November 21, 2023 at 12:00 amI’m not sure what the agreement was between World Peace Yoga school and the hotel, but I’m confident we could have gotten better quality food for the money we paid. When I booked this teacher training, I thought I could handle eating the same meal every day, but boy was I wrong. We were mostly served steamed or fried rice, french fries, vegetables, tofu, tempeh, and salad twice a day. Sometimes, we even found unwashed salad or mold on our plates. I really wished we had more variety in our meals, like quinoa, lentils, or different nuts instead of just peanuts, even if it was only every few days. Breakfast was the only good meal!
Another thing that bothered me was that the teacher training I actually booked was completely different from what I got. The pictures of the hotel didn’t match my experience, and it seems like this program was new. The title of the training had “Ayurveda” in it, so I was expecting more lessons on that topic than the two we got at the end. Still, I’m happy with what I learned and experienced. Just a heads up for future bookers, things might not turn out as expected (but hey, that’s life, right?). I really enjoyed learning from the teachers and deepening my knowledge about Yoga.
The schedule was tight, but that’s what I wanted so I could fully engage in the experience. The quality of the lessons was top-notch, and the teachers’ dedication to teaching us thoroughly was clear. That was the most important thing to me. Thank you so much.
The hotel resort was spotless, and I loved my spacious room. The rooftop was the perfect spot for meditation, and the small gym was a nice bonus to have!

August 24, 2023 at 12:00 amI recently finished my 200hr Kundalini YTT with World Peace Yoga School and it was an incredible experience. The setting in Bali was beautiful, but the real highlight was the amazing teachers. I will always be thankful for this enriching experience and for the wonderful GuruJi and HariPriya.

June 5, 2023 at 12:00 amI just returned from my 200 hour Kundalini Teacher training and everything was perfect! It was one of the best experiences of my life and I can’t wait to go back for more. The teachers were amazing – their knowledge, passion, and clarity in teaching was unquestionable. The kitchen staff served delicious, fresh meals three times a day and I didn’t get sick at all. The front of house staff were always there to help with any questions and they always had a solution. Everyone was so kind, caring, respectful, and friendly.

March 29, 2023 at 12:00 amThe construction of the rooftop made the yoga hall dirty and uncomfortable, with temperatures that were too hot or too cold. After two days of rain, I caught a cold. The mats were filthy and emitted a terrible odor. The school’s atmosphere was less than ideal, feeling commercial and lacking positive energy. Due to these issues, I ended up not completing the course, much to the frustration of everyone in my group. While the group itself was nice and some lessons were good, the overall experience fell short of expectations. On a positive note, the school’s location and view were quite nice.

June 17, 2022 at 12:00 amI regretted staying at the school and would recommend just paying for the course and staying/eating elsewhere. It would have made my experience better and saved me money. I ended up eating out most of the time because students before me had gotten very ill from the food and water. The food wasn’t very balanced, just carbs and oil, though it did taste good. The accommodation was basic, with a bed that was even harder than my wooden bed during Vipassana, haha! If I had stayed at a hostel, I would have had a cleaner space, no 10:30 pm curfew, a comfy bed, and probably fewer night terrors. The teachers here are all amazing. I had Dr. Lata Ji, Sunil Ji, Kanna Ji, Dr. Himanshu Ji, Naveen Ji, and a special shoutout to Siddha Ji. Every teacher was extremely knowledgeable and opened my mind with their words. I felt privileged to be taught by such highly educated and intelligent individuals every day.

May 31, 2022 at 12:00 amThere are no tools to clean. You can’t mop or wash the sink in the room. The food was decent the first two weeks, but then they just kept serving us the same things every day. I started eating out on the street every day… I thought I was here to get in shape, but I ended up gaining weight :/ I really liked the group of people who came to get certified with me… we all got along really well. The days were fun, dynamic, and busy all day.
I really enjoyed the ashtanga classes with Ashu for adjustments and alignment, and the Anatomy classes with Himanshu were my favorites. I also really liked the Philosophy class 🙂

June 15, 2020 at 12:00 amThe internet in India can sometimes be a bit temperamental, so we had to be patient with it. But that wasn’t a problem at all – we always managed to fix it, although it was a bit challenging.
This review covers accommodation and food, but keep in mind, this was an online course. The course itself was fantastic. It was divided into 2 parts: theory and practical, both of which I really enjoyed. The theory part could be a bit tough to grasp, so having some prior knowledge of Hindu gods and goddesses would definitely help.
The practical classes were absolutely amazing. Every day, I felt refreshed, renewed, and filled with love. The teachers delivered the classes with confidence and deep knowledge, which was truly inspiring. It’s incredible that they were able to convey all of this through a screen – it really speaks volumes about the school and the course.

January 28, 2020 at 12:00 amThe facilities at the school are terrible. Mold is growing on the walls, there is no cleanliness, the food is only carbs, and the kitchen is disgusting. Our class had 4 people, with 3 of us living at the school, and we all got very sick. There is no hot water in the female dorm, and there is a water outage at least once a day. The staff is impolite and always on their phones, even the owner during kirtan. We enrolled for a 300-hour course, but only received half the hours needed for certification. The school is a scam and does not meet Yoga Alliance requirements.
BookYogaRetreats assisted us in trying to get a refund. We received a small refund from the school and a refund of the commission from BookYogaRetreats. I would not recommend this place to anyone. July 9, 2019 at 12:00 amUnfortunately, the yoga classes were in Lithuanian due to a last-minute teacher change, even though they were announced in English. However, a very capable translator and a dedicated yoga teacher made up for it! Overall, it was a wonderful stay in Lithuania. The accommodation was fine. On the other hand, the food was fantastic, with fresh vegan meals every day. The sessions with Vishnu Pranighari were incredibly valuable. The yoga classes led by a Lithuanian yoga teacher also greatly enriched my yoga practice.

December 31, 2018 at 12:00 amI wasn’t really disappointed at all. I knew the ashram wasn’t going to be a fancy 5-star hotel, but it had everything I needed. When I visited in December, it was a bit colder than I expected, but I had enough blankets to stay warm. The hot water for showers didn’t last long, but hey, cold water in the morning really helps wake you up!
I did the 200-hour Kundalini yoga teacher training and it surpassed all my expectations. The staff and teachers were amazing – so knowledgeable and friendly. They felt like family. Despite the intense schedule (waking up at 5am and going to bed at 10pm), I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in the spiritual side of yoga. We had plenty of opportunities to practice meditation, asanas, and more as a group. Plus, there was enough free time to explore the town and have some fun!

December 5, 2018 at 12:00 amWe only spent 10 minutes on teaching methodology. Honestly, I thought we would spend more time discussing how to build a sequence, correct postures, and what to do at the start and end of the practice. I think you should start implementing this from the second week and ask students to practice for 30 minutes daily, providing constructive feedback. I joined this course to become a teacher, not just to practice yoga every day.
I would appreciate constructive feedback from the teachers rather than just hearing ‘very good.’ I want to know my progress and what I can improve on. Throughout the course, we asked for constructive feedback multiple times but only received generic responses.
As a yogi, I expected plain food, not heavily spiced meals. The repetitive menu of heavy food with lots of black peppers wasn’t what I had in mind. I requested plain food and ended up eating boiled carrots and potatoes for a month. I believe yogic food should support the body, mind, and soul.
In my opinion, the manual should include adjustments for each pose and better explanations of muscle anatomy. It should also provide guidance on poses for certain health issues like herniated disks. This experience helped me look deeper into myself and changed my perspective on life and the world. I learned breathing techniques and skills that I can now share with others. I enjoyed the opportunity to connect with people from different countries and appreciated all the knowledge the teachers shared with us.

October 31, 2018 at 12:00 amThe course ended on a high note! The accommodation may not be the best, so just keep that in mind – but the view from the room definitely makes up for it. The food is absolutely amazing, cooked with love. It can get a bit repetitive, but it’s still really delicious. The teachers were incredible! Each one was so inspiring and knowledgeable, genuinely interested in our learning. The subjects were fascinating and taught exceptionally well. The environment is perfect for introspection and sharing your spiritual journey with like-minded people. Rishikesh is a beautiful city, with lovely people (don’t forget to stay a few extra days after the course to explore). Highly recommend!

September 24, 2018 at 12:00 amWe arrived during monsoon season and it rained constantly. Some rooms got a bit moldy with no proper ventilation, but others were in perfect condition. The moldy rooms didn’t ruin our experience though – it just added to the adventure of embracing the present and adapting to new challenges. It led us on a wonderful inner journey, prompting us to ask ourselves new questions and learn to live in the moment.

July 29, 2018 at 12:00 amThe accommodation was incredibly dirty and noisy, making it hard for me to sleep with all the motorbike and animal noises. Our teacher looked really young, but he was a nice guy. However, he wasn’t very professional as a yoga teacher. I met some really fantastic people from all over the country who made the experience of taking yoga classes, going on excursions, and eating together really enjoyable. Without them, this retreat would have been a disaster.

July 23, 2018 at 12:00 amThe course timetable and inclusions were falsely advertised, and there were fewer teaching hours than expected. They did not cover any teaching methodology, which led to an overall feeling of disappointment and tension. It was definitely not the yogic vibe we were hoping for. I wouldn’t recommend it – it felt more like a Yin intensive than a teacher training. However, the location, accommodation, and food were good, and some of the staff were very knowledgeable. They did listen to complaints and made some adjustments.

June 6, 2018 at 12:00 amI loved everything about my experience at World Peace Yoga School in Rishikesh. The living conditions were a bit humbling compared to what I’m used to, but it all added to the experience and I felt safe the entire time. Some students complained about the food, but you can’t please everyone, right? Personally, I had no complaints and even if I did, there are local cafes and restaurants where you can get a full meal for less than $4 USD.
I can’t fully express how wonderful and fulfilling it was to take the 200hr yoga certification course here. From the moment I arrived at the school, I felt at home. Guru Vishnu greeted us at the entrance and a volunteer helped us with our luggage and showed us to our rooms. Everyone there is so kind and they all become friends. My yoga beliefs and knowledge have truly deepened. I had some apprehensions about taking the course here instead of in the city, but I’m so glad I did. The teachers are amazing and have a wealth of knowledge. Classes start early and go late, six days a week, so it’s a physical and mental challenge, but it’s all worth it in the end.
I could go on and on about all the people and experiences at WPYS, but there’s not enough room here, haha. I’m excited to hopefully complete my 300hr course here within the next year or two and apply everything I’ve learned at home. Can’t wait!

They made sure we had everything we needed and even surprised us with some unexpected adventures. February 16, 2018 at 12:00 amI expected to have different teachers, but we ended up with the ones we got. We had planned to stay at the Tapovan Resort, but they took us somewhere else instead. The accommodations were okay, but not worth the price we paid. It was really hard to communicate with the staff because they didn’t speak English. It felt like they were making fun of us behind our backs. We had to wake up the staff at 7:30am, and they were sleeping on the floor of the dining room, which was strange. The staff who took us to the Beatles Ashram had no idea where it was and didn’t even know who the Beatles were, haha!

February 15, 2018 at 12:00 amThe food wasn’t fresh or detoxifying. They didn’t offer any juices or tea. No one ever cleaned our room. One of the yoga rooms had a monkey pee and we still had class there without enough supplies. The trips were disorganized. January 21, 2018 at 12:00 amThe rooms felt freezing. When I asked about heat, they told me to stick the loose wires (laden with thick dust) into the hole in my room. My sheets were old & dirty. The room was depressing and so cold I couldn’t shower, as my towel never dried and I would freeze getting out. I ended up showering at my friend’s place around the corner! I only had 3 excursions (I was only there 5 days, so I should have had 2 more). Talking to people I met, I found out I paid A LOT more, and they seemed much happier with their accommodations. The staff provided no advice or help on trips. I was the only one on the retreat this week and I was made to feel more like a nuisance. It felt like they took the money on arrival and that was it. Unfortunately, I would not stay again or recommend it. My instructor was very friendly and I enjoyed his teaching and approach on our trips. It’s strange that he isn’t listed above. Despite the negatives, my massage was lovely.

January 7, 2018 at 12:00 amI arrived at the retreat as planned on Dec 25 and found out that my room wasn’t ready because of plumbing issues. They moved me to a less desirable place across the street, and it wasn’t until I spoke up about the unfairness of it all that they finally moved me to a better place. Unfortunately, my room still wasn’t ready for another two nights, so I decided to leave the retreat program and attend yoga classes at nearby studios on my own. The yoga instructor at the retreat was not very good and seemed to be teaching us as if we were in a teacher training program rather than a retreat. He kept repeating himself.
Despite all this, I was unable to get a refund of my deposit from WPY, even though they were the ones who didn’t hold up their end of the deal. I felt deceived by the whole experience and don’t plan on returning or recommending the school. On a more positive note, the food on Christmas night was delicious and plentiful.
I was grateful that someone came to pick me up from the bus station and even took me shopping at the market since it was so cold and I needed to buy some thermals. The driver and his partner were incredibly kind, sweet, and considerate.
The trip to the Shiv temple where we could see the Himalayas was absolutely amazing.

November 8, 2017 at 12:00 amWe had to leave our new family, but my wife and I are very grateful to WPYS for making our week retreat unforgettable. They met us perfectly on time at the airport. July 22, 2017 at 12:00 amI didn’t like the living conditions of the staff. It’s something that really needs to change. They should be paid way better (considering the price we pay to go there) and get rooms with fewer people and AC. The energy of the people you meet in a yoga retreat is absolutely beautiful. I learned a lot from all my classmates and we were constantly sharing questions and very nice energy. I changed both physically and mentally because I got way more flexible and started learning how to live in the present, and I love it. India is not the cleanest or most organized country, but if you have a good attitude, you will enjoy it a lot. Honestly, it all depends on you. July 21, 2017 at 12:00 amWhen they delivered the rooms, several complained about the lack of bed linen and towels. The quarters are as shown in the pictures but lack towels or sheets and are not very clean. You ask them about it and they are very nice, but everything is very grimy and clearly well-used. Everyone has to buy their own toilet paper. When you wash your clothes, they take forever to dry because there’s nowhere to hang them and it’s very uncomfortable to see that mess in the room. With these issues resolved, the stay would be wonderful. The teachers are very good, and it’s nice to share with classmates from all over the world. The school’s location is great.
