every day. However, the location and concept of the lodge were fantastic, and the vibes and staff were great.
Kartana was more in line with my yoga style, and I appreciated how he corrected my poses. Diaz was amazing at yoga, but unfortunately, I wasn’t at his level, so I would have preferred more physical corrections rather than just showing me.
The staff was absolutely fantastic, although I did have one strange experience. I think he was the office manager, but when I approached him at the desk, he simply dismissed me and told me to speak to someone else.
Overall, my experience at Serenity Eco Lodge was super, super amazing, and I would highly recommend it.

June 9, 2019 at 12:00 amThe finishing touches in the bathrooms get a lot of use from many people. If you’re looking for more entertainment in terms of nightlife, shopping, etc., you’ll have to walk a bit, about 15 minutes. It’s doable during the day but a bit less convenient at night. I found it to be a nice place to land in Bali. There’s tranquility and plenty of cozy spots to settle in. There’s a wide range of good yoga classes available. The spa is delightful and very reasonably priced. The beach is just a 2-minute walk away. The staff is friendly and helpful.

June 6, 2019 at 12:00 amMy room felt noisy with a chicken singing all day and scooters driving in the driveway. There are plenty of classes available each day with a variety of teachers. All levels are welcome and we provide everything you need like mats, blocks, straps, and towels. Staying at Serenity makes it easy to attend classes daily. The staff at Serenity are helpful, understanding, and kind.

Plus, the beach is just a short walk away so the location is perfect. All the yoga teachers were fantastic, I enjoyed every single class. And getting a massage in the lodge was so convenient for a relaxed day. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a budget-friendly, relaxing retreat!

May 27, 2019 at 12:00 amWe found the breakfast options a bit disappointing and they got repetitive after the second day, but our stay at Serenity Eco Guesthouse and Yoga was lovely overall! May 19, 2019 at 12:00 amI loved all the yoga classes, especially having different teachers with different approaches. I attended 81 classes in a month, but there was one class I had to leave. Hannah’s Sunset flow had nothing physical, spiritual, or useful at all! It was a total waste of time that I wouldn’t even consider yoga.
Yudah’s classes aren’t bad, but his English needs work… Hearing bad grammar and excessive talking can be annoying. Some people even left his class because of it. Hopefully, he can improve by learning the instructions in proper English that he repeats. The lessons themselves are good though!
The Alkaline restaurant has some issues. It’s slow and chaotic, with tables getting served out of order. The kitchen needs to be more organized to cater to guests on tight yoga schedules. Despite the hiccups, the breakfast is fantastic – try the sweet porridge!
The staff at Serenity is amazing! They work hard and are always willing to help. Treat them with respect and understand their perspective. They are clever, skilled, and dedicated to their jobs. The reception and yoga teams are top-notch – a special shoutout to Suci, Augustinus, Evi, and Willy. The drivers and massage services are also excellent. Don’t forget to tip them directly!
I extended my stay at Serenity multiple times and highly recommend the shared dorm at Serenity 2 with AC. It feels like coming home after a long day of yoga practice.
Big thanks to all the yoga instructors – Diaz, Chitra, Mia, Nia, Yogi, Kartana, Mano, Ika Dewi, Todjon, Sida, Amanda, and Lala. Each one of you brought something unique to the table, and I learned a lot from all of you.

May 2, 2019 at 12:00 amI was surprised when I had to surrender my passport upon arrival. I asked if I could pay cash for the first night since I arrived at 1:30 am, but it seemed like giving up my passport was the only way to get a room. This is very unusual based on my travel experiences.
I stayed in B7, and the dog got into the common area before the stairs up to the toilet. When I came down on my second night, he growled and barked aggressively, but thankfully ran away. I have to admit, I was a bit scared!
The yoga classes were challenging, more difficult than I expected, but the instructors made it fun! The food was creative and imaginative. I’m not vegan, but I enjoyed sampling the menu. The pool and massage facilities were also very nice, exceeding my expectations. The pre-arranged ride from the airport was well worth it! My driver spoke good English and patiently waited while customs and immigration took a full 90 mins.

April 21, 2019 at 12:00 amOur room was not a peaceful place to rest for the night. Right next to a dog breeder according to the receptionist… constantly barking dogs and roosters making it impossible to sleep well even with earplugs. And these noises continued throughout the day. Hearing dogs barking all the time is not pleasant. We had a fridge but no kettle so no hot water available as stated, having to walk 1.5km for a tea doesn’t count as available. The shower didn’t work properly, we would get a burst of hot water and then cold water. For the price, the room was not acceptable… and definitely not serene despite its name. The Serenity center was nice, the pool, restaurant, and garden were good but when you don’t stay there, you can’t enjoy the services offered like hot and cold water, relaxation room, pool, breakfast, everything is there thankfully we had a scooter because it was really not close by. The yoga classes and equipment are perfect and there are classes available at any time of the day.

December 8, 2018 at 12:00 amIf you’re a camping fan, Serenity is the place for you. Personally, it’s not my cup of tea. The mosquito situation is out of control, and all they offer is some useless mosquito lotion and turning off the lights. It’s more like a Guesthouse with a yoga pass than a peaceful retreat. The class schedule is a bit misleading – only one beginners class, and the other classes aren’t really beginner-friendly. The instructors are hit or miss. Nia cares more about Instagram photos than actual yoga. Todjion didn’t offer any adjustments. Magdelena, on the other hand, was fantastic – real yoga with options for all levels.
I got sick during my stay and needed a doctor, but the staff didn’t seem to care. It took forever to find one, and I had to wait four hours to see him. Not cool when you’re a young solo traveler. The rooms were a disaster – bugs everywhere, noisy parties and motorbikes. But the food at Alkaline restaurant was delicious, and the surfing experience was top-notch. Some of the staff were actually helpful though.

August 14, 2018 at 12:00 amSome of the bathrooms weren’t too desirable, but staff still kept them clean. It can get noisy outside your dorms in the morning with staff and the “fire man” as we started calling him, but if you’re up early anyway for yoga you learn to deal. It would be nice though if the aircon could be on a timer so they don’t wake you every morning when they come in to shut it off. Also, it seems strange that they open the window as soon as they turn off the air. Wouldn’t you want to keep the cold air in as long as possible?! It would be great if the later, more relaxing yogas were in a quieter room. It can be very distracting with the motor bikes and people talking right under you. These are all minor things and wouldn’t stop me from returning 🙂 Everything exceeded my expectations. There was a great selection of classes and fantastic teachers. By the end of it, you find yourself in a pretty great routine! The food was amazing and the staff went above and beyond! I love the mosquito lotion! Can’t wait to go back… hopefully soon!

July 23, 2018 at 12:00 amI loved everything about my stay at Serenity, but I had a bad experience with bug bites. One morning, I woke up with my whole back, shoulders, and feet covered in bites. There were so many that I had an allergic reaction. I believe they were bedbugs, not mosquito bites. The staff told me they were from bugs outside of our rooms, but who knows? I never saw any bugs, just woke up with 100 bites. People at yoga class noticed my bites and some said they had similar ones. One girl mentioned that bedbugs were a common issue at Serenity, which is why she only goes to yoga class there. The staff tried to help by putting coconut oil on my bites, but I still had more the next day. I decided to cancel my last week at Serenity and go to Ubud instead. It was hard to focus on yoga and meditation with the itching from the bites. It seems like the bug problem was more in the single rooms, while the dorms were okay. Overall, Serenity is a great place for solo travelers looking for peace, meeting like-minded people, and practicing yoga in a beautiful environment. The location is perfect, close to the beach, and the yoga classes are excellent. The staff is friendly and prices are reasonable. I especially enjoyed Kartana and Pusbas’s classes, but there are options for everyone at Serenity. The spa was also very good.

April 14, 2018 at 12:00 amI think this yoga retreat falls short. It doesn’t have a set program, coaching, or guidance. You just get a pass and accommodation, and then you’re left to figure out what classes to take on your own. This can be really frustrating, especially for beginners.
Plus, the place is way busier than I expected based on the descriptions and website. This is mostly due to the popular restaurant and the walk-ins for yoga classes. When you add this to the lack of structure, it doesn’t feel like a retreat at all in my opinion.
Overall, though, it’s a nice budget-friendly place to stay and do some yoga. The lessons are generally good (although the quality varies between teachers), the accommodation is nice, the pool is great, and the location near the beach is fantastic.

April 12, 2018 at 12:00 amI’d like to see more plug sockets and air conditioning units in the rooms. The yoga here is top-notch and the whole package is a great deal. The massages were a nice addition and just as fantastic.
Helpful ReviewWhen I arrived after a 20-hour journey, I wasn’t sure if I would stay because as a westerner the room seemed too basic. But within a couple of days, this place felt like home, with such a friendly vibe. If I had to nitpick, I’d say the rooms could use more plug sockets and aircon because the ceiling fans didn’t do much. The shared bathroom facilities were great though, always plenty of toilets and showers available.
A lot of people got Bali belly, so I suggest bringing along some Imodium, though it wasn’t the hostel’s fault, mostly off-site food.
I highly recommend the 30-day program, it gives you plenty of time to relax, recharge, and enjoy the yoga.

March 8, 2018 at 12:00 amThe philosophy of the yoga teachers varied a lot. I felt uncomfortable at times because it was always about pushing yourself further and comparing who had the best stretch in class. It really ruined the yoga experience, especially for those who were new to practicing yoga.
There was also a virus going around, with someone different getting sick every day and spending a lot of time near a toilet. We suspected it might have been the food at the restaurant, as no one had these problems before coming to Bali.
The staff took good care of me – they brought me water and charcoal tablets in the middle of the night, and even more the next day. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making it easy to feel comfortable. It was really special!
My room, KrisKros, was very spacious and well-equipped: fridge, mosquito net, fan, air conditioning, you name it.
The package with accommodation and the yoga pass was also incredibly affordable!
I highly recommend trying out the meditation classes – they were really good!

February 22, 2018 at 12:00 amThe instructor allowed and encouraged people to take photos during the aerial class, but I think they should have waited until after class because it was very off putting.
My partner and I got very sick halfway through the retreat, so no more yoga for us. We can’t be sure where we got it from, but we only ate at one restaurant outside Sanctuary and it was always very busy. There were others at Sanctuary who were also sick. People didn’t properly wipe the mats, and I’m not convinced the cutlery and dishes were disinfected. The staff gave us a charcoal drink that really helped, but since we were in Sanctuary 2, we were quite cut off. For example, I messaged asking if breakfast could be brought to us because we were so unwell, and didn’t get a response for 24 hours. It’s fantastic value, just don’t get sick! We managed 3 months in Asia without any issues, but it was our last week of traveling that got us. The classes were great, the pool area was very nice, and the breakfast was lovely. The room had everything we needed, and the free insect repellent was a nice touch. The staff were lovely.

February 6, 2018 at 12:00 amWiFi is really annoying, but I swear they make you sign in every 15 minutes just so you have to type the password “may all be happy” over and over again. February 3, 2018 at 12:00 amThe bed bugs were going around, and they didn’t use chemicals. The mosquitos and flies seemed immune to their natural repellent and even store-bought mosquito repellent. The owner was a little rigid too. I actually had to get a refund because I couldn’t stand to be there anymore. But I did like the location and the yoga instructors.

January 30, 2018 at 12:00 amBed bugs infested our dorm, but the staff neglected to address it properly and refused to cover the cost of washing our clothes to get rid of them when we left. Some staff members had a bad attitude towards the bed bugs and didn’t show concern when multiple people fell ill, possibly from the food. Despite these issues, I enjoyed the yoga classes and the instructors, as well as the pool area. The food, although delicious, left everyone in the dorm feeling unwell, leading to suspicions that it may have been the cause. I appreciated the eco-friendly approach to everything at the facility.

January 23, 2018 at 12:00 amI didn’t like Canggu itself. The yoga spot was like an island in the craziness of Canggu. It was busy, especially with surfers parading around with their surfboards all day, which was a strange contrast to the serenity of Serenity. I didn’t feel comfortable in Canggu. I really liked the guests at Serenity. Everyone was there for the same reason, so there was a sense of connection. The yoga classes were really nice and you were pretty close to all the shops and restaurants in Canggu.

January 19, 2018 at 12:00 amThere were bed bugs in three different beds. The management did not take this problem seriously and said they had checked, when they had not. They also acted unaware when they actually knew about the situation. When confronted, they just changed their story. This is disrespectful and very uncomfortable. It does not live up to their name, “Serenity.”

January 18, 2018 at 12:00 amI had to stay at Kris Kris, the 3rd building for one night. I didn’t like it much because the room smelled like a toilet. Serenity Yoga and Guesthouse is a welcoming place where they treat you with a smile and make you feel at home right away. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay in the main building because it was fully booked. I stayed at Serenity 2 and rented a bicycle to get around. The yoga classes were challenging at first since I hadn’t practiced in two years, but the teachers explained things well, offered alternative poses, and pushed me to do better. In a short amount of time, I gained strength, lost weight thanks to the amazing alkaline restaurant, and felt at peace in both my mind and soul. I left reluctantly and wished I had booked for four weeks instead!

January 17, 2018 at 12:00 amThe shower didn’t have any hot water and bugs were always getting inside. The toilet had damp tissue paper. The yoga mats and tools stank so badly that I had to leave the class a few times because it made me feel sick. It was really awful. If you can’t stand the smell, I suggest bringing your own yoga mat. The food at the alkaline restaurant was good, but not cheap. I also enjoyed the high quality yoga classes and the helpful staff.

However, they had trouble finding me in their system 4 times even though I had paid for my yoga classes. It seemed like they just wanted to make extra money. Despite paying for 5 classes, they insisted they couldn’t find me and I had to show my receipt each time to book my yoga class. The first time, they tried to charge me 110k instead of 90k per class, claiming it was “high season.” It was frustrating to argue with them every time. July 1, 2017 at 12:00 amI experienced a language barrier when I tried to address some concerns. I had lost my room key and was leaving the next day. The manager had arranged for a driver to pick me up from a different location because I was heading to the Gili Islands in the morning. The plan was for me to pay my key deposit minus the cost of replacing the key. But, I actually found my key stuck in the lining of my backpack. The next day, the driver from Eco didn’t show up, so I had to walk to the main building to make sure I wouldn’t miss my prepaid boat ride. It was pretty unsafe to be walking around so early. The shuttle driver was annoyed because we had to turn back to get my luggage.
Even though I found my key, I was still charged for a replacement because that was the management’s instructions and all they left for me. I didn’t get a chance to explain the situation. The Eco staff tried to help but they couldn’t do much without proper protocol. The rooster outside my window kept me up all night with its crowing, which was super annoying. I couldn’t sleep at all. On the bright side, the location near the beach was really nice. Overall, most of the staff were friendly, but there were definitely some issues that could have been handled better.

May 28, 2017 at 12:00 amThe rooms were not very clean. I stayed in three different rooms – first the shared dorms which were probably the best and cleanest. Then in two other locations with my own room. In both rooms, the bedding was dirty. The first had blood on it, almost like someone had squashed a mosquito full of blood on the sheets. The second had white stains on the dark blanket that almost looked like sex juice. Both rooms were supposed to have hot water and AC. The shower in the first room didn’t work and even after it was fixed, there was no hot water. The AC in the second room was broken. I have to give credit to the staff, though. They sent maintenance to fix the problems in just a few hours after I brought them up.
Most of the staff were nice, but the owner seemed quite rude. Once, when I was in the common area chatting on my phone, he rudely told me to leave while he was talking to the staff and gestured aggressively. Some of the yoga teachers were lovely, but a few were arrogant and rude. In one class, the teacher seemed like a drill sergeant, and in another, she tried to adjust me into a pose I wasn’t ready for, hurting my back. That was pretty dangerous! Luckily, there was no serious damage. Most of the yoga classes were good, but some teachers were horrible.
The food at the restaurant was healthy and fresh, and the location was great! I liked that the accommodation was smoke and alcohol-free, attracting like-minded people who were health-conscious, creating a great vibe with plenty of interesting people to talk to. It was a great hangout spot!
