What is Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga?

Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga is a physical practice that originated from the Ashtanga yoga lineage, developed over 5,000 years ago in Mysore India by Pattabhi Jois. This 200-hour training focuses on The Yoga Sutras by Patanjali, a key text in classical yoga philosophy.

Ashtanga Vinyasa Practice

The practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa involves connecting breath with movement in a flowing sequence. Classes are energetic and fast-paced, combining sun salutations, standing poses, inversions, and seated poses. The training focuses on the Primary Series, offering a modified version suitable for all levels.

Mysore-style yoga

During the training, you will learn and practice Mysore yoga, a self-led style that allows for inward focus and heightened awareness. By the end of the training, you will have your own practice to use as a basis for teaching.

It was perfect for me. It exceeded all my expectations in so many ways, and I made some lifelong friends in the process. The knowledge, instruction, location, and overall professionalism were excellent. David, the head teacher, was the perfect lead trainer, and I highly recommend him to anyone passionate about venturing into the world of Ashtanga Vinyasa!

I absolutely loved the entire training, from all that I learned to all that I experienced. I am so humbly grateful for the opportunity. If I were to suggest any improvements, I would recommend making the Anatomy course more in-depth and focused on specific asanas and their benefits, as well as safety and injury prevention for each pose. However, I really enjoyed learning about Qi energy and found it to be very relevant and useful. I also think that more guidance and practice on creating class sequences would be beneficial for future All Yoga graduates.

The training was absolutely beautiful, with incredible teachers and a lovely space. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! The teachers were outstanding – inspiring, caring, knowledgeable, attentive, encouraging, guiding, real, and just lovely. The diversity among the teachers was also fantastic, each bringing a unique perspective that complemented each other well. Marcela, our lead instructor, was simply amazing. She embodied everything I look for in a teacher – wise, knowledgeable, funny, caring, real, laid back, yet strict… truly inspiring. The lessons, knowledge, and memories I gained from this course will always hold a special place in my heart. It was truly a life-changing experience.

I absolutely loved this course despite the price being on the higher side for what’s included. The instructors were all amazing and super experienced, making it totally worth it. It’s hard to describe how awesome this experience was. The instructors created a supportive and magical atmosphere that was both empowering and accepting. The course challenged me physically and opened my eyes to so much more than just yoga poses. I’m leaving the island feeling grateful and humbled, with a new yoga family from all over the world and the best yoga practice ever. Plus, the food options on Lembongan are amazing – smoothie bowls, organic treats, and fresh seafood. And being able to go from practice to watching the sunset in the ocean every evening was just incredible!
