March 3, 2024 at 12:00 amSerenity is a really great place to stay. It is good located and offers super healthy and delicious food. Everyone working there they are so friendly and nice you always feel welcomed. Even if I got sick they were taking care of me and supporting me to get back well very soon.
Helpful ReviewAlso the offering of the Yoga classes is huge and each I was joining turned out a good one.
Thank you for everything. I enjoyed my time and would always come back.
So absolutely to be recommended:)

February 17, 2024 at 12:00 amI started off in a single bedroom with a fan and it was way too hot. My “window” was facing the shared indoor bathroom, so there was no way to get some fresh air. After enduring 9 long hot nights, a room with air conditioning became available, so I switched. There were construction works right behind the wall of my room, going on all day long until the end of my month there. I couldn’t even enjoy my room (and the AC) during the day because the noise of the machines was unbearable. I had to shower with earplugs. The workers kept coming and going through my small terrace, where one chair was blocked off to hang a sign saying “Thank you for your understanding of the inconvenience caused by the works.” Other things bothered me, like the springs in the mattress, the low water pressure in the shower, the hot water running out after 3 minutes, the worn-out bath towels that didn’t smell fresh at all, the flooding in my room every morning after a night of rain… Instead of fixing the issue, I was asked via email to put all my belongings higher up… If I had to do it over, I would only get the yoga pass and stay somewhere else.
Helpful ReviewPS: I was in the Yang room. The pool is small but very peaceful and surrounded by greenery.
The yoga classes were really good. It’s great to have a month pass and decide day by day which classes to attend.
The staff is extremely kind and helpful. From reception, to the restaurant, security, gardeners, housekeeping… thank you to them for everything!
Very close to the beach, on a rather quiet street. Very pleasant.

February 5, 2024 at 12:00 amHonestly, absolutely nothing. Serenity is a truly magical place. A peaceful, gentle, and luminous atmosphere prevails there. From employees to residents, everyone is filled with genuine kindness.
Helpful ReviewI truly had an idyllic week there, with yoga classes that were both interesting, spiritual, and challenging, taught by teachers who cared about everyone’s well-being, creating a real connection and interaction. The classes were plentiful, varied, and comprehensive, so everyone could find happiness in them.
Breakfast was delicious and different every morning, with fresh and high-quality products. Having also dined at the Guest House, I can say the cuisine is truly top-notch.
The garden is a true paradise, despite being close to the vibrant life of Canggu, it feels like being in the middle of a jungle, full of trees and flowers, with a local fauna of small squirrels, birds, and geckos.
The spa and services offered are of impeccable quality, with staff who are attentive and once again incredibly gentle.
Lastly, the Guest House is ideally located, just steps away from the beach and fabulous sunsets, and close to all necessary shops and services.
I felt at home at Serenity.
I will definitely return. Thanks to everyone for this wonderful stay.

January 23, 2024 at 12:00 amI loved everything at that place! The yoga classes there are the best in the world. My absolute favorite was Hatha classes with teacher Qino, but they also offer yin, power yoga, and sunset flow. Qino always gave clear instructions, made appropriate adjustments, and provided different options for all levels. The yoga shalas and rooms were very clean. The food in the cafe was also very tasty and fresh. Everyone who worked there was super friendly. There was always a funny and friendly atmosphere, so you’ll never feel bored. I will definitely go back there again! I will miss you guys!

January 19, 2024 at 12:00 amI didn’t like that they allow people to join class after it started. It’s really annoying when latecomers try to squeeze in between mats, disrupting the flow and being disrespectful to the instructors and everyone else in class. Most places I’ve been don’t allow it.
But I did enjoy my time there. The yoga instructors – Diaz, Qino, and Yogi – were amazing. Their energy, friendliness, and challenging but fun classes were great. The staff was friendly, and the place was beautiful with lots of plants around the pool.

Everything exceeded my expectations, from the location to the yoga classes and the friendly staff that made it feel like a second home. The food at Alkaline restaurant on the premises was a big plus. December 20, 2023 at 12:00 amI believe I chose the best out of all the options in Canggu! The staff at this place is amazing – they are so friendly and hard working. They clean the accommodations daily, make the beds, and provide fresh towels, even in the dorms. There’s a great selection of yoga classes with gifted instructors. The pool and lounge chairs create a true community vibe. I barely left the place in my 12 nights there, except to go to the beach just a few minutes walk away. I would definitely come back!

December 3, 2023 at 12:00 amI stayed in a room that was basically the common room, where people staying up late talked on the phone every night. The lack of windows in the room made it feel extra hot. I enjoyed the variety of classes and the beautiful community of travelers.

October 18, 2023 at 12:00 amSome construction was happening across the road – it kind of disrupted the peacefulness, but didn’t completely ruin the vibe. I just adore that place! It has such a serene atmosphere. The food is incredibly nourishing, tasty, and reasonably priced. The yoga options are varied and the instructors are top-notch. Plus, all the staff members are a joy to interact with. I absolutely love this place and have already visited twice this year. Can’t wait to return again in the future!

October 13, 2023 at 12:00 amThe noise from the nearby bars wasn’t really a problem at all! We could still sleep. The warmth, simplicity, and kindness that this place exudes. It’s a haven of peace for me. I preferred the dorms for more socializing. Loved the vegan meals, permaculture, staff, the property – I walked around barefoot all the time. The beach and shops are close by.
The yoga teachers are highly skilled and knowledgeable, especially Kemie with whom I did a lot of inversion classes. They are all insightful. The yoga halls. The SPA massage and wellness area. The pool, fruit and medicinal trees.
Thanks to the entire team, see you soon!

October 4, 2023 at 12:00 amI didn’t really enjoy Canggu that much, but it’s not the center’s fault. If you want privacy, be sure to book a room with a private bathroom. The single rooms without a bathroom are cheaper, but they are so small that I felt claustrophobic. The whole staff is incredibly kind and they strive to be as sustainable, local, and organic as possible when it comes to food. The restaurant and yoga classes are fantastic. The dorms are spacious and great if you like that style of traveling. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and perfect if you’re into surfing because the spot is super close.

The staff were very attentive and helpful.

September 1, 2023 at 12:00 amEr was helemaal niets mis mee.

August 27, 2023 at 12:00 amThe floors in places like the bathrooms and yogi dorm might need a thorough cleaning and some maintenance on things like showers. The staff at Serenity is always smiling, welcoming, and happy to assist you. The yoga classes have very skilled teachers. The food at Alkaline (their restaurant) is good, especially the chocolate cake. The overall atmosphere is fantastic, with guests often deciding to extend their stay or come back again because they love it so much. It truly feels like a home away from home.

June 14, 2023 at 12:00 amThe noise around the premises is the only downside. It’s not really their fault, but it needs to be mentioned. There was a lot of construction going on, so some classes were noisy. Plus, if you’re trying to get some shut-eye at Seabreeze, there are roosters right outside. For light sleepers, it’s better to stay at Serenity itself, as it’s a bit quieter. But the yoga class selection was really nice! All the teachers were amazing! The staff was always smiley and helpful. And don’t even get me started on how amazing the breakfast was!

June 5, 2023 at 12:00 amHere’s what really got to me: the cat situation. We found a small kitten abandoned, along with its mom and another kitten. Sadly, the mom passed away, leaving her baby all alone. Sometimes he went without food, but me and some other girls made sure to take care of them. And can I just say, the yoga instructors are fantastic! I absolutely adored the classes. But what really shines for me are the staff members! Just walking around is so serene, even though you’re in the busy Canggu area. It’s a little oasis right near the beach. The focus on permaculture and healing herbal medicines was a highlight for me, and don’t even get me started on the Alkaline cafe – best food of my trip! Being able to get alkaline water and everything you need in one spot was amazing. I highly recommend staying here!

April 27, 2023 at 12:00 amWe spent a month in Serenity and wanted to stay even longer. We tried out all the yoga classes and really enjoyed them, along with the diverse practices and great teachers. The pool area is the perfect spot to relax, and the staff at the resort are incredibly friendly and attentive.
The only downside to Serenity is the lack of comfort in some of the private rooms. We stayed in four different rooms and found the mattresses to be uncomfortable, leading to back pain. The Tarzan room, in particular, is one to avoid – no AC, lack of privacy, and smoke smell from nearby fires. The staff stopped smoking near our room when we asked, but other neighbors still burn garbage and rice fields.
The Alkaline restaurant at the resort is good, with reasonable prices and healthy food options. The breakfast buffet is decent, but you can find better food nearby for slightly more money.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely consider returning in the future.

The welcome was amazing, got a tour of the place right away and they take their time with you. The atmosphere is very calming. The bed is cozy and surrounded by drapes and a mosquito net. The room is pretty dark, even in the daytime! They tidy up your bed every morning. The breakfast buffet is fantastic! So many different vegan options to try: homemade bread slices and peanut butter/jam, fruit, a different special each time (pumpkin, chickpea soup), and coffee, tea, milk, and juices! The homemade peanut butter and jam are so tasty!!! The restaurant on site also has great vegan choices at a good price.
Helpful ReviewI stayed in the shared room with 3 yoga classes. There are about 10 yoga classes to choose from. The instructors are awesome and cater to beginners. I really enjoyed Yogi’s Hatha class. March 3, 2023 at 12:00 amOther teachers are good too, but they don’t adjust students. I went to Kemi’s class to learn inversions, but she’s not really giving step-by-step instructions on how to do them. Instead, she just told me “if you’re not gonna try, you won’t be able to do it.” I can’t do inversions without someone helping me, or I might injure myself. Kartana, Mano, Quino, and Yogi teach great yoga classes. They adjust students and are passionate about sharing their knowledge.

January 19, 2023 at 12:00 amI needed a private room with a shared bathroom for 30 days. – When it comes to Canggu, do your research (I wish I had). It’s not quite what I expected. Westerners and spring breakers have taken over the town. From what I gathered, most businesses are now owned by foreigners. If you’re into partying and surfing, then Canggu is the place to be.
– The room I got was small – just one single bed, no desk, and one dresser. Not bad so far. But, the two windows were a bit bothersome – one facing the bathroom/shower area and the other facing an alley where smokers gathered (despite it being a smoke-free resort). The noise from people using the bathroom and the smell of cigarettes made it uncomfortable.
– The Wifi didn’t reach my room, which meant no video calls and poor online streaming. The other rooms didn’t seem to have this issue. Not ideal for a 30-day yoga retreat.
After a few nights, I asked if I could switch rooms or pay more for an upgrade. Unfortunately, they were fully booked and couldn’t accommodate my request. So, I decided to cancel my stay and leave Canggu after the first week.
– On a positive note, the yoga classes were fantastic. The teachers were skilled, knowledgeable, and great communicators. Highly recommended!
– The staff were all very kind and added a positive vibe to the environment. Thank you!
– The pool area was lovely. Although there weren’t many places to sunbathe, the pool itself wasn’t too crowded.
– The spa next to the pool was excellent. I had a Balinese massage there and it was top-notch for the price.
Overall, I would definitely do yoga at this facility again. Just wish my accommodation experience had been better.

March 20, 2020 at 12:00 amSometimes inconsiderate guests leave the shared bathroom facilities unclean, especially the toilet seats.
During the start of class, one of the instructors took the tokens and ignored my request to be left alone with my practice, as indicated by how I had placed the card.
The accommodations here are simple and eco-friendly, and the staff are incredibly helpful and kind. The vegan breakfast buffet is absolutely amazing. The pool area is incredibly peaceful, and the yoga classes are great.
Most of the instructors here teach a more modern style of yoga, focusing on movement. However, some instructors also incorporate more traditional practices into their classes. With such a variety of teachers and classes, there’s something for everyone here.
The resort is conveniently located near a beautiful beach with great surfing spots, as well as within walking distance of some fantastic restaurants. I would definitely recommend staying here.

March 15, 2020 at 12:00 amWe couldn’t find a key for our dorm room. The bathrooms weren’t very clean. The beds were like sleeping on a rock. If you’re on the bottom bunk, watch out for centipedes at night. It’s so damp here that you never feel dry. The food unfortunately made people sick, so I skipped breakfast and ate elsewhere. I think this was just my dorm experience, though. Others seemed fine.
Yoga was a blast and the teachers were super fun and helpful, especially for beginners. The pool is great. The location is perfect – a quick 10-minute walk to the main area, hidden and quiet. The staff are incredibly friendly and quick to help – when we had no hot water, they fixed it right away. It’s a fantastic place to meet people, with staff and security available 24/7.

March 14, 2020 at 12:00 amI left the guesthouse feeling slightly disheartened because someone stole my treasured bracelet, towel, and bikini. The staff did their best by taking down my name and room number in case the items turned up, which I appreciated. But I still can’t shake this sour feeling. The staff were very friendly and suggested I take a 2-minute shuttle from S1 to S2 instead of walking 10 minutes in the dark. The food was amazing and such a great value. The pool was perfect and I enjoyed every yoga class, even though I left with aches everywhere! Thank you, Serenity, for providing me with a great holiday.

March 8, 2020 at 12:00 amThe accommodations in Serenity 2 are farther from block 1 and not as well-appointed as the accommodations in Serenity 1. Our air conditioning broke and it took 5 days before it was fixed, the temperature was unbearable.
Also, I booked through bookyogaretreat which advertised 30 days of unlimited yoga classes, but I still had to pay for the classes. That’s not what I expected for the price I paid.

February 17, 2020 at 12:00 amThe alkaline restaurant at the swimming pool is not worth visiting! The banana bread tastes like playdough, and a lot of people from the hotel got sick at the same time. Strange, right? Better avoid the restaurant and eat outside for tastier and cheaper options. The breakfast is bland, even though we knew it was vegan. When we asked for more pineapple jam instead of papaya, they said it wasn’t possible because the papaya had to be finished first. We didn’t eat at the restaurant for lunch or dinner, but when we asked for two spoons, they couldn’t lend us any. We paid 120 euros for the room and yoga for the week, but unlimited yoga for a week only costs 60 euros. We felt that the dorm room bed wasn’t even worth 10 euros a night. The staff wasn’t very friendly, and there weren’t any nice places to relax if you didn’t buy anything from the restaurant. It’s a shame because we were excited to try yoga in Canggu. The aerial yoga class, the location, and the cleanliness of the room and common areas were the only positives.

February 12, 2020 at 12:00 amBreakfasts at this place are so boring and unimaginative. They serve the same thing every day and the quality is low. They really need to step up their hygiene standards. And having stinky dogs in the restaurant? That’s not a good look!
But on a positive note, the yoga teaching and facilities are top-notch. The accommodation is decent for the price. The food is okay, but the breakfasts just kept getting worse over time.
And get this – there are tons of sick people at the resort. They all got bacterial infections from eating the food here. Yikes!

February 3, 2020 at 12:00 amThe rooms could be better, but hey, it’s a budget-friendly retreat so you get what you pay for. Breakfast wasn’t that great either. I suggest grabbing breakfast elsewhere each morning instead of opting for the buffet. It’s pretty small. Now, the yoga classes are amazing! The teachers are fantastic and there’s a wide variety of yoga styles to choose from.

January 21, 2020 at 12:00 amI stayed at Serenity 2 and the dorm room was close to some local houses. Roosters and dogs woke me up a couple times. The staff at the dorm was very kind and helpful. The vegan breakfast was delicious. I also tried the cakes at the restaurant, all vegan and great. I thought the whole place was very coherent with their food offer, yoga, spa, and permaculture around the property. They even care about the type of chemicals they put in the pool! I joined an ecstatic dance session led by Deva which was awesome too! They just need a proper sound system 😉 The aerial yoga class was my favorite! Must try once!!! I felt safe, comfortable, and well taken care of 🙂 It was a lovely stay!

January 20, 2020 at 12:00 amI really liked the food at first, but then it got a bit boring with many dishes being the same. I was also trying to avoid salads since they were washed in the general water, but most dishes had raw ingredients. I’m not sure what their vegan alkaline diet really includes, but I would have liked more legume-based dishes. We had moong beans one day for breakfast, but it was a strange sweet porridge. Breakfast was okay overall, but the fresh juices were more like purees than juice. I noticed there was a jacuzzi at one end of the pool, but I couldn’t figure out how to turn it on. Our room was right in the centre of the complex, but some of the accommodation was far away and the road to them could be busy at times. I wouldn’t want to stay at those alternative places, even if they have a shuttle. Despite my reservations, I would definitely go back. Booking unlimited yoga classes might have been a bit ambitious, but we managed at least one a day, sometimes two. There were so many types and levels to choose from, running from 7am to 7pm. All the instructors were excellent and the facilities were top-notch. The staff were all incredibly helpful and seemed to go above and beyond. The place was kept very clean and provided a quiet environment to relax in. The pool area was great for relaxing, and our ensuite room was right by the pool. The spa treatments were outstanding and reasonably priced. Plus, it was just a short walk to the beach.

January 16, 2020 at 12:00 amI stayed at serenety2. There were many chickens and roosters around, but they didn’t bother me at all. However, the entrance is a big, very loud, wobbly metal gate that is pushed open and closed all night by people coming and going.
The room is very noisy because the door is a sliding door that doesn’t fully close, but the beds are very comfortable! The air conditioning is very quiet and the pool is very clean.
The breakfast is good but mostly sweet. There is always fresh fruit, bread with sweet spreads, and a warm dish (baked banana or porridge, for example).
The room itself is small, with just a bed and mosquito net, which is all you really need. The bathroom was cleaned every day.

December 21, 2019 at 12:00 amI’m not sure what was happening there, but literally every single new person who stayed in the dorm, including myself (and plenty of people in other rooms as well) got some kind of terrible 24hr vomiting and diarrhea sickness. The included breakfast, the sanitation or water quality, or a 24hr flu that is kept alive in that place because people are coming through all of the time could have been the cause— regardless, every single person staying in the dorm (and people staying in other rooms as well) got sick (and I was staying over a span of 10 days). The yoga instructors were great, I really enjoyed the open air studios. The pool was beautiful. The wifi was okay. The location was fantastic—only a few minutes from the beach. The atmosphere was really relaxed. The staff was extremely helpful and kind, providing very good customer service.

September 9, 2019 at 12:00 amI stayed at the Serene rooms, a short distance from the main building. The rooms were nice, but I didn’t love waking up at 4:30 to roosters and dogs right outside my window. It didn’t ruin my stay, but I definitely didn’t get the most restful sleep with all that noise. I tried everything – earplugs, headphones – but nothing could drown out those crazy animal sounds every morning.
Despite the noisy wake-up call, the setting and vibe at Serenity Eco Lodge were fantastic. The staff were great, except for one odd encounter with what I think was the office manager. He brushed me off and sent me to another staff member when I approached him at the front desk.
Both Kartana and Diaz were fantastic yoga instructors. Kartana’s style aligned with mine, and I appreciated his pose corrections. Diaz was amazing at yoga, but I wish he had given me more physical corrections instead of just showing me.
Overall, I had a super experience and would highly recommend Serenity Eco Lodge.

September 5, 2019 at 12:00 amYou should definitely avoid staying near Serenity 1 & 2 and Kris Kros: there are cockfights going on all night, accompanied by barking dogs, and on weekends there’s a parade of surfers on scooters partying late, guaranteeing you sleepless nights. The nearby beach is average, with rough seas, black sand, and lots of surfers and kid surfers. The instructors are excellent though. August 18, 2019 at 12:00 amWhen I imagined a yoga retreat, I pictured staying with the same people, having main teachers, and following a structured program. But this place is more like a guest house with drop-in yoga classes. You might end up rooming with non-yogis whose schedules don’t match yours.
I had a great time, but it wasn’t quite what I expected. On the bright side, it offers more flexibility. They do have all-encompassing yoga retreats at a higher price. But for what I paid, I couldn’t be happier. The teachers, classes, variety, and staff were all fantastic. I made some amazing friends during my stay.
The food was delicious and healthy. I loved the banana smoothie and chia bowl, and the free water was a bonus. The location is perfect, close to the beach on a quiet street.

May 19, 2019 at 12:00 amThe yoga was amazing overall with different teachers bringing in their unique approaches. I attended 81 classes in just one month, and only walked out of one – Hannah’s Sunset flow was a complete waste of time. Yudah’s classes are decent, but his English could use some improvement. It can be quite annoying to hear bad grammar while trying to focus on the practice. Some students even left the class because of it. However, it’s just a language issue, and I hope he works on it soon. His lessons are actually pretty good!
The Alkaline restaurant has some issues – it’s slow and chaotic. Orders often get mixed up, and it can be frustrating when you’re on a tight yoga schedule. The service could be a lot better if the kitchen operated more efficiently and the waiters spoke better English.
The staff at Serenity is absolutely fantastic! They work hard and are always willing to help you out. They go above and beyond to make sure you have a good experience. The reception staff and yoga instructors are all amazing. The drivers are also very helpful, and the massages are top-notch. Don’t forget to tip them directly!

Honestly, I was a little scared. The yoga classes were tough, harder than I thought, but the instructors managed to make them enjoyable.
The food was so creative and imaginative, even for someone like me who isn’t a vegan. I loved trying out different dishes on the menu. April 21, 2019 at 12:00 amOur room. Not a restful night. Right next to a dog breeder according to the receptionist.. constant barking and roosters made it impossible to sleep well even with earplugs. And the noise continued through the day as well. Hearing dogs bark all the time is not pleasant. We had a fridge but no kettle so no hot water available as promised. Having to walk 1.5km for a cup of tea is not what I call convenient. The shower didn’t work properly, with alternating hot and cold water. For the price, the room was not up to par… and not serene despite its name. The Serenity center was nice with its pool, restaurant, and garden, but if you’re not staying there, you can’t enjoy the offered services like hot water, cold water, relaxation room, pool, or breakfast – everything is there luckily we had a scooter, as it wasn’t really close by. The yoga classes and equipment were perfect and there were classes at all times of the day.

April 17, 2019 at 12:00 amThe public toilets need to be cleaned more often! 😉 I had the most amazing time at this beautiful place. Every corner of this hostel is filled with love and happiness! The staff is incredibly sweet and really makes an effort to help with everything! The rooms are clean, the food is delicious (even for non-vegans!), and as a vegan, I felt like I was in paradise! The yoga teachers were absolutely amazing and taught me a lot. I highly recommend treating yourself to a massage, they are so good! After a week at Serenity, I decided to extend my stay because I loved it so much! Thank you for everything, I will definitely be back!

April 14, 2019 at 12:00 amThe staff here at Serenity Guest House really made this experience smooth. They welcomed me with a smile each moment of the day and supported me when needed. This place is open yet enclosed, but it doesn’t take away from indulging in nature.
I want to give a big thank you to everyone at Serenity Guest House .
