Experience the program that offers a 3-day silent retreat of mindfulness, gentle yoga, breathwork, and zen living at Wakanda Resort in Bali. During this retreat, you can practice yoga and meditation in a supportive and welcoming environment. You’ll also have the chance to rest and escape the distractions of daily life. This retreat coincides with the “Day of Silence” or NYEPI, a mandatory religious prohibition in Bali. NYEPI includes no pleasure, no traffic, no fire, and no work. This year, NYEPI falls on March 11, 2024.
One day before NYEPI, there will be an Ogoh-Ogoh parade performed by neighboring villagers in the evening. Ogoh-Ogoh represents anything that disturbs human lives and the parade is an exorcism ceremony to drive away demons. There will also be a Perang Api or fire war before the parade, where young men throw flaming balls at each other symbolizing the courage to overcome inner demons. You are welcome to witness this ritual parade before dinner on March 10, 2024.
Please note that during NYEPI Day, there are certain conditions to be aware of:
– The silence begins at sunrise on March 11, 2024, and lasts for 24 hours.
– All shops are closed.
– Guests must stay within the resort area.
– Keep noise levels to a minimum when listening to music or watching TV.
– There will be no traffic on the entire Bali island.
– Ngurah Rai airport will be closed on March 11, 2024, with no arrivals or departures.
– Activities are only allowed in emergency rooms, maternity sections of hospitals, and the arrival section of the airport. The whole island is in silence.
The retreat itinerary starts on March 10 with an opening meditation and Yin yoga. The sharing circle is the initiation of the silent retreat journey. On March 10, you can also join the Ogoh-Ogoh Festival in the neighborhood before dinner.

November 30, 2023 at 12:00 amDewi was such a wonderful yoga, meditation, and sound healing facilitator! She was so calm, friendly, and accommodating to my ability levels. I had never tried Breathwork and ice bath before, but they turned out to be new and highly healing experiences for me.

October 9, 2023 at 12:00 amI think it was quite expensive, but the treatment you receive is very attentive, so maybe it wasn’t that bad after all. Maybe I just have a backpacker’s mentality. The room was amazing, but the walls were so thin that you could hear everything happening next to and below you… However, I absolutely loved this retreat! It surpassed my expectations. The yoga classes were perfect, they pushed you just the right amount, and the sound healing and breath work played a crucial role in the healing aspect of the retreat 🙂 I appreciated everything so much, and I’m really glad I had the opportunity to do this!

October 4, 2023 at 12:00 amI have no complaints at all! Everything was amazing and far surpassed my expectations. My schedule was absolutely perfect. There were plenty of food options and meals to choose from. I felt like royalty, even though I was traveling alone. The location, with its beautiful and peaceful surroundings of rice paddies, really added to the whole experience.

September 26, 2023 at 12:00 amI’m disappointed and sad about this retreat that I had high expectations for. The communication is poor and the program doesn’t match the package and schedule that was originally advertised. This isn’t my first time in Bali, so I don’t understand why I paid for a retreat that only lasted less than a day and a half, when it was supposed to be 3 days according to the website.
On top of that, there were issues with the room not matching the photo and being close to a noisy construction site. There was also a bad smell and humidity in the room. I had to pay for my own lunch on the first day and all the small drinks throughout the day.
The 7am classes are supposed to be free for hotel guests, and the last class at 7am wasn’t even with a retreat teacher. The breathwork and ice bath took place in my room, which was a big surprise. Not all yoga classes were held in the yoga shala.
The schedule was too packed for one day, and there was hardly anything scheduled on the day of arrival and departure.
This retreat isn’t meant for solo travelers because it takes place in a romantic hotel filled with couples, and all the classes are private. This wasn’t mentioned initially.
Lastly, the retreat is very expensive for only one day of activities. I was disappointed to not receive any response to my message expressing my dissatisfaction.
I think this retreat could have been great if the correct information was communicated. I loved the class with Dewie, as well as the breathwork and ice bath. I think those activities were amazing.
The hotel is nice, despite the major humidity problem and construction nearby. The food is good, and the hotel staff is lovely.

July 27, 2023 at 12:00 amIf you’re looking for a proper wellness/spiritual retreat, this retreat is not what you’re looking for. Also, not all the photos match the hotel. For example, the woman doing yoga next to a pool and the yoga deck/area are not found at this hotel/retreat.
Basically, this is just a person who arranges activities at different hotels and sends teachers for the classes. However, nobody from Shakti was actually at the hotel managing and organizing the activities. It was a complete nightmare. I felt like I was an employee trying to coordinate the activities between the hotel and the teachers. I had to constantly message the teachers and figure out when and where the activities would take place. It was definitely not the relaxing and disconnected experience I was hoping for.
The hotel didn’t even have clear instructions, so it was always a pain dealing with the disorganization and lack of management and professionalism from Shakti.
To make matters worse, when I arrived at the hotel, I didn’t even know that the retreat wasn’t organized directly by the hotel. They had no idea about the booking or the so-called “retreat.” The yoga class didn’t even take place in a dedicated yoga studio. It was just in the general areas of the hotel, with people passing by.
The owner of Shakti, Lila, showed zero leadership skills in handling the problems that came up. Instead, she just kept sending the teachers to deal with everything. She never reached out to me to apologize or offer a solution. Overall, this retreat is not worth the high price they charge for the quality you receive.
On a positive note, I was accidentally moved to a much better hotel and room, which ended up being in a beautiful location with friendly people and delicious food. So, all the things I liked were actually related to the hotel itself, not the retreat.

July 20, 2023 at 12:00 amThe Wakanda is definitely not suitable for a yoga retreat. The yoga room is right next to the restaurant bar. So while you practice yoga and meditation, you can hear the music from the restaurant bar and the customers chatting and laughing… because yes, the Wakanda is a classic hotel with customers who don’t care about yoga and meditation classes.
The restaurant serves the most tasteless food in Bali…
The room is nice and spacious but smells terrible, like an old wet sock, probably a mix of humidity and drain. The same smell is present in the spa.
And ironically, I was given the noisiest room in the hotel, right in front of the restaurant bar!
If you’re only looking for quality yoga classes in a beautiful location, then yes, go there. Otherwise, you’ll be disappointed. Lila, the yoga instructor, is fabulous. She’s a beautiful person with good energy and is one of the best, if not the best, yoga instructors I’ve had.
The breathwork and ice bath session was also awesome.
The yoga room itself is stunning, with a beautiful view amidst tropical vegetation.
The spa offers excellent massages in a very nice atmosphere.

July 18, 2023 at 12:00 amI absolutely loved my stay at Shakti Wellness! The instructors were amazing – they really made the effort to connect with each of us and understand our needs on our own unique journeys. The sessions struck the perfect balance between relaxation and being pushed to our limits. I can’t wait to go back again!

August 23, 2022 at 12:00 amI was a little disappointed with the food. Overall, I felt like they charged a bit too much for the services we got. The overall ambience of the place was really peaceful. All the facilities were great. Plus, the staff was super friendly.

August 18, 2022 at 12:00 amThere isn’t a dedicated yoga space here. It’s more like a hotel that offers services rather than a yoga retreat, so expect families and other travelers who may not have a zen state of mind during your stay. People come and go at different times to accommodate various schedules at this retreat. Although doing yoga by the pool was enjoyable, most classes take place on a small balcony that can only be accessed through your private room. The pictures in the listing are deceptive. There’s no fridge in the room, unfortunately. However, the breathe workshop was incredible. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, and the teachers were lovely. The massage and zen walk were both delightful.

July 18, 2022 at 12:00 amI absolutely loved it! My candlelight meditation got cancelled but I didn’t feel like I missed out on anything. The location was wonderful and peaceful, away from the busy center of Ubud. The hotel is new and up and coming, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, with a perfect balance of flavors that were really tasty. The yoga practice and teaching were top-notch, and I had one of the best massages ever! The Breathwork and Ice Bath experience was both interesting and unforgettable. I felt like I really connected with Lila and Vena, and all the teachers were fantastic overall. Short time retreats like this are a great way to relax and practice yoga without overwhelming yourself. Lila has a personal approach that gives you all the attention you need.
